Oh, gosh. Maybe 4 a.m. or so?
Whenever it was, it was sinfully, criminally early.
I had one of those mornings last summer. I had a very early flight, so I set the alarm for 4 to give myself enough time to fix my mop and put on le warpaint before heading to the airport.
El Hub just doesn’t get it. Whenever we have to catch an early flight, he militantly insists that we sleep until the very last second before the alarm goes off, but he wakes up fully alert like a ninja! It’s like BOOM! Eyes open, wide awake. I swear he needs less than five minutes to get ready.
Simply put, I do not function that way. I need at least 20 minutes just to get my brain turned on. I like to get up, put something in my tum (doesn’t matter what time it is, I’m always starving when I wake up), have some coffee, and then I need 30-45 minutes to do my hair and makeup. Then maybe another 20 minutes to check and double-check and re-check everything to make sure I don’t forget something important like my driver’s license.
El Hub always gets super cranky when I set the alarm for an hour before we have to leave. It’s gotten to the point where I just tell him, “Sure, babe, the alarm is set to go off five minutes before we have to leave,” but really, I just set it for the real time I want to get up anyway, LOL! 🙂
How about you? What’s the earliest you’ve ever had to wake up and do your hair/makeup?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. BRB! I’m on my way out the door right now. I’m going to be a hair model this morning for my hairstylist buddy Alis, who’s teaching a class on Oribe products where she works. I’ve never done that before… I think it’ll be fun.
Then on the way back I have to swing by the MAC counter at the mall.
No, really, I “have” to, because yesterday I dropped my brand new bottle of Pro Longwear Concealer on the kitchen tiles, and it shattered.
I was probably more crushed than it was. 🙁
Grr… Those damned glass bottles.
Anywho, I should be back in a few hours. Have a great Tuesday. I’ll see you soon.

I wake up every day at 4:15 to curl my hair (curl secret), make up, dress, and then wake up my little one….He is at the baby sitter by 6:30

I think the earliest for me was also 4am. I had to get on a bus to go to Washington DC, and I had to be there at 6am. It was only a bus ride, but I was never going to spend 3 hours on a bus with a bare face. 🙂
This might sound silly, but what if you wrap a piece of bubble wrap around the tube of concealer? It wouldn’t look so pretty, but it would save the bottle from smashing in the future.

Ha ha! Same here, girls always need more time. But anyday for me sleeping for some more time would win putting on makeup! 😀 Aww, sorry about the concealer , good excuse for u to enter MAC shop though 😉

I get up at 4am two times a week :/
I don’t do my makeup every time but if I decide not to pack a lunch then I do! Of course by do my makeup I mean throw on some eyeshadow, mascara, lipgloss, and maybe some blush.

Around 8AM when I was going to the airport.

When I was coming home from England I think I had to get up around 3:30 am for my flight! It was insanity. But I got up at 5:00 am for work for nearly a decade (which I loathed) so it really wasn’t that much earlier, haha!

2-3 am when I worked in Nordstrom Cosmetics for Trend Show. I had to be there by 4! And because it was Trend, my hair and makeup had to be on point! Exhausting, but one of my favorite days of the year.

Whenever we’re visiting my grandparents in the summer (a nine hour drive, since the nearest airport is still 3 1/2 hours of bad roads away from their place) we leave around 4 a.m. so I usually get up around 3 to get ready. I don’t need all that long, maybe 20 minutes for hair and make up, but I need my 20-minute-coffee-time every morning to get me going and I’m a bit ODC about packing, so I need another 20 minutes to check wheter I really have everything I need in my bags. Thankfully I never had problems with getting up early and we’re only doing this trip once or twice a year.

3am was my earliest wake-up time, and I had to do just hair, not makeup. I had to be at the old job at 0530 for my first day (Black Monday). When I wake up early for a flight or a trip, I don’t need a lot of time to get ready but I do like to look halfway good in case hubby and I take pics of our trip there.

when I worked four 10 hour shifts a week at my old job, I had to be up by 3 am at the absolute latest if I wanted to get my makeup and hair done, eat and leave for work on time.

I’m still thinking about you modeling for that hair class. I discovered the Oribe Dry Texturizing spray and it changed my hair game. I’m scared to try the other products because I know I’m going to fall in love with them, big price tags and all!
Because I am a freelance MUA, my hours are all over the place, so I’m used to waking up at odd hours and having to get dolled up. I can not show up to glam a new client looking busted, because they won’t be able to relax if their mua is a hot mess haha. So far, the earliest I’ve been up is 2am to leave my house by 3:30 to make a 2 hour drive to San Diego. Thank God I love my job :).
Happy Tuesday, Karen and Tabs!

It’s been so long since I’ve had to wake up super early, I can’t even remember. Although, I’m starting half-marathon training in two weeks and the Sunday training day starts at 8AM.
Oh god…what am I getting myself into?
Not going to wear makeup to that one, though!

Earliest I have had to wake up was around 3:00 because I had to take a flight, but I had to shower and then get ready of course!

Uh…today? Yep, 4 A.M. I had an in and out surgery this morning and had to be there by 6. No makeup, but the pre-op instructions said to use their ‘special’ cleansing wash, after shampooing, and after the facial cleanser you use. No lotions, deodorant, makeup or hair products- grrrrr. I was as clean as a whistle, but I’ve looked better lol. Glad to be done and at home!

Probably 5:00, when I had to go to the airport. I just did a simple and natural look in 10 minutes. I wanted to look decent in case someone took photos, but I couldn’t be bothered to wake up too early to do my makeup. lol

3 am. I was commuting to work an had to take the first train, buses hadn’t started going yet so I had to walk 30 min to the trainstation. But mostly I did my makeup on the train and most of the hair aswell.

Yah, the same thing happens here. I get up an hour and a half in advance (you know, make-up, hair, nice breakfast) and my man gets up ten minutes before he needs to leave the house. We don’t get each other, lol. Anyway, the earliest I’ve ever had to get up and get ready was at like 3AM I think.

I am not going to share the earliest I had to wake up to put on make up to be on time someplace as it will echo all the other comments. Two years ago, I was getting ready to visit my family in California. My flight left LaGuardia Airport, New York, around 6 a.m. I was winding up some last last minute Christmas Shopping as it was Christmas Eve. I finally got myself on the subway back to my apartment. In a great mood, I laid out my suitcase preparing my self to sort through clothing’s in order to make final decision. It was close to midnight when my younger brother called me from Canada. He never called. “I just want to let you know that mother died in the hospital in Sacramento, her heart gave out.” These words gave me an emotional slug in my chest. For the next several hours, all I could do was cry. I managed to take a shower, afterwards overpacked all my clothing and never never tried or thought about putting on make up or combing my hair. I was devastated. I went to the airport, got on the flight and arrived at San Francisco International, crying all the way, with puffy red eyes, red nose, crazy hair. This probably is the only time I couldn’t put make up on or brush my hair and yet went out in public.

Does never getting a chance to go to bed in the first palce count? 😛 I’ve ended up doing that far too many times.
I’m very lazy – if I have to go somewhere early, and it’s something like the airport, then I wouldn’t bother with any more makeup than maybe a sheer lipstick or lip balm!
Iris says
Far too bad about the concealer. I once dropped a used twice jar of face powder and had it roll, spilling out a lot of the contents. 🙁
The earliest I’ve woken up is 5 a.m. Did my hair and makeup before going on a plane.

Back when I modeled, 4 am!

I’m like El Hub. I like to sleep until the last possible minute. Thankfully my family realises this, so they always wake me up last when we have to leave early for a trip.

I think 3 something was mine. I had one of those last week. Eek!!!

3 AM for a flight home. But I was so nervous about having to wake up that early, I barely got half an hour’s sleep!

We get up every week day at 4:00 am. Hubby has to leave at 5:15 and we eat breakfast. He works at a ski resort – year round. When I go skiing and have to be in the car when he leaves, I’m usually 70% finished with my hair and makeup. I finish it in the car or at the lodge (not too many people in the lodge at 6:00 am). The other days I get up with him but then have an hour to myself after he leaves before I have to leave for my job.
I think having an extra 15-20 minutes for getting myself together is worth getting up early.
