I know that one should never say never…but as it pertains to super skinny brows, I’m 100% sure I’m never going there again.
Been there, done that, don’t need to do it again, LOL!
I had them from about my early-20s until my mid-30s, which is more than enough skinny brow action for this lifetime. For being as narrow as they were, they were surprisingly high maintenance. I was forever plucking those thin arches, man!
When I finally decided to grow them back out a few years ago, it took almost an entire year, and now that they’re big and bushy again, I plan to keep them that way.
Of course…now that I’ve said that, super skinny brows are sure to come back in style, haha! But even if/when they do, I’m going to pass next time.
How about you? What’s a beauty trend you tried but vow to never, ever do again?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Black or brown lipliner with lip gloss (circa really good era fro Hip Hop and R&B)! High school years and that’s where it’ll stay!!

Total Jlo glow here! You loOK fabulous! But I agree with the other post here, the dark liner with light lips..way too middle school for me!

I would agree with the above comments for brown lipliner. I would include brown toned blush. As an older woman, I think brighter colors are more flattering.

Super smoky eyes. My eyes are too humongous for them.

A shag haircut. The minute the cut was finished, I knew it was a disaster on my super-straight hair. I had to immediately get a perm in order not to look like a drowned rat. My hair has a bit more texture now, but still not enough to work.
Fortunately, I never did the super-skinny brows, or darker lip liner around a lighter lip color. Or the pastel-pink-lipstick-and-robin’s-egg-blue-eyeshadow that constituted “makeup” when I was in middle/high school.

I agree with you on not ever doing super skinny browns again. I didn’t realize how much time I was spending on maintaining them until I let them grow out. Never again.

Such an interesting question. So, being a 90s child, I destroyed by brows by making them very thin. They never grew back to be thick brows unfortunately. Being more specific, if it’s a make up trend, then the 80s blush and hard contouring I’d not really ever adopt.
Christine says
Contouring and [over] highlighting (can’t resist a nice glow tho) an already bony face. I just look emaciated and unglamorous. College pics of me reveal that I DID NOT pay attention to my brows so they look alarmingly bushy. Kinda wish I had them now; at one point I did over-tweeze. :/

Blue eyeshadow all over the lid. Especially a pale, frosty blue. The 80’s kind of sucked for makeup…
As for the skinny brows, I’m sure the trend will come back eventually. I think your brows look fine in the picture Karen. They weren’t even that thin compared to the standard!

Too much foundation on perfect, poreless, blemish free skin. What was I thinking? Now I wear so much less if any and my skin is not so perfect 🙁

It was my parents forcing me! F THEM!

I used to do orangey bronzer as blush and it looked TERRIBLE on me (fair skin, freckled). I’m not sure if that was a trend though or just my ineptitude.
Oh and liquid liner on top and bottom.

It was already mentioned about the brown lip liner, but I went as far as using brown eyeliner to line my lips because I wanted it to be a certain color. I’d ask my high school self “Why?!” if I could.

Oh yeah, there was a time I overplucked my brows SO bad, haha! Never gonna do that again. EVER.

lucky you, I am trying to grow my brows back for past 3-4 years and with minimal luck.. I was in my high school when you had to have tiny brows and foundation face. No blush, contour, powder, just foundation everywhere including lips. What was wrong with the world? And also I remember the trend where you had to draw black pencil in your inner under lash line, and it made the eyes look so small… oh God…

Oh, your brows aren’t overly skinny in that pic. I’ve seen some disastrously skinny brows (and still, to this day). I always want to be like “oh, please let them grow!” but to each her own. 🙁 I’m with you on thin brows and will also vow not to tease my bangs to skyscraper heights or use Aqua Net ever again. Or use a lighter to heat my black pencil eyeliner (or any eyeliner). I supposed I could have just said pretty much all the horrors of the 80s are not to be repeated. 🙂
