MY BEST:
Actually, it happened at Sears. I was looking for vacuum bags when I bumped into a relic from my past, Exclamation! perfume ($16). I’d thought it went the way of Z. Cavaricci pants, Ultima II lipsticks and those oversized polka dot shirts with the sheer sleeves, but I guess not! I felt like Indiana Jones, unearthing an ancient beauty artifact from 1992.
MY WORST:
Probably TMI, but I’m PMS-ing hard right now, and everything I try on makes me feel like a sausage. Even my stretchy pants feel snug… Never a good sign. 🙁

Best: I just got my set of heated hair rollers in the mail and had fun curling my hair. It came out kind of messy, but at least now I know how to fix it next time.
Worst: major breakout on my cheek 🙁
Jessica says
Ultima II LipseXXXy Red Matte lipstick was the best red lipstick ever. I think it was even long lasting too. I remember wearing that all through senior year!
Solé says
Hi Karen! Did you actually buy the Exclamation? Eek!
Hmm, my best would have to be giving myself a DIY Mani on Friday night and finally using my OPI for Sephora polish in Dark Room. It’s a deep, dark, bluish green. Tres chic. 😀
My worst experience of the week would have to be running out of clean clothes to wear on Monday and having to wear the jeans in the back of the closet that are about an inch too short and make me feel stupid when I wear them. I got way behind on the laundry during the move and finally got all caught up on Tuesday, at which point the silly too-short jeans went back into the back of the closet.
Citrine says
Best: halloween lashes and some cosmetics are all on clearance.
Worst:
Get a ton of mosquite bites on my legs and after I scratched them, now my legs is covered with what looks like livor mortis….

Best: Got a professional manicure! I usually do my nails myself, but my nails are lookin goooood right about now 🙂 I am wearing Butter London’s Chimney Sweep, if you are interested to know. GORGE.
Also, I finally got around to threading my brows, so I feel like a new woman
Worst: Went to open my cheapie mascara (NYX Doll Eyes) I wore at a maximum 2 times, but the vacuum was gone and I ended up with a gunky wand. waste of money!
Christina says
So sorry to hear you’re having a rough weekend, Karen. Chocolate and carbs are always my best friends right about that time…
Best moment: being able to throw my hair up in a messy bun without giving myself a serious headache/neck ache. Yay, easy hair!
Worst moment: over-sharpening my liner and watching it crumble. Not a big deal, but I get irritated when I waste product that I love.
.-= Christina’s last blog post… Three Pretty Things : 11/8 =-.
Kate & Zena says
Best: Having a good hair day on Saturday so I didn’t need a brush. Those days are few and far between.
Worst: Finding that my fringe did an Alfalfa on a school day! Do you know how hard it is to tame Alfalfa hair on fine textured hair without it looking like I plastered my fringe to my forehead?
Awww, I’m sorry you’re having such an icky weekend.
I’m off to finish my midterm!
Beth says
Sorry you’re feeling crappy. I totally sympathise with that “Oh my god, everything in my wardrobe makes me look fat” thing. Don’t you hate how the universe is so cruel that the thing you want to do to feel better is eat more? Pesky universe.
My best beauty moment this week was actually properly comitting to get a new beauty blog up and running. I’ve done an intro post and a review and I’m really excited so far. I’ve been saying for ages that I’d do it and even half started one before and didn’t follow through. This time I’ve got it all planned out!
My worst beauty moment this week was probably as a result of feeling crappy, taking less care with my skincare routine and now paying the price. I’m looking way dull and my skin is just horrible.
I hope you feel better soon chick!

OMG!!! I gotta go to Sears and get a few bottles of that now for some Christmas presents 😉 Those polka shirts w/ the sheer sleeves were the look, along with a giant scrunchie. 😛
Best Experience: Finding Korres Quince & Fig body butter at Winner’s (discount store here in Canada, like Ross) for $7.99! 🙂 I got 3. Also finding the Clarisonic MIA at The Shopping Channel. Yea for Easy Pay!
Worst Experience: Realizing that a silicone based face primer makes my skin angry. I have a few teeny tiny bumps on my chin and forehead….I’m eagerly awaiting the MIA.

Ahhh….Exclamation. I can the spicy-ness of it now. My mom still wear Emeraude and waits for those christmas gift set of it to come out.lol
Best: I did a spa night Friday of mani/pedi, overdue mini facial, wayy overdue shaving and things of that nature. I felt brand spanking new.
Worst:the pending doom of my menstrual cycle starting with previews of mood swings and fits of angry. It makes me very ugly.
.-= Jamie’s last blog post… SALE!!!: Fashion & Beauty Books!!!! =-.
Janiece says
My Best: I got to go down to Houston and finally see my boyfriend after 2 weeks. Nothing can even begin to compare to the time I spend with him.
Worst : as Jamie describe “the pending DOOM of my menstrual cycle” a 15 page paper due mixed with irritability is never good for those around me.

The best is receiving my three nars blushes that I ordered. I got Gina, Mounia and Angelika. Gina is so beautiful and natural and brightens my face. Angelika is one of my faves and I had dropped it, accidentally into the toilet, so I needed a new one. LOL and Mounia is just gorgeous. I might not use it often b/c I love bold lips more, but I will break this baby out on special occasions. Love nars blushes!
Worst? I misplaced my Feline pencil. It’s around somewhere, but I can’t find it right now. If it didn’t run like crazy on me, I might actually be sobbing right now. I just went out and got the urban decay 24/7 pencil in zero. 🙂 much, much better.

Hope you feel better soon! Chamomile tea works wonders for pms!
Best: Re-discovering my sumptuous olive eyeshadow from MAC and using it with Stila Eye Kajal in Onyx…my eyes look so awesome!
Worst: shaving my legs with an old razor…they feel awful 🙁
Joey says
Best: My Fyrinnae order came and I am OBSESSED with everything I got! Also my lovely boss gave me a gorgeous pair of brown leather knee high boots =) I am in love!
Worst: I have a pimple near my lips =( it hurts!
Yvette says
Best: My new poppy high shine lipgloss is awesome! Worst: I need a haircut again because the humidity around here in TX is making my thick hair blow up in a bad way!
amy says
Worst: It is that time of the month for me and that means breakouts for me. Reading that you are PMSing too reminds of the show Popular, in an episode where all the females have PMS the exact same day and it was all hell breaks loose. LOL!
Best: Sephora is having a gift with purchase for Beauty Insiders, where you buy $50 of anything and you get a free silver clutch filled with 8 samples of makeup and skin care items. I just came back with some goodies today along with my Sephora gift. In addition, I spotted some very nice goodies there and will be back later in the week to “browse.”
I sooo remember Ultima II products, but that was way back when I was in grade 8 or 9 and didn’t have a job and couldn’t buy anything. I remember really liking the lipstick colours.

Wow, Z-Cavaricci, Sheer Polka-Dot sleeves and Ultima II…retro FLASHback city! Actually, UltimaII was my FIRST makeup. I got a Ultimate gift set for Xmas when I was 12.
Best–scores at Ulta (Stila Kitten shadow & Pineapple Enzyme face scrub),Target (Soap & Glory Makeup Wipes) and Walmart (Hard Candy Tinted Moisturizer)…plus a MAJOR holiday haul from Bath & Body Works!
Worst–realizing the smokey eye look I did to attend a viewing today, had more glitter than I though. GLITTER at a Funeral Home was NOT the look I was going for……
Rebecca says
Best: I got my stuff from the Sephora Friends & Family sale – including my first palette! So excited to try it out 😀
Worst: Losing my tweezers. And being too broke to buy a new pair. I look straight out of the ’80s. D:

Best: Getting soaps from a good friend who makes them as her business after leaving nursing. These are the best! Also got a great sample of Creme de la Mer. Loving it – just not the price to go with it. Decisions…decisions….decisions…
Worst: left over pimples from that time of the month too. Glad they weren’t big ones.
Lily says
Best: nailing a pretty neutral pink eye.
worst: haven’t run in a week, so my skin is going CRAZY. If there’s a concealer shortage in america, you can blame yours truly. 🙂
Emily says
Hey Karen!
So there have been a few ups and downs this week BUT
Worst: trying studio fix (powder) foundation and not only turning ORANGE at work (crazy oxidation) but also having it break me out like crazy!
Best: Switching to Clinique City Stick and finding a perfect match, having the MA at MAC switch my 1.5 month old MSFN for the right colour (it was just toooo pink for me) and getting a new nail polish at Sephora (under my trench coat).

Aunt Flow is in town this week for me too.. Breakouts galore! On the plus side? There is no plus side!

My best: I got to check the Illamasqua collection live at sephora, Times square NY.
My worst: Had a bad make-up and bad hair day…all in newyork, due to weather and had to visit lovely stores in worst face…sucks!!

Best? I picked up my favorite microdermabrasion kit at the store and now have loverly skin.
Worst? Feeling frumpy and blue at an event I knew I would see former co-workers at.
But the mircoderm made it all better!
Kate & Zena says
Karen,
I’d like to revise my worst beauty experience and instead put having my clothes get Pepe le Pew’d. Zena got skunked. They are currently in the wash. THAT was rancid. Ick. Ich. Blah.
Tania says
Karen,
So sorry you’re illin’! Take a Midol girl and bond with the couch. When I feel like that I get a fab TV Series on DVD (Mad Men’s a good one) and have a marathon. This is even more fab now that I have a tele in the bedroom.
Best: last night I gave myself a facial, tweezed the ‘brows, and fixed that ‘stache. Man did my Prep + Prime Skin glide on like buttah this mornin’.
Worst: On Thursday I had my mom hack off most of my hair. I went from a choppy chin length bob to a not as long in the front and a lot more flattering Kate Gosselin ‘do. For the record, I never liked Jon and Kate Plus 8. The kids were/are CUTE but the show…snooze ville.
Are you ready for Monday??
Steph B says
Best — Fantabulous nails with Revlon’s No Shrinking Violet — a cool, silvery purple that I wouldn’t typically choose. But, since no work this week I decided to play a bit. I love it.
Worst — Picked up Dior Hydraction tinted moisturizer in the Sephora FF and it just doesn’t work for me. Feels wonderful but it has a definite white cast from the titanium oxide. Booo!
Hope the PMS passes quickly. Sausagedom will be over soon.
meimei says
Best beauty experience of the week: Going to the mall and picking up another Asia-exclusive Maybelline mascara – Unstoppable Curly Extension. Haven’t tried it yet (I’m still finishing up the 2-month window on my current mascara) but, yay!
Worst: Chipping my manicure. And not just any manicure, but a manicure with BLACK nailpolish. Ew ew ew.

OMG!! Thank you for that blast from the past, Karen. I remember those old Exclamation ads from when I was a kid — “Ex-cla-ma-tion! Make a statement . . . without saying a word.” And the model was wearing this stripy navy and white power suit with a very Joan Collins-esque hat, and sunglasses and red lipstick, and I thought she was the height of sophistication :).
Cheng says
Best – finally splurging on a Clarisonic; it’s been worth every penny.
Worst – was in such a hurry that I pulled out a few eyelashes with my shu uemura curler. not only did it hurt, but i was really scared that the lashes won’t grow back! i can’t afford to lose any lashes. they do grow back, right??
Toni says
Best: I would have to say getting my Sephora order from the F&F sale. I love, love, love my Lancome Definicils mascara. So, it was nice to have that back in my makeup drawer instead of the drugstore mascaras I’ve tried and didn’t like.
Worst: I didn’t like the Laura Mercier lip glosses I ordered from Sephora. Didn’t like how it felt on my lips. I loved the LM lip plumping gloss sample I got, but I refuse to pay $30 for a lip gloss.
Kristen says
Best: Finally getting over the flu!! And being able to put makeup on again! I had not put makeup on for 1 1/2 weeks (an eternity for me), and it felt so good to actually feel like putting it on again.
Also my Trish McEvoy eyebrow pencil that I got suckered into buying a few months ago broke, and I decided to give MAC Eyebrows a shot. It’s a lovely little pencil at a fraction of the price of the McEvoy, and I love the way it defines my brows. Another win for MAC.
Worst: My hair is a hot mess, and I’m so tired of styling it every day because it looks awful. Getting it done this Saturday, and it can’t come fast enough!

My best was trying Urban Decay’s Misdemeanor shadow from Book of Shadows II, it’s amazing.
My worst was when my Benefit Posetint came crashing down into my sink from my medicine cabinet, and broke all over the place. I only owned it for 2 weeks 🙁

Best: Finally clipping my claws I call toenails. Besides waxing my face, I really hate having to pretty up my toes.
Worst: Not applying my full face most of the week. I’ve been lazy and just doing foundation, powder, and lip gloss.

My best would have to be receiving my Sephora F&F haul and getting Dior’s Silver Purple NP. Such a gorgeous color. Already tried it and really like it.
My worst would be not washing my MU brushes. It’s been a while since I have washed them 🙁
I totally rocked that perfume back in the day. Memories…
