MY BEST:
All of my hard work last week exfoliating, moisturizing, plucking toe hairs (eek!) and babying the cuticles on my tootsies has finally paid off, YAY! My feet don’t look crusty and scary anymore for now. 🙂 Hallelujar!
MY WORST:
See’s Candies will be the death of me, I swear. The whole eating healthy/working out thing hasn’t gone too well lately. I’m still not working out enough and haven’t been able to resist the See’s siren call. I gotta get back on track this week…
What were your best and worst beauty experiences of the week? Please share yours in the comments.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. What a quick weekend! It went by so fast, and 🙁 I’m totes not ready for Monday. Um, can I get a Sunday extension, please?
Christina says
I second the motion for a Sunday extension!
Worst beauty moment: having my massage therapist (tactfully) tell me that one shoulder was noticeably higher than the other and I needed to see a chiropractor.
Best beauty moment: forgetting what eyeliner I wanted to try, then remembering my iPhone could connect me to this blog and jog my memory (thanks!).

Worst: Realizing it is time to color my hair . . . again . . . what is up with the grays sprouting up??
Best: Getting English Accents lipglass from MAC and loving it with Whirl lipliner
I love Sees, too. Whenever we get a box, I hide it from my kids, yet I am alarmed at how fast I can go through the entire thing myself lol
Rica says
My best:
Using my bronzer as my crease color. It gave me a super natural sunkissed look 😀
My worst:
Since I have pretty bad eye sight, I accidentally dye my chhek with hair dye when I was dying my hair so I couldn’t wear glasses until I rinse the product off. I think the mark is still on my cheek 🙁
.-= Rica’s last blog post… Maybe I should invest in a MAC 187 =-.
Jayme says
Worst:
Not being able to shower for two days due to a power outage, which ment no hot water.
Best:
Finding an article on melting together lipsticks! Now those colors that are slightly “off” i can fix
.-= Jayme’s last blog post… Blackout activities? =-.

Best: finally getting the black phoenix alchemy lab perfumes I ordered
worst: grey eyeshadow on a rainy day is apparently a drab, bad idea

My best: Forgot to wash off the (not so hot attempt at) a Joan Jett smokey eye Friday, looked even better in the morning! Did a quick clean up and went with it for the rest of the day.
My worst: Catching myself in unflattering light and realizing my roots are soo grown out, it looks like I wearing a yamulke. FAIL.
Girrrrlll, I hear you on the extension. I just brewed a cup of coffee to finish up some last minute projects. I coulda used that “lost” hour!

My best : getting the look right when doing a mini fashion talk in front of a brand event.
My worst ; getting a makeover during that same event and the makeup assistant used a foundation and powder that were 10 shades whiter than my skintone. I ended up looking like a ghost. Ugh!!!
.-= pia’s last blog post… Somekind of Safety Blanket =-.

Best beauty moment: Getting my haul – got my first Benefit products! Oh, <3 One Hot Minute and Coralista!
Worst beauty moment: Unsightly pimples that took the whole week to lessen in size! Eurgh!
Catherine says
I totally need a Sunday extension too!! Finals start tomorrow. O_O;
Best: I started taking Vitamin D3 and using Avalon Organics Sensitive Skin serum (it has almost the same ingredients as their vit. C serum, down to order, except it costs $3 less) and the combination is working AMAZINGLY for shrinking my cystic zits!
Worst: Ah, I’ve been so tired lately, I fell asleep in my makeup while taking a short break from writing my last poli essay, and the other night I fell asleep while relaxing with a My Beauty Diaries sheet mask and ended up waking up 2.5 hours later to find the thing had glued itself dry to my face LOL…
.-= Catherine’s last blog post… Product Focus: Laura Mercier Stickgloss =-.
Ellie says
I need more Sunday too!
Best: My acne-prone chin is resolving itself- I guess that would be from going dairy-free!
Worst: I still haven’t done my nails and they need a little TLC! Guess I have to wait till after finals.
Karen B says
Best: discovering that the Clinique 3-step skin care for dry skin awesome is for my skin 🙂
Worst: I hate plucking my eyebrows so they’re looking a bit… I need to get them done asap.
.-= Karen B’s last blog post… Friday Fame =-.
Aisha says
hey karen 🙂
best: my eyebrows look perfect that to the too faced eye-brow kit
worst: i got a sunburn
hey karen,a quick question, sinse summer is around the corner….can you do a mega post on sunscreen. in texas its getting hot and its only about to be spring! please,a fellow beauty [sunburned] addict in need.
Lizz says
best: discovering that i can wear a darker shade of blush, and that it looks more natural on me.
worst: alas, the mac compact mineralize foundation. i usually have an almost flawless skin, but right now it seems like my forehead has exploded, or something… i like the 130 brush, though.
Jen says
Best: rediscovered Diorshow Iconic. I have too much mascara, ugh.
Worst: I fail in the exercise and eat right department too. I haven’t exercised in two weeks, and all I’ve been doing is pigging out on junk foods. So bad.
mill says
best- testing the Viva Glam Gaga lipstick in MAC today and LOVING IT- im gonna go buy it as soon as i have a chance!!!
worst- still using up last little bits of cleansers/ shampoos lying around in my bathroom, and my skin is yoyoing because of it 😐
also, my ‘one’ and ‘exclamation point’ key on my laptop DOES NOT work!!!!! i have to copy and paste them to use them “$
Sarah says
Best – I got a long overdue haircut/refresh of highlights and so my roots are finally gone! Also, while I was at the salon, I met a woman that works in the field I’m interested in and she loved me, so I’m hoping that might help me get a foot in the door…
Worst – I got bangs and am still struggling with how to blow dry them. Also, my hair isn’t bobbed anymore and I have to figure out how to blow dry that as well.
Basically, I have very limited hair skills, and by changing my hair slightly, I’m back at square one.
Rita says
The best was that I checked out a new cosmetic line/shop, Inglot Cosmetics. They have a really good selection of eyeshadows, and they seem to be very pigmented. I did not go crazy though, I only bought a lip pencil at first. Later I had a look at MUA, and it seems that Inglot is quite unknown internationally, only here in Europe, and in Canada and Australia, I guess. The reviews were controversial. I wonder if Inglot is worth buing?
Worst: winter’s back again! My sensitive skin does not like it.
Anna says
Inglot is a polish brand and it’s been on the market for 25 years now. We call it ”polish MAC” as the amount and variety of colours is similar to MAC. They’re good quality and value too but sometimes they might seem too intense if put on with aplicator and not blended with brush. Overall – worth trying out as in UK Pro 5 Pallete (a black magnetic, mirrored casette with a choice of 5 eyeshadows of your choice) is only £15.00 so it can’t be too expensive in USA either. EnKore did a good video on NYC’s Inglot store too 🙂

Add my name to the Sunday Extension petition……I think it was because of the SPRING FORWARD and setting the clocks ahead…..I hate it when I have to give UP an hour of sleep, even for the expense of more daylight…….
my beauty BEST – finding my new “favorite” blush……Shell Pearl beauty powder from MAC……shhhh, don’t tell my Benefit SUGARBOMB……
my beauty WORST – falling asleep on Friday night and forgetting to take off my makeup. I awoke on Saturday with BLECHY skin!! I seriously need a facial…..
Scientific Housewife says
My best beauty experience was going to MAC and having the lady go through 7 different lipstick/lip liner combinations to find the perfect shade to wear in bridesmaid pictures 🙂
The worst beauty experience was starting a new Clinique moisturizer and realizing it makes my face really oily.
NINA says
BEST — Uhm MUFE Blushes. Enuff said. 😉
WORST — I think I was blessed this week, because I cannot think of a bad beauty experience …. I hope the good luck continues! 😉
Happy Monday, Karen!
Frances says
Best: I had a great weekend for picking up make up! I got Chanel Rouge Coco lipstick in Cameille (such a pretty pink), MAC minerlaize blush in Rhapsody in Two, MAC creemsheens in Delight and Over Indulgence, MUFE HD concealer (what dark circles?), NARS highlighter in Albatross, and a bronzer that doesn’t make me look muddy or orange!
Worst – I could seriously use a mani/pedi and the blemish from last weekend still hasn’t completely gone!
Toni says
Yes, I need a Sunday extension too! This time change thing always messes me up!
Best: Rediscovering the Smashbox eyeshadow duo in the bottom of my makeup drawer. Forgot how smooth it is and how easy it is to blend. Love it!
Worst: I broke my no-buy for Lent and bought MAC Liberty of London eyeshadows in Give Me Liberty of London and Bough Grey. Serves me right for breaking my no-buy – neither one of them looked good on me at all. In fact, the pink color turned orange on me.
amy says
Best: Picked up some goodies from the Give Me Liberty of London collection
Worst: I still want more stuff

Hi Karen – Do you make all of the illustrations for this site yourself? They’re beautiful!
Deconstruction says
The Good: My skin felt so smooth — probably due to my recent at-home sensitive skin peel.
The Bad: My hairdryer decided to die.
The Ugly: What my hair looks like now that I don’t have a dryer!

Best: Realizing that I’ve developed the good habit of exercising daily.
Worst: Noticing the difference in my hair since “The change of life” and not knowing what to do with this mass of cotton candy that was once my pretty hair.
yvonne medrano says
your blog is great i love the plumeria flowers on the picture. any advice for a beginner beauty blogger?

Best: my skin looks like its finally clearing up and im going for a facial tomorrow!
Worst: i havent shaved my legs in a while and they look absolutely horrific
Lana says
Best? The super simple look I did last night for a stay in date with a new beau. Simple, but luminous.
Worst? I got a virus last week (for the second time in three weeks) and it’s held my skin as a POW. Three blemishes showed up and they are all the kind that take forever to go away. 🙁
Steph B says
I’ll take a Sunday extension — I was visiting family in NY.
Best: Getting my styling sampler from Naturally Curly Solutions. Have loved Curl Keeper, ReMane Straight, and the Leave-In conditioner so far. Makes my hair soft and frizz-free whether I wear it curly or straight.
Worst: My 7 month old nephew had some trouble sleeping last night. Which meant none of us got our beauty sleep. The bags under my eyes are not pretty, but worth it for time with the little guy.
Instant Karma (formerly L) says
Worst: URG I have stress zits from a few days ago. Also, I’m visiting friends this week in New York and the torrential downpour that was this weekend made my wavy hair a little frizzy.
Best: Truth be told, this was a bad beauty week. I acquired no new fun products and my skin and hair have been misbehaving, so it’s difficult to think of any beauty pluses to this week. I’m going to go with…at no point this week was I on fire. Yeeeeah.
Alice says
BEST: my skin is behaving very well lately. I’ts clear, it’s extremely soft and smooth! I don’t know what made the difference though. Also, I had a lot of fun going to MAC and Sephora, even if I didn’t buy anything!
WORST: Not waiting enough to let my red nailpolish dry –> ruined manicure, GRRR!
barbara says
BEST: OPI RapiDry Top Coat is changing my life one fingernail at a time…i changed my mani three times already this week as a result of lightning-speed drying time.
WORST: finding out my free gift with purchase (korres sugar crystal antioxidant treatment) is not a lip exfoliant…i was bummed…my lips are chapped and i need more than the homemade brown sugar scrub!
