Oh, wow. In 50 years, if I actually make it that far, I’ll be 90, holy $h*t!!! Baby Girl will be the age I am right now, and not so much a baby anymore, aww. Shoot, if I’m still blogging at that time, I hope Baby Girl won’t mind if her mom borrows her MAC Lady Danger every once in a while. 🙂
So, popular makeup looks and styles in 50 years? Hmm… I’m thinking that people will still be wearing the things that are considered classics now — red lips, winged liner, smoky eyes. Those three comprise a timeless makeup trifecta right there!
How about you? What makeup looks and styles can you see still being popular in 50 years?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Trends come and go but a classic look like bare or pale eyes, black liner and red lips will always be around.

Ah Lady Danger! I first experienced her in a MAC lip palette. I fell in love and had to buy the bullet. LOVE! Wear her almost every day!

I think the basic black smokey eye will definitely still be around… I can’t imagine that ever falling out of fashion! I bet some form of the red lip will be around, too. If we were talking about hair – man, that would be another matter entirely! Who even KNOWS what hair trends will be like in 50 years. I feel like that’s a vein of beauty that’s incredibly hard to predict!

I’d say, the no-makeup look (very nude eyes, cheeks and lips), the smoky eye, and the black liner + red lips look.

Dear Karen, what did you use on your face makeup? It looks great, matte but lively !:)
Iris says
I agree. I see red lips and smokey eyes still be used 50 years from now.
TGIF, indeed!

My Mom did a mean cat eyes back in the day and she still wears one occasionally and she’s in her 70’s! I agree red and nude lips will always be in style. Don’t count on baby girl being a makeup lover, kids do their own thing. Despite my makeup obsession my daughter is a natural girl. I have to remind her to wear a “just a little lipgloss” lol.

There is NO WAY you’re 40! You look stunning here! What foundation are you using in this picture?
Love your blog 🙂

Hi Karen, I can picture you and your daughter trading makeup tips when you’re well into your 90’s! That would be hilarious. You look stunning by the way with your bright red lipstick and flawless foundation!
Erin says
I agree with you, Karen! I also think the No-makeup makeup look will be in too.
Diana says
Maybe no-makeup makeup, smoky eye, and bright lipstick will still be in in the future! You and your daughter may share makeup lol.

I think the classic pin up look with black cat wing eyeliner and red lips will still be around. The natural look seems to never go away. I think smokey eyes will still be around in 50 years.

Lots of looks will come and go between now and then, but I agree, black liner & a red lip will always be around. Also, no-makeup makeup looks and probably something with glitter or pearlesence every now and then. Love your look, so chic!
Kiss & Make-up says
Red lips, retro eyeliner and classic smokey eyes will probably never go out of style.
Ericca says
I think the classics are here to stay, it will be in the way we apply it that’s different. The technology of makeup will change
Bella says
Definitely not contouring, overly obvious strobing and Instagram brows.

I think smoky eyes will always be popular.
Katie says
I think smokey eyes, neutral pink and red lipstick, winged liner will all still be fashionable. Also nude lips too, they’ve always been popular, just with different finishes, depths, and undertones. I’m interested to see what version of nude lips becomes popular next!

I’m over 55 and have seen makeup trends for a long time. The only thing I think will be around for sure is red lipstick. Everything else is a fad that will come & go and then come & go again — smoky eye, bold eyebrows, thin eyebrows, cat eye liner, natural look, shiny lips, matte lips. In 50 years, who knows!
Astrild says
I’m sure red lips will be on trend forever.
