Do You Wear Bright Colors (Makeup and/or Clothes) to School or Work?

March 6th, 2014 by Karen 24 Comments

Hey, girl, HEY! Let’s wear some brights today…

Oh, yeah! I wear bright colors to work all the time (but I know that doesn’t exactly count)! I do feel, though, that I have to be in the right mindset to wear certain colors, if that makes any sense.

Colors are so expressive, aren’t they? Depending on how I feel, sometimes I think I unconsciously seek out colors that fit my mood, especially when it comes to clothes and makeup.

Bright

I love brights! With makeup, like when I’m feeling really happy and jazzed about sitting down at my chair to work, I notice myself reaching for bright, cheerful pink or orange lipsticks — things like that — whereas when I’m feeling “blue” (ha!) or run down or just not really in the mood to work (also known as “dealing with Tabs’ crazy”), I usually won’t want to wear something bright or intense. Definitely no intense blue eye looks or neon pink lips.

I guess I wear my heart on my sleeve because you can usually tell how I’m feeling based on what I’m wearing that day.

As for clothing, yes, I do like wearing bright clothes, especially dresses, to work, but I don’t do it as often as I wear bright makeup.

What can I say? I wear a ton of black! Sometimes I feel like a New Yorker trapped in a California girl’s body. Black clothes are just so easy, chic, and you don’t really have to think about things too hard… Plus, black is slimming and hides the cat fur. πŸ™‚ Lots of positives.

I do love my bright accessories, though. Gimme a pair of hot pink shoes, a teal bib necklace or some yellow dangly earrings, and I’m a happy girl. But again, I feel the same way about bright accessories as I feel about bright makeup and clothes. It depends on my mindset or mood.

So, yes! To make a short answer really, really long…I love wearing bright makeup and clothes to work.

How about you? Do you wear bright colors (makeup and/or clothes) to school or work?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I adore my bright clothes and makeup!! AND–I wear them to work. I do tone the makeup down a smidge for work by only wearing a pop of bright eyeshadow but I rock crazy bright lipstick all the time. My co-workers and “customers” have rather come to expect it and ask me if I am ill if I don’t. They say it perks up their day. I always joke, “I am not the smartest, but I am always bright.”

In general .. no as I’m more of a conservative type. I do like my neutral eyes and maybe a brighter lip.

I like to wear bright makeup and shoes with my outfits (which are typically fairly chill). Bright pink lip stick and bright yellow shoes is a current fave of mine. Today and yesterday I decided no color of lips would do other than a nice bright raspberry pink.

In the past I used to wear bright eye shadows (specifically gradient style colors) and then minimal lips, but now I’m on a huge lip kick, so it’s the other way around right now.

I totally wear bright colors to the university whenever I feel like it. Just yesterday I wore a gold, copper and red sunset look on my eyes, and today I wore bright red-orange lipstick. I don’t see very many people wearing makeup like that around me, but it doesn’t matter to me because makeup is a way for me to express myself and it makes me feel great! When I’ve done something especially bright or unusual it makes me feel like I’m wearing a work of art.

When I worked in the real world, I didn’t know my internal love of color. However I’d still wear a ton of black clothing. Some things will never change! I like the idea that I can be “a New Yorker trapped in a [Florida] girl’s body” though πŸ™‚ I think if I ever go back to the real world, I will wear more color. Especially bolder lips.

Eep! As much as I love to play around with colour, the answer is, unfortunately: nope, never. They’re so beautiful, but so “look at me,” you know? I love my dark, desaturated tones… and the extra few minutes of sleep I can get by wearing only “no makeup” makeup! πŸ˜›

Heck yes I wear brights to work. It’s my personality and style so I can rock a lime green shirt with turquoise pants and still maintain professionalism by turning down everything else – makeup, accessories, etc. same goes with wearing bright makeup. People would call me eccentric though so perhaps I am able to pull it off at work more so than others.

Clothes yes, makeup no. That’s because I’m still unsure of my makeup sk1llz, and I don’t want to risk looking like a clown. But bright clothes, my gosh, yes. I am SO tired of black and grey. My winter coat is bright red, and my transition coat is bright turquoise. Picks me right up on a cold, foggy winter day, I tell you.

I hardly wear bright coloured clothes, but bright make-up? YES! I love a good bright pink or fire engine red with my black/grey/white outfits :). Or an apple green bag :D!

I’m too shy to wear eye makeup more than mascara, but I always wear bold lipstick (either it’s dark or bright) to work. Nobody sees what I’m wearing because I wear doctor’s coat all the time at work (only the bottom and shoes are shown).

I love wearing at least one bright (or deep, think jewel-tone) colour in my outfit or makeup every day. I wear a lot of navy blue, which is handy for adding a shot of red or emerald green or fuchsia! Could be makeup, accessories or clothes, just so long as it’s bright!

In the summer, definitely! Love bright colored dresses for summer (actually just ordered a yellow one! Perfect with a cardigan for work). In the winter I wear a lot of grey, black, navy…
