Happy anniversary, Proctor & Gamble! You don’t look a day over 175. 🙂
This year Proctor & Gamble celebrates its 175th anniversary.
That’s a lotta makeup and beauty!
With brands like Covergirl, Olay and Pantene on their team, they’ve helped millions of men and women create some of the hottest beauty looks over 17 decades.
Gosh, I’ve used so many of their brands…
My mom always wore (and still wears) Olay moisturizers. Funny story — a couple years ago she called me from vacation in Hawaii just to tell me that she was really upset because the TSA confiscated her bottle of Olay moisturizer at the airport. The moment she and my dad landed, the first place they went was a grocery store, so that Mom could pick up another bottle.
Ha! That’s totally something I would do. Sometimes the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. 🙂
Covergirl’s perfume, Navy, was my jam back in high school, and I always kept a Covergirl Lipslick in my backpack.
Oh, and Pantene! One whiff of their shampoos and conditioners brings me back to my college days…
I bet you’ve got some memories with these brands, too.
The P&G Time Capsule!
Check out this video that showcases the major beauty trends over the decades in under 1.3 minutes. Fun!
This year, P&G beauty is celebrating both past and present beauty innovations with a time capsule, into which they’ll stow some of your favorite beauty products and other can’t-live-without 2013 items. The time capsule will then be locked away in the P&G vault to be opened 25 years from now in the year 2038.
Make your voice heard! Vote for which products you want to include in the time capsule on Proctor & Gamble’s Style United Facebook page now.
To kick off P&G’s 175th anniversary with a bang, I’ve partnered with them on a mid-week giveaway. Win, and you’ll take home this gift basket stuffed with P&G goodies from Herbal Essences, Aussie, Olay, Covergirl, Venus, Secret and Pantene. A $66.79 value.

Ohh, what a fun prize! Pick me 🙂 I remember when I first started coming to the US and discovered Cover Girl, I fell in love with their mascaras and blushes since they are not available in Europe. My bff always asks me to bring her some Cover Girl goodies when I go back to Poland.

Last holiday season, while trying to resist the siren call of Chanel Vernis malice, I discovered CoverGirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss in Forever Festive. I was impressed by the staying power of this shade and got compliments on my pedi whenever I went out. People were out and out shocked when I told them it was a Covergirl product- it looks very luxe and sophisticated to rival fashion house brands of lacquer!

yay! thanks for an opportunity to win goodies, karen and tabs! *sigh* i would love to splurge on high end moisturizers and skin care, but i figured, “olay has been around FOREVER. and it’s a decent price point. i’m not too good for that!” so i use olay as my moisturizer. it has spf, and i can get a good deal at ulta when they have sales and coupons! plus, i don’t have to hunt for it, in case it gets confiscated by TSA, like in your mom’s instance, or if i run out.
have a lovely thursday!

Hey, Karen! Happy B-day! Idk if my post on your facebook got posted on your b-day…(Raluca Fawkes).
Well, I really hate harem pants, especially the type that has been so in over here-with a ton of flowers. I also dislike capri pants because they’re so unflattering. Regarding beauty trends, I really hate the huge brow trend(they look horrible and manly) and the bleached brow trend(luckily, this one isn’t found on regular folks), especially when that person has dark hair…
I also hate this whole tanning a lot/fake tanning trend, it looks bad. Everybody looks better with their own color, pale or dark.
Well, I shave with Gillette razors. I wish we had covergirl here….I got a shimmery cherry red lipgloss from my counsin years ago and loved it.
Kim says
I remember when Aussi first hit our shelves. Everyone used it (but I thought it was called Scrunch Spray, back in the day). I loved the grape scent. Or at least I thought it smelled like grape. 🙂
Maggie says
My absolute must-have is the Venus Razor! Growing up, I would secretly use my sisters Venus Razor any time I could because I couldn’t bare to use any other kind and didn’t have the money to purchase my own *Sigh*. Sigh!! What wouldn’t i do to win that basket! Anyway, I’ve been a huge fan of Herbal essences so much so that I bug my aunt from the US to get me my much used Mousse and Gel for Curly Hair from the US. Also one of the first blushers I used was from Covergirl. It was my mom’s and she had picked up a few of them when she had gone on a trip abroad. My all time favourite is the Plumberry Glow blush from Covergirl! Although I don’t see most of the brands mentioned above in stores here, I try and get them for myself by bugging relatives abroad since they work well for me!! Phew now that was long!!

I love historical makeup videos! I went to the Hollywood Museum in Hollywood last week and they have a video of the history of makeup and it’s so interesting that Max Factor changed the name of cosmetics to makeup and some men in the 1920s divorced their wives because they began wearing makeup.

My fondest (or maybe my most missed product) from P&G is still the original Herbal Essences shampoo, conditioner, and body powder that they made in the early ’70’s. Yes, I am THAT old! That is all I used back in those free-wheeling, hippie days when I met my husband and he STILL occasionally asks me why I stopped using those products (he had a mild stroke a few years back and doesn’t always remember that I have told him that they are long DC’d after 41 years!). All that he can remember is the awesome herbal scent that we both loved and how beautiful and shiny they kept my hair! I truly wish that they had brought this particular line back when they re-booted Herbal Essences recently. I will never forget it, and I even have an original bottle of the body powder with the dreamy flower-child girl on the front to this day that I cannot bring myself to part with! I don’t use it, of course, (much too old!), but once in a while, I will sneak it open and just sniff it to bring back that wonderful time in our lives when we were so very much in love (we still are!), so fresh and new, and thought that we could change the world; yes, it’s fainter now, but the fragrance is still there! Thank you so much, Karen, for prompting this beautiful memory, as well as this awesome giveaway!
Colleen Boudreau says

Belinda says
The CoverGirl LashBlast mascara was my first mascara, if not makeup item I ever purchased. I bought it when I was about 13, when applying mascara was my “makeup routine”. 🙂
As someone who suffered from acne growing up, I am so happy to say that I am now comfortable wearing sheer coverage foundation (like a bb cream). I adore tarte products, especially the tinted primer. I just wish that the color range was improved….the light it too light for me and the medium is too dark 🙁
Luckily, I am moving back to California after living in New Jersey for five years. I am hoping that the increase in sun exposure (with sunscreen on of course!) will give me slight tan, and I can wear the medium tone primer!
great giveaway!
xoxo

Cover Girl was the first ever makeup brand I used. I still have their eyelash curler that I purchased back in 1992!

Soo, this may be TMI, but, secret clinical strength has been a life changer for me!
I’ve struggled with super sweaty pits (lol) all my life, so much so I had to wear black hoodies all the time, to try and conceal it. It made me seriously miserable. Like, crying to my mom miserable. The only “cure” is getting Botox shots in my pits, but I can’t afford it. Secret clinical strength, makes it sooo much More bearable! It doesn’t stop the sweat completely (which is good, since some sweat it normal), but it allows me to wear any cute girly tips I want to, which has booster my confidence Buttloads! The only downside is its a bit pricey, but it’s honestly a small price to pay for freedom! I would love to win this! Sorry for such a long comment, lol. Thanks for considering me 🙂
