Two Ways to Win 2 Pieces of MAC Peacocky Makeup

December 25th, 2010 by Karen 440 Comments

  • WINNER: The giveaway is closed now, and the winner is Scientific Housewife! Congratulations, Scientific Housewife! If you entered but didn’t win this time around, keep trying, and click here to enter any ongoing giveaways before you jet. 🙂

Heya, ladies. Do you ever wonder what Christmas is like in Australia? If you live there, please leave a comment and let me know, because I often wonder about it. I mean, this is the middle of your summertime, right? Do you guys decorate Christmas trees? 🙂

In Hawaii, some folks decorate the coconut trees in their front yards, but most people either decorate fake trees, or they buy regular pine trees that come shipped over from the mainland (and consequently cost about twice as much as ours do here).

I remember one December when we were visiting my in-laws in Hawaii we woke up on Christmas morning to find a peacock chilling in the back of my father-in-law’s pickup truck. Now that’s something you don’t see every Christmas. Tabs would have thought, “WOW! Is that for ME?!”

Speaking of peacocks, the brand spankin’ new MAC Peacocky collection of 15 Mega Metal Eyeshadows and 12 Kissable Lipcolours will strut onto counters, eyes and lips on January 6, but here’s a sneak peek: two eye-popping brights from the release — the bold, shimmery teal Odalisque Mega Metal Shadow and the creamy blueish pink Vanity Fair Kissable Lipcolour.

Gorgeous, right?

You know what time it is. 🙂

A Makeup and Beauty Blog Giveaway!

Win a MAC Brush Collection Set

  • One (1) tube of MAC Peacocky Kissable Lipcolour in Vanity Fair and (1) pan of MAC Peacocky Mega Metal Shadow in Odalisque (a $38 value).

  • There are two ways to enter, and you can do both of them for two chances to win. First, you can enter by leaving a comment at the bottom of this post, a comment about anything at all. Tell me about one of your holiday traditions, how you feel about pajamas, what yummy treats you’ve been enjoying this week, or describe what you felt was the best gift you gave this year.
  • Second, you can enter by following me on twitter Twitter @karenmbb and retweeting (RT) the following message:
    • Follow @karenmbb and RT to Win 2 Pieces of MAC Peacocky Makeup (a $38 Value) http://bit.ly/fXNxHQ

  • The deadline to enter is Monday, December 27, 2010 at 11:59PM (PT).
  • Entrants must enter using a valid email address and/or Twitter account to win.
  • A maximum of two (2) entries per person — one within the comments at the bottom of this post, and a second entry via Twitter addressed to me @karenmbb.
  • Contest is open to individuals of any country who have reached the age of majority according to their local laws (18 in the United States with these exceptions: Alabama and Nebraska, 19; Mississippi, 21).
  • Tabs and I (heretofore referred to as “T-Money and K-Dawg”) will select one (1) winner at random from the entries either left in the comments at the bottom of this blog post or addressed to @karenmbb on Twitter.
  • The winner will be announced here within 48 hours of the deadline.
  • Void where prohibited by law.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I grew up in South Africa and Christmas is hot hot HOT! I could never understand roast turkeys, hot mulled cider etc, often we had cold cuts and salads as Christmas lunch – and then a swim afterwards – a welcome, cool treat!

In Malaysia, where I come from, they use fake trees that last a long, long time 🙂 Every year you set it up and then you put it away afterward. The best part about living in a multi-racial country is that the shops are always open. If it’s Christmas, the people who don’t celebrate it work instead. So although I don’t celebrate Christmas, I remember it as the best time to go to the malls and pick up some good bargains 🙂

I spent my Christmas two years ago in Melbourne in Aussie! It was really REALLY surreal! Honestly! We landed on Christmas day and the sun was beating down! There weren’t any REAL Christmas trees outside shopping malls and such because apparently it’s too hot! And then we had a BBQ and were served Pavlova by our friendly hosts! It was the most unChristmassy Christmas I’ve ever had!! But it was absolutely lovely to be basking in the warmth after half freezing to death in the UK!

Hope you’re having a great Christmas day!

Holla from Hawaii! Just once, I’d like to spend Christmas somewhere cold, where it snows… just so I can have the experience. Just once!

It was a bright sunny day here, and a little humid… We used to buy a Christmas tree when I was younger, but then we got lovebirds and now we have a dog, so we don’t bother anymore. I have a small fake tree but I didn’t even take it out and decorate it this year… sad.

Hope you’re have an awesome Christmas, Karen!

The best Christmas tradition ever is that my mom makes the best sweet rolls Christmas morning and we stay in our PJ’s all day. Anyone that comes over has to be in their pajamas tooo so it’s a big party all day. Even after i got married we try to keep that tradition alive.

Everything shuts down in the Philippines during Christmas eve/day. Malls and stores close early (some stores even cease operation for two days), heck even Starbucks closes early! Everywhere you look is a ghost town. haha! But it’s cool, though. The traffic becomes so much more pleasant when everyone’s in their homes anticipating the last few minutes till Christmas day. Gotta love Noche Buena despite losing sleep. I don’t think I’ll ever trade it for anything. Being with your family — aunts, uncles, cousins and your fiance included — has got to be the best thing about Christmas. Wining these Peacocky items will certainly be the icing on the cake!

Merry Christmas Karen and Tabs from the Philippines!

How about a post about holiday traditions, how I feel about pajamas AND what yummy treats I’ve been enjoying this week? Because my family’s holiday tradition includes being able to get up as early as we want to open our stockings (which usually includes some sort of chocolate treat), but then we aren’t allowed to start unwrapping the big presents under the tree until EVERYONE in the family is out of their pajamas and into “day” clothes, eaten and brushed their teeth and everything. As a kid it drove me nutters, just waiting because I swear my parents took it slow on purpose 😀

My Christmas consists of putting up all of the decorations the day after Thanksgiving, and then getting to work planning the Christmas menu. We sit around the house for an afternoon and look through countless recipe books to find the perfect things to cook. We make a couple of new dishes, and the following weekend on the Saturday, we make 1,000 tortellini by hand (we’re in like 20) and the Sunday, we go hear the Messiah up in San Francisco at the Symphony. That week, we cook non-stop until Christmas eve, where we have an entire menu consisting of plates made with fish and then when it’s 12, we go and open presents and we pass them out and watch everyone’s reactions. Everyone leaves at around 3 AM and then they come back at 2:30 the next day for Christmas lunch where we have the menu made of only meat plates and we use our new presents, and just have a great time until we have to clean up 🙂

I’m from Canada and this was my second Christmas in Australia, and it is DIFFERENT! First of all, no snow, WTF? There are still lots of winter-themed decorations everywhere which I seem to be alone in finding completely hilarious. The whole thing seems a lot less commercial than what I’m used to in Canada which is nice, and people do have barbeques on Christmas and go swimming and stuff, it’s weird!

    Heya from Australia!
Yes, we spend our Christmas in stinking hot summer with full o flies, but this year, the weather was unusually cool. Even though we eat different food (BBQ and Seafood as another Aussie mentioned before), but the spirit is the same.. Spend the day with family and stuff yourself with food until you can’t move 🙂

Another Aussie here! I don’t know why everyone is saying all Aussies have a BBQ – not true!!

My mother is a real traditionalist so we have turkey and pudding every year – mind you we are a Greek family so it’s always 40 people with turkey, lamb and pork. Plus loads of roast potatoes, Greek dips, spinach pie, salads, etc.
Oh and in my family we always have more desserts than ‘real’ food!

I’m from Melbourne (city on the south-east coast) and usually it’s not stinking hot (yet!) in December but this year was unusually cool – summer doesn’t seem to have kicked in yet!

I have lived in the UK too and I can assure you weather aside it’s the same thing – decorate real/fake trees, put loads of lights on the outside of your house and stuff yourself so full of food and alcohol that you can’t move!

I got an amazing present this year – A BRIGHT RED KITCHEN AID!!! Still excited!!!!

    Hi Karen!

Awesome prizes.. My heart skipped a beat from this collection. Or maybe just because MAC Cosmetics are very addictive hehe.

I found the Christmas spirit in my family this year: I’ve been sick a lot the past few years and found out earlier this year what made me sick: severe cat allergy (I have 2 cats, one of them could be T-Moneys bro), caseine & soy intolerance.. (oh the irony, I was a vegetarian for 3 years until I found out lol). All these years I wished for better health and I finally got it this year! Meds for the allergy and 3 months milk & soy free and I’m feeling so much better.
I love that almost everywhere we eat (christmas of regular dinners) people try to prepare a meal I that doesn’t make me sick. I don’t want them to go through the hassle but I appreciate it a lot. It always feels like a burden but it seems most of the people just feel sorry I can’t eat all the chocolates, sweets, sauces, cheese ‘n stuff. Oh man do I miss cheese.. nom nom.

It warms my heart we all take care of each other 🙂 really didn’t expect that people don’t find me a pain in the ass as their table guest.

Awesome contest Karen! We’re expecting SNOW here today–they’re calling for between 8-14 inches between Sunday and Monday. YAY, the dog will be in tundra-heaven!!

I’ve been enjoying lots of SWEET treats….yesterday was a DESSERT-fest at my cousin’s house. Lots of goodies were brought home.

Usually, I love my PJ’s, but having an internal heating system (a baby in my belly) makes me really HOT right now, so it’s tanks and shorts to sleep in!

Usually we used to spend Christmas Eve (24th) with close family (that’s the main event here in Hungary), then next day travel to my grandparents, sleep there, have a huge dinner and breakfast the next morning, then on the 26th, we’d go visit my other grandparents on our way home. We’re a small country, so the one of them lives 3hours away by car, the other only like half an hour, but families here usually rather go to visit each other, then all gather at one place (not many of us have enough space to do that anyways, I guess).
Nowadays, my grandma is alone, so she moved closer to us and is now celebrating 24th with us, so the Christmas Saga is now only 2 days long. As a result, I end up in pyjamas all day long on the 26th, eating Christmas leftovers from all around 🙂 Hey, I wanted to go have a run, but it’s been snowing and really cold! 🙂
    Merry Holidays, Karen!

I do not like Christmas because I am in mourning and that it’s hard to be positive since losing my best friend. But I say a little makeup can not hurt me. I try to be positive by watching eyes of my cousins shine when they open their gifts. That’s what makes me most happy, see my family happy. (I follow you on twitter as the Elodienosore).

I was in Australia in 2000 during Christmas. I remember there being a giant Christmas tree (about 3 storeys high maybe) in a square right outside my hotel window. It wasn’t freezing cold or snowy white, but the air was cool and people were gathered in the square counting down to Christmas. That was at Gold Coast.

As a tradition my family and I always go to Carmel, California to get us in the Chritmas mood, we make sure to watch Love Actually before Christmas day, bake cookies on Christmas Eve, and wakeup open up all of the presents then have a VERY fattening breakfast, (we had cinnamon roles this year, I had three, oops, couldn’t control myself ;)). My moms birthday is also on Christmas so we make sure to make her a cake and make Christmas feel special for her. Hope you’re having a great Holiday Karen! 🙂

I used to live down under.. NZ though. same difference.. and yes.. we do have Christmas trees.. for a few years, we used the evergreen conifer trees that grew in our back yard.. until Mum got sick of cleaning the carpet every few days! lol.. then graduated to a fake huge green one. But yes, its the middle of our summer.. so we’d be eating our posicles and swatting flies while decorating the tree! we would however still have a roast turkey for dinner. some things dont change right?

for us kids, Christmas meant our end of year break.. so we’d get about 2 months off before the next year started in feb. thats 2 months of beach trips, going swimming and riding our bikes! I’ve haven’t till date seen a white Christmas and its on my list of things to do 😀 lol..

This year Christmas was amazing 🙂 Since I was born in Poland, we have a bunch of Polish traditions 🙂 like having 12 different types of food on the table, or breaking of the oplatek with everyone while wishing them something nice and pleasant, Oplatek is like a thin wafer made of water and flour, this is done at the beginning before we eat, and it’s one of the most important traditions. I’ve been enjoying amazing polish food this week but there’s waaaay too much to list. This year Christmas was amazing!!! 🙂 I’m so thankful for everything!!!

Tradition: Well, firstly, as I’m Hungarian, we get our gifts on Christmas Eve, and not Santa brings the goodies to us, but “Little Jesus” (good old Santa takes a visit to us on 6th December :D). But as for family traditions, we bring grandpa to our place on Christmas Eve… and I decorate the tree, while my grandpa, my dad and my brother watch sports on TV (usually some winter sports like skiing, ski jumping or ice hockey)… and when it comes to gifting, we play aroud with sparklers and we sing (with our non-existent singing voices :D).
Pajamas: A must have for me! I don’t care if they aren’t hot or sexy enough, I need to wear pj’s (or at least a tee and some really comfy bottoms) at night. I even got a pair for Christmas… it’s really cute-light gray and maroonish purple and the bottom has a polka dot-alike pattern, while the top has a bow on it :).
Food: well, well, well… I’ve been a bit under the weather lately, so I only got to eat proper food yesterday, because I didn’t feel like eating at all for 3 consecutive days… yesterday we went to our cousins’ place… and… all the meals were really yummy… but if I have to choose, I’m gonna go with the chocolate-orange cake. Yum!
Best gift I gave. Well, my mum has wanted a brush for marinating meat but she always forgot, so I got her one, and she was really happy for it since she didn’t expect it :). Also, I haven’t given out this gift yet, but I’m sure my best friend would LOVE this… I mean, she’s a chemist and she LOVES chemistry… so I got her a test tube with a holder, and I’m gonna fill it in with some really fragrant and cool bathing salt :D.

I tried leaving a comment with my iPhone the other day, but I don’t think it posted, as it came out differently than every other time I’ve done it. I really hope this isn’t a disqualifying double post. It is cold, I’ve been working since five am, and would love to win something!!

I just bought some cotton PJs from Victorias Secret and they are so soft and warm (without being hot)- love them. Also, made Egg Nog Custard Pie, which is always a winner in my heart.

My first time entering, mostly because I have never had MAC makeup until my friend who works at the MAC counter gave me a generous sample of NC15 Pro Longwear foundation,.. it is amazing, Now I am itching to try other MAC products. Can’t hurt to give it a shot!

For Christmas my sister gave me my first piece of MAC makeup. A duo eyeshadow. She knows how much I love it, but don’t have the money to pay for expensive makeup. I am pretty sure that I will be wearing that eyeshadow every day until it is all gone! Thank you Rachy!

My favorite pj’s – my ex’s high school basketball shorts & his old work tee. Who knew that I’d be more comfortable and more “me” in his old clothes than I ever was with him? Oh, maybe that’s the reason he’s my “ex”. LOL

Wow. These are gorgeous colors. I’ve been a little disappointed with the last few lines MAC has released but these gorgeous bright colors are just what the doctor ordered to bring us into 2011, happier times, and a better economy. Happy Holidays to all and a big thank you Karen for making the year fun reading your blog and for having all these giveaways.

I still am confused as to how to do your retweets because generally, if someone says to retweet about the contest, I would just push the retweet button from their twitter site but when you say to address it to you, that’s when I get a little confused. So I think I attempted 3 retweets. I’m hoping one of those I did correctly but please omit any retweets I did except for the one entry. One of the retweets I did can be found at this link as follows:
    http://twitter.com/DianeLori/status/19577922847252480
Another link to the retweet is as follows:
    http://twitter.com/karenmbb/status/18816725055176704

Please don’t disqualify me for tweeting or retweeting several times. I was just trying to figure out how to do it, NOT to get extra entries.

Happy Holidays and thank you for making 2010 a little more fun by entertaining us with your blog and your giveaways.

I also retweeted about the contest using this link as follows:

OK so that’s 3 tweets with the 2 I listed in the last comment. However as I stated, please omit all but one and maybe you can tell me which one I did correctly so I wont have this problem in the future. Thanks again

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my two-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my cat (Tabs).
