OK, I don’t really know how to start this blog post, because what woman in her right mind admits to the Interwebz that she has nose hairs, but whatever — here goes!
I am about 20 years away from becoming a full-on Sasquatch.
Seriously.
One day El Hub is going to wake up and find Mrs. Chewbacca sleeping next to him. (Part of me believes that he would think he had won the lottery if this happened because he is a HUGE Star Wars fan, haha.)
Anyway, I’m getting hairier, and I have concrete evidence to support this, because one day not long ago I was looking at a bunch of pictures that I had just taken for the blog, and I noticed — ruh-roh! — that in all of the pics in which I was smiling, the hairs in my left nostril were totally poking out.
Now, they weren’t long enough to braid or anything (OMG!), but I could definitely see little hairs poking out in all their nose hair glory.
(I’m convinced that there is some kind of correlation between smiling and nose hair visibility…)
Because I know myself, and I know that if I get anything sharp like regular scissors close to my face things will not go well, later that day I went to the drugstore and bought this pair of safety facial hair trimmers from Tweezerman.
They have a rounded safety tip that curves away from the skin, reducing the chances of accidentally poking something vital.
When I got home — snip, snip, snip! Nose hairs trimmed.
So yeah…just be wary, my friend. You might want to take a closer look at your nose hair situation next time you check your fine self in the mirror, and smile your biggest, cheesiest smile. 🙂 Then look for assertive nose hairs, ’cause you never know.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Thank you for sharing a raw and honest post. I’m tall and have bug nostrils so I get mine waxed. The only issue i have now is that my boogers fall out easier. Lol

I’m glad you posted about this! I’ve noticed the same thing with my own nose hairs in the past couple of years, and have been pulling them out with tweezers (ouch!) The Tweezerman trimmer sounds like a much better option. 🙂

I have them, but I hope they aren’t terribly conspicuous! Ha ha

wait til those are grey hairs you’re seeing… *our work is never done*

Great post! Finally someone not Africa’s to talk about this. I have a Panasonic nose hair trimmer that’s easy to use and doesn’t require a mirror. You just kinda shove it in your nose and 2 seconds later long nose hair begone. The tip is rounded and no blades to worry about. And it’s not one of those one sided comb looking things that can still cut you if you’re not careful.

I appreciate the reminder, haha. There are so many body parts to keep up with. If you do ever let it go, the good news is that wookies are extremely lovable.

Haha! So grateful you wrote this – I thought I was the only one!!!

I do this regularly. I’m a distant relative of Cousin It. 🙂

Hahaha, well, welcome to the club 😉 I just use nose trimmer.

I swear when I am having the most horrible day, I read your blog and I’m actually smiling again. I use a tweezer to pluck the visible ones and I’m sneezing up a storm afterwards. But I like the safety hair trimmers idea. It’s also probably good for another area that I won’t mention. Good tip!
Karen says
Thank you, Becca. That makes me very happy to hear that MBB makes you smile sometimes. Hearing that makes me smile too. 🙂
I hope you’re having a great weekend.

I think I can use this. Thanks for sharing.

Oh, it hurts SO bad to pluck those few that like to peek out!!!? I, too, use an electro nose hair trimmer (one of those that also can be use to tidy brows, lightly shave peach fuzz on the face, and touch up sideburns- none of which I use it for) about every 4-6 weeks to make sure no shrubbery is growing where it can be seen! I worked with a super pretty lady once who had like full-on mini mustaches hanging out of her nostrils. I have no idea why she was impeccably groomed everywhere else but her nostrils!?! That would drive me nuts to feel/see that on my face!?

Yes! I caught myself with the exact same smiley nose hair situation a few months back. I was horrified!

This is such an honest post! I am generally not much attentive to such hairs because I am too hairy so it just makes me feel depressed. But yeah when needed I use my mini scissor for trimming those hair.

Thanks for the post! You did a great job bringing humor and smiles into an area that can be embarrassing and “painful”. I use tweezers to pluck my nose hairs out. It isn’t as painful now, guess I got use to it. Also, for me the upkeep is easier.

There are salons that offer nose hair waxing!

I went the tweezing method for mine… I’m pretty sure my eyes are still watering!!!!!!

Another reason we love you, Karen, cuz you are so real! Yes, I, too trim the nostril hairs. But I use a battery powered trimmer that you stick up there and voila! nose hairs gone.
