Good morning, my sweet friend!
How’s your day going so far? Mine’s been pretty good, even with the chill in the air and the fog creeping ominously up the oak tree-covered hill outside… It’s thick as soup!
I’m in the mood to try something a little different with the Monday Poll today. I feel like mixing things up with an open thread instead.
Wait a second… That totally rhymed. MC K-Dawg in the house! 🙂
Let’s just chat about whatever we want — makeup, cats, noms (I have grand plans to bake brownies this week), something you’re looking forward to (or dreading), fall boots, shopping, last night’s soul-crushing episode of The Walking Dead (OMG, I JUST CAN’T!!!) — whatever’s on your mind.
Right now, I’ve got lipstick on mine. I just realized that I’ve barely worn gloss AT ALL this fall, and I’m usually a gloss girl. How ’bout you? What have you been wearing on your lips lately?
Have a wonderful day, and thank you for stopping by. I hope to see you in the comments.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. So that’s a big SPOILER ALERT in the comments if you want to, but haven’t, seen last night’s The Walking Dead yet.
Sara says
Hey Girl! How are you feeling? I’m one week away from the second trimester yay!
Ooooo brownies sound good right about now. Last night I was craving something sweet. I only had vanilla ice cream which just wasn’t going to cut it, so I trashed it up with Halloween candy haha I don’t know if this bowl of candy is going to last for the weekend for my trick or treaters!
On the topic of lips, my new favorite combo is the new loreal la lacque lip pen I think they’re called? You mentioned them a few weeks ago. Anyway I wear the color choco-lacque and over it I use bare minerals lipgloss in rebel. Been liking that a lot lately!
Hope you have a good week!
Karen says
Hi Sara,
Congrats on being one week away from the second trimester! I hope that all the hard stuff from the first trimester has chilled out. Did you have any food aversions or morning sickness? I didn’t have any morning sickness, although I pretty much HATED all food. LIKE ALL OF IT. The only thing I could eat was frozen waffles and a very small amount of different breakfast foods.
Anyway, I’m doing good today. The only stuff I’ve really been having to deal with mostly is emotional — those pregnancy hormones are no joke! Last week they hit me in monster waves, and I needed to take some time to chill. I’m feeling much better now though.
Oh, and haha…the brownies that I’m going to make are kind of “cheating” brownies (so they’re not made from scratch, which is what I originally wanted to do). I bought a box of brownie mix. It’ll do though! I’ll take it. Hmm, maybe with some vanilla ice cream?
Those L’Oreal La Lacque pens are great! Have you tried any of their red lipsticks yet for fall (they’re the ones in the matte black packaging)? SO PRETTY. They have one called “Blake’s Red” and it’s been in heavy rotation.
By the way, do ya know yet if you’re having a boy or a girl?
Sara says
Cheating brownies are the best! I still have yet to find a recipe that beats the Ghiardelli box mix.
I didn’t have any morning sickness either but food was tough. I wanted nothing but carbs for a while! Bread in all forms haha it’s getting a bit better now but I still really don’t want anything Mexican which is usually my favorite. I hope that doesn’t last forever! I don’t know what I’m having yet I’m so anxious to find out! From the beginning I thought boy but the last week or so I kind of keep thinking girl. Who knows. It’s a 50/50 chance haha I’ll let you know when I find out! I’m so glad to have you during this experience! I also wanted to ask you what tea have you been drinking if any? I know you are a tea drinker, and so am I but I know a lot of teas are iffy. Anything you’ve been having that you like?
Karen says
Haven’t tried the Ghirardelli one yet, although I probably should since they’re outta SF! I bought the classic Duncan Hines one last weekend. Mmmm…
It’ll eventually get better for you with food. I hated two of my favorite things to eat — vegetables and fish — for months! I’m starting to eat salads again and fish, although it took a really long time to get here. Just hang on for a little bit longer and soon you’ll be enjoying the stuff you normally like. 🙂
Funny that you mention tea, because I’m having a cup right now. In the morning I drink decaf green tea. My favorite is Twinings (it smells and tastes the best!). In the afternoons and evenings I drink Trader Joe’s Rooibos & Honeybush Tea, which is caffeine free. I’ve read that it’s got lots of antioxidants and is good for pregnant ladies. Plus it tastes really good! I drink mine with a little bit of honey and milk.
Sara says
Thanks Karen! Definitely trying that trader joes tea I’m going to go pick some up today. I was just reading about rooibos tea being good for pregnancy. Have you ever tried any teas by the republic of tea? I just saw they have a ton of new holiday teas, a lot of rooibos based and they look so good!
Kwmechelle says
OMG, I MIGHT just be the first commenter. ‘Bout to break out in the dougie. I kid….sorta. Ok, for seriousness, any recs on a good translucent, mattifying face powder? I need one to set my under eye concealer. I’d prefer something with no flashback, even though I know that’s next to impossible. Or, what about a good face-setting powder in general. I have, and love, my MAC MSF but I do wonder if using it to set my under eye concealer is a faux pas. Help a sista out & spill the tea. It’s an emergency of epic proportions, like most things with me. Tehehehe ☺️
Angela says
KWMechelle: I’ve been loving the Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay pressed translucent powder. I have combo skin (oily t-zone)and it helps without looking cakey.
Kwmechelle says
Ohhh, that’s good to know. I think you’re the 2nd person to recommend this. Putting it on my list of things to try. And thank you for your response!
Karen says
Hey cutie pie!!
So how do you feel about loose powders? Urban Decay’s Ultra Definition Loose Finishing Powder is killer when it comes to a matte finishes. The powders do have a light tint, but it’s very, very VERY faint. I’ve worn it in several different types of lighting settings and I never get flash back.
You could definitely use your MAC MSF to set your under eye are (I’ve done this before and I think it’s great for that). I think the trick to it though (or the trick to setting your under eye concealer with powder in general) is to take as much of your powder off your brush as you can before you apply. I find that with the under eye area, the less powder and product in general I use the better of I am. That doesn’t stop me from wearing a lot of stuff down there — I just use it in very thin, controlled layers.
Oh, and back to the powder. Angela has a great point. The Tarte one is also excellent!
How was your weekend, by the way? What did ya do?
Kwmechelle says
Ohhhh, I’ve never tried an UD face powder. In fact, it never even dawned on me. This one’s going on my list. And I think you’re right about wiping off excess powder to avoid looking caked on. Here, here for loose powders. My weekend was uneventful by design. I’m either coming down with a cold or my allergies are going hay wire. And my allergies aren’t responding to my allergy medicine. Sad face. But on a positive note, I ordered eyeliners from Colour Pop, a liquid lippie from Coloured Raine, & picked up a new lippie with my B2MAC. Talk about some makeup retail therapy to cure a case of the sniffles. Thanks for the recommendations. No flashback undereye, here I come! ☺️
Karen says
Ooh, what B2MAC shade did ya get?!
Kwmechelle says
Flat Out Fanulous. And it is, wait for it, FABULOUS! I was worried that the retro matte formula would be too much for my always-dry pucker. But turns out my lips don’t mind the formula at all. I received compliments on it when I wore it yesterday, including from two darling little girls (ages 3 & 5) who asked me how’d I paint my lips that color! It’s so not a fall color & I don’t mind that one bit. It’s been a dreary day here & is slated to rain for the next three days. In other words, this lippie will be in heavy rotation this week because it works wonders on dreary days. Like lipstick has the magic to do, #obvs ?
Karen says
OH yeah, that one is GREAT! I love the brightness of the shade, so fun! It’ll be the bright spot to your rainy day. 🙂 Excellent choice, friend.
P.S. Please tell me you wore a dramatic eye look with it.
Kwmechelle says
Yaassss, gurl! Pulled out my UD Naked(1) + UD Blackout & smoked that ish out. I wore Toasted with Hustle added on top of that for added dimension & depth. I only added enough of Hustle to give a gradient effect so you can’t quite tell where one ends & the other behind. A wing liner & dramatic lashes completed the look. I look stunning (lol) even if my allergies are kicking my butt.

Rumor has it that no one really died….. I guess we will find out.
Karen says
I really don’t see how he could’ve gotten out of that situation though. It’s pretty much impossible! I think he’s dead and Maggie is pregs.
Angela says
Ok I’ll bite! I’ve been frustrated with a new hair-do I got recently in that I just can’t seem to get it back to that post-cut state. I was able to miraculously style my hair for a week after the cut and then it just all started falling apart. It was voluminous! It was textured! It was curly just from blow-drying! Now I’m left with straight, floppy hair, that instead of staying in cute curl “clumps” goes frizzy and staticky instead. BOO, HISS. I’m on a mission though and I THINK I might have solved the mystery. I think my hair was too dry! As in not enough hydration from conditioning/shampoo SO I’m trying to hydrate it as much as possible without going overboard :O and causing other problems for my locks. Sheesh.
Chelsea says
I don’t let Quincy out of his pen when miss Mina is playing because she always tries to wrestle him, but you can tell she really loves him, because she lays down next to his cave all the time and they give nose boops and kisses. Very sweet! She and Jiji are totally buddies now though.
QB has a vet appointment. He seems to have lost some weight recently and is drinking a lot of water, and since he’s an old man (8.5) we want to make sure he’s healthy enough for anesthesia for a molar trim. Send good vibes!
Chelsea says
Cave, LOL. I meant cage, although it’s a large size dog crate, technically speaking.
Karen says
Sending QB and you good vibes today. When is the appointment?
And yay! So glad to hear Mina and Jiji are BFFs now. 🙂 I knew it would happen eventually.
Chelsea says
4:30 eastern time! I’ll be leaving work a little early for it.
Karen says
I’ll send over good pet mom vibes over to ya then. 🙂
How is your ankle?
Chelsea says
It’s almost normal! Walking fine, still slightly larger than the other.
Tulipthecat says
I was so in shock when I watched the walking dead last night. I so hope he’s not dead and the guts that came out was from the other guy. I found the La Croix blackberry and cucumber water and it’s great. It’s nice and refreshing in the afternoon. I was just looking at my desk at work and realized I have 8 lip products sitting on my desk. People must think I’m crazy 🙂 Tulip and Jazmine say “hi”. Tulip will be a superhero for Halloween and Jazmine said she’s too old for Halloween. Tulip seems to really like her cape!
Karen says
Me too! I just sat there with my mouth hanging open for like 10 minutes! Do you think he’s dead? I think he is. I mean, there’s no way he could’ve gotten out of that situation without at least SOMETHING bitten off. There were just too many walkers. I think he’s dead and Maggie is pregs. Do you think he’s alive?
And 8 is a good number! Which ones do you have on your desk right now?
Oh, and you’ll have to send me and Tabs a pic of Tulip in her superhero costume.
How was your weekend, by the way?
Tulipthecat says
I’m not sure he’s dead. Do you a remember an episode in the beginning where Rick used one of the dead walkers as an “outfit” to get out of a swarm. He used the dead walker to cover up his “living smell”? I think that happened on the Walking Dead or maybe it was another zombie movie I was watching….anyhow it’s possible that’s what happened and Glenn is still alive. I think Maggie is pregs too.
The eight I have right now is: YSL Volupté Tint-In-Oil number 5, LA Girl Matte Lipsticks in manic and electric, ColourPop lippie stix in grunge, ColourPop liquid lipsticks in bad habit, bumble, and more better, Ofra liquid lipstick in hollywood, and Ardency Inn lipstick in forward….wait I guess I have 9. I also have a Sephora Collection lipgloss in Fushia.
I will tweet you a picture of Tulip in her Superhero outfit. What did Tabs decide on? I also saw cute puppy costumes such as eeyore that I was tempting to buy and put Tulip in.
My weekend was good. I spent some time with the boyfriend, went to my 25th high school reunion, and my nieces and nephew came over yesterday.
How was your weekend? I felt bad that I didn’t have time to take Tulip outside for a walk in the backyard. But I bought her some grass and she seems contents on mowing that grass down. Although, she gets lazy sometimes and wants me to pluck the long ones out and feed it to her. Does Tabs ever ask you for that?
Karen says
It happened in the first season. I’ve always wondered why they don’t do that all the time. Because I’d be covering myself up in gross zombie guts left and right, yo!
LOL, that’s awesome that you have so many lipsticks on your desk. You have me beat. Right now I only have three. 🙂
I’ll keep an eye out for the pics of Tulip, yay! I think she’s a super hero every single day.
How was your high school reunion, by the way? I never went to mine. Did you have a good time? I hope so!
This weekend was mostly errands. On Saturday, I went to a Sephora makeup class, then I ran a bunch of errands and did laundry. Sunday, more laundry, then grocery shopping, then a dinner party at a friend’s house. It was fun, but it went by way too fast.
And LOL, yes, Tabs does that with grass sometimes! He insists on eating one blade at a time. 🙂
Tulipthecat says
The high school reunion was interesting. This is the first reunion that I’ve been to and it was exactly like high school. People hung around their own little cliques just like high school. Seems like nothing has changed. I guess it didn’t help that there were just a handful of people I remember and those were the people I went to elementary schools with too. I spent the whole time trying to read people’s name tags and trying to remember them. It seems as though my high school memories have been replaced with other things.
I’ll have to take a class at Sephora some time. I did try the Pur cosemetics eyeshadow that you mentioned. I have Silk and I really liked it. It’s a bit messy but I liked the color. It’s glittery but not too glittery. Have you ever taken a class at the Make up Forever store?
Lulle says
Hey there! How was your weekend? It was cool and a little cloudy here, but the sun is back today.
Are you gonna dress up for Halloween? I haven’t decided on a costume yet. I was thinking Maleficient but I need some horns!
Karen says
Hi Lulle,
Mine was busy doing home stuff. I feel like all I did was run errands, LOL! I did manage to go to a party last night though. My friend from the NY just moved out west and she had a get together last night, so that was a lot of fun because i haven’t seen her in person in ages.
I’m still undecided with Halloween. I have a couple ideas but we’ll see if any of them actually happen, LOL! Usually I’m really into it but this year I’ve had a hard time getting into the spirit. Are you going to go with your Maleficient idea?
Ruchita says
Happy Monday! I’ve only watched half of TWD, so I’ll be careful of spoilers. I’m so glad for DVRs, because there’s so many good shows in TV.
Did you ever get into The X-Files? I’m excited to hear it’s coming back to TV. I hope it’s good.
On my agenda this week is to get Mingus in his sharky Halloween costume, so I can snap some pics. Hopefully he’ll be a good sport!
Karen says
Hi Ruchita,
Oh boy. Be sure not to read any of the other comments then! When you’re done watching the show (and after you’ve watched The Talking Dead as well) we’ll have to discuss. There’s SO much to talk about!
Yes, I love The X-Files! I read a story in Entertainment Weekly a while back about it returning and I’m so excited. 🙂
So, from one cat mom to another — Mingy may need some time to get used to his costume. You may also need to bribe him with *plenty* of treats. With Tabs it usually takes a day or so to get him used to the idea of wearing something. It also helps to have an outfit that he can’t readily squeeze out of, LOL! Oh, and food bribery. That always helps too.
How was your weekend, by the way? Did you do anything fun?
Ruchita says
I remember reading that article in EW about The X-Files! I’m thinking of going back and watching some old episodes on Netflix.
Thanks for the costume tips! Mingy is all about the food, so I’m sure that will help. Also, it’s been around 5 years since that boy showed up on the doorstep. I don’t remember the exact day, but it was in October, close to Halloween. I was taking out some trash and when I was walking back, there he was by the front door. I remember kneeling down and holding out my hand and he came right over to say hi. We didn’t have any cat food at the time so I fed him hot dogs. 🙂
The weekend was pretty low key. The usual laundry and grocery shopping. I did some cooking to prep for the week. I wish I enjoyed cooking more, but it feels like a big chore sometimes. I think part of it is dealing with the dirty dishes. If I lived alone, I think I would be eating a lot of cereal. 🙂
Karen says
Aww, happy anniversary to you and Mingy! Time flies when you’re having fun. Tabby boys are the best. ❤❤❤
I did pretty much the same thing last weekend. Laundry and errands on Saturday, grocery shopping on Sunday, and a small get-together at a friends house on Sunday evening.
I totally know what you mean about cooking, by the way! I think it’s because I have to do it EVERY DAY and it’s just a big pain in the you-know-what. Baking, though, is special. Baking is a treat that happens every once in a while, and when you’re done, you’re rewarded with so much deliciousness that you can eat all week long!
Maybe it would be different if I was better at cooking, but right now it’s such a chore!
Ruchita says
Thanks! Tabby boys are pretty special. 🙂 He’s still got hunting skills too – just this evening he caught a mole out in the yard. He looked so proud! He stays in the yard so we let him out when we get home from work. I went inside and came back out a minute later and he’s standing there with something in his mouth. It freaked me out a bit, but he was having a great time playing with it in the yard. My husband eventually got it an put it in the trash.
Glad you can relate about the cooking. Doing it every day can get to be a chore. On the weekends I take a break and we’ll get carry out or something. I had some bananas getting ripe, so I did make some banana chocolate chip muffins. If you ever need recipe inspiration, I really like the blog Sally’s Baking Addiction. That’s where I got the muffin recipe. A lot of her recipes are pretty easy, which I like when I want a sweet treat that’s not too complicated. 🙂
Lyse Davitt says
Have you ever tried Lise Watier cosmetics? Are they even available in the US? Really liking some of their products and wish I could find more on-line reviews.
Have a great week everyone.
Karen says
Hi Lyse,
I haven’t! I did a quick search and noticed that there is a US website, although they only ship to the continental US:
http://www.lisewatier.us/
The items look pretty! Which ones are you interested in?
denise S says
OMG I was so bummed about last nights TWD episode! I thought of you Karen, you so talked that up, lol. Say it isn’t true, after all they have been through, oh no! Me and my daughter went to see Crimson Peak in IMAX. The costumes and set was beautiful and it had a good story too. Today I’m finally returning the Smashbox gel slanted pen liner I brought a while ago. I love the color but can’t deal with all the clumps. Lately I’ve been into the matte liquid /lipstick trend . I brought a few from LA girl that are nice, but I usually end up adding gloss before the day ends because they are drying.
Karen says
Hi Denise,
I can’t even handle it. Do you think Glenn is dead? I think he is. There’s no way he could’ve gotten out of that swarm situation alive. 🙁 I think that Maggie is pregnant with his baby, so part of him will live on.
I was actually thinking of watching Crimson Peak! I want to go to the movies and I’m torn between that and The Intern. I feel like it’s been forever since I’ve gone.
Totally know what you’re saying about that gel pen liner — I had a feeling it would get all clumpy. Did you exchange it for anything?
denise S says
I’m on the fence because those guts could have been the suicide dudes. He could roll under that dumpster. And people are saying they didn’t memorialize Glenn on The Talking Dead like they usually do when a character is killed off. I didn’t exchange the gel liner for anything, trying to use up my massive makeup collection. Hope they don’t leave us hanging and reveal if Glenn survived or not on the next episode.
Karen says
I watched The Talking Dead afterward and I noticed that too. There was also a statement by the showrunner Scott Gimple and he was pretty ambiguous about whether or not he was dead. I still think he’s dead though. Really, is there ANY way to get out of that swarming hoard? If there is I just can’t see it!
The next episode is 90 minutes long so I hope they address it!
Tammy says
I never liked matte lipsticks before, but recently got one in a Clinique gift w/purchase…I’m kinda loving it now! ♡
Karen says
Hi Tammy,
Oh how lovely! Clinique makes some good lippies. What’s the shade?
Janet Shepherd says
Well, I’ve pretty much got babies on my mind. Hubs & I have completed our first IVF cycle – a week to go until the pregnancy blood test. Nothing to do but wait, look after myself, & try not to think about it too much!
I hate to admit it, but I’m not really a Walking Dead fan. We recently got Netflix here, so I’ve been binging on Supernatural right from the start & loving it! The Aussie version of Netflix doesn’t have nearly the content of US Netflix, but they’re adding things all the time.
Karen says
Hi Janet,
I know how that is. I’m thinking good thoughts for you, and keeping all my fingers and toes crossed. 🙂 Hopefully you’ll have good news to share soon.
Supernatural is a good show! It can get really scary sometimes. I started watching it a while back and fell off the wagon after the Bloody Mary episode. After that I was too freaked out, LOL!
I have a fab Netflix find for you — The Great British Baking Show. I’ve been marathoning it for two weeks now and I’m totally addicted.
Anywho, I hope you had a nice weekend!
Janet Shepherd says
My hubs is English, and I lived with him in London for a few years when that baking show started – in the UK and Australia the show is called The Great British Bake Off (or GBBO for short). Everyone in the UK is crazy about this show, and it was filmed not too far from where I used to live. Sue Perkins, one of the presenters, is one of my favourite British TV folks – she used to do a show with Giles Coren called “Supersizers Go…” where they would dress, live and eat like people did in different time periods. From Ancient Rome, Elizabethan England, right up to the 70’s. It can be gross sometimes, but so, so cool & interesting.
Thanks for your good thoughts, they’re much appreciated! I’ve had a lot of support from family, friends and co-workers, I feel very lucky to have people who care so much.
Hope your Baby Girl is behaving herself in there, not driving her Mama too crazy!
Have a great week! Love from Australia xx

I’ve got engagement photos on the brain – both the ones I’m shooting Saturday for a close friend, and then I’m getting my own done Sunday! Because oh yeah, the photographer always forgets about her own. 😉 Luckily one of my closest friends is a fantastic wedding photographer and reminded me that I should probably do that and offered it as a moving present. 🙂
Karen says
How exciting, Trude! Do you have your hair/makeup/outfit all worked out. Where will the shoot take place?
Happy Monday to you. 🙂
Trude says
LOL you know I was just starting to really worry about that today! I’m thinking something fairly simple and classic for makeup, lots of lashes and a natural lip that won’t need constant checking in the mirror. We’re going to a great local park/nature preserve that should be pretty this time of year. Now I just need to decide what to wear! I had ordered a pretty Boden top but its not quite right for photos, KWIM?

Hello! Haven’t been able to comment in a while. New job has meant coming home, studying and going right to bed since I am up at 4:00 every morning. It’s kind of like college and boot camp. I am happy though, and the difficulty of it is a means to an end, a means to graduation and a great career with many possibilities.
You look so beautiful pregnant with your baby girl, and I know you must feel a mix of excited and anxious as you await her birth. It is so awesome that you are having a girl to share your love of makeup with!

I don’t watch walking dead, I feel like I’m too many seasons and way too lazy to be lazy enough to catch up on Netflix(does that make sense?) I have been using some Giorgio Armani lip maestro lately which I don’t think they’re really considered a gloss, oh and have you seen the new Kat Von d Lolita lip set yet?? I got mine today but haven’t tried out yet, super excited! What I have been obsessing about lately though are J-lo’s cat eye glasses she wore last week at a movie premiere! I have been searching the Internet day and night for those glasses! I have to have them like yesterday! The closest thing I could find were some ray bans and I don’t want to cave in and buy them until I am absolutely sure a)these are the ones she wore or b)this is as close as I am going to get to the ones she has. It’s making me crazy?
Amoure Jones says
Happy Monday Karen,
It’s around 4:54 pm (MST/PST) and I’m just now winding down. Trying to get myself together after being sick and I’m truly coming along just fine. I really haven’t gotten into any true deep fall lippies because I let my eyes bare all the gorgeous: wines, Bordeaux’s, burnt oranges, mustards, burgundy’s, etc. My lips have been either brown or a taupe color. I’ve been playing around with MAC’s Styled in Sepia and some other shades very similar by MAC and it’s quite fun.
However, what I’m truly excited about is this bag I just ordered from Henri Bendel. I had to order it from New York because although they have the bag available on their website they don’t sell the shade on there. Once I saw it on their Facebook page I feel in love with the color (they call it dark purple, but I call it love) I knew she’d be my bag for the Fall. Check her out. https://www.facebook.com/HenriBendel/photos/pb.55821649315.-2207520000.1445903593./10153898874549316/?type=3&theater
Isn’t she a beaute? I thought so too. So hopefully she’ll be here pretty soon. It’s a long trip from the East to West coast so I’m trying to be as patient as I can.
Now I have to think of what to cook for dinner. Decisions, decisions.
🙂

Hey Karen, I just saw a recipe on FB for a pumpkin lava cake. Said it was similar to a chocolate lava cake. Now I have to go back and try to find it..ha! And still would like some feedback on no eye shadows after the age of 60. WTH????
Stephanie says
I kind of feel like I need an open thread right now, I guess. Someone made an offhand comment about how much money he made not really being a great amount, and it’s three times what I’ve ever made in a year (which is way below poverty level), because for some reason no one will take a chance on me? Is it because of my chronic illnesses? How do people see THAT in an interview? I went to a really expensive private liberal arts college and I thought that was supposed to be my ticket to something. Four years later and I feel… like why do I even bother anymore? Nobody is ever going to care.
So, hey, the up and downs of feelings, that’s not just pregnancy hormones. It’s just life, too.
Amy says
Just reading through these four days late and have to say if you’re still on the thread, Stephanie, sending love. Four years can seem like along time, but you have value and worth and that will come out clearly. Keep up your spirits and know what you honestly have to give is needed.
Stephanie says
Thank you, Amy 🙂 I needed to hear that.
Amy says
Np. While looking at your reply I thought of an article on finding receptivity and appreciation that I found really helpful in working through similar experiences. It’s spiritual so I don’t want to post it and seem like a creepy nut 😉 – I know that’s not up everyone’s alley! If you like I can send it, amybv (at) me (dot) com. If not, all good to you! Hope you’ve got some good makeup and looks for Halloween!! ?
Kim says
Sorry I missed the thread yesterday but glad to hear that you’re feeling a little less rollercoastery this week! 🙂 Glenn was my 2nd favorite character (behind Rick). I’ve felt like his time has been coming for the last 5 or 6 eps but it’s still very upsetting. Not to turn everyone’s stomachs but there is no way he survived having his innards literally pulled out of him. I think you’re right about Maggie being pregnant. I hope so because she has now officially lost all of her family. I can’t imagine that she’s not headed for a huge breakdown. 🙁
LindaLibraLoca says
Late to the party, and I haven’t seen TWD, which most of the comments are about, but can I just throw into the mix that choosing baby names for a boy is hell? It was much easier for our daughter! This time we are desperate…
Renee says
Also late to the party, but hello! The leaves here are changing all kinds of jewel-toned colors and the air is getting cooler, I’m loving it. I’m also loving MAC Shanghai Spice with MAC Modest lip gloss. Whoops I’m having an evil laugh right now because my husband isn’t too happy because FOX lost power and had to interrupt broadcasting the World Series! Anyway, haha, I, of course am also loving German Shepherd anything cuz my only child is four-legged and of that species. I’ve been sending good thoughts your way Karen & I hope you have a fantastic week and keep cozy next to that fog. Happy Halloween!! Be safe!
Karen says
Hi Renee,
I’ll definitely take those good thoughts. Tell me about your pup! I grew up with dogs so I looooove them too (sshhh, don’t tell Tabs). 🙂 What’s his/her name, and how long have you two been together?

Aww, you are so sweet to ask! Well, my girl’s name is Bella. She is twelve. I got her before the Twilight craze and named her Bella because it is Italian for beautiful and that’s just what I thought when I first laid eyes on her. I have had her since she was 5 1/2 weeks old (they gave her to me way to early.) But she’s twelve now and the vet says I’m doing something right because they usually don’t make it this long. Maybe the nurse in me, Idk. I must comment on Tab’s eyes. They are so so pretty! But don’t tell him, I wouldn’t want his ego to swell too much! I am so excited today because I actually get a day off…it rarely happens. I’m usually on-call 24-7 and today I’m taking a much needed break. We live on a lake so Bella and I may take a walk amongst the pine-cones and fall air. And maybe later I may just end up at Sephora or the MAC counter…we will see. Wishing you delightful flutters in your belly, ease of movement, wonderful energy, and happy taste buds today! Take care!

German Shepherds are wonderful dogs. So good natured and loyal (and cute of course). El Hub and I have talked about adopting one but at this point Tabs runs the show so that’s not happening, LOL! It sounds like Bella has lived a wonderful life with you so far; I hope that you two are together for many years to come. It’s unfair that pets don’t live longer. If I had my way Tabs would be my old man tabby for the next 20 years.
I hope that you enjoy your day off! It sounds like you have some relaxing stuff planned. Enjoy your walk (I want to go on one today if it’s not too cold in the early afternoon) and your trip to the MAC counter, and give Bella a belly rub for me.
P.S. I woke up so early this morning because Baby Girl was kicking up a storm. Her kicks are getting stronger every day. 🙂
P.P.S. Is Bella dressing up for Halloween?
Renee says
Naw, no dress up. I usually work on-call for Halloween so the other nurses can take their kids trick or treating. Husband is also working that night. So Bella girl will just have to dress up as herself this year. Hopefully she won’t be too terribly disappointed, but she knows that I always make it up to her at Thanksgiving dinner 🙂

Oh that’s nice of you! I’m sure your co-workers appreciate it. Funny how our fur kids looooooove Thanksgiving. Tabs will sit next to me and beg for gravy the entire time, LOL!
How was your day off? Did you end up going to Sephora? I just got back from a long walk around the neighborhood. Saw two deer, three dogs (with their “assistants”) and two cats. 🙂
