On Tuesday night Tabs is going to a big party in the city being thrown by one of the cool cats at work. Tabs knows he wants to wear something dramatic on his eyes, and he has it narrowed down to these five products.
Can you help him figure out what to wear? He really wants to look his best. 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. What a nice long weekend, ladies. I’m a little bummed it has to end… What do ya got going on tonight? I’m playing it low key. I have some TV to catch up on (the last two episodes of V), but that’s about it.

Looks like I’m first! I love the colors on the Dior palette, and actually been doing the add-to-cart-remove-from-cart thing for a few weeks. 🙂 Do you have it, Karen? What do you think?
Karen says
Hi Pinksoysauce,
I looooooove Dior palettes, especially for the color payoff and ease in blending! I don’t have this one in particular, though. It looks very wearable… maybe check to see if you have similar colors in your makeup stash, and then ask yourself if these are shades you’d wear often. The palettes are so pricey that you’d want to get the most bang out of your buck, ya know?

I’ll check them out! It gives me yet another excuse to run to Sephora. 🙂 I’ve been such a skincare addict lately, and maybe it’s time to dabble in some makeup.
Speaking of which, I’m new to foundation and was wondering what you would recommend for a light, natural but polished look. I’m 14, and Bare Minerals Matte isn’t my thing, so I’m thinking about trying the regular Bare Minerals but was wondering if there were better foundations out there that I should also consider. Makeup’s not a daily thing for me, but I’d like to have the basics since there are a growing number of events on my calendar that are starting to require it. Thanks so much! I am absolutely addicted to your blog. It’s so esthetically pleasing.

I couldn’t decide between the Dior palette and the Nars at first, but I think that the Nars is a little more daring…plus it really brings out those eyes that Tabs has!
This is kind of a random question, but I was wondering…I just recently bought one of my first and only Mac eyeshadows in Star Violet (a very pretty kind of cranberry/purple which shows up almost red on my fair skintone) and I’m wondering how to wear it/what to pair it with? I’ve been a little bit afraid to wear it, because it’s kind of a daring shade on me, and I’m not sure what it would go with.
Do you happen to have any quick suggestions? (That is, if you are familiar with the color) I’m an NW15.
Thanks!
Karen says
LOL, Michaela! I’ll tell him that you think Tropic would work with his greenish yellow eyes more. 😉
I know Star Violet — it’s a very pretty color! I like to balance bold shades with neutrals to make them more wearable. You could try it on the lid and fade it up into the crease, and then add a light matte warm brown or golden brown in the crease. MAC Soba or Soft Brown might work. Or, if you have a bronzer that you like you could try popping that in the crease as well.
A flesh-colored or a light pinkish/purple matte eyeshadow could work with it too. Do Start Violet just on the lid, and then blend the matte shade into the crease and brow bone so that the violet looks like a slice of color on the lid area.

Thanks so much! That all sounds great.

You’re welcome. 🙂 Let me know how it turns out!

Urban Decay is too predictable and I know from experience that although the nars shadow is gorgeous, there’s fallout. Fabulous tabs doesn’t have time for that ish when he’s trying to vogue. That’s why i voted for Club by Mac.
Karen says
LOL, Shontay! Club would look good with his smokey eyes. 🙂
How was your Thanksgiving?
amy says
I vote for Urban Decay’s Frigid eyeshadow because it would bring out his green eyes. Simple but effective.

Tabs does love his UD!
Marina says
I saw Tabs should do Club on the upper lid and line the lower lid with Tropic. But since I could only vote for one, I did the bolder one because I love the color of Tropic. Can’t go wrong either way, Tabs! Just have fun. 🙂
Karen says
Good advice, Marina!
Faye says
I’m voting for NARS Tropic. It is a club, and a cool cat like Tabs should bring the “Tropic”-al heat to the party :).
Karen says
LOL, Faye!
How are you today? Did you have a good Thanksgiving?
Faye says
Hey Karen!
I’m fine, swamped with work and trying to motivate my tryptophan haze-induced team :). Thanksgiving was great; volunteered at a food shelter in the A.M. and got a ton of stuff done in the afternoon. Hubby is British, neither parent is American, so we didn’t really do Thanksgiving dinner growing up, and I don’t now. But I do try to volunteer every year so I’m not too un-American :).
How was your Thanksgiving?
Karen says
That sounds like fun. I love doing volunteer work… it feels so good helping other people. 🙂
My turkey day was mellow. The boy and I drove out to my parent’s house, which is about an hour away. We gorged on turkey and carbs… and I ate four pieces of pecan pie. Oops!
After that we just chilled with my fam. I won’t be seeing them for Christmas this year so it was nice to spend some time with them.
