Um, where did my weekend go? I can’t believe it’s already Sunday night. Tabs is grumbling about having to go back to work tomorrow. This week he’s guest starring on a daytime soap. He plays a hot male nurse. 🙂
That reminds me. Have you ever been injured by a beauty tool? Once, back in my hair bear days (circa 1989), I burned my forehead with a curling iron. That was a hoot… not.
Doing anything fun tonight? I’m just about ready for a late pasta dinner and maybe some Mad Men Season 2.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Multiple ear burns with curling irons.. but the WORST was when someone’s car alarm went off right outside my window whilst I was curing my eyelashes.. needless to say, my mother’s predictions of injury due to “that torture device” were true- I spent two weeks explaining that no, my boyfriend was not responsible for my black eye. Swollen eyelids, purple and black, and big yellow stripes where the curler dug deepest.

OWWW – that sounds horrible!! D:

A few, most notorious are the curling iron, hot wax and the razor. Retin-A Micro was the worst experience I’ve ever had with a beauty product. The state and board-certified dermatologist I saw said it was the worst case allergic reaction to the medicine he’d ever seen. Needless to say, I can’t have retinal in any skin care item, even in the smallest doses.

My most recent injury left me blistered from a curling iron. I’ve also cut myself shaving and torn out some eyelashes with a curler, though. Bleah.

It happened to me a few times but luckily I wasn’t injured badly. Most of the time I would accidently poke my eye out with a mascara wand. Occasionally, I have accidents being over zealous with my bikini waxing and deforestation in my bikini spots.

Ouch! and lol, “deforestation” – I’ve never heard of it described that way, but it’s the perfect term for waxing the nether regions!

Besides picking up the curling iron on thw wrong end countelss times, cutting my self with my razor (not just nicks, I”m talking 23 stiches hahah) and the most reccent:
In my new house, my bedroom has stairs in it. When I was dancing around, curling my lashes, I just biffed it. OW!!!!

keep burning myself here and there with my flat iron… oh how i wish i had straight, limp, normal asian hair!

I once singed my eyelids 3x while trying out the Sephora heated eyelash curler. My BFF laughed hysterically at me when I told her, because one time, even twice she could understand, but THREE??? Sad thing is that it didn’t even do anything to my lashes at all! Needless to say, it went back to the store.

When I was abour 14, I burnt my forehead while curling my bangs, that evening I had a ballet performance where I had to slick my hair back and expose, you guessed it, my burnt forehead.
I never can wax properly, so when I attempt, I usually end up with tons of tiny whiteheads! Ew!
Cheap eyeliners are bad, especially if they aren’t sharpened properly and the wood part scratches your lids! Ow! I just did that the other day.

The weekend flew by and I even had Friday off.
The only beauty tool which has injured me is my flat iron. Gotten burned near my ears or back of my head a couple of times.
How are you liking Mad Men?

Burned my ears once and my forehead another time with a curling iron. Luckily, I had bangs at the time, so I could cover it up pretty well 😀

im so notorious for burning myself with my curling iron or straightner.
i’ve actually got this weird scar that shows up when my hands are dry from dropping my curling iron while using it and grabbing the hot metal so it wouldn’t land on my feet

Do you consider the eyelash curler a beauty tool? I accidentally ripped half of my eyelashes once, because my grip slipped. Meh.
Tiffany says
wow, reading these comments makes me never want to use a curling iron again! I have also burned myself, but never anything serious. I also tend to poke my eyeball with my mascara wand like once or twice a year 🙁
Hyzenthlay says
I talked about this not too long ago in the Best-and-Worst Beauty experiences of the week posts. I stuck my liquid liner into the inner corner of my eye, and it leaked TONS of black ink into my eye. Stung like crazy and took a little time to come out (though I managed to get it cleared out by the time I left the house).

Normally I’m pretty careful but I’m sort of known for being clumsy so something is always bound to happen. Years back I blinked while I was using a eyelash curler and my goodness, it felt like my eyelid came off. Another time, I was getting ready and I wasn’t wearing any pants and my straightener was heating up on my bed and I accidentally sat on it. Pulling wax strips too slow and dealing with wax on your legs? Shaving your dry legs with your dry razor and getting 99 cuts? Being rushed and poking yourself in the eye with a mascara wand?
Christy says
I burned my hair while blow drying using a metal round brush and melted a bit of it off. Thankfully it was only a bit on the top layers of my hair. I don’t use that brush now when I blow my hair out now. I got a ceramic and a scolding from my cousin/hair dresser for using the metal round brush.

Ah, just the usual hair straightener related injuries. Ouchies singied scalp, ears and fingers after running my hands through the newest straightened bit. haha. Nothing too serious. Oh. A few razor nicks here and there and pinched skin from tweezers when I’m not paying attention.
Tina says
I accidentally pulled off all my eyelashes on my right eye when I was using the eyelash curler for the first time. My fingers accidentally got stuck to the curler and it yanked all of my eyelashes.
SusyLovesMac says
Nice post! I just got done burning my neck with the damn curling iron! Last week was my forhead..lol..can you say clumsy :-/
And of course we have all pulled out some lashes with them damn curlers! Took about 2 weeks to see some lashes regrowning.
Sarah says
I have to say I’m with the majority… the darn curling iron has gotten me so many times I can’t even count any more.
