Dear Diary,
Something happened today. I don’t…
My favorite assistant didn’t come to work. She stayed upstairs in bed. I came downstairs expecting to find my morning gravy, and it wasn’t there. My litterbox hadn’t even been changed.
This is the first time in 10 years that anything like this has happened before, and I’m a little confused.
My assistant had been talking about needing to take some time off, but I just… I guess I didn’t take her seriously.
I thought she was happy working for me, and I honestly didn’t think she needed a break.
I’m not sure if this has something to do with the new hire starting soon, because she’s been talking about her a lot, but it’s weird. You know that saying about how you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone? Well, I understand what it means now.
I miss her. She’s the best assistant I’ve ever had. I mean, she’s more than just an assistant to me. I’ve known her most of my life, and she’s always been there, opening cans of gravy, scratching my chin and giving me my thrice daily massage. She has the best lap and the most beautiful eyes in the whole world.
You know what it is? I…love her. I hope she decides to come back to work soon.

Oh, Tabs, she loves you too. And she´ll be back to her duties very soon, just have a little patience.
Colleen says
This was both sweet and sad.
Kwmechelle says
I hope this means BG is here! And don’t worry, Tabs! You’re gonna love your new “wittle” assistant. 🙂
Rachel R. says
Awww, cheer up, Tabs. Soon you’ll have a mini-me of your beloved assistant to help take care of you. And keep you on your toes!
zVintageFashionizta says
I’m sure this was not meant to but it almost made me cry.
Tabs, Mommy will be back soon with a new playmate!
Kimm says
Oh Tabs! Once you meet the new hire, you will understand! Give your mommy- er assistant- a break. She exhausted and frustrated and sick of carting a watermelon around all day and not sleeping all night. She loves you!
Tabs says
Hi Kimm,
Thank you for the kind words, but I think you may have my assistant confused with someone else. In all of her professional duties here at Tabs the Cat Industries LLC, I have never seen her carry a watermelon.
Kitty hugs and nose kisses,
Tabs

Oh Tabs, does this mean your assistant has finally gone into labor???? We’re all dying to know. 🙂 Hang in there buddy. Think about it this way, you’re ultimately going to get Two Assistants for the price of one!
Tabs says
Hi Jennifer,
Labor? I’m sorry, I don’t understand. I don’t believe there’s been any labor going on today (she took the day off), but she did say something about intermittent contractions? She’s mostly been upstairs in her room, but she did come downstairs earlier to have lunch in the company cafeteria.
I hope you’ve had a furbulous weekend.
Toodles,
Tabs

Intermittent contractions??
*uncontrollable smiling* IT MIGHT BE HAPPENING, IT MIGHT BE HAPPENING
Galaxia says
I’m sooo excited for the new hire to arrive 😉 And she will be really nice and make sure that your favorite assistant has lots of time to scratch your chin <3 Before you know it, New Hire will be helping with your massages, too!
Danielle says
This was so sweet!
Arianne says
Omg what if the new hire starts on leap day??? Tabs, your life is about to change!
Jonirae says
ahh! a leap baby! that would be wonderful and kind of weird all at once! ???
Lulle says
Tabs, I think she just needs a little time to prepare the arrival of the new hire. That’s been a lot of pressure for her lately, knowing she would have to train the new recruit! Just find a comfy place to purr and watch your human co-workers at the Academy Awards!
Fran says
Tabs, I hope the new hire starts real soon… but you may find that training her takes up an awful lot of your favorite assistant’s attention… hopefully the process will be fun for you 🙂
Rachel says
OMG OMG Tabs you’re going to have another small mammal around the house! Trust me, you’ll be confused at first, but it will be cool!
Lauren says
Intermittent contractions?! Yayayaya! I hope you’re feeling ok, Karen and Tabs!! This was so sweet but made me tear up!!
Kim says
Don’t worry, Tabs – you have the most dedicated assistant EVAH! This is just part of the normal HR process when adding staff. In the end, you’ll all benefit and YOU will have one more assistant to adore (I mean, be adored by…). 🙂
PS Please keep us posted on the intermittent contractions. I know I was hoping for a March hire, but a Leap Year Assistant would be awesome. 🙂
jessica says
Oh Tabs I love your stripey belly!
yelena says
too cute. don’t worry tabs, Karen will be back soon with a new assistant for you!
kimkats says
Ah, hang in there Tabs…. Even if there’s a new resident at your place, you’ll always have your assistant, and you are irreplaceable to her. 🙂 You know she misses you too….and she’ll be back assisting as soon as she can!
Lilly says
Wow good luck Karen!!!! 40 week is about time. I’m sure it feels like forever now!
Maddie says
Aw, Tabs! Your assistant just took a much needed break. The new hire will arrive soon, and I hope you’ll make room for her. I’m sure there’s enough love and kisses for you both. Give my best wishes to your assistant as she gets ready to deliver a special surprise for you! ?
Brenda says
Best of luck with the birth of your baby! I can’t wait to see pictures!
Icequeen81 says
