Dear Diary,
I’m feeling very thoughtful today — and apparently very generous as well. After my morning modeling routine (I practice daily to keep my edge), I had a long conversation with my assistant about her Thanksgiving work schedule.
Rather than requiring her to work her regular schedule, purr usual, for the first time in Tabs the Cat Industries history, I’m giving her the day off.
Am I getting soft in my later years? No. But I do appreciate loyalty. I also strongly believe that it’s important to recognize exceptional employees, which is why I’ll be spending this Thanksgiving with mine.
I know it’s unorthodox for executives to mingle with the support staff over the holidays, but while my assistant was giving me my mid-morning shiatsu massage, she started getting emotional, saying how much she loves being my companion, how I’ll always be her “oldest baby” (What’s that about? I have no idea!), and how she hopes we’ll be able to spend many more Thanksgivings together.
Although I pride myself on my ability to “keep it together,” I couldn’t help it. I got a little emotional, too.
It got me thinking about…everything. Fame. Food. Lurvies. Gratitude. I have so much to be thankful for, least of which is that I have a roof over my head, because when you grow up on the streets like I did, you don’t take that kind of thing for granted.
And my fans. They’ve been so supportive over the years. They’re the best fans in the whole entire world. Without them, I’d be just another drop-dead gorgeous cat.
I’m also thankful I’ve been able to continue kitty modeling at a peak level for almost 10 years. How many other cats out there get to say that they’ve lived their dreams?
I feel like I can also say that I’ve made a difference in the world, and of that, I’m proud. I’ve brought joy to other cats and people through my modeling and philanthropy.
Above all, I’m thankful for the people who mean the most to me, and that’s why I’ll be spending Thanksgiving at home.
James Franco and the rest of the crew will just have to entertain themselves without me. No jet-setting or party hopping for me this year. Just a cozy day at home with my favorite assistant and her male companion/my personal trainer.
I’m really looking forward to watching movies, spending time with loved ones and eating all day long. Maybe I’m just getting sentimental (or just hungrier and lazier, haha!) in my old age, but that sounds great to me.
Thank you for listening, diary. I’ll try to save you some turkey and gravy, haha. No guarantees!
I hope this is the best Thanksgiving ever.
Love,
Tabs

Sounds like a good way to celebrate, Tabs! Quincy will be spending the holiday at the local rabbit sanctuary for a bunny vacation while we head up north for a few days to see my parents.
Tabs says
Sounds divine, Chelsea. Will the resident kitties be holding down the fort?

That’s the plan! I also get to check in on my nephew cat Frankie while my brother’s out of town. He’s a husky size Siamese cat model / research assistant.

Happy Thanksgiving Tabs! Hope you get lots of turkey and gravy. You handsome boy!
Karen says
Hi Denise,
Believe it or not he’s all about the gravy! Whenever I give him turkey he licks all the gravy off leaves the meat for later. 🙂
Will you be hosting this year?
denise S says
Girl for the first time in over 20 years I will not be hosting Thanksgiving !!! My family is meeting in Fort Lauderdale at a nice restaurant. We have a lot to be thankful for this year. I looking forward to relaxing, eating and enjoying the family! No work for me yay!!! What are you guys doing? I know you will have a great holiday with your little one on the way!!
Karen says
Oh yay for you! I’m happy you’ll be able to just kick back and celebrate, woo hoo! Have fun relaxing and enjoying your family at the restaurant. 🙂
We are going to have a chill Thanksgiving here in Novato. My parents are out of the country and El Hub’s family has plans, so we’re doing a T-day lunch with turkey and all the sides. I ordered a pre-made meal at a nearby market, so all I have to do is heat things up, which I’m very excited about. I might try to make a cobbler — we’ll see.

Good you get to relax this Thanksgiving. Carrying around a baby all day is amazing but tiring . I’m curious about the pre-made holiday meals. Let us know how you like it. I might go that route myself sometime.Cobbler is one of my favorite desserts!
Karen says
I’ve done it before and it really depends on where you get the meal, but it’s great. You get a pre-cooked turkey (you can decide how big you want it), and then pre-made sides and dessert if you want to round out the meal, too. You pick it up the day before or the day of, so it’s cold, but then all you have to do is warm it up in the oven. Most places have even give you a timeline of what should cook first and last. It’s awesome! A few years ago I ordered from Whole Foods and it was OK. I wanted to do something different, so this year I’m going with a local market. My mom’s also done holiday Safeway meals, too, and I remember them being pretty good and affordable too. 🙂
I bet if you looked around online you could find a few places; I think some restaurants do it too.
