Tabs and I really enjoyed reading your thoughts on why pets love stinky things and thought it might be fun to learn a little more about your furry (or furless, whatever the case may be) friends.
Same idea as the Monday Poll. Just copy/paste the list at the bottom into your comment.
I can’t wait to hear about your canine, feline, amphibious, reptilian (or other) companions/employers.
Who is Tabs the Cat? About three years ago I befriended a stray, flea-bitten tabby cat with a bad case of worms. I could see he’d fallen on hard times, but his profound knowledge of high fashion and department store cosmetics led me to believe that he was more than meets the eye. We became fast friends, and now he’s actually my boss (and a successful kitty model). 🙂

We’d started out calling him “F.T.,” which was short for Fussy Tabby, but that didn’t stick. At some point, F.T. just became Tabs, and he’s had the name ever since.
He’s about five (going on 40).
Tabs is an 18-pound black and gray tabby with patches of orange on his nose and tum. While he fancies himself coming from a long line of feline royalty, officially, his breed is American Short Hair (but don’t tell him).
Well, when I met Tabs back in 2007, he was a scraggly, flea-bitten stray kitten who hung around the apartment complex I was living in. He kept his distance at first. I’d see him perched up on a hill next to our unit, or slinking around the parking garage, but he’d never walk up and say hello.
Believe it or not, he was actually a skinny kitty back then, LOL! So skinny that I was worried that he wasn’t getting enough to eat, so one day I bought a box of dry food and set some out on a plate by the front door. When I’d hear a noise, I’d watch him through the peephole, sneaking up every few days for a meal. Then it was every other day, and then every day, until eventually, I guess he just started to think of El Hub and me as his humans. I was more than happy to take on the job of being his assistant.
I’ll let you in on a secret. Even though Tabs likes to front like he’s a diva, he’s actually a really sweet boy — outgoing, affectionate and loving. Wherever you are, that’s where he wants to be, and he follows me from room to room. People who meet him say he’s almost dog-like in some ways. He loves to go out for walks on his leash, runs to the door when El Hub gets home from work, and even plays fetch!
His feather teaser toy. It’s basically just a bunch of feathers at the end of a piece of string dangling from a plastic stick, but he stalks those feathers like they’re attached to a wild turkey! It’s so much fun to watch.
Fancy Feast in gravy, of course! It doesn’t really matter what flavor it is, as long as it’s in gravy. He also loves sliced turkey (the kind for sandwiches). And fresh zinnia leaves.
Although he was never convicted (there was a lack of evidence), he’s the prime suspect in last year’s Christmas tree incident.
Sometimes when I’m writing at my desk, Tabs will jump on my lap, drape his upper body across my right arm (always my right arm) and take a nap. For the record, it’s not easy to type with 18 pounds of cat on your arm, but he’s just so blasted cute when he does it that I can’t say no.

1. How did your pet come by his/her name? Well, she was given “Pepper” when she arrived at the shelter. When I adopted her, I kept “Pepper,” but also called her a bunch of other cute kitty names. One of them, “Sweetie Pie Pie,” just became “Pie Pie,” and now when I don’t call her by her full name, she is just my pi.
2. How old is your pet? By vet estimates, 8 in February.
3. Can you describe your pet’s appearance? She’s 10 pounds of bigger-than-average torbie beauty. She has big green eyes, a pink nose, a brown “m” on her forehead, and a really furry tummy. Her tummy hangs low, too–she’s not really a plump kitty, but she used to be! At the shelter, she was about 13 pounds. I got her down to 10, but her tummy never quite got back to normal–it sways when she walks!
4. How did you become your pet’s personal assistant? At the shelter, Pepper was famous for biting, scratching, growling, and not being easy on volunteers cleaning her cages. She was there for over a year. The shelter has a great foster program, and my sister-in-law took Pepper in, thinking that being out of a cage might help her be less mean. My SIL got Pepper to be much calmer, but still very shy. She didn’t like people much. One week, SIL asked me to pet-sit for a weekend while she was in NYC. I figured, “Sure, I’ll go scoop litter and give food.” Well, as soon as I agreed, SIL said, “Great! By the way, it’s a long weekend. I’ll drop her off at your place on Tuesday! Be back Sunday!” Well…whoa. I love cats, but my hubs didn’t. We thought she’d mostly hide anyway. Except that as soon as SIL brought Pepper over, she hopped out of her carrier, did some apartment recon, and climbed right into my lap. She snuggled me all night and has not left my side since.
5. How would you describe your pet’s personality? Sweet with some attitude! She loves snuggles, chin scratches, and forehead kisses. But she doesn’t love everyone, and she’ll nip you gently if you do something she doesn’t like. Pepper’s very loyal to me, and doesn’t like sharing me much.
6. What’s your pet’s favorite pastime or toy? She’s a lounger. Sleeping in the sun or getting forehead kisses would be her thing. But if you give her masking tape pieces, she’ll love you forever!
7. What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods? She gets Weruva canned food and loves it–chicken breast, tuna, calamari, shrimp, veggies. And she loves her Innova treats!
8. When was the last time your pet got into really, really big trouble? She scratches the furniture when I’m late with dinner. My husband just chased her around the house.
9. What’s one of your favorite things about your pet? Whenever I come home, she runs to meet me as soon as she hears the garage open. She’s always waiting for me to come inside, so she can give me head butts and purrs!
Molly says
I used to have a tortie that would bite me on occasion. I should probably change it to ‘nip’ like you described since she never really bit me to hurt, just convey she wasn’t pleased. I loved her so much. She lived to be about 22! 🙂
Your kitty sounds super cute. 🙂
Megan says
She’s my baby girl. I hope she lives as long as 22! She gets the best food, treats, etc. to prolong those nine lives. 🙂

1. How did your pet come by his/her name?
Mister used to be ‘Misty’ as named by the woman that fed the cat colony in the alley behind my house. SInce he had just been neutered and still had the thick tom-cat neck, I thought Misty was too feminine for him. So I changed it to Mister, since he would know we meant him since it sounded so similar.
2. How old is your pet?
Mister is about 12-14 years old.
3. Can you describe your pet’s appearance?
Mister is a glossy back and white big boy, about 14 lbs (he likes his dry food) who should wear an eye patch, since one eye doesn’t work properly, but we can’t find one in his size.
4. How did you become your pet’s personal assistant?
My mom called a local animal group because she was concerned about the kittens and growing cat colony in the alley. They got involved to trap and release the feral cats and to treat the bad conjunctivitis most of the kittens had. The friendly kitties were taken into foster homes to become pets. The non-friendly ones were going to enjoy their time in a yard and shelter one of our neighbors let them have. Mister had been neutered and needed a place to recuperate, so we took him in. We also wanted company for our other black & white cat, Shamu, that was the last of his litter mates. We thought Shamu could use a friend. Mister’s a scaredy cat but I like that since he doesn’t wander far from our house when we let him outside.
5. How would you describe your pet’s personality?
Quietly demanding. He used to not meow at all, just sit and stare in your face until you picked up on his brainwaves of what he wanted, which was usually to ‘freshen’ his kibble.
6. What’s your pet’s favorite pastime or toy?
Mister’s very mellow, so he likes to nap on the couch or on the porch in warm weather. We live in NY, so in the winter he likes to lie on his memory foam pad in the front window to look outside and enjoy the heat from the radiator. He likes his feather stick too but in small doses. He used to bring me sparrow ‘presents’ but we had a talk about that and he stopped.
7. What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods?
Mister, my neighbor calls him Mister Piggy, really likes his dry food but has learned to like people food too. He likes the ‘chicken man’ a.k.a the Chinese Food delivery guy, since he brings him chicken.
8. When was the last time your pet got into really, really big trouble?
Last month, I adopted a cat friend for him. She’s about 10 years old and very dominant. Mister was a little stirred up because we had a new cat and got in a tussle with Pee-pee Kitty (my nickname for the grey and white male from down the street that used to pee on my house) and knocked some of the stuffing out of Pee-pee. I wasn’t too happy but Mister seemed okay with it.
9. What’s one of your favorite things about your pet?
He’s very mellow but you can tell when he’s in a wiley mood and will swat you (playfully) when you walk past him in the dining room. I like that he is happy to see me when I come home. I like that he sleeps in the cutest positions and has learned to let me cuddle with him on the couch.
Antonia at Swedish Love Affair says

– 2 years!
3. Can you describe your pet’s appearance?
– He is very majestic! Although, some people think he reminds of Dobby in Harry Potter:)

5. How would you describe your pet’s personality?
– Very independent, completely non-aggressive and very playful.
6. What’s your pet’s favorite pastime or toy?
– Chasing wild rabbits during our walks.
7. What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods?

1. How did your pet come by his/her name?: I thought it would be cute to name my cats Rock n Roll and Jazz. When I went to the shelter to pick them out, they were named Shera and Abrasha. I changed the names.
2. How old is your pet?: They are both 3, but Jazz is 2 months older.
3. Can you describe your pet’s appearance?: Rock n Roll is a black and white domestic shorthair mix, and Jazz is a Bombay mix with plush, gorgeous black fur. Rocky has apple green eyes and black markings on three legs behind the joints, and Jazz has yellow eyes.
4. How did you become your pet’s personal assistant?: After the family cat Buttercup died in 2008, I decided that I wanted to become a single cat mom. I went to a shelter in East Harlem and picked out Rock n Roll (Shera). There was a cat named Betty who wasn’t there anymore, so I decided to hold Jazz (Abrasha) and see how we got along. He pawed at the cage and meowed after they put him back. I felt so bad, I just had to adopt him!
5. How would you describe your pet’s personality?Their names describe them perfectly: Rock n Roll is rambunctious and rebellious, and Jazz is really mellow, laid back and cool.
6. What’s your pet’s favorite pastime or toy?: They like bottle caps, cardboard boxes, and feather teasers. They also go after my expensive makeup brushes when they can get them. And pens. They enjoy sleeping my bed or on window sills.
7. What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods?: Tuna, fish, and potato chips. Jazz is the Potato Chip Bandit. They also love bread. I have no idea why.
8. When was the last time your pet got into really, really big trouble?: When Jazz broke a plate. He hid in the closet for hours. He knew Mommy was not happy.
9. What’s one of your favorite things about your pet?: They make the best cuddlers and foot warmers. 🙂
Adrienne says
The cat that I had at my parents house when I was younger liked bread dough! Like you know those pillsbury breadsticks or croissants that come as dough all rolled up in a can and all you have to do is put them on a pan and cook them? She loooved a little bite of the uncooked dough!

I know that writing about 2 pets will be a pain for people reading, but Shameless (my horse) felt that the large animal set has been ignored for far too long. He is impatiently waiting for his modelling debut with the Evolution Revolution but his assistant has been forgetful in delivering his tube. (and you thought cat divas were difficult!)
1. How did your pet come by his/her name? I have two pets, a dog named Lily (she came with it from the rescue) and a horse named Shameless. He was named after the Garth Brooks song (not by me) and he definitely has lived up to it!
2. How old is your pet? Lily turned 10 this summer and Shameless is 22 or so.
3. Can you describe your pet’s appearance? Lily is the typical black and white border collie with lovely brown eyes. Shameless is a skinny thoroughbred, mostly black with 2 white socks on his hind legs and a teeny tiny white star on his head and again lovely brown eyes. (Im such a sucker for those brown eyes)
4. How did you become your pet’s personal assistant? Lily had been returned to the shelter in Wyoming 3 times and was slated to be put down. The Nebraska rescue saved her and after a bit of foster care with them, I found her on the website. Weve been pretty inseparable since. Shameless was owned by another trainer and had been at some of the shows around. I was 16 and looking for a horse to move up with. I rode him just to give him a workout since I had no horse at the time. We flew over jumps (really felt like flying!) and he kicked the wall and tossed his head and I loved every second of it. A month later, my stocking had carrots and a note from Santa to deliver the treats to Shameless for him. Hes been bossing me around for nearly 16 years!
5. How would you describe your pet’s personality? Lily is sweet, loving, quiet, mostly dignified, very smart, and super cuddly. Shameless is a diva and stand-offish to most, but when noone is looking hes a giant puppy-dog looking for pets, licking my hand, nibbling on my shoelaces and trying to crawl in my lap.
6. What’s your pet’s favorite pastime or toy? For Lily its frisbee, ball or running with me. For Shameless, since hes retired, munching grass with his buddies or best of all standing nuzzling the mares (what a player!)
7. What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods? Lily is nuts for Greenies and cheese Goldfish. Shameless likes carrots and apples (sliced of course…. god forbid he bite it like a normal horse!)
8. When was the last time your pet got into really, really big trouble? Lily was 3 or 4 winters ago when she jumped the fence into our neighbors yard, jumped out the back of their yard and ran off down the block after a squirrel. She lost her dog door for over a week and was not allowed to be off leash. Shameless hasnt gotten in trouble for a looooong time, but it is annoying when he slams his nose into my back for attention. Or making me hike 20 acres to catch him. Or dragging his feet as we walk up to the barn…..
9. What’s one of your favorite things about your pet? Lily is my best friend. She just gets me, loves me unconditionally, always up for playtime or snuggle and is a great companion. With Shameless, I love that hes a total diva and has attitude with everyone else but is loving when its just us. Plus, his spunky attitude is what makes him so fun to ride! If he was perfect, Id be so bored! When wed have a good show round, he knew it and would do a couple play bucks. He prances when hes proud of himself. Very diva. And then come dinnertime, he sprays the grain all over himself chewing. The different sides are so great!
Chris25 says
You have a horse? I’m so jealous! Wanna trade Shameless for one of my cats? LOL.

4. How did you become your pet’s personal assistant?
I met Mischa at the richardson animal shelter. She had a couple of siblings, the people at the shelter said they were all girls, but they could have been all boys for all we know. She was the cutest little girl i had ever seen. And i wanted her. i came to get a little orange and white tabby, and i had her picked out. but i walked into the room again to go get herand i looked to my right and saw a cage that i had not seen yet. in it was a mother tabby, and three siamese kittens. OMGAWD!! i fell in love!!!! so i picked the first and only one that i held. 1. How did your pet come by his/her name?
I named my adopted dog Kyllie because my boyfriend and I were looking for a cute human name that started with a K, because my name starts with a K as well. I heard a Kylie Minogue song come up, and we settled with that.
2. How old is your pet?
She approximately 4 years old (according the the shelter) and according to one of her past vets, she may be 6. We don’t know, but we’d like to go with the younger age hahaha
3. Can you describe your pet’s appearance?
Kylie is a Cockapoo, a cocker spaniel and poodle mix. She’s about 18 pounds, has light beige fur that is wavy and curly in some areas. She has HUGE brown eyes and looks like she wears black eyeliner =). She has long floppy ears.
4. How did you become your pet’s personal assistant?l
My boyfriend and I were visting local shelters because we really really wanted a dog. We found her in a shelter in Pinole,CA, looking all shaggy because her fur was not cut in a long time. Her fur actually looked white too, but after a bath, haircut and new diet she became golden. She is like a best friend to me!
5. How would you describe your pet’s personality?
She’s very quiet around humans, but very loving. She loves people, loves to sniff and kiss them. She would love nothing but to lay on your lap all day. Depending on the dog, she either likes or doesn’t like them hahah! She loves cats, but cats don’t necessarily love her back, because she is pretty rough when she tries to play.
6. What’s your pet’s favorite pastime or toy?
Her favorite past time is to sleep! She likes all of her toys equally, she loves destroying them- that’s her goal in life, lol.
7. What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods?
Hard to say, because anything that is edible she goes for it! (not always a great thing!) If I had to pick one, I would say she loves her green dog mint bones.
8. When was the last time your pet got into really, really big trouble?
This morning, she went into the kitchen, found something and ate it. (I hate that!)
9. What’s one of your favorite things about your pet?
That she is so darn friendly to all people. And that she’s pretty easy to take care of!

1. How did your pet come by his/her name?
I have two Portuguese Water Dogs, Elmo and Molly.
Elmo’s breeder had a “fire” themne for his litter so the word “fire” had to be in his registered name. After much and long deliberation I can up Galaxy’s St. Elmo’s Fire. He is an AKC Champion so technically he carries a CH before his registered name. I chose this because St. Elmo’s Fire is a shipboard electical phenomenom and I wanted him to be phenominal in the show ring (he was). It also happend to be my BF’s father name, she said OK but warned me that I’d be getting a very stubborn dog (she was right). We call him Elmo, Smell-Mo, Mr Handsome, and Elmer.
Molly came with her registered name–Starlite’s Aloha Leilani. I think that means Hello Princess. Well, I didn’t want to call her Lani (reminded me of Loni Anderson and I was not a fan) so I thought and thought. The Spousal Unit is Irish (off the boat) and Molly Malone is a famous Irish character of song selling her cockles. Being a seafaring breed I thought this appropriate. Well, imagine my surprise when much later I learned that Molly Malone was really a “ho” which no doubt accounts for my Molly being the hottest piece of arse where ever she goes. So, Molly, Molls, Schnoodle, Mollster.
2. How old is your pet?
Elmo is 8.5 YO and Molls is 7.5 YO.
3. Can you describe your pet’s appearance?
Elmo is a very handsome “typey, huge-headed,” all-black wavy PWD who is “graying” and is starting to sport a very cute white goatee. Molly is a black and white “Irish” marked wavy PWD. She is quite a pretty lass.
4. How did you become your pet’s personal assistant?
Around here the SU and I are known as “The Dog Butlers.” How did this happen–well, they wrapped me around their great big paws and learned to tell me what they wanted/needed. We communicate well.
5. How would you describe your pet’s personality?
Elmo is funny, loving, jealous, and very protective of me. He is in charge of household security and does a fine job. Molly is reserved, tolerates no foolishness, and just wants to be petted and feed, and feed, and “more please.”
6. What’s your pet’s favorite pastime or toy?
Food, Napping, Food, Treats, Food, Mulch, Mulch, Barking, Pool Water, Mulch, Barking, Walks, Leaves, Sticks, Car rides, and a daily game of fetch, and Food.
7. What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods?
Mulch, Mulch, TP, paper towels, all food, Purina Carvers, Fish Skins, any paper product.
8. When was the last time your pet got into really, really big trouble?
Molly for stealing an entire salmon filet off the counter (MINE!), before that for eating a corn cob which required vet induced womiting, her second corn cob. (Very dangerous because they do not digest.) (FYI PWDs are known for being notorious counter surfers.)
I recall Elmo once stealing an entire honey baked ham (still packaged) off the counter and being half-way out the dog door ’til I caught him. What’s a few teeth marks?
9. What’s one of your favorite things about your pet?
Elmo is such a love bug. Every morning after the SU gives him a piece of banana, WITHOUT FAIL, Elmo comes over and starts licking my feet/legs. I have no idea why, but it is a daily event. He also tattles on Molls–when she goes into TP shredding mode he will run downstairs and alert the SU. Somehow the SU knows that is what Elmo is telling him–“It’s her! I had nothing to do with it!
Molly is a funny girl. When out on a walk she will sort of lift her leg in a weird yoga pose to pee (sort of like a male dog) but never at home. She loves to ride in the car and sits in the back seat like she is people and looks around. (Actually, she is people. PWDs are not really dogs, but small furry people.) She is THE MOST food motivated dog I have ever known (as is her litter sister Target). If Elmo gets “too silly” in her opinion, she will sit by him BARK until he stops. She does not tolerate foolishness. She also has a habit of “pawing” you when she wants petting. But her most endearing behavior is her repeated daily praying. This is a spontaneous behavior, not trained. On the various padded ottomans in the house Molly will put her torso on the top, with her back legs bent/kneeling on the floor–we think she is praying for more food “because we starve her” in her opinion. She is very spirtual.

How did she come by her name? I volunteer at a shelter and I saw a pretty dog with one blue and one brown eye. Made me think of David Bowie. That dog was adopted quickly before I could get her, but I soon found my sweetie and named her Bowie.
How old? She was a stray so we don’t know for sure, but she’s been with us for 10 years.
Her appearance? She’s a beautiful black lab. Smaller in size than most, with a white patch on her chest. (she also has a lovely grey mustache and beard)
How did I become her personal assistant? When we went to meet her she jumped into my husbands arms. Love at first sight.
Her personality? Goofy! and ridiculously sweet.
Her favorite pastime is rolling around on her back in the back yard (aka BowieLand). She’s got some good moves.
Favorite snack? Cheese or peanut butter.
The last time she was in really big trouble I was so mad at her I had to go outside into the back yard and left her in the kitchen. Thinking she was really learning her lesson I checked back in on her an she was standing on the kitchen table. Even when she’s being bad she’s a goofball.
Favorite thing about her? She’s always there for me. And when I watch tv she’ll snuggle on the couch with her head on my lap.

I love this topic!
1. How did your pet come by his/her name? Enzo came with his name. I love it and it TOTALLY fits him, but I can’t take credit for it.
2. How old is your pet? I think he’s probably around two. His shot/ neuter records all have different birth dates and ages, so I’m going to have to choose an official birthday for him!
3. Can you describe your pet’s appearance? Enzo weighs 18 pounds, too, so he’s in the same weight class as Tabs! He is a black and tan mix- he kind of looks Dachsundy, but he has longer legs and more terrier-like ears. His shot record from the county lists him as a “German Shepherd Mix” (hahaha!) so I have dubbed him a Mini German Shepherd.
4. How did you become your pet’s personal assistant? I became his personal assistant back in June. When I contacted his previous assistant (the guy who was fostering him- he found Enzo in a parking lot), he told me some other people were already interested in him. I was sooooooo heartbroken. Luckily, they didn’t follow through, and I’ve been Enzo’s sidekick ever since.
5. How would you describe your pet’s personality? He’s pretty shy and skittish, and it takes him awhile to get used to people. I’ve tried taking him to the dog park (this dog can JUMP. It’s crazy.) but he totally freaks out. He starts barking and snarling at all the other dogs. On his own though, he’s super cuddly and not at all ferocious.
6. What’s your pet’s favorite pastime or toy? He loooooves chewing on the hoof pieces from the feed store. He also just likes hanging out on the front patio, watching the world go by/ protecting me from intruders/ catching lizards.
7. What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods? Chewy Milk Bones. Enzo requires one as soon as I get home from work each day. He is also a big fan of cereal milk. And strangely, vegetables.
8. When was the last time your pet got into really, really big trouble? So far, he hasn’t really gotten into much trouble. *knocks on wood*
9. What’s one of your favorite things about your pet? He has so many funny quirks, which make him like, the perfect dog for me. Now that it’s cold, instead of sleeping on my bed, he sleeps under the blankets. He jumps up and looks at me like, “Well?” and waits for me to lift up the blanket so he can crawl under it.
Karen says
Enzo sounds like he’s got so much personality! That’s funny how he loves vegetables. Does he have a favorite type of veggie?
jen. says
He LOVES spinach. Haha. When I cut up onions though, he comes running across the house like I have something totally amazing (but he’s not allowed to eat those because they’re bad for dogs).

1. How did your pet come by his/her name?
I have two lovely girls named Negra (which means Black, in spanish) because she’s well, black; and Peca (which means freckle), because she has a black spot next to her nose, Ã la Marilyn Monroe’s mole.
2. How old is your pet?
They’re about a year and 10 months old.
3. Can you describe your pet’s appearance?
One is black, the other one is black on the top and has a white belly, chest and legs, with the aforementioned mole.
4. How did you become your pet’s personal assistant?
My previous cat went missing and after a few months I was desperate for a new cat. I heard cats are much happier if they are not alone, so I adopted two sisters that came from a litter a vet found near his house.
5. How would you describe your pet’s personality?
Since day one Peca has had a big personality, she was the only one from the litter to come near me when I came to pick them up. Negra was terribly shy, so scared of everyone, now she loves her mama (me) but she still runs away from strangers. They’re both really sweet and affectionate and very unlike the typical meanie cats that ignore you.
6. What’s your pet’s favorite pastime or toy?
Chasing a laser pointer or a moving light reflected from a mirror.
7. What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods?
They eat high quality dry food and don’t crave for anything else.
8. When was the last time your pet got into really, really big trouble?
Every time they bring me the neighbors’ socks and underwear as a gift, the precious lovely babies…
9. What’s one of your favorite things about your pet?
When I leave the house they beg me not to go. They meow with a dramatic sad tone, they roll on the ground for a belly scratch and they chase me for a good distance. Sometimes they even wait outside until I come back.
Karen says
Oh my gosh that is too funny about the neighbor’s socks and underwear! They must look hilarious dragging their “treasures” down the street!
Maca says
It’s cute/funny until you realize you have to have to walk 3 blocks (my cats climb the wall at the back of our yard and land on the house right behind ours, that faces a street parallel to mine) to give your neighbors back a HUGE bag filled with their underwear! Once one on my cats brought pajama bottoms, not small shorts, but adult size pants, I don’t know how she did it…

1. How did your pet come by his/her name?
I don’t really know, she just looked like a “Missy.” We figured it’s a good name for when she’s being cute “aww, Missy…”, or when she’s being not so cute, “listen, Missy!”
2. How old is your pet?
Approximately 7 years old.
3. Can you describe your pet’s appearance?
She’s a mostly all black cat with a white belly and one white spot on her chest. She’s definitely on the “husky” side.
4. How did you become your pet’s personal assistant?
Shortly after we moved into our house she started appearing in our back yard. Eventually we put out some food, she decided we were suitable and she came on in the house the first chance she got and settled in.
5. How would you describe your pet’s personality?
Demanding, entitled, but very very cuddly.
6. What’s your pet’s favorite pastime or toy?
Favorite pastime, napping. Favorite toy, her catnip mouse.
7. What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods?
She will only eat dry food, nothing moist. Currently she’s all about the Whole Foods 365 dry cat food and Temptations cat treats in any of their seafood flavors.
8. When was the last time your pet got into really, really big trouble?
About 5 years ago she went through a peeing in the living room phase. Yeah, that was fun!
9. What’s one of your favorite things about your pet?
She loves to hang out on my lap and cuddle.
Karen says
Husky cats rule!
I love that Missy deemed you suitable and then moved right on in as if she already owned the place… It’s that kind of diva behavior that I’ve come to expect from her, you know? 🙂
Heidi says
Oh, yeah, a diva from day one! She’s currently fast asleep on my lap.
Christine says
This is so fun :D! I loved learning more about Tabs.
1. How did your pet come by his/her name?
On our way home after I was hired as his assistant we drove by one of those gated neighborhoods called “Bradford Place.” Looking down at the kitty in my lap Bradford just seemed to fit, so Bradford it was :D. He’s also known to go by Brad, Bradford Pear, and Pear Butt as well though :P.
2. How old is your pet?
Oh gosh, he must be 8 & 1/2 by now! He wears his age quite gracefully though :P.
3. Can you describe your pet’s appearance?
Brown & grey kitty with very long luxurious fur. Pretty small framed and maybe 11 pounds? But he looks bigger because of the massive amount of gorgeous fur he has.
4. How did you become your pet’s personal assistant?
He was actually born to a feral mother in the woods & then abandoned. Our vet took him and his brother in, and we took them both home :).
5. How would you describe your pet’s personality?
Just like mine actually! He’s a shy boy (at first) & always hides when there are strangers around. Some call it “snobby,” but really he just needs to warm up to you. Once he does he is a bit of an attention-ho (shhh, don’t tell him I said so!) always meowing for cuddles or treats and underfoot or keeping an eye on me. Oh & when he’s in a really good mood he gives kisses like a dog!
6. What’s your pet’s favorite pastime or toy?
Sleeping. Or reigning over the home.
7. What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods?
Those soft kitty treats that come in the plastic tube you can shake. He would eat an entire tube in one sitting if I let him.
8. When was the last time your pet got into really, really big trouble?
Ay, there was an incident with a scorpion. He certainly learned his lesson about playing with those who are smaller than you that time :(.
9. What’s one of your favorite things about your pet?
His personality! It’s so distinctive. If not that then the way he enjoys laying right in front of any book I’m reading (I mean why would I read when I can pay attention to *him*).
Karen says
Pear Butt is a such a cute name, aww!
Did you teach him how to give kisses, or was it something he figured out on his own?
Katherine G says
*I have had few pets in my life, and rode and trained horses for many years. I will write about one of the horses I rode for a few years (I always had the “problem” ones that I ended up bonding with and riding for 2 to 3 years at a time, until they changed barns or I got another project of sorts) *
1. How did your pet come by his/her name?
~My favorite horse was a fat palomino (golden with a white blonde mane and tail) named Trigger. He was named that because he looked like Roy Roger’s Trigger to a certain degree.
2. How old is your pet?
~Trigger was around 8 and fresh out of his bronco days when I rode him. He was 18 to 20 I believe when he moved to another barn, for some barn swap thing they did with horses.
3. Can you describe your pet’s appearance?
~When I first rode him, he was in good weight, but over time gained a lot of weight when other people rode him and didn’t like his bucking (so they didn’t ride him much and I had other project horses to train at the time – not mine, by the way, and I was in school, so my training time was limited to whatever horse I got to train). He was a golden color with a white spot on his cheek, and a white blonde mane and tail (palomino). He was a Quarter Horse/Appaloosa cross gelding.
4. How did you become your pet’s personal assistant?
~He kept throwing riders off his back (particularly beginning adult), and I was assigned to ride him. We got along, I was able to stick out his bucks and Hi Ho Silver antics, and it was love at first sight. I ended up riding him for 2 years.
5. How would you describe your pet’s personality?
~He could be very ornery at times, was very smart, and knew how to get out of things he didn’t want to do. He loved jumping but hated flatwork and would protest by bucking whenever anyone tried to get him to do any form of dressage. He was also a good, smart little trail horse and good for bareback riding, especially when he’d put on a little weight. He was a lot of fun and great mount to the end.
6. What’s your pet’s favorite pastime or toy?
~He loved jumping and trails 🙂 He was good at the Open Jumper division and was fun for the schooling shows here and there that had jumper events like Gambler’s Choice.
7. What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods?
~Oh, he’d eat just about anything…would do anything for a carrot. I swear, if I’d show that horse carrots before a training session or lesson he’d be awesome for that whole hour or two. He was a sucker for those carrots.
8. When was the last time your pet got into really, really big trouble?
~Oh probably when he bucked off beginning adult riders. It was kinda entertaining to watch but I felt bad for them too. He got in trouble for being ornery with a lot of people.
9. What’s one of your favorite things about your pet?
~I always loved how even though he could be so ornery, he’d try his hardest at anything I asked him to do. He was a horse with a lot of heart, and it was very sad to see him age, and eventually leave the barn. He is still one of my favorites to this day and I think about him a lot.
Allison says
The first horse I rode was a fat palomino named Angel. Glad Im not the only one with horse love here. 😉

2. How old is your pet? she will be 5 in 4 months
3. Can you describe your pet’s appearance? she is adorable in my eyes, she is a long hair chihuahua so she is fluffy and warm to cuddle up to, she has these big eyes that look at you and know how to get what she wants, when she stands up and puffs out her chest and flicks up her ears she looks like she can take on the world but then she runs and hides behind me… she is a little sook but i love her. She is black with little tan feet and white chest
4. How did you become your pet’s personal assistant? she is a chihuahua.. do i need to say more? hehe
5. How would you describe your pet’s personality? affectionate, bubbly but at times… very lazy and sleepy
6. What’s your pet’s favorite pastime or toy? sleeping or terrorizing her banana man
7. What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods? she is a picky eater but she does like to eat a little corner of cheese or some chicken when she is allowed to
8. When was the last time your pet got into really, really big trouble? she rarely does, she is too little to wreck anything, but she does get in trouble when its bathroom time and decides she cant be bothered leaving the house
9. What’s one of your favorite things about your pet? the excited look u get when you get home from work and she is happy to see me and just that bond i feel that no matter what.. she loves me even when im having a fat day, a bad day or a sad day.

(LOVE this poll BTW :))
1. How did your pet come by his/her name?
When I adopted her at 3 months, her name was Rosanne but due to her birthday (July 4th), I knew it had to change. What did it change to, you ask? Liberty.
2. How old is your pet?
Libby (her nickname) is just over 16 months old now.
3. Can you describe your pet’s appearance?
She is a tri-colour Sheltie. She is mostly tan colored with some dark features on her head, back, and tail. She might get more darker as she ages because she used to be mostly tan with no dark. She is really small, especially for a Sheltie. At about 13.5 pounds, she looks like a fox. She has the most beautiful brown eyes which is her best feature.
4. How did you become your pet’s personal assistant?
I found Libby on petfinder from a local pet rescue. She was in a litter of 6 and the pups were given to a shelter from a breeder (so she is purebred). The rescue brought her over with all the other pups (in a tiny cat carrier because they were THAT small). It was Libby’s picture that first peaked my interest but when she was the first to lay on my lap and playfully interacted with our other dog (a 100-lb Rottweiler!), I knew she was the one.
5. How would you describe your pet’s personality?
She is equal parts playful and terrified. She LOVES to play. Especially fetch, “getting her” (which entails grabbing at her legs and back while she barks and hides and comes back out again), and running. She really comes alive around other animals and will jump around like a bolt of lightening to play with the other animal (dogs and cats alike so I hope Tabs is dog-friendly :)). However, she is very jumpy and scared of sudden, loud noises and people. The vacuum is her nemesis.
6. What’s your pet’s favorite pastime or toy?
Fetch is definitely her favorite pastime. She can play fetch all day, everyday and whenever I bring her to my mom’s to play in the backyard, all she does is play fetch and while she is not, she is whining to go play! Her favorite toy would probably be this little plush dinosaur that squeaks and crinkles like plastic is inside.
7. What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods?
Libby is not very food inclined, but she loves her Frosty Paws (dog ice cream) and human food, like hot dogs.
8. When was the last time your pet got into really, really big trouble?
She got in trouble when she chewed up a box in the living room and started chewing on the carpet. She is, in general, a very well-behaved pup though and honestly I don’t really blame her for that day. Shelties have so much mental and physical energy that if you don’t keep them engaged, they will chew up your house! So I try to keep her entertained and when I do so properly, she doesn’t mess with anything of mine.
9. What’s one of your favorite things about your pet?
Libby is my baby. I love so much about her, I can’t just name one favorite thing! In general, she is such a beautiful, loyal, intelligent, and well-behaved dog. I am so proud of her. I am so happy she is in my life. I love that she sleeps with me at night and I love her gentle and sweet personality. She is one of my greatest companions in my life.

1. How did your pet come by his/her name? I named DeVille after the Cadillac Coupe DeVille (preferably a late-50s model) & Ruby from the song “Ruby, Baby” by Dion & the Belmonts. My husband’s cat, Sylvia, was named after his grandma’s cat, Sylvester.
2. How old is your pet? All 3 cats are 10-11, maybe 12. Hard to tell with strays/rescues…but they’ve owned us for 10-12 years. Sylvia has been in my life for 8 now.
3. Can you describe your pet’s appearance? Well, DeVille is a small Maine Coon, black/grey/cream tabby looking but with loooong fur (he’s 20 lbs! but not fat.) Sylvia looks like a miniature version of him, she is 5 lbs fully-grown. Ruby is a domestic shorthair tabby, same coloring but well, short hair. And veeerrrry overweight-she should weigh 8-10 lbs, but weighs 22.
4. How did you become your pet’s personal assistant? I had moved out on my own, & was lonely, so I went to the humane society to get a kitty. DeVille was about 8 weeks, & passed the eff out. I spent 10 minutes poking & pulling through the cage door to wake him, he finally rolled over, stretched, meowed, & walked up to the door, stuck his paw through the cage & rested it on my cheek like he was petting me. He made the decision for me. Ruby came along a few months later-heard little sad kitten meows, opened the door to see who it was, she walked up to me, meowed once, walked inside, beat the snot out of DeVille, then they curled up together. When I told the vet the story, she said DeVille was lonely & he allowed her to stay, (& lied, I said I had put up posters that I found her but no one called to claim her, when I didn’t put up a darn thing!) My husband took Sylvia from a co-worker, her son was too young for a pet.
5. How would you describe your pet’s personality? DeVille is real chill, but feisty-super sassy. Talks back, will bite if you’re not paying attention, attacks feet, loves to play the “get the hand or toes under the blanket game” but he’s my handsome boy! He also fetches. Ruby is the perfect lap kitty (although heavy), she loves attention & will only play with toys when we’re in bed & she’s in the other room. She also walks on a leash. Sylvia is our bipolar cat-she will go from super sweet & snuggly to psycho freak attack in a heartbeat. I have scars from her. She is a crazy mouser.
6. What’s your pet’s favorite pastime or toy? Ruby-naps & eating. DeVille-naps in the sun. Both love to sit at the all-glass screen door & watch the world go by. He also chirps at birdies outside, & likes to talk a lot. Sylvia-sun bathing, mousing, drinking water out of anything but the waterdish.
7. What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods? All 3 enjoy catnip, treats, & any type of smelly beef canned foods that make me gag. Sylvia likes Kraft Mac & Cheese, DeVille enjoys nacho cheese Doritos, & Ruby will eat any human food any time. She takes “no thank you bites”, will try anything once.
8. When was the last time your pet got into really, really big trouble? DeVille peed on the couch last week & was grounded into the bathroom for a good couple hours; Sylvia scratched the heck out of my husband & got a swat. Ruby is perfect.
9. What’s one of your favorite things about your pet? Ruby-I love her sweet nature. DeVille-I love talking to him (the hubs can’t tell if it’s my meows or his if he’s in a different room than us!) Sylvia-her crazy-pants-ness.

1. How did your pet come by his/her name?
Me and my two previous roommates adopted Daphne the cat from one roommate’s coworker. I couldn’t go pick her up with them, but on the way back they decided to name her, and wanted to name her something with a Greek theme since we all met in a class with a trip to Greece. At first I wasn’t crazy about it, but now it’s totally grown on me 🙂
2. How old is your pet?
A year and a half-ish
3. Can you describe your pet’s appearance?
She’s calico-ey but mostly white with calico splotches down her back and on her face. She’s got a little black splotch on he mouth that I always mistake for something in her mouth. And a cute pink nose that I like to kiss 🙂
4. How did you become your pet’s personal assistant?
She was in dire need of one. She came from a very disorganized home (and a mom of loose inhibitions, lol). At first she needed an assistant to help her get comfortable in her new home, but she slowly learned how to manipulate using her cuteness and is now the boss!
5. How would you describe your pet’s personality?
A little manic, a little whiny, all together too curious and mischievous for her own good, but loving and sweet in her own way.Â
6. What’s your pet’s favorite pastime or toy?
My hairties. Despite how many feathery, catnip filled toys I buy her, my hairties are her absolute favorite.Â
7. What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods?
Her pounce snacks, Friskies food, and chewing on plastic shopping bags if I forget to hide them.
8. When was the last time your pet got into really, really big trouble?
When all the rug she tore up cost her mommies lots of money out of their security deposit
9. What’s one of your favorite things about your pet? When she jumps up on my bed at night, the first thing she does is sniff my nose, then I kiss her nose and she curls up to sleep. it’s always a nice moment 🙂
Also, sometimes she follows me around like Tabs does you, following me from room to room and sitting down wherever I stop. It always makes me feel so loved 🙂
Her ears must’ve been burning, cuz here she comes to say hello and investigate my phone!

How did your pet come by his/her name?
We called our cat Pippi after Pippi Longstocking – another smart, curious and adventurous little girl.
How old is your pet?
Nearly 5 months.
Can you describe your pet’s appearance?
She’s a beautiful silky little tabby with black spots on her white tum, which I’ve never seen before!
How did you become your pet’s personal assistant?
A friend returned from holiday to find their housesitter had bought a kitten and left it there (WTF?!) and when they asked if I could take it on I gladly accepted! After a little hiccup (they changed their mind and wanted to keep her even though their neurotic dog went for her every chance he got…) she finally came home 3 weeks ago.
How would you describe your pet’s personality?
Amazingly curious! She sits on my shoulder while I brush my teeth because she’s fascinated by the electric toothbrush. She’s also very loving, she loves cuddles.
What’s your pet’s favorite pastime or toy?
When she’s not sleeping she loves playing with anything that moves. Especially click beetles.
What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods?
Tuna. The look on her face when I get out a can… “GIMME!”
When was the last time your pet got into really, really big trouble?
When we have the front door open, she loves climbing the screen door and jumping on to the top of the open wooden door. Which is about an inch thick. It gives me a heart attack every time I find her up there.
What’s one of your favorite things about your pet?
I’m totally in love with her. Everything. If I had to pick just one, I love the way she comes up and bumps my nose with hers every so often. It’s like she’s giving me a sweet little kiss.

She is 3 years old in 12 days! 😀 Party time!
3. Can you describe your pet’s appearance?
Slightly plump gray tabby, with soft brown rabbit-fur belly. And a white chin.
4. How did you become your pet’s personal assistant?
On my mission to adopt a cat, she fooled me by being the quietest and calmest in the room. LIttle did I know that was a ruse to get into my home and run amok.
5. How would you describe your pet’s personality?
Very very stupid, easily surprised and bitey.
6. What’s your pet’s favorite pastime or toy?
Magic worm. She even carries it around in her mouth like a dog.
7. What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods?
Fresh, lush grass. She will scream if she sees me carrying some, and literally tear it from my hand.
8. When was the last time your pet got into really, really big trouble?
When she escaped from her bed in the middle of the night and attacked my 15 year old kitty who wouldn’t hurt a fly (they are not friends 🙁 )

How fun to do a poll for pets!
1. How did your pet come by his/her name?
My husband is a jazz fan, so Mingus was named after jazz musician Charles Mingus. We call him Mingy, for short.
In keeping with the music theme, Ella is named after Ella Fitzgerald.
2. How old is your pet?
Mingus is young, maybe a couple of years old. We’re not sure b/c he was a stray.
Ella is middle aged – we think around 5.
3. Can you describe your pet’s appearance?
Mingus is a 12 lb gray/black tabby. He’s got green eyes and pretty marking around his face.
Ella has some tabby stripes, but she’s brown and gray and she’s got white fur on her neck and belly. She’s got a cute white patch near her nose.
4. How did you become your pet’s personal assistant?
Mingus showed up in our garage one evening. I saw him I took the trash out and he was standing there looking at me. He approached me and let me feed him. After that he started coming by on a regular basis. We officially took him in about a year ago and got him to the vet to get shots and neutered.
Ella was found by the daughter of some of our friends outside the pizza place where she worked. The family wasn’t able to keep her, so we took her in.
5. How would you describe your pet’s personality?
Mingus is playful, fun and so curious. He loves to go outside (supervised by mom, much to his chagrin) and roll around in the grass. He can be affectionate, but he’s not really a lap cat.
Ella is extremely sweet and affectionate. She loves to cuddle and get petted. Lately she’s become a daddy’s girl and will jump up on my husband practically as soon as he sits on the couch.
6. What’s your pet’s favorite pastime or toy?
Mingus loves to chase around balls of paper. He’s like a dog b/c he’ll carry the ball in his mouth and drop it near us so we can throw it across the room.
Other than sleeping, Ella loves to chase around straws and play with her catnip mouse.
7. What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods?
They both love their Fancy Feast, but the seafood variety only!
8. When was the last time your pet got into really, really big trouble?
When we first bought our house, my husband set up a major audio system in our living room. There is one floor standing speaker by the couch and one night when we were sleeping, Mingus got on top and hooked his claws into the back and pulled out this foam piece from the speaker. He had a great time chewing it up and chasing it around the floor, but my husband was furious. The worst thing is that he did it a second time a couple of days later.
After that, we put a Stay Away device in the area that has a motion sensor and emits air and a noise. Luckily that has worked, and we haven’t had any major problems since them.
9. What’s one of your favorite things about your pet?
Mingus is so playful and inquisitive. I love watching him chase his paper ball around the house or try to put his paw in glass to figure out the ice cubes.
I love that Ella is so sweet and affectionate. She’ll give kisses by rubbing her nose against mine. 🙂

1. How did your pet come by his/her name?
Holly’s full name is Holly Golightly, named after Audrey Hepburn’s character in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.” I *love* Audrey, so for a little while she was just called “Audrey Cat” until Holly finally stuck! Little Nero (my newest furbaby) is named after the Roman despot…. I thought it was funny!
2. How old is your pet?
Holly is about a year and a half, and Nero is about 4 or 5 months old (the jury’s still out on that one).
3. Can you describe your pet’s appearance?
Holly is a slightly pudgy, though still fabulous, Lynx-Point Siamese. She looks like a Snow Tiger, very fierce and exotic! Nero is a tiny stripey orange thing with bow legs and a skinny tail.
4. How did you become your pet’s personal assistant?
For Holly, I was looking around for a cat to run my life when my mother let me in on the kittens living outside at her boyfriend’s lake house. I eventually trekked out there only to find the most beautiful kitten I had ever seen! Holly and I worked out a deal, she would come stay with me if I kept her food dish always full and spoiled her rotten. With Nero, he played me like a fiddle. When I first met him he was a little scrawny and mangy, living in a cell at the local humane society. Though he was pretty young, I could tell he had a story. He had seen some things, man. I picked him up, he looked right up at me, and then fell asleep. It was love at first purr.
5. How would you describe your pet’s personality?
Holly appears to be tough and independent, but really she’s very lovably and kind. She’s very patient, but she also puts anyone in their place if they try to mess with her! At the shelter, Nero was described as being distant from his littermates, he didn’t play or interact with any of them. He did a complete 180 once I got him! He’s the most affectionate cat I’ve ever encountered, he always wants to cuddle or crawl in to my lap, or when he’s energetic he just plays and plays.
6. What’s your pet’s favorite pastime or toy?
Holly enjoys plotting her escape, which usually involves running out of the apartment to say “hello” to my neighbor in #8. She also loves stalking and then eating rubberbands. They both love ribbons! Nero also likes to steal all of my hairbands and loves to tear tissue paper to shreds.
7. What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods?
Holly goes crazy when Salmon is involved, in any form (except sushi, she wasn’t fond of that). Nero will eat anything. Really. Anything. He loves eating strange little scraps he finds on the floor, or he always pushes to see/get what I’m eating!
8. When was the last time your pet got into really, really big trouble?
Nero is just now starting to get feisty, so he likes to jump on people with his claws out. That’s never a good thing! Holly is honestly a sneaky, naughty cat, so she’s *always* getting in to trouble. Lately she’s been sneaking and eating all of Nero’s food, so he has none.
9. What’s one of your favorite things about your pet?
Holly knows her name, but she *only* responds to me when I say it! Since she’s a Siamese, she’s also very chatty, so if I walk in to a room and say her name she’ll look up and start meowing at me and chatting about her day. Nero is so cuddly and so sweet! When I’m laying down, he likes to crawl up and lay on the back of my neck and just purr. He also loves scents, and always notices when I’m wearing lipstick and he’ll try to lick it off! I know it’s a good lipstick when it can withstand the kitty kisses.

Lol I love this, especially since i just got a new kitty!
1. How did your pet come by his/her name?
Well, it literally took 4 weeks, he was Archer, then Sora, Edison, Oliver and finally on Halloween, I was telling my friend how I always wanted to be Princess Jasmine because I wanted a pet tiger. Well my kitten happens to be a stripy orange, so we decided he should be my “tiger” and named him Rajah after Jasmine’s tiger!
2. How old is your pet?
He will be 3 months on Wednesday
3. Can you describe your pet’s appearance?
He is all white on the bottom, with goldish orange stripes all over his top
4. How did you become your pet’s personal assistant?
On October 9th, I came back from a conference and went over to my boyfriends apartment where he surprised with me with a little kitten with a blue bow around the neck!
5. How would you describe your pet’s personality?
He is super cuddly and purr ALL the time. He also loves to play with hair and nibble on toes!
6. What’s your pet’s favorite pastime or toy?
He has this little mouse that you stuff with catnip and he has torn that thing to pieces in just a month. He likes tug-of-war with other toys, but if you try to take his mousey from him, WATCH OUT!
7. What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods?
He hasn’t really gotten to where he has a favorite, but he basically wants whatever mommy is eating
8. When was the last time your pet got into really, really big trouble?
Last night! He got onto my space saver in the bathroom and knocked a bunch of towels into the toilet!
9. What’s one of your favorite things about your pet?
I love that he follows you around meowing and all he wants is to be picked up and cuddled!

Sadly I have three owners, and all demand some sort of answer to each question. I’ll keep it short and sweet best I can.
1. How did your pet come by his/her name?
Darla – Was actually watching a buffy episode with her in my lap when I realized her hissy face looked just like the vampire’s face. It stuck.
Big Dee Snider – Originally I wanted to call him Honey Bear, but soon as I mentioned that my dad rolled his eyes and told me giant boy kittys need tough names. So since he was big and blonde, the name was born (I still cute it up by calling him “The Dee Dee Man”
Daisy – She had perfect little cow spots on her nose when she was a kitten, it was either Daisy or Bossy.
2. How old is your pet?
Darla – 7
Dee- about 6-7
Daisy – 2
3. Can you describe your pet’s appearance?
Darla – Tabby Calico mix in grey, orance, and white. Green eyes. She has the best disapproving face on the planet which we have deemed “Darla face.” As in ” I know you don’t like shots but you don’t have to make Darla face at me”
Dee – 17 pound blonde orange longhair with goldey eyes. He has a skinny face and the rest of hims is poofums.
Daisy – Slightly poofy Siamese Himalayan with blue eyes. Her momma was a red farm cat so no clue what her dad was. *Note: Pretty blue eyes are very vacant, nothing really going on in there.
4. How did you become your pet’s personal assistant?
Darla – A farm rescue. She would have froze to death out in the barn all winter.
Dee – Actually saw his previous people pull over on the highway and dump him out the door. I pulled over and got him. Their loss was my lovey gain.
Daisy – Another farm rescue.
5. How would you describe your pet’s personality?
Darla – Evil but sweet. She hates the others and insist’s on a three foot bubble of personal space between them and her, or she kisses and screams.
Dee – “The Teddy Bears Picnic” is his theme song. We hum it as he walks about. Nuff said.
Daisy – Troublesome, emptyheaded, adorable.
6. What’s your pet’s favorite pastime or toy?
Their toys are each other. However they all like to sleep on my computer tower on the exhaust port and overheat it.
7. What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods?
They would all crawl through fire for catnip. I’ve caught them many times making random leaps against the cupboard where it lives trying to knock the door open.
8. When was the last time your pet got into really, really big trouble?
They all spend most of their time knocking things over, throwing up on the bed halfway through the night, or causing general mayhem. We have learned to accept the fact that we can’t have nice things.
9. What’s one of your favorite things about your pet?
They keep my life very interesting. Every day there is another moment where I’m so happy to have found them all.
Lisa says
I can’t believe someone just dumped him on the side of the road! You did a good deed rescuing him 🙂

2. How old is your pet? 11.5
3. Can you describe your pet’s appearance? Tuxedo tabby.
4. How did you become your pet’s personal assistant? He’s our baby and keeps us entertained by playing fetch etc. it was not too much of a stretch to make sure he’s comfortable.
5. How would you describe your pet’s personality? He thinks he’s a dog

7. What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods? Wiskas packets
8. When was the last time your pet got into really, really big trouble? Not recently. When he eats pine needles he barfs on the basement floor. It’s good he’s not an outdoor kitty because he’d explode.
9. What’s one of your favorite things about your pet? That he’s a dog-cat and entertains our guests and that he’s good when friends come over. He’s also convinced several dog lovers to get a cat.

1. How did your pet come by his/her name?
I’ve got a Boston Terrier named Moose and a cat named Alvin. Both have been named by my son who is 11.
2. How old is your pet?
Moose is 9 years old and Alvin is about 3.
3. Can you describe your pet’s appearance?
Moose looks like a Boston Terrier. Smallish black and white with the smushed in face and bug eyes. She is so freaking cute.
Alvin is beautiful (he prefers handsome). Gorgeous orangey color. We just saw Puss In Boots and Alvin could be his body double!
4. How did you become your pet’s personal assistant?
We bought Moose for Max’s 3rd birthday. We came home with Alvin 3 years ago on Easter Sunday/ We went to my hubby’s mom’s house for dinner. His sister was there with a bunch of kittens that her cat had. Hubby’s mom was taking her pick and we would up coming home with Alvin. When he came home, he could fit in baseball cap. Now his fat butt and low hanging belly barely make it on the window ledge.
5. How would you describe your pet’s personality?
Moose is very laid back and easy going. Such a good girl. Alvin on the other hand should have been a dog. He greets people when they come in, he’s very inquisitive and a very social cat.
6. What’s your pet’s favorite pastime or toy?
Moose’s favorite pastime is laying in my oldest son’s bed and sleeping the day away. Alvin’s is stalking birds and squirrels from door to door, torture/play with Moose, and try to run out the door any chance he gets.
7. What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods?
Usually Moose will eat Alvin’s food and Alvin eats Moose’s food. Also, Alvin will open the fridge from time to time to see what’s in there.
8. When was the last time your pet got into really, really big trouble?
Moose has had a few accidents lately. Alvin always gets in trouble once the Christmas decorations go up. I’ll come home to decorations on the floor or stuff knocked off the tree.
9. What’s one of your favorite things about your pet?
I love how Moose will lay with you when you’re not feeling well. She just lays with you and chills. I love how Alvin comes up and pretty much throws his big heavy body against me to pet him and he loves having his furry belly rubbed.

I’ll fill this out for my oldest kitty, though we have 5 cats, 1 boston terrier and a mouse!
How did your pet come by his/her name?
Funny story. My kitty’s name is Pearlnutkin. xD My dad named him, it’s supposed to be a variation on ‘Squirrelnutkin’ I think, which is weird enough, but we thought he was a she at first because he’s a hermaphrodite! His boyish personality didn’t become visible till later, but the name stuck.
How old is your pet?
15, but doesn’t look a day over 3.
Can you describe your pet’s appearance?
Pearlnutkin is a small, lean ruddy abyssinian with bright golden eyes and a fiendish grin on his face.
How did you become your pet’s personal assistant?
Pearlnutkin was given to us by a friend of the family who bred abyssinians but couldn’t sell this odd genitalia-d kitten! I was but a kitten myself, and have been trained from the age of 3 onwards to be a diligent assistant!
How would you describe your pet’s personality?
He is aware of his noble purebred abyssinian lineage and won’t let anyone forget it. His ancestors were waited on by pharaohs, so why not him? In his old age our aloof Pearl has become quite a cuddle bug however. A warm lap must be available for napping in at all times!
What’s your pet’s favorite pastime or toy?
Sitting on my shoulder while I’m at the computer and drooling all over my neck.
What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods?
Fresh green beans! We can’t leave any out on the counter for even a second or he’ll scarf them down like pancakes!
When was the last time your pet got into really, really big trouble?
When I was eight he got in to the bunny room and killed my pet rabbit :'( It was horrible and traumatizing and I cried for weeks but couldn’t hate him for long.
What’s one of your favorite things about your pet?
Before I was Pearlnutkin’s assistant, my father was. Pearl was always kind of a daddy’s cat, practically living on my father’s shoulder. As a little kid I was so jealous-I wanted Pearl to sit on MY shoulder too! I remember the first time Pearl leaped up there, the claw marks were like a badge of honour. After my dad moved across the country Pearl allowed me to be his permanent roosting post, and every time he wraps himself around my neck I feel rather special!
Karen says
Your Pearl sounds like a sweetheart (despite the bunny incident). I’ve been especially obsessed with abyssinians lately. They’re so regal and elegant!
Lucia says
1. How did your pet come by his/her name? My pet chinchilla is Penelope, like the name, it sounds like a chinchilla name for me, regal, don’t know, she looks like a Penelope, Penny for short sometimes, Peesh others
2. How old is your pet? two years old
3. Can you describe your pet’s appearance? FLUFFY, very fluffy, a ball of grayish fluff, with some minor defects according to her anxiety level.
4. How did you become your pet’s personal assistant? Before Penelope there was La Femme Nikita (name after Luc Besson’s film), she was the most bitchy chinchilla in the whole planet, hated women, peed on all my female friends, loved men. She was very vocal if she did not like something, she even got electrocuted and survived the ordeal. I loved her to death, and she died after 7 years with me. The same day she died (a Sunday) we went to a pet shop because I could not stand the empty 2-floor cage, then I saw Penelope and felt in love again, she is not a replacement for La Femme, she is a whole different history….she does not pee on me to start…
5. How would you describe your pet’s personality? She is very calm, friendly, likes to be scratch under her chin, on her ribs, tickle her ears, and jumps all over me. She does not like to be held though. Now, she can get stress out if we go away. She starts pulling the hair of her tail, and thighs, crazy!!!! then when things go normal again, she becomes hairy again…
6. What’s your pet’s favorite pastime or toy? hay, and parsley sticks, they don’t last more than 4 hours probably, and those sticks are expensive!!!!!!
7. What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods? Same as above, chinchillas don’t have toys, they like to destroy things basically… like books.
8. When was the last time your pet got into really, really big trouble? Penelope was never in trouble, but La Femme Nikita got electrocuted once: she bite into a no well hidden electrical wire, she caught fire and started rolling in the carpet, the apartment stank of brunt hair. I grabbed her, took her to the vet, she peed on him, and bite the instrument with which he was trying to make a diagnosis. She only had a bit of burnt fur in her lip and tiny paws (she grabbed the stupid cable!), and ended up with temporally black incisors. She was her whole self after that.
9. What’s one of your favorite things about your pet? that she is a ball of the softest fluff known to men.
Lisa says
1. How did your pet come by his/her name? His name, Rambo, was given to him by the previous owners (we adopted him at about 1 year old). He has lots of nicknames though. My favorite is “Tiny puma”, which my boyfriend made up.
2. How old is your pet? 4
3. Can you describe your pet’s appearance? He looks a lot like Tabs, but a little more stripey and a little skinnier. Same cute mascara 🙂
4. How did you become your pet’s personal assistant? I found his profile on Catster when I was looking to adopt a cat and fell in love with him. We adopted him from a rescue near here.
5. How would you describe your pet’s personality? Loud and very dog-like! He follows me around the house, always waits in the window to see when I’m coming home, and sleeps on me.
6. What’s your pet’s favorite pastime or toy? Definitely a little stuffed fish with feathers for a tail. He’s gone though quite a few of them.
7. What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods? He will eat anything! Seriously, other than pet food, his favorite foods are avocado, butternut squash, goat cheese, bread, and lettuce (but the only one he’s allowed to eat is the lettuce). He once stole a piece of naan off my plate during dinner too!
8. When was the last time your pet got into really, really big trouble? We got a new down comforter, and he peed on it twice. He had a perfect record with the litterbox, so we were really surprised. Apparently he didn’t like the smell of goose down.
9. What’s one of your favorite things about your pet? He’s very interactive. He likes to cuddle, talks a lot, and always waits for me by the door/front window to get home.
Kate & Zena says
1. How did your pet come by his/her name?
We haven’t the slightest idea! She came with her name and we forgot to ask.
2. How old is your pet?
7 5/6 years old. She turns 8 on January 5!
3. Can you describe your pet’s appearance?
She wears a black and white tuxedo and a mask and has little tan accents. Oh, to add a little flavor, she wears her tuxedo backwards, has HUGE expressive triangle ears that can hear a bag of chips opening from a mile away, huge light brown eyes, and a witch’s broom tail (y’know, the little two inch ones with the flick on the end? Yea, that kind of tail)
4. How did you become your pet’s personal assistant?
My mom found her photo on her past owner’s website saying she was up for adoption. We weren’t really looking to adopt as we had just lost a puppy dog three days earlier, but her big, expressive eyes “spoke” to us and we had to have her. After many, many conversations via the phone and e-mail, her owner chose us as her new owners and we drove 2.5 hours there to get her. The rest, as they say, is history.
5. How would you describe your pet’s personality?
How to describe Zena. Oh geez. Needy. A complete and utter goofball. Stubborn. Hilarious. Attention hog. Spunky. A great sense of individuality to the point you would think that she was a human reincarnated. The kind of dog that will find a way to completely take over your life in aspect in every way. I guess that’s the best way to describe her. Honestly, I guess the best way to describe her personality is to read her stories!
6. What’s your pet’s favorite pastime or toy?
Her favorite pastime is sleeping; her favorite toy is a stuffed dog toy she stole from me. She thinks it as her puppy, I think. It’s the one toy she hasn’t destroyed. She carries it around EVERYWHERE.
7. What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods?
Zena’s favorite dog treats are Greenies and these little beef treats from Jewel. She also LOVES her raw diet food. Human food wise, she loves scrambled eggs, bacon grease (poured over her food. She loves it. Makes her coat shine like a 200-watt bulb), chicken with white rice, warm carrots, green peppers, cheese, bread and anything pasta. She’ll try anything once though, but I’m very picky as to what she gets. No need to poison her!
8. When was the last time your pet got into really, really big trouble?
Zena loves the outdoors and so a few weeks ago she decided to bolt out of the front door. I’ve been working with her quite a bit of reducing this habit of her’s, but she got out because my mom wasn’t paying attention! Boy, she was in biiiiiiiiiiiig doo doo with Mommy!
9. What’s one of your favorite things about your pet?
I love how expressive and affectionate she is. She may be frustrating, but she will give you loads of kisses! She’s very expressive, so watching her sleep is pretty hilarious as she expresses everything she’s dreaming of! Most of all, I love her company because she makes me feel safe and happy.
BeckBeck says
1. How did your pet come by his/her name?
She was named by shelter workers before we met her. My hubby and I had dozens of witty hipster names picked out for her, but she knew “Patches” – when you say her name, she looks right at you – and we decided to keep it.
2. How old is your pet?
She’s estimated about ten years old, but doesn’t act that old. She also hates being handled, so the vet can’t get a good look at her teeth to corroborate.
3. Can you describe your pet’s appearance?
She’s like a mini-Tabs – same coloring, but she only weighs eight pounds. She gets compliments on her pretty green eyes.
4. How did you become your pet’s personal assistant?
My husband (fiance at the time) and I had been talking about getting a cat for some time, and we finally went to check out a cat rescue last summer. We met with many cats, and apparently the offer of a private litter box and no pesky kittens was too good for Patches to resist.
5. How would you describe your pet’s personality?
She likes things done on her terms – she has very little patience to be petted or played with if it isn’t her idea.
6. What’s your pet’s favorite pastime or toy?
She loves catnip mice. She also caught a real mouse once, which she was thrilled with – I think she was totally baffled when we took it away from her.
7. What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods?
Patches also loves her some Fancy Feast, but only the chicken-based ones. We get the Chicken Feast Variety big packs.
8. When was the last time your pet got into really, really big trouble?
Probably before she met us. Worst thing she’s done since moving into our apartment is use my couch as a scratching post, and that was solved by a slipcover.
9. What’s one of your favorite things about your pet?
She’s adorable and always makes me smile.
Rebecca says
1. How did your pet come by his/her name? I don’t really remember. I think just cuz she was a cute little kitty and Abby is a cute name.
2. How old is your pet? We think she’s around 5ish. She was probably 2ish when she was found but we don’t know for sure.
3. Can you describe your pet’s appearance? She looks pretty tabbyish with gray, black, white, tan. It looks like she has very precisely applied eyeliner. She is getting a fairly large tum on her and has the cutest, shortest, stubbiest legs.
4. How did you become your pet’s personal assistant? We initially got her for my MIL. We got her at PetSmart as a rescue kitty. Initially we were looking at another cat but that one wouldn’t even come out of his cage. Abby jumped out of hers and came over and rubbed on our legs and was such a little love. We ended up taking her almost 2 years ago when MIL couldn’t keep her anymore and I’m so glad!
5. How would you describe your pet’s personality? She is the sweetest, most precious little creature. We use the back door of our apartment and as soon as she hears the gate she runs to the door to greet us and she’s quite the talker; she answers whenever we talk to her. She started out shy and wouldn’t sit with us but now as soon as we sit down she’s on one of our laps just purring her sweet little head off.
6. What’s your pet’s favorite pastime or toy? She loves her little mouse toys and her cardboard scratchers.
7. What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods? She loves her “din din” of wet food with gravy; but she won’t eat anything except the gravy. And she gets 1 or 2 “snackies” every day. She can be in the other room sleeping but if she hears the word “snackies” she’ll come running.
8. When was the last time your pet got into really, really big trouble? She hasn’t ever really gotten in trouble. Although ever since she’s been allowed supervised playtime in our little backyard she tries to run out whenever we open the door.
9. What’s one of your favorite things about your pet? She is the just the sweetest little thing she makes my heart melt. And watching her go from a scared little stray to the “pound kitty turned diva” that she is now has been awesome.

1. How did your pet come by his/her name? I have two hedgehogs: Tumbleweed and Lunabelle, both are rescues so they came with those names. TW is very big now, so we call him Tankers, His Royal Fatitude or Bigguns. Lunabelle is just a baby, not quite 8 months old, and I call her Miss Contrary, Stinkerbelle, or sometimes just ‘ATTITUDE!”.
2. How old is your pet? TW is 3 yrs old, and LB is just over 7 months.
3. Can you describe your pet’s appearance? SPIKY! TW is a stunning natural blonde and LB is a chocolate snowflake (honest, that’s what it’s called) and has racing stripes on her sides.
4. How did you become your pet’s personal assistant? They both needed homes, so they hired us to clean poop out of their wheels.
5. How would you describe your pet’s personality? TW is really a lover. He wants to cuddle and have his back and belly rubbed. LB is a spiftire. She is stil very skittish so it’s hard to get to know her, but she does love to charm new people into thinking we’re crazy for calling her a troublemaker.
6. What’s your pet’s favorite pastime or toy? Wheeling or sleeping.
7. What are your pet’s favorite snacks or foods? TW eats a varied diet of cat kibble, baby food and bugs. LB just eats kibble b/c she’s growing.
8. When was the last time your pet got into really, really big trouble? TW pooped and piddled on my fave FBI shirt, so that wasn’t much fun, and LB bit me really hard. I still have a scar.
9. What’s one of your favorite things about your pet? They’re unusual, and I get to educate people on hedgehogs. But, really, I love that they’re so cute and sweet.

1. How did your pet come about her name?
Magnum is my boyfriends hunting dog, aptly named after a favorite gun. She’s Maggie for short.. Mags for super short. She’s only really called Magnum when we need to get her attention/shes in trouble! My bf brought home a kitty recently. Her name’s Smokey. She’s whitish with a charcoal face and ears. It kind of looks like she stuck her head too close to a fire and got smoked out!
2. Mags is 4 and a half ( her first litter of 11 puppies is almost 9 months old!)
Smokey’s just a babe at 5 weeks. She’s tiiiiny!
3. Mags is a purebred English Black Lab. She’s magnificent. Pure shiny black with brown-orange eyes. She’s over 100 lbs.
Smokey’s mostly bone colored with a charcoal face and tail. She has 3 charcoal splotches on her back.
4. I’ve known Mags since she was a wee pup of 6 months or so, but the man and I only got together when she was 2. So I’m mama to her now and couldn’t be happier about the title! I became assistant to the kitty only 3 days ago, but am taking my reponsibilities very seriously! She came to us flea ravaged and too young to use flea medicine on, so she got a bath in Dawn dishsoap (she was a pretty good sport about it) and I removed over 100 fleas off her the day she came home. Poor thing! She’s much happier now!
5. Maggie is a very special girl. I swear she looks me in the eyes sometimes and I know exactly what she would say if she could speak. She’s super affectionate and likes to be as close as possible to me at all times. Right now shes snoozing next to me on the couch with the kitty nestled under a paw. Awwwwww! The kitty likes to sleep and eat right now, but I’m sure her personality will come out more as we get to know her. She’s cool for a cat (I’m a dog gal and wasn’t quite sold on the cat til I met her) likes to snuggle, is nice to the dog (and the dog is very patient with her!)
6.Mags is extremely smart and knows over 20 tricks, and will do any one of said tricks to get us to throw a ball for her. She’s ball crazy. Loves going for walks everyday. She keeps me active thats for sure! All I have to say is, “Wanna go for a walk?” Ears prick up.. “Go get your leash.” And she’ll run and grab it. She loooooooves going to our cabin at the lake in the summer and
swimming! Could never keep her out of the water. Loves fetching her ball on dry land and in the water. She’d probably have no will to live if there were no balls in the world. Smokey loves to play with her mousetoy attached to a fishing rod like a lure!
Kitty fishing! So fun.
7. Maggie will do anything for bacon. Once in a while if shes been reeeeealllly good she’ll get a bacon-wrapped scallop. Poor girl has very bad food allergies, she’ll allergic to wheat, gluten and dairy so no milk-bones or other treats. And she needs special food but it keeps her coat so shiny and she’s super healthy so it’s all worth it! I’ve been sharing my meals with kitty lol. In addition to fancy feast. So far she’s got to try ham from a ham sandwich and roast beef gravy. She loves milk. I’ll let her eat anything and as much food as she wants because she came to us sooo little and looked kind of starved. Fattening up already!
8. Hmm. Maggie’s pretty good.. she does get in trouble for trying to get guests to play fetch with her in the house. Kitty got stepped on yesterday when a friend threw the ball for the dog. Poor kitty! Mags is huge and the kitten doesnt weigh a pound yet. She’s fine though, and it didn’t teach her to stay out of the way of the dog yet!
9. Omg. Mags’s puppies!!! We bred her with another purebred black lab and her pups were the sweetest little bundles of joy. there was 11 of them! When they came it was the happiest day of my life! (I obviously haven’t had little ones myself yet lol) Maggie was such a good mama to them, and they were so healthy! Each one went to a good home and we get to see 3 or 4 of
them grow up as friends bought them from us! They have the cutest names too, all of them. Our friends named the girls Ridge, Beretta, Maya and some of the boys names are Hoku, Mac, Duke, Punchy, and Rango. She’ll have more pups in the springtime. Cant wait!
I love that the kitten is so small and soft and cute. What’s not to love? The 2 of them are the best company.
