I always miss Tabs like crazy when I’m on the road, but this time, before leaving for Vancouver, I took preventative measures. Not only did we keep in touch remotely via the Skype Tabby Cam, but I also loaded a few pictures of him on my laptop before I left.
Yeah…you know you’re a full-blown cat lady when you get a call in your hotel room from the front desk because of reports of loud meows coming from your room.
Um, yeah, that’s just me Skyping my cat.
But I’m not ashamed. Fellow cat ladies, stand proud! 🙂
What’s the craziest cat lady thing you’ve ever done?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Hope you had a good weekend. My flight got in late this afternoon, so I’m back in the Bay again. Right now I’m just resting on the couch with Tabs (are you watching Game of Thrones?). Vancouver was a lot of fun. Gorgeous town, friendly people, good food — I can’t wait to go back. I’ll try to share some more pics tomorrow. Sleep well, friend. Talk to you soon.

I *may* put my two cats in bowtie collars for special occasions. That is only something I’d admit via the veil of the internet. Can I help it that Target sells such cute cat clothes?
Keep the beauty (and Tabs) posts coming.

Hahahahah!! I love it.

Well my kitten is only 9 months old and I have over 900 pictures of her… I think that is pretty crazy in a sense:) I also sing songs to her, written and produced by myself! Although, she doesn’t appreciate it!

I’m more of the CDL (Crazy Dog Lady) . . . I am going to have to leave him behind as I go spend a month with my parents this summer to help them out (Mom’s health is bad). I’m figuring out how I can leave him in our apartment, with people to come and get him and walk him and throw things for him and feed him! And I have definitely Skyped with my parents’ dog, and if I have the opportunity to Skype with Echo while I’m gone, I will. And I have tons of pictures of him on my phone and on my laptop already! 🙂 He’s got the biggest, brownest, puppy-doggiest eyes EVER! And sometimes he sits there, and his big pink tongue falls out the side of his mouth . . . awwww, I am SUCH a sucker!

So far, I’ve rescued three stray cats from the back yard. One seems to have been “thrown out” when people were moving out of an apartment, and two were kittens from an owned but unspayed female, which were just left to roam outside (one had been neutered, the other hadn’t). I also stop to help animals who’ve been hit by cars, if possible (freeways aren’t). =( I just wish people would neuter their pets; we have so many homeless animals already.

One of my cats has his own MySpace page, complete with many cat (and dog) “furriends.” I suppose that’s pretty CCL.

When I was a teenager, we had 6 cats at my parents farm. Originally there were only 3 but we got another 3 straying cats that stayed in the end. They were so spoiled! They slept in our beds, they got food whenever they wanted, we always cared for them staying healthy… Cats belonged to my life since I have been a little child! My parents still have two cats from this pack – and I always enjoy to seem them on weekends.

I threatened to leave my boyfriend if he didn’t agree to let Jazz live with us. Yup, I chose my cats over my boyfriend. Crazy cat lady and crazy girlfriend all in one!

*salutes* Good choice!

I leave my cat and dog messages on our answering machine when I’m away. I know, I’m nuts. I also make my husband hold the phone up to my dog so I can talk to her but we had to stop b/c she would bark at the phone and think I was trapped in it and then when he hung up she’d hang out by the door expecting me to walk through it. Poor puppy…

This is what’s on my cat’s plate right now: Shredded chicken breast, duck liver, carrots, ahi tuna, rice, prawns, and lobster.
…that might be all I need to say about my CCL level. 🙂

Finally I found somebody that shares my love of cats. I have my Furbizzles at home (grey and white tabby, 8 years old and 12 healthy pounds) and its been so painful not being able to hold him cause I was preggos and now have my baby daughter. 🙁 I do give him his favorite catnip and he goes crazy but my parents are showering him love so he’s pretty happy.
I love your blog and keep up the great work!!!
Moarrrrrrr pics of kitteh!! 🙂 Ciao!

I live my CCL days thru you and tabs as my kiddos have severe asthma and allergies. Before I had my little ones, I had cats all my life. Love cats and love your posts 🙂

Karen–please, if you don’t mind, explain how you set up your cat kitty cam!! I’ve always wanted to do this as I miss my cat dearly when out of town as well!!

Tabs looked so expressive in the picture where he posed next to a box of Physician’s First Choice canned food. I’m a CCL without my baby Belly for now. Which means I’m full-on crazy 🙂

When I had cats I think I was between the second and third level of CCL’ness, had three of my own and also fostered a bunch of kittens from the shelter. Last year two of them died within a month of each other from various illness and the oldest boy disowned me two years ago because he didn’t appreciate my help when he got really sick(medicine given by needles, placing a catheter where he didn’t want). He’s been living with my mother. My BF and I are obsessed with Game of Thrones and that last episode was awesome in the WTF kind if way. Actually my BF loves it so much that he really upset that it’s almost over and he couldn’t stop yelling at the TV after what happened during the last episide. It’s that awesome, I just bought the first book to read over the summer.

I don’t blame you for being like that, Tabs is such a cutie! 🙂

I have never posted before but part of the reason I love your website is that you are a crazy cat lady like me with a makeup obsession:) So here goes – I have two kitties – Rusty and Toby and Rusty has asthma. It took us months and thousands of dollars worth of tests to diagnose him last summer and my husband calls him “Ponzi” because “he is not worth the investment.” So I guess people would say the craziest thing I do is have a cat that I have to use an asthma inhaler on twice a day! People are always shocked that I didn’t return him to the shelter when we found out he was so sick – can you imagine? But I also do ridiculous cat lady things like come home and check on them midday if I think the A/C might not be on and it’s hot out. They are also allowed to pick their spots on the bed and then I have to shimmy under my sheets like a ninja around them. My husband says he wishes he had seen this side of me before we got married recently. He is only half joking I think!
Tekoa says
I’m a CCL past the point of no return. I have three cats Morrie (ten year old orange longhair), Luna (4 year old siamese) and Jasper (3 year old torbie manx) and a husband as smitten with cats as I am. The craziest cat thing I’ve ever done is try to write cat themed poetry. I have Data’s “Ode to Spot” bookmarked.
Oh wait, the total craziest cat thing I’ve ever done is adopt Morrie. We found him as a stray who had been left behind by his drug addled owner. Morrie took up residence in our yard. After the authorities could not locate his original owner we adopted him. Dispite the two cat maximum the landlord mandates. *cough* I was worried he wouldnt be adopted because of his age. We are flouting the rules, but it was the ethical thing to do.

Fortunately, I have a CCH (crazy cat husband) who understands these things. Our cats, Bedlam and Mayhem (aka Bear and May-May) have had to give up many privileges since their human brother came along. But, we try to spoil them in other ways since they don’t get the constant attention they once had.
I seriously broke into tears the first time I saw my son kiss the cat. He’s 18 months old now and can identify and call them by name. He says good-night to them before he goes to bed (night, night May-May) and it melts me every time. I guess I’m CCLM (crazy cat lady mom).
Girl says
I just cuddle them and kiss them

LOL did the front desk really call you? That’s amazing. I would’ve paid to see the facial expression on the guy’s face after you told him you were on skype with your cat.
I love all the photos! Does Tabs spend a lot of time in his cat tree? 🙂
I think Giz is rubbing off on Tigger, because he’s been very playful lately. He’s taken to throwing his second favorite toy, a little fish (his favorite is the stuffed gerbil that he sometimes snuggles with at night) up in the air with his paws and then chasing it. It’s really cute!
Gizmo has been getting more and more friendly. The only problem is that she has taken to howling really loudly when she wants me to play with her or clean her litter box, lol. I’m pretty sure the English translation is, “Servant! Oh, servant! Bring me my string and dangle it in front of my face!” I’m trying to train her to be a little less of a prima donna by waiting 5-10 minutes before responding to her calls. Only time will tell if it’ll work…
Karen says
They really called! I guess I *was* meowing kinda loudly. Plus, I had the “Cat-o-matic” app going, which is an iPhone app that has pre-programmed meowing sounds.
Yeah… totally CCL!
Tabs absolutely adores his cat tower. He especially enjoys sitting in the top “bunk.” It’s a good place for 1) bird watching and 2) exerting his dominance over his human minons.
I’m happy to hear that Gizmo’s slowly and surely coming out of her shell. Does she snuggle with Tigger?
Instant Karma says
Ha! That’s amazing. Well done :D. I think I need to download Cat-o-matic now. Do you have Cat Paint? It’s basically a rudimentary paint program where the only tools are cat photos — and they meow when you place them on the screen. It works well as a pick-me-up if you’re stressed (but anyone nearby will wonder why your phone is meowing at you).
The top bunk is always the prime spot for bird/squirrel watching and exerting kitty dominance! Plus, if the minions ever get out of line, you can just leap upon them and teach them a lesson. So practical!
Tigger and Gizmo sadly aren’t quite snuggly, but they do sit and play together a lot. They run around from room to room, and Tigger really does seem inspired by how playful Gizmo is. He has four toys he really likes, and they’re never in the same place in the morning as they were the previous evening.
Karen says
Do it! They have a free version that works really well. Tabs’ favorite kitty is the black and white one named “Bozo.” He always responds to him! 🙂
So I’ve decided that I don’t have nearly enough cat-themed apps on my phone. Will have to add Cat Paint, ASAP.
I bet it’s only a matter of time before Tigger and Giz are BFF. I bet he still misses Aisha and needs some time to mourn, you know?
BeckBeck says
I totally left voicemail for my family’s cats after I moved away from home a few years ago. My Blarney sat in my old bedroom for a week meowing in confusion. I think they’re over it now, and they’re even nice to my fiance when I bring him home for visits (normally they run as fast as they can from non-family humans).
Fiance and I have a tiny tabby who is a really loud meower as well – I’m surprised the neighboring apartments haven’t complained about her howling at 6am. It annoys her when we don’t get up early to feed her.

Hopeless cat lady…married to a devoted CCG(crazy cat guy). he brought two with him to our marriage. He is getting a kitten for Father’s Day!
Maribeth says
I love your Tabs pics, especially when he’s displaying the products you review. I myself am a Crazy Dog Lady; I have a beautiful 6 y/o sable collie named Shane and I love him to death! When we go away even for a weekend I can’t wait to come home and see my boy. He is a big love bug! My hubby is allergic to cats (seriously allergic) or I’d have a few of them as we had several cats when I was growing up. Your cat is very cool – he looks pretty mellow! I chuckle every time I see him caressing an eyeshadow or foundation, etc. Cracks me up. He has beautiful green eyes too. But I love my big fluffy boy Shane – he’s my bud and I even rush home every day to see his little face in the window waiting for me. Tabs ROCKS too!
Karen says
Hi Maribeth,
Yeah, Tabs IS pretty cool. He’s bit of a diva, but that’s what I love about him.
Your Shane sounds like a sweetheart! 🙂
