Tabs must’ve been up late last night on the computer, because when I got up this morning I noticed some new bookmarks of kitties with lion cuts.

Have you heard about this? Apparently, it’s the hottest thing in the feline modeling community.
He mentioned a few days ago that he wanted to change his look… I dunno, I like his fur the way it is.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
Tiffany says
Haha, I call my dog my little lion sometimes because the fur around his neck grows faster and gets curly and looks like a mane! I think you should go for it if Tabs wants it 🙂
Karen says
How cute! Is he part collie? They kinda look like they’ve got manes…
If Tabs asks me to take him to the stylist I won’t say no!
Tiffany says
He’s a mutt! He def has some springer spaniel and must have some larger breed in the mix since he’s like 60 lbs.
Karen says
He’s a big guy! I love big pups. They’ve got more to love. 🙂 How old is he?
Tiffany says
he’s 7! I freaked when the vet said he’s be considered geriatric after his next birthday 🙁
Karen says
I know that feeling. I can’t believe Tabs is turning 6! 🙁 El Hub and I used to joke that we lived with “a college student” and now Tabs is moving toward middle age. I wish our pets could stay with us forever.
steph b says
A woman I used to work with had to do that to her Maine Coon cats in the summer because it was so bloody hot. I swear the cats knew there was just no dignity in that look!
Karen says
What cracks me up are the paws! They totally look like they’re wearing snow boots!
steph b says
Totally 80s fuzzy snow boots.
Karen says
Or like the kitty version of Uggs, haha!
Denise says
I don’t know of any reason to subject a poor kitty to these haircuts.Unless it’s for medical reasons.
Terri says
My friend’s cat has a lion cut, and it is adorable :). However, it is also totally necessary because this cat is so large and furry that he can’t clean himself properly (this can result in a lot of unpleasantness for both him and his owners).
Karen says
Poor thing! Is he a Maine Coon? Those cats have a lot of fur.
marmar says
Eeek goodness no! Tabs is kickin it solid as-is!
(Not to mention, I hear they’re sellin’ lion tacos down in Arizona!)
Karen says
WHAT? Um, please tell me that’s referring to the size of the tacos and not the meat.
Stef says
Sadly, it’s actual lion meat. Terrible, huh?
marmar says
I wish it was. It’s actual lion meat! Poor kitties.
Karen says
I find this alarming. Is it a cultural thing? Or just something exotic?
Tracy says
No way! Tabs you are perfect just the way you are!
Heidi says
Missy and I agree we love our Tabs au naturel. When I asked Missy if she would ever go for something like this her claws came out, so I’m taking that as a “no!”
Karen says
I would not be surprised if Missy and Tabs spent the wee hours of the morning video chatting! 🙂
Heidi says
It would explain so much. Missy is always anxious for me to leave the room where the computer is located at the end of the evening. She’ll jump in my lap and keep me from typing, and then follow me into the bedroom to make sure I’m settling in for the night.
Karen says
Try to listen for the sound of claws against keys… that’s what I usually hear, LOL!
Michelle C. says
We used to get my cat groomed like that.
She looked beyond cute like that. We had it done because she’s got very long hair and we’re all allergic to cats!
Unfortunately, because of money we had to stop getting her groomed. (Though, in my opinion, the money we would save from lint rollers would make up for it!)
If Tabs does decide to get a new look, his fur will always grow out if he doesn’t like it. 🙂
Karen says
Good point! I guess it’s like the cat’s equivalent to getting bangs, haha!
mkdallas says
Oh, please don’t get Tabs a fashionista haircut! He looks awesome just the way he is. However, the blue “lunchlady” hair net featured earlier this week is the bomb and should totes become part of his regular attire.
Rosie says
my sister did it to her Maine coon because of “doodles on her bloomers”. it just looked so funny….
Arianne says
I think Tabs is handsome as he is now.
On the other hand, I remember when Scherbie had the shaved belly and it was really nice to kiss. If you’re a belleh kisser I’d consider the lion cut for Tabs. 😛
shelby says
no no no no no. tres terrible
jen. says
Noooo! Short haircuts always seem like a good idea at the time, but then growing-out? Ugh.
Stef says
I got lion cuts for both of my cats one time, because they seemed so miserable in the CA desert summer. I have to admit, I thought it was stinkin’ adorable! And they didn’t seem to mind.
And can I just say, Rosie – “doodles on her bloomers” may be the best quote I’ve heard in ages!
gio says
I think Tabs looks gorgeous just the way he is. 😉
Poupoune says
This is just… ridiculous. I’m a vet and sometimes I really don’t understand what pet’s owners have in their mind…
kirsty says
Those cats looks so silly!
I understand it for medical reasons, or if you’re living in a hot climate and your kitties are suffering… but as a fashion statement? No thanks!
Kim says
Oh, my! I’ll bet the kitties love sitting still for these cuts. Sort of like they’d love to be taken for a nice swim. 🙂 This is the first I’m seeing of the lion cut for cats since, where we live, they’re all wishing they had MORE fur. PS Minus 22 F today. 🙂
Nina says
might be cute … but Tabs is already so adorable, just the way he is! 🙂
Anna says
I got my long haired kitty a lion cut twice. But that was only in the hot hot hot summer time and it kept her from overheating. I see no reason to give a short haired kitty a lion cut. Also, my kitties cut was more tapered at the legs so it didn’t look like she was wearing boots. 😛
Kerry says
Tabs isn’t fluffy enough for a lion cut! Plus, he’s too adorable just as he is. 🙂
Lucia says
Lion cuts are really cute, but usually only really fluffy kitties need them. We used to give my old Himalayan kitty Snowflake (rip) a lion cut every summer, and she loved it! If Tabs gets really hot in the summer, maybe it would be worth getting him one :).
The girl in the yellow shoes says
I think Tabs is adorable the way he is.. but if he WANTS it I would say “Why not?”
Joyce B says
We had a long-haired cat that matted a lot. When the mats got too bad we had to have him shaved. He hated it. We hated it. I wouldn’t do that unless I had to. I love the fur on a cat.
veronica says
I used to get them for my 2 cats because I was allergic to the hair and this really helped with the shedding. They looked super cute, the only problem was that they didn’t recognize each other after and they hissed at each for the first week.
Camille says
I have a Norweigian Forest cat (similar to a Maine Coon) and I’m thinking of giving her a lion cut this coming summer since I don’t have ac. She was so hot last summer and would pant after playtime.
I think it’s really goofy-looking, but I don’t want an over-heated kitteh!
Cassi says
I think you should let him try it! If he doesn’t like it, it will grow back. Of course, that’s how I am with my own hair so I may be biased. Our hair is one of our best accessories. I love trying out new styles and colors.
You may as well let Tabs have fun! I am trying to talk my husband into it, but he doesn’t seem to be going for it. As sick as this is, I love the smell of a cats skin. Like after the skin is shaved for something like an ultrasound or xray, I love smelling it! I know. Its strange. *blush*
Emma says
Our two Maine Coons would do horrible things to us if we even considered doing this to them. They’re indoor cats so they don’t have to suffer summer heat.
Other than for medical or hygiene reasons I can’t imagine what would posses anyone to do this to their poor kitty.
Lesa says
those poor cats. lol that looks just awful.
Amy says
We have two shelter kitties. I would never shave a cat. How degrading. I think people that shave their cats are nuts!!! Although I did have a Maine Coon cat, and it was tough keeping her clean. I still wouldn’t have shaved her, ever.
auroragyps says
Lol, I just had to shave my cat’s chin & a bit of her top lip, because she has blackheads again. She’s so not happy with me right now. I blame the plastic kitty water fountain I tried out for her, because ever since then, she breaks out like her mommy. 🙁
Don’t shave Tabs. He’s handsome just the way he is. A fluffy kitty is a happy kitty.
Rachel says
haha i had a friend who had a cat with its fur shaved like that. he would hide behind the couch in shame.
Eleanor says
It looks king of fun, but I don’t know if I would do it or not (If I had a cat). If you decide you must, please wait until it warms up. Poor Tabs would freeze his patootie off.
