Our tabby was on fire this morning! I think something must have transpired overnight…either an alley cat jamboree, or perhaps a raging party with the local wildlife. I don’t know, but Tabs was in full-on poofy-tail mode, which was surprising because, you know, he’s kind of the king of the circle. He really doesn’t have anything to prove, so when we’re inspecting the neighborhood during our early morning rounds, it’s more of a maintenance thing. Sniff this corner, check out that corner. OK, everything’s copacetic, but today he was full-on orange alert tabby — tail poofed, big jumps off curbs, lots of intense wall sniffing.
I asked him if he was concerned, and he said no, but from his body language, I think he might have been a little bit nervous… But he’d never admit it. He’s too much of a cool cat.
I mean, I know that the “tail poof” is supposed to be a signal, but I kind of wish that his tail was that poofy all the time, like a bottle brush tail. I think it would be extra cute on him.
Oh, and can I just say — side note — that I caught Connor inspecting his crunchies this morning, and Tabs was such a good brother that he didn’t even get mad at her. He just let her check out his food.
Some cats are possessive, but he’s not.
Best cat ever. 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Tabs is such a good big brother, letting Connor Claire check out his food! Maybe he wanted to share with her 🙂
On-alert-Tabs is very handsome and intimidating!

I guess every now and again even the king of the crowd needs to show some outsiders their place.
He probably said no because he didn’t want to burden you, he seems to be caring and thoughtful like that.

I love the fluffy tail. He may have been excited since his fellow tabbettes got in on the free MAC lippie adventure on Friday. They were all looking so pretty !
Kim says
There must have been some unauthorized visiting in your neighborhood. At least they had the sense to high tail it out of there before morning rounds. 🙂

I love the poofy tail! So cute. Tabs is such a patient, good boy!

I love that you and Tabs make morning neighborhood rounds! I do the same thing with Tut, my handsome Aby Tabby (we pretty much just stay in the yard, but he still has lots to inspect). Puffed tail happens like commenter Kim said, there must have been some unauthorized wildlife trespassing!

Hi May!
What a great name for a cat? Is it short for King Tut?!
May says
Thanks! It is! 🙂
Karen says
He sounds absolutely regal. 🙂

Being his mom, I have to agree! 🙂 I’d send a picture, but I don’t think that’s possible in comments, or is it?
