Dear Diary,
Jiminy Cricket, Diary, I’m exhausted! I’m not kidding. The new hire has been putting in a ton of overtime, and it’s digging into my precious nap time. She’s always at the office. I mean, I like working the night shift, but she really likes working the night shift.
I’ve tried to tell her to clock out and go home, but we’re having communication issues. It’s like we’re speaking different languages.
Even when I can sneak away for a nap, I can’t sleep long because there’s just so much noise in the office.
I thought a new mattress would help, but it really hasn’t…
I’ve also tried warm milk.
And I read once that a good way to get sleepy for bed is to read something boring, so I tried that, but now all I want to do is upgrade my tabby command center. I’m thinking about adding a rooftop catnip garden…
At this point, I’ll do anything to catch a few more z’s. I don’t know how much longer I can take this. I’m a world-famous kitty supermodel. Seriously, I need my beauty rest.
I still have faith that things will eventually work out, and overall I’m happy with the new hire. She definitely works hard, and she’s a go-getter. I think she’s just trying to put in a lot of extra hours now to make a good first impression.
I can respect that.
Sleepily yours,
Tabs

I’m so happy that this new hire is someone you can respect, Tabs. Communication should improve as she gets more comfortable in her new position!

poor tabs, maybe you need to create a kitty-zen-den! soundproof the walls and lock the doors for an hour or six every day so you don’t get run tooo ragged! 🙂
you also must address that glorious box of Chanel goodies that you’re resting upon… are those the bright summer lippies to match the new formula vernis??
I wish I had a box of heaven like that, I’d probably sleep with it too!! 😉

Poor Tabs, it must be tough! Try to get some Zzz whenever she’s on a break. It might be just a few minutes at a time but it should still help!

It will get better, Tabs, once she is a little more settled. Until then enjoy her enthusiasm!

Hang in there, Tabs. If it’s any consolation, you still look well rested and fierce. 🙂 PS Love the choice of boring reading material.

Oh Tabs baby, you look so sleepy in the photo of you reading the woodworking book! I’m so sorry to hear you haven’t been getting enough sleep. Sometimes a cup of valerian tea helps me sleep at night but I’m not sure if you like tea.
Hang in there,
Jennifer

My employer ducks out for a snooze in the closet or in a bookcase, or under the bed where only he knows where he is when things get too energetic. This gives me some daytime hours to work on other things and he lets me know when my assistance is needed with dinner. It’s good you are learning to work with the new hire, difficult though it may be. I’m sure it will get easier in time. Enjoyed all your pictures!

Be strong Tabs! It will be much better soon… and you will love madly this new night person! 😉
