Dear fans, friends and felines,
It’s with a happy heart and a full tum that I say, “success!” I just finished hosting my very first Thanksgiving, and it went extremely well.
Due to scheduling conflicts later this month, my guests and I celebrated today. A couple of the major shareholders of Tabs the Cat Industries LLC attended, as well as my assistant Karen. Overall, it was an intimate gathering. Lots of food, friends and fabulousness.
Contrary to the predictions of many gossip blogs, there was no champagne throwing or b*tch-slapping. Just a cozy, comfy meal.
I prepared my guests’ favorite foods, including freshly harvested organic carrots for Floppy, my closest bunny confidant; a pumpkin pie made from scratch for my assistant Karen; and Purina Pro Plan wet food and crunchies for myself and Marmalade, the other feline in attendance.
I was the most gracious host and engaged my guests in a number of interesting topics. I chatted with Karen about makeup, and with Floppy and Marmalade about the current state of the business.
But it wasn’t all just work talk. We also discussed our families, our personal projects and what we’re most thankful for this year.
Floppy said that he was thankful for his new hutch, a deluxe abode surrounded by green grass and snapdragons high up in the Novato hills.
Marmalade gave thanks for our truce, because after years of professional rivalry, we are now close friends — so close, in fact, that he even allows me to eat off his plate.
My charming assistant Karen gave me a big hug and said, “I’m thankful for you, Tabs, and your weird kitty massages.”
I assumed she was referring to how I make biscuits in her hair every morning at 6:20, on the dot.
When it was my turn, I got a little emotional… Of course I’m thankful for good gravy and for having a roof over my head, but I could never have gotten here without my assistant. She caters to my every need and can look past the fame to love me for me.
Last, but not least, I’m thankful for my fans in the MBB family. I love you from the bottom of my gravy-filled tum.
Your feline friend always,
Tabs

Lol! So cute! My cat had a horrible day; my mom and I tried to clip her claws which she did not appreciate, then I vacuumed, which she also hates!
Karen says
Oh! Tabs is so not down with the nail clipping either. We’ve done it once or twice, but we stopped after he took a very ungraceful tumble off his cat tower due to poor claw-related traction, so now he remains fully fierce and sharply clawed.

Yet again, hilarious. And oh-so-cute! It makes me want to have a Thanksgiving for my dogs and kitty!

You should do it, Jenny! It’s kind of weird but fun. Keeps things interesting, ya know? 🙂

Very cute! Both of my dogs are jealous of Tabs & his kitty modeling — they want puppy fame, but can’t sit still long enough for pictures!
Karen says
Kitty (and canine) modeling is hard work, but like anything, practice makes purr-fect. 🙂
I try to catch Tabs when I can tell he’s sort of perplexed by something. Those are good times to snap pics, when his little kitty gears are turning…

Aww, what a gracious host! And my favorite part of the thanksgiving meal is the gravy too, just like Tabs.
Karen says
He’s such a food snob! Lately he’s developed the annoying habit of only wanting the gravy though and leaving the actual food. I tell him that this is not an actual restaurant, and he doesn’t get to do that, but it goes in one ear and out the other, le sigh…

Sounds like Tabs had a wonderful day! I love these little bits and pieces from his diary 😉
Karen says
He did! He loved the attention almost as much as the ample food, and I used it as a practice run for the actual holiday later this month. 😉
Kim says
Tabs, I am so proud of you. I know it’s sometimes hard for you to step out of your employer role and tell Karen how much she means to you. Congratulations on doing that this Thanksgiving – I’m sure it means a lot to her. 🙂
PS I love this post and the great pics. I picked out Marmalade immediately but I think Floppy has been more of a behind-the-scenes friend.
BB says
What do you mean by making biscuits in her hair? Kneading? With actual flour?
Eleanor says
Tabs and Karen, What a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner. I can only hope that my own will be as good. Loved your holiday decor. I haven’t decorated yet, and I think that I need to get with the program. 😀

Flopsy! Love! Quincy helped me when I brought home groceries yesterday, by putting the parsley away… into his belly!
