EHRMAHGAWD.
So, there’s an obnoxious amount of stuff in my Sephora.com cart at the moment (two words: VIB SALE!), and this week’s Lust List may or may not represent a tiny fraction of what’s actually in there.
Not that I intend to pull the trigger on everything. This is just how I work. I put everything and the kitchen sink into my cart, then slowly pare it down.
Alright! Here’s what’s making my heart beat like a hummingbird’s.
- Hourglass Illusion Hyaluronic Skin Tint ($56) — Been wanting to try this for ages! This moisturizing medium-to-full coverage foundation is supposed to plump and tighten while filling in deep wrinkles for a smoother, youthful-looking complexion. It also has SPF 15 and comes in a bunch of shades and different undertones.
- Laura Mercier Eye Basics in Wheat and Peach ($28 each) — Two more morsels I wanna try. They’re water-resistant, semi-matte shadow primers.
- Drunk Elephant T.L.C Sukari Babyfacial ($80) — Dude, I’m hoping this bottle can get my cheeks to look like Connor’s (baby cheeks are AMAZING). It’s a 25% AHA, 2% BHA mask (they call it an at-home facial that “effectively yet gently resurfaces skin and exfoliates the pore lining”), and I’ve heard nothing but great things about it.
- Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum ($90) — Again with the Drunk ? Elephant. I just started using the Day Serum, and now I want to try the Night Serum too (it has 12% AHA and BHA!).
- Marc Jacobs Beauty Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter ($44) — I dew love the idea of a gel highlighter with golden peachy shimmer.
- Christina Louboutin Lash Amplifying Lacquer ($70) — I mean, a $70 mascara is effing CRAZY, but my inner curious kitty can’t help but wonder if it’s epic. At this price, it better be lash crack!
- Sephora Collection Sprinkle Me With Kisses The Voyager ($20) — How cute is this?! Not that I need another makeup bag…but this one has lipsticks and ice cream with red kisses! Could you ask for anything more? I think not.
- Pinrose Lil’ Dipper and Sun Saint Fragrances ($65 each) — Another case of wanting a perfume (or two) because of the packaging and the name. These are SO PRETTY. Plus, I’ve always believed the Little Dipper deserves more love.
- Viseart Neutral Matte Eyeshadow Palette ($80) — I’ve talked about lusting after this palette before, but now that it finally goes on sale, WAH! It’s out of stock on the Sephora website… 🙁
I really hope they have it at the Novato store.
- Yves Saint Laurent Volupte Tint-in-Balm ($34) — So cute with the lip print in the tube! These sheer tinted balms are supposed to be mega moisturizing, but one thing’s for sure — I like the fancy packaging.
- Shiseido Eyelash Curler ($20) — My Shu Uemura curler has been on its last legs since 2016… Basically, I need a new curler, and this one gets amazing reviews from ladies with stick straight lashes like mine.
- RMS Beauty Eye Polish in Seduce ($16) — Leave it to me to be seduced by a satiny brown cream shadow named seduce.
You know I love me some brown cream shadow, LOL. 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I got the Shiseido Eyelash curler for $10 during the 21 Days of Beauty of Ulta in March. I bought two actually. I think I love it more than my Shu Uemura one. It holds the curl and does not pinch my short Asian lashes. The curve of the curler is perfect for the shape of my eyes- it gets every lash curled in one go. ☺️
Im eyeing all the Sunday Riley and Ren stuff for the VIB sale. Lactic acid has been my jam lately. Good stuff!
Happy taco Tuesday, Karen!

Hi HeraKitty,
Ahh, I’m so excited to try that lash curler! Glad you were able to grab two of them. It never hurts to have a backup.

The DE night serum is good stuff. It’s gentle – though it does sting a little on broken skin – and it’s not drying at all. Results are subtle and cumulative – you think it’s not doing anything then one day you notice your skin looks smoother and your pores less gunky. Definitely only for night, though, because it gives you a sheen and feels a little goopy/tacky. Like all DE products, use less than you think you need.
You might consider the Surratt eyelash curler as well. For me it pinches less and curls better than the Shiseido. Feels nice and substantial, and you can buy replacement pads direct from Surratt ($10 for 3).
Your skin is similar to mine – do you have a physical exfoliant mask or scrub that you like? I’m still looking for one that gets rid of flakes and loosens blackheads without causing irritation or peeling.
I just ordered the Bite lip pencil that you recommended – looking forward to getting it. I also ordered that Sunday Riley UFO oil – here’s hoping it doesn’t freak out my skin!

I second the Surratt – I keep my Shiseido at the office and Surratt at home. I love the matte black look, it’s so modern.
I wasn’t a huge fan of the DE C-Firma Day Serum – didn’t seem to do much. But I love the Sunday Riley Good Genes All-in-One. I liked the Sunday Riley UFO oil – it didn’t break out my skin, but haven’t pulled the trigger on a full size product.
Cory says
Yeah the Surratt is pretty sweet. I started with a Shu; when Sephora dropped her brand, I bought a Shiseido, which I loved. Then I got the Kevyn Aucoin one (pretty awesome), bought a new Shu from her site for %20 off, & finally got the Surratt Relevée It works great on straight lashes, only thing is that it’s heavier than the Shiseido. I pretty much mix them up & use different ones depending on what I’m going for. If you have the time to use more than one eyelash curler when getting ready, it’s so worth it (unless you’re wearing falsies, then it doesn’t matter).
LindaLibraLoca says
Wow, the packaging of the Louboutin mascara looks like it is going to be heavy! Drunk Elephant is on my to try list as well, and the combined aha and bha sounds like heaven for my ageing, acne prone skin. Need to finish some other stuff first though.
Good thing we don’t have Sephora and the sale here in Germany…
Karen says
Yes, it sure does look heavy. And opulent!
Dot says
The Drunk Elephant Framboos didn’t do much for my skin. 🙁 I can’t tell the difference when I do or don’t use it, and I’m almost done with my bottle. Hope it works better for you!
Karen says
Hi Dot,
Thanks for your feedback. What other serums have you tried and liked?
Happy Wednesday!
Dot says
I recently started incorporating Sunday Riley’s Good Genes and Luna Oil into my night regimen, and I’m loving it! I thought it was just gonna be all hype, but Good Genes really makes me glow; it’s also helped me keep my pores nice and clean (praise the Lord). It does smell kind of gross, but the scent disappears quickly! I’m a teensy bit worried I’m overexfoliating so I might cut back, but so far so good.
I’m thinking of picking up some of Timeless’ serums. Have you tried any of theirs?
PJ says
Hey Karen! If you are interested in trying that DE Sukari Babyfacial – the skincare brand The Ordinary makes a version of this that is considered a dupe (AHA 30% BHA 2%) and it’s only $9.
I’ve not tried the DE one since they don’t sell it in Canada, but everyone I’ve spoken with who has tried both, said they compare. I have tried the Ordinary version, and it’s pretty darn nice 🙂
Karen says
Thanks, PJ! I’ve heard about that line. It sounds lovely and so affordable.
Happy Wednesday!

Ooooh nice list! Thanks for inspiring me to add more things to my cart.
I’ve been hearing lots of great things about Drunk Elephant products but I’ve currently heavily invested in Sunday Riley so maybe when I start finishing those bottles I’ll try the DE.
I also need a few Marc Jacobs lip glosses–Sugar Sugar is at the top of my list. I tried it on at the store last weekend and it really made my lips look larger and poutier!
Karen says
Sunday Riley is bomb. I just finished one of her serums, but you know how it is… You get the itch to try something new!

I swear by the Shiseido lash curler. It has a different arc than the Shu version. The Shu Uemura one doesn’t really fit my eye shape, it’s too arched and too wide, it’s just too big for my lashes.
I love the Laura Mercier eye basics. It’s pigmented enough to cover tiny veins and the redness in my lids that I wake up with when I haven’t had a good night’s sleep.
$70 for mascara! Crazy! If you replace your mascara every 3 months like recommended (for sanitary purposes) that’s $280/year. Yikes! For that price it had better lengthen, thicken and curl my lashes and pay my income taxes, too! Lol. And it better not clump, flake or smudge.
Kim says
I’ve tried a couple of DE products (Sephora samples) and I thought they were fine. Not difference makers but they didn’t break me out, either. I can’t wait to hear what you think of that mascara. I’m crossing my fingers that it’s awful and I’m not tempted to shell out that kind of cash. Because, you know I would for the right mascara! 🙂
Erin says
Karen,
I’ve tried the DE serum and I prefer SR Good Genes. Even though it’s less total AHA and no BHA, it seems to do a better job.
I’ve sampled the Babyfacial, but everyone I know who has tried the Ordinary one recently, says the results are so similar it’s not worth the extra expense. I’m happy to try it, but I found the DE one was actually pretty gentle for something professional grade. The formula that makes up the peeling agents is pretty much identical. I will get the Ordinary one first, due to the price, as I just spent about $400 at the VIB sale.
I did go ahead and get the DE C-firma instead of one of the Ordinaries or Sunday Riley’s because it has some enzymes and ferments in it that will compliment other things I’m already doing with my western/european/korean hybrid routine. If I don’t see a huge difference by the end of C-firma, I’ll branch out.

I made a huge Ulta order with my 20% off Platinum coupon (quite a bit of hair stuff, the Nars Pure Radiant tinted moisturizer, an Urban Decay pencil eyeliner, a new Butter London liquid eyeliner, mascara, a blending sponge…) and a smaller Sephora order (one of the new Urban Decay Jean-Michel Basquiat eyeliners in a neon green, the GlamGlow setting spray) but I may still order something else. I was looking at the Stellar metallic lipsticks. I also picked up a new Clinique Pretty Easy Liquid Eyelining Pen last week because Ulta sent me a coupon for a free full-size Clinique All About Eyes eye cream with any Clinique purchase, and I needed to replace mine anyway.
I also have some Korean sheet masks coming and I got my new Korean vitamin C serum last week. My skin LOVES vitamin C for some reason. I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about Drunk Elephant skincare. Such a fun brand name too.
Time to stop spending money on beauty stuff for a while, LOL!

new to the DE bandwagon, but plan on purchasing the gel moisturizer for my vegan natural beauty teen, who loved the sample we got. It seems pricey compared the Shiseido Pureness one she is moving on from. But compared to gel moisturizers from other lines that I love(Estee Lauder Advanced Time Zone whY???) it is reasonable. As far as eyelash curlers, I am hooked on Tarte’s one. Easy to use, lasts a long time and Tweezerman replacement pads on the cheap at Sally’s beauty supply work with it. I hope you get the YSL lippie- gotta have at least one colorful indulgence, and the packaging is so bomb!
