Hey there, ladies. Happy Saturday! 🙂 It’s a crisp, windy day over here in Marin County, California. I’m bundling up to take a long, brisk walk outside with my giant mug ‘o tea.
I dunno what it is about these windy fall days, but they make me feel so alive — the sounds of rustling leaves, the wind whirling past my ears, and the cool kiss of the breeze on my skin.
I spent the better part of this morning just surfing the web and chillaxing, my standard operating procedure for Saturdays.
Here are the highlights of my day so far… 🙂

Oh yes! Them Crooked Vultures are in that 99 songs list twice! I love them! 🙂
Karen says
I am really enjoying that music site. Will listen to TCV next. 🙂
Hope you’re having a lovely weekend!
Kypris says
The picture in your post makes me *sooo* envious. It’s pouring rain here, and gloomy, and damp and cold. Not really crisp air! I think lack of sun makes me slightly depressed sometimes…
Karen says
I wish I was there too, LOL!
I took that on the North Shore of Hawaii on my wedding day.
How’s your weekend going so far?
DonnaN says
Not a thing……surfed around on eBay and listed some stuff for sale. My doggie is having a bad day, so I’ve been keeping an eye on her. Tomorrow I have to put in 6hours ate work in preparation for Cyber-Monday.
More overtime = Xmas presents!!
Karen says
Yes girl!!! Gotta love that extra spending moolah. 🙂
How is your pup doing? Is she okay?
Jen says
I love that song you posted! Sick video too. You have good taste!
I wished and wished and it came true: I got the day off from work today, at last minute. So, I’m just lounging around at home. However, every time I come to your site, I always want to go play with makeup after… haha. Anyway, I’m gonna help my mom bake later. We found an awesome maple syrup granola recipe, so we’re gonna give those out during Christmas. She also wants to make mochi… lol.
Have a good rest of the weekend!
Karen says
How did the maple syrup granola turn out? It sounds really yummy. I love to bake… I would do it more if I weren’t so tempted to gobble up everything I made, ha ha!
Jen says
It’s delish. The first time I made it, I ate it all without giving any away. Oops… It’s really good with plain yogurt. And it’s healthy too! Bonus points!
I love baking too. And trying what you made is the best part! I know from taste testing that I make awesome chocolate chip cookies, and a killer cheesecake 😉
Karen says
Nom, nom! You’re making me hungry!
So, I know this recipe isn’t technically “baked,” but I think I want to try it anyway:
Raw Pecan Love Pie
I’m on a health food kick and like the idea of a somewhat healthy pecan pie!
Jen says
Ooh, yum! If you do try it, let me know how it comes out!
Karen says
Of course … and I’ll take pictures too!
How do you feel about cobbler? I have a blueberry/peach cobbler recipe that I feel is my duty to share with the universe! Here it is, just in case you’re interested. 🙂
THE BLUEBERRY-PEACH COBBLER CRACK RECIPE!
1 pint fresh or frozen blueberries
1 can of drained, canned peaches (or sliced fresh, ones, if you’d like)
1 14 oz can condensed milk
2 teaspoons grated lemon peel
3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons cold butter or margarine
2 cups biscuit baking mix, divided
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional – I usually leave these out)
1. Preheat oven to 325. In bowl, combine blueberries, condensed milk, and peel. I usually add drained, canned peaches during this step (but you can leave ‘em out if you want a blueberry only cobbler — totally up to you). I don’t add the entire can though, because I like an even blueberry to peach ratio. How much you add is up to your own peach preference!
2. In large bowl, cut 3/4 cup butter into 1 1/2 cups biscuit mix until crumbly; add blueberry/peach mixture. Spread in greased 9-inch square baking pan.
3. In small bowl, combine remaining 1/2 cup biscuit mix and sugar; cut in remaining 2 tablespoons butter until crumbly. Add nuts. Sprinkle over cobbler.
4. Bake 1 hour and 10 minutes or until golden. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
Get ready to watch everybody’s eyes roll back!
Jen says
Oh wow, that sounds like death by… food-gasm? Haha! I will definitely try this!
Karen says
I have to toot my horn on this one because it’s REALLY GOOD. Just thinking about it makes me all drool-y.
Jen says
Can’t wait to try this. And, to reciprocate (if you’re interested)
Maple Raisin Granola
Nonstick cooking spray
3 cups old fashioned rolled oats
1/4 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
pinch of salt
1/2 cup pure maple syrup
1/3 cup canola oil
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup raisins
Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Lightly coat baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.
In large bowl, combine oats, flour, cinnamon and salt. In separate bowl, whisk together syrup, oil and vanilla extract. Add to oat mixture, stirring well to coat. Spread mixture across baking sheet. Bake 30 minutes. Remove tray from oven. Sprinkle granola with raisins. Using large spoon or spatula, mix raisins and granola well, breaking up any lumps. Return to oven and continue baking an additional 20 minutes. Allow granola to cool completely. Store i airtight container in refrigerator.
Makes 10 servings.
Enjoy!
Karen says
Yay, Jen!
I can’t wait to try this… and then gobble it all up, LOL!
