Heya, chicas. Can you believe it’s already mid-September? Before you know it, it’ll be Thanksgiving, then Christmas… Where does the time go?
I’m already feeling a little nostalgic for summer, so I put together this list of posts from July. These were some of my favorites of the month.
- Gaga for Gold with Chanel Fall 2008
- Makeup Tutorial: A Peach, Brown and Green Eye for Summer
- Mally City Chick Smokey Eye Kit in Nolita Navy: Makes Blue Eyes Easy
- The $29 Drugstore Beauty Roundup
- Loving on MAC Love Connection Mineralize Eye Shadow Duo
- Autumn in the City: Sally Hansen Fall Nail Lacquer Colors by Tracy Reese
- A Green and Grey Eye with MAC Fresh Green Mix Mineralize Eye Shadow Duo
- Save Big Bucks on Stila and Smashbox at Costco
- How to Attend a Free Chanel Master Makeup Class
- Tuesday Beauty Tips: Be Good to Yourself
Not much on my agenda for today beyond some cleaning and maybe a trip to the mall. El Hub asked that I help him pick out some new clothes for work. In boy parlance that means his last few pairs of pants have holes in them, lol!
Have a good one today. Tabs says hi.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Hey, animal lovers. Stop by the cosmetics department at the downtown San Francisco Bloomingdale’s this Thursday, September 18, for a Day of Beauty for Pets. The event will benefit Pets Unlimited, a local non-profit providing emergency medical treatment and adoption services for pets.
I volunteered with them as a dog walker a couple years ago and had a lot of fun. They’re a fantastic organization.
On the 18th, Bloomies will donate 10% of all cosmetics purchases to Pets Unlimited. You can even bring along your pet to help you shop. Fido can get his picture taken or his portrait drawn while Fluffy gets her pet tag engraved. Keep an eye out for the workshop on holistic animal care.
If you live out of the area but would still like to support the cause, call Bloomingdale’s at (415) 856-5540 to place an order by phone. They even ship internationally (as long as your items aren’t flammable, lol!). For more information, visit Bloomingdale’s.com.

Hiya Karen!
I love these posts. Although I NEVER miss your posts it is nice to go back and read some of them over.
Yesterday was the MAC studio FiX seminar. It lasted almost 3 hours!!! It was the BEST!!! We learned how to go from day to night… and A LOT of money later I was sitting at home with the hubby. I cant wait to try my new acquired knowledge (and products) on willing participants.
I must end this with… “Hi, my name is Jen, and I am a MacAholic!!!”
Have a BEAUTIFUL weekend!
Karen says
Hi Jen,
I am so glad that you enjoyed your time at the MAC Seminar. In addition to products (wheeee!), you also come home with a ton of knowledge. 🙂 What did you end up getting? Share, share!!!
Jen says
My MAC haul consisted of… (In no specific order as I am pulling stuff out of a shiny mac bag)…
1. Eyeshadow in Carbon (matte)
2. Select Cover-up concealer in NW20
3. Lip Pencil in Spice
4. Eye Kohl (Pencil) in Smolder
5. Paint pot in Soft Ochre
6. Lip Glass in Viva Glam V
7. Lip Glass in Viva Glam (special edition) VI
8. Eyeshadow in Texture
9. Mineralize Skinfinish Natural powder in Medium Deep
10. Eyeshadow in Amber Lights
11. Eyeshadow in Humid
12. Mac 217 Brush
13. Mac Fluid line Eye liner gel in Blacktrack
14. Eyeshadow in Sketch
15. Mac Strobe Liquid Lotion
In my defense…
My birthday is coming up… and I had already bought a Macy’s gift card (in order to secure my place in the seminar)… The hubby met me at the mall after the class ended and said “spoil yourself… but only this once”
I have a problem though… I’m in LOVE.
ps. One of the girls in the seminar spent 800 dollars at ONCE!!! I almost fainted!!!
Karen says
Hi Jen,
That’s a FANTASTIC haul. You’ll be able to get so much use out of those colors — you’ve got a lot of basics (Blacktrack, HOLLA) that are super flexible.
Happy early birthday, YAY!

Hi Karen-
Happy Saturday! Like Jen said, even since I discovered your blog I have not missed a single post but it is great to go back and look and perhaps remind me of an item(s) that I wanted to check out.

Fortunately, it still feels a lot like summer here. Today I went to Aveda Institute to get a haircut and it was scorching hot! Way to go Jen, you got lots of nice stuff here. I’m definitely sure you will enjoy them for years to come.
Tabs, how are you doing? Are you going to make an appearance tomorrow? The ASPCA sent me a membership card, they must know I’ve been talking to Tabs 😀

Hi Marisol,
Happy Saturday to you, too! What are you up to today? I just got back from a run (Blackie’s Pasture… do you ever go?).
Karen says
Hi Dao,
How does your hair look? Did you go for a trim, or a big change?
Tabs says, “Purrrr…” 😉

Weekend will be laid back. I got the Gossip Girl’s DVDs from Netflix so I am going to be watching those to see what the hype is all about. Laundry and grocery shopping will be the highlight of tomorrow. Work has been a bit stressful because of so many changes going on that I need a chill weekend.
I am looking forward to the Coco Chanel movie tonight. Will you be watching?

Hi Marisol,
I hear you about work being stressful. During the weekends all I want to do is chill…
I am SOOO Tivo-ing that shizz tonight!!!!
Jen says
Hey Ladies,
Just wanted to say thanks to all of you for being happy for me. I may need some advice and more tutorials in order to create some cool looks! 🙂

Hi Karen,
It’s a bit of a trim and a bit of a change. The girl redid my bang the way I like it. However, she did not blow dry my hair well so I’m going to put a pix up as soon as I get a chance to blow dry my hair the way I want.
What is Tabs up to today?
