Shampoos, conditioners, body washes, body lotions (yup, I keep mine in the shower), shave creams, etc. Go check, and count ’em all up. Or, take a quick mental inventory.
I did a major culling a few weeks ago during a feng shui shower frenzy and removed a few shampoos and body washes, but there’s still a lot in there.
At last count (just now), there are 18 bottles!
What can I say? I’m a girl who likes options. 🙂
I think it’s related to my childhood (isn’t it always?). My mom wasn’t big into bath and beauty products, so we always only had two bottles in our shower — just one shampoo and one conditioner. That was it.
Then when I left home for college, I lived with a roommate who had six different bottles of shampoo and conditioner in the shower, and it BLEW MY MIND.
It never occurred to me that you could, you know, legitimately own and use a variety of shampoos and conditioners. There is not a law that requires the use of just one.
And then body washes came into vogue, and all heck broke loose. It was a new world with endless possibilities, LOL!
So these are the bottles in my shower right now…
- 3 bottles of shampoo
- 5 bottles of conditioner
- 7 (!) body washes
- 1 body scrub
- 2 face washes
How about you? What’s in yours?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Funny thing is that none of the bottles are El Hub’s. 🙂 He doesn’t care what he uses. I think he just grabs anything when he’s in there. Sometimes I wonder if it’s even a soap, haha.
Erin says
Right now I’m in the middle of deep cleaning my shower. So there is nothing in it. Usually, 4 bottles of hair care, 2 face washes, 2 body washes.
Rachel says
I probably have 15-20. A combination of shampoo/conditioner/body wash/face wash. I made the mistake of buying a liter size shampoo and conditioner and it never gets used up, especially when you don’t wash your hair everyday!
Kiss & Make-up says
3 bottles of shampoo (Kiehl’s, Pantene & Wella), 1 conditioner (Wella), 2 masks (Kerastase & Klorane), 1 bottle of body wash (Argan) and 1 scrub (Caudalie). So that adds up to 8!
Divya says
Okay!
2 – shampoos
2 – body scrubs
2 – shower gels
4 – conditioners
2 – hair masques
4 – face cleansers (including balm, oil, normal)
2 – face masks
Madness
Agata says
I swear- great minds think a like- I was thinking of doing a post about “the shower” because I was cleaning mine yesterday and I threw out a bunch of stuff I haven’t used it a while. There is still way too many!
Let’s see:
2 shampoos
3 conditioners
hair mask
body wash
in-shower body lotion
shaving cream
Plus my husband’s stuff- 2 shampoos (crazy, huh- what man needs two different shampoos?) and one body wash- he is very particular about that!
7 body washes? That’s a little over the top, lol. Anything good to recommend?
Gracey says
I tend to keep just shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and face wash in the shower. If I want to use a different one. Get’s a bit too crowded!

Funny that you ask because I just took out some body washes I never use a couple of days ago.
I have 15 bottles total in the shower right now. Most are body washes, there are also 3 conditionners, a shampoo, 2 face cleansers.
The 2 body washes I got rid of had been in the shower for over 2 years and were still mostly full – I didn’t really enjoy the scent of one, and the other was hard to squeeze out of the bottle, like the gel was too thick.
Remi says
My things – 1 shampoo. 1 conditioner. 2 moisturizers and a body scrub (all of which are in tins.. but I figured they probably count.)
SO’s things – 2 shampoos. 1 conditioner. 3 face washes. 1 body wash.
Total containers – 12.
Jan M says
I have eleven. Yikes! LOL
Face Wash-2

Divina says

Angela says
Hahaha El Hub doesn’t keep a single bottle in the shower?! I have one bottle of shampoo, one bottle of conditioner, a mini sample of ExfoliKate, a Neutrogena face wash, a Suave body wash, a l’Occitane verbena body soap… and I think that’s it haha.
Emilie says
This is scary because I have been noticing the creep of items in my shower and I wanted to bury my head in the sand!
1 mega conditioner bottle
1 shampoo
1 body scrub
4 full sized body washes
2 mini body washes
2 face washes
1 face scrub
1 shave gel
13 items! Yeesh, I just can’t win. Guess I will have to keep on smelling good and looking gorgeous because I can. That’ll be my mantra instead!
Karen says
Fun question!
– 3 shampoos
– 2 condish
– 1 body scrub
– 3 body washes
– 1 face scrub
Estefania says
I have….
2 shampoos
1 conditioner
1 face wash
that’s it, actually haha
BrooklynShoeBabe says
1 bottle of body wash
1 bottle of shave gel
1 bottle facial wash (Mr. Husband’s)
1 bar of body soap (the children’s)
MonicaP says
Tee hee .. and I thought I was bad .. lol
Nine:
2 shower gels
1 shampoo
1 conditioner
5 face products (oil cleanser, reg cleanser, scrub and 2 acne products)
Cheez .. I guess I like my skin care stuff.
Monica.
Chris25 says
I think maybe 6 or 7. I’m testing out 2 different kinds of shampoo right now, so I have 2 bottles each of shampoo and conditioner I’m trying to finish.
LindaLibraLoca says
I am pretty good:
1 Shampoo
1 Conditioner
2 Body Washes
1 In-Shower Moisturizer
And a whole lot of stuff (about four masks, one oil, a cleansing spray, three other conditioners, one other shampoo) at a shelf right within reach.
Is this cheating?
Katherine M says
I used to have a ton of bath products (I would get excited and buy new shampoos and conditioners, and not always finish up the old stuff…), but now I stick with what works (since I also used to spend a good bit of money weekly at CVS buying said shampoos and conditioners when I was in college). I didn’t keep them all in the shower at once, though – I used to rotate them in and out when I wanted them. Now I have:
2 conditioners – a large bottle of Herbal Essences, the traditional smooth one with the rose smell; and a John Frieda color lasting deep conditioner.
1 hair mask (kept in my bathroom cabinet) – Fekkai Color Technician – I break that one out when my hair is a little dry-feeling and I feel like my color needs a boost but I don’t want to take the time to do my roots.
1 body wash – currently using Country Chic by Bath and Body Works (so sad that they discontinued that scent)
1 shampoo – a Garnier clarifying one that is mostly natural ingredients.
I will use an Irish Spring body scrub from time to time to get rid of dead skin, but otherwise I don’t really buy bath products unless I need them.
Barbara B says
Katherine,
Country Chic is available for a limited time online!
In my shower I have:
Dandruff shampoo for my husband
Bar soap for husband
Shampoo for daughter
Facial cleanser daughter and I share
Trial size bottle of shampoo and conditioner for myself which I refill as needed cause I wash my hair every other day and hate the clutter
Lady parts cleanser transferred to an unmarked plastic bottle
My daughter and I rotate our shower gels and use different ones every day so we just take them into and out of the shower – don’t look in our bathroom cabinets lol!
Katherine M says
Thanks so much for telling me! Hubby gave me a ton of Country Chic body lotion for Christmas, so I was happy that he stocked up. Another fave scent of mine is Victoria’s Secret Very Sexy, which I hope does not get retired like their jeans have…
tirurit says
Oh well, and here I thought I was without remedy… there are worst cases than me!
I have two shampoos, two conditioners, a hair mask (gorgeous wella hair mask), two body washes, a body scrub which I adooooore (Laughing buda by Rituals) and a face scrub (we are not counting the samples, right?!)
kim says
I am OCD about keeping my shower and skin care products to a minimum. I try not to buy anything until my current bottle is done. I always have 2 shampoos (one is my hubbie’s), 1 conditioner, 1 body wash, 1 face scrub and a shaving lotion. So 6 is my maximum. My mom always had a million half used bottles of everything, and it always looked cluttered to me and drove me crazy! My makeup is a different story though. for some reason, on my vanity, is the more the merrier!
Vanessa says
5
1 body wash
2 shampoos (his & hers)
2 conditioners (mine)
Add some flowers and candles. It feels like paradise 🙂
Elizabeth says
This morning, there were 11. Now there are 15. Damn that Sephora VIB sale!
Erika says
Seven, I think 🙂 Where do you keep them all?
I have an old shower from the 50’s, and there’s a towel bar in the shower (weird to me) where I line them all up.
Tori says
I think I might have a problem…
Shampoo – 5
Conditioner – 4
Shower Gel – 3
Body Scrubs – 3
Face Cleansers & Scrubs – 4
Shaving Cream – 2 (And I’ve had Laser Hair Reduction so I only shave like once a month!)
Grand Total of 21! Is there a support group out there for people like me??
andrea says
lol. your childhood sounds just like mine! I was never allowed to buy a bunch of fancy stuff. and I had 4 brothers, so there was nothing girly or fancy our shower!
so now…I kinda go crazy with it!
•2 bottles of shampoo
•2 bottles of conditioner
•4 body washes
•1 body scrub
•3 face washes
and I’m sure I am missing some in my head count 😉
Becca says
Finally! Someone thinking what i was – just last night too. My husband died recently and it had been a long time since we had seperate bathrooms. I never wanted him to know my obsession with products so I always kept ONLY shampoo, conditioner & body/face wash. Since he’s been gone, I haven’t held back. 5 shampoos, 4 conditioners, 2 face wash, & 3 body wash. He is probably shaking his head. But at least he knows how happy it makes me.
Karen says
Hi Becca,
Sorry to hear about your husband’s passing. I’m very sorry for your loss. Sending you a big hug…
Michelle says
3 shampoos (one almost empty, one next in line and one for the husband)
1 John Frieda 7 day volume
2 face soaps (one for each of us)
2 body washes (1 full size, one sample size)
BTW, love your makeup and hair; how about a post on what you were using here?
Rhia says
4 bottles of shampoo
1 bottle of body wash
1 of face wash
1 body scrub
My mind started to immediately calculate these items as I was reading your post. I guessed around 10 items. Close enough!
Leticia (Thee Limited Edition) says
18 is crazy to me but I think I have at least 10…ooopppsss! LOL! Also, the BF is the same, he uses anything!
Caz says
Typing this singing C&C Music Factory “Things that make you go hmm” (coming home late smelling of perfume…) It’s Friday woohoo!!
I can’t STAND a cluttered shower. 6 items. That’s it.
Jenny says
I just cleaned out my shower and threw away at least 10+ bottles… but I still have 14 bottles in the shower. Hey, I like options. Haha!
Rachel R. says
My stuff: 1 face wash; 1 shampoo; 1 conditioner; 2 body washes; 1 scrub.
Hubby: 1 shampoo, 1 soap.
Sons: 2 shampoos, 1 shampoo bar, 1 soap, 3 or 4 body washes.
We have a couple of shower shelf units for it all. Someday, I’ll the money to expand and remodel my tiny ensuite bathroom to include a shower. Till then, our one shower is crowded.
Emily says
I’ve been pretty good!
4 body washes (Dove and Body Shop)
1 body scrub (Body Shop)
1 bar of soap (L’Occitane)
2 face cleansers (Dermalogica)
1 face scrub (Origins)
1 shaving cream (Dermalogica)
2 body oils (L’Occitane)
1 shampoo (Dove)
1 conditioner (Dove)
– 14 thats a lot more than I thought actually!
Iris says
I currently have four: a deep cleansing shampoo. a custom blend one from Escents, an EOS vanilla shave cream, and Natura Siberica conditioner. I usually have five but I’m using a bar soap and not my usual shower gel.
Holly says
I have two facial exfoliators, four shampoos, one tube of shave gel, and two types of body wash. My problem is that when I get low on one product, I’ll buy a replacement and use the new product before I use up the old product so the tubes and bottles multiply! When I do get around to culling, I throw out three or four at time and then the shower looks terribly empty which means I need to buy more…it’s a vicious cycle!
Mary says
I recently did some spring cleaning in my shower and I’m down to two bottles of conditioner, one shampoo, and one body wash. Not sure how long this arrangement will last since I’m hitting up Ulta this weekend for a body scrub. Cheers!
Mary says
Oh I forgot I have one bottle of shaving cream too!
Petra says
Ok
Schampo: 3 (one is hubs)
Conditioner: 2 (one is hubs)
Hairmask: 2
Body wash: 4 (one is hubs)
Bodyscrub: 2
Face wash: 1
In-shower body lotion: 2
Total: 16. I need to de-clutter a bit
Jen C says
Ok.. I thought my bathroom is pretty crazy until I saw the posts here! Yippee! Below is my inventory (mine alone, El Hub’s and my bb daughter’s excluded)
2 – shampoos
2 – conditioners
1 – hair masque
2 – face washes
1 – body wash
1 – eye cream
1 – face serum
I must say that this relatively short list came about after housekeeping some time ago – basically I binned ALL products I hadn’t used in >2 weeks. And implemented a rule that I would not BUY or OPEN any new product unless an existing product gets used up.
Astrild says
I just finished a body wash yesterday, so right now, I have
4 body washes
4 bottles of shampoo
2 conditioners
2 hair mask (one of them has only one use left but i don’t like it and it has been there forever)
2 face washes
1 shaving cream
1 reusable bubble bath from Lush
16 bottles, jars or similar. OMG!!! It’s crazy.
Twyla Munden says
Around the tub I only have:
2 Shampoos
1 conditioner
1 2N1 (for company)
But i have not 1 but 2 of the 3 basket hanging gadgets that hang from the inside of the shower curtain (not around the shower head).
It holds:
2 shampoos
1 conditioner
1 deep conditioner treatment
5 body washes
2 body scrubs
1 shave lotion
2 facial scrubs
2 bubble baths
and various pumices
I also have 3 Body wash puffs hanging from shower curtain hooks (easy dry) & 1 long handled brush….
wow… its like its own room in there
Kim says
Oh, that is too funny. I’d like to say that we have a lot of bottles because there are 4 of us, but the reality is that they’re nearly all mine. 🙂
2 Shampoos
3 Conditioners
2 Face Washes
2 Body Washes
Adriana says
Shampoo – 2
Conditioner – 1
Shower gel – 2
Bar soap – 1
Face wash – 1
A total of 7 items. But I have more stashed away in a cupboard! Can’t resist picking up items for the shower each time I travel to remind me where I’ve been
Lena says

– 1 hair mask (2 more outside bathroom, ha)
– 3 scrubs
– 7 body washes

Megan says
I thought I didn’t have that many, then I counted… 13 (however this does include my boyfriend’s bottles too). Thankfully most of the doubles/triples are either toning shampoos or almost running out and I’ve put the backup in the shower early. I did just finish up 1 body scrub today!
3 shampoos (plus 1 for the bf)
1 hair mask (1 conditioner belonging to the bf)
1 face wash
1 face scrub
3 body washes (plus 1 for the bf)
1 shave cream
EM says
In the shower? Two. 1 bottle of co-wash and 1 bottle of shower/body cleansing gel.
I hate clutter.
Gillian says
I currently have 1 shampoo & 1 conditioner, 2 shower gels/creams, 5 body scrubs. So 9, but if I were counting cleansers and face masks that would be a much higher number!!
Anastassia says
2 bottles of shampoo, 2 conditioners, 1 shower gel, 1 body scrub,1 face wash, 1 face scrub, 2 face masks,2 face and body oils.
Alicia says
My list! 🙂
3 shampoos
2 conditioners
1 body wash / exfoliator
1 shave cream (but I use conditioner to shave since I hate shave cream – not sure why I bought this! )
1 face wash
Susan says
I like having options, too! In theory it is a little unnecessary, but oh well. I have 1 cleansing conditioner, 2 shampoos, 3-5 conditioners/deep conditioners and 3 body washes. I also have a face scrub, 2 face washes, a body scrub, and a hand soap. Overkill, but most of it is used regularly.
