Are There Any Products You Wish You Could Find Dupes for But So Far Haven’t Been Able To Find?

Published in: Becca, Just For Fun

I love Becca Cabrera

That’s Becca Cabrera along my lower lash lines… LOVE IT!

Just one (that I can think of right now) — Becca’s Cabrera Liner.

MAN! It was a limited edition dual-tipped liner from 2012’s Balearic Love collection. It has a gorgeous dark chocolate bronzy violet on one end and a warm reddish bronzy brown on the other. I’ve looked and looked and just haven’t been able to find anything quite like it.

PLEASE, if you know of a dupe for it, I beg you, let me know.

I have three backups (yes, I like it that much) — well, four if you count the one lurking somewhere lost in my hella messy office — but the day I finish that last one will be a dark day filled with many glittery tears…

I’ve tried to concoct something similar mixing different liners and have gotten pretty close, but it would be so much easier to just find a dupe (or encourage Becca to rerelease it, hint-hint).

If you happen to know of a dupe for Cabrera or anything else mentioned in the comments, chime in. Help a fellow huntress out. πŸ™‚

How about you? Are there any products you wish beyond reason you could find dupes for but haven’t been able to yet? You never know. Perhaps a dupe exists…

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

P.S. Happy hump day.

I’ve had to quit trying to find dupes. The original is always better! At the same time that means I’ve had to quit buying limited edition shades because my heart is always broken when it runs out. I so badly wanted NARS Mysterious Red, but convinced myself to not partake. I did manage to find a 99% dupe though (NARS Red Lizard) so someday I’ll have the color πŸ™‚ Both shades of the Becca eyeliner are perfection…I hope you find your dupe!

There was this milky pink lipgloss from origin I bought ten years ago and I still remember it. They discontinued the formula and I was so disappointed. I’m still thinking about it after all those years!

  5. Bobbi Brown Glitter Gloss in Nude. Discontinued *cries* I have purchased about 15 lip glosses and none of them are the same.

  6. Danielle says:

MAC Gem of Roses is my all-time favorite lipstick and it was limited edition. It seems like an easy shade to find a dupe for, but actually, I have not been able to. If MAC ever repromotes this color I am buying about 4 of them.

Finally, a place to vent about something that’s been irritating me for months now! L’Oreal Fairest Nude is my HG nude lipstick color-wise: I’m pale and cool-toned and I love the hint of cool mauve in Fairest Nude. Unfortunately, I hate L’Oreal’s lipstick formula. The scent makes me feel ill and the lipstick itself is drying. I’ve searched for a similar shade in the drugstore, at Sephora, everywhere, but I can’t find that perfect cool-leaning nude. Any help would be greatly appreciated…

    • Sarah says:

Hey! I totally know what you mean by L’Oreal’s smell, ick! πŸ™ but i heard that Mac Viva Glam II is a close dupe. Its more expensive than L’Oreal but the proceeds from the MAC VG lipstick line go to charity so you don’t feel bad for buying yet another new lipstick lol. Hope this helps! πŸ™‚

  8. FreshEyre says:

Yes, unfortunately – Clinique’s Glosswear For Lips in La La Lilac – it just disappeared from my universe, never to be seen again. So, so sad – it was the PERFECT color for me, a shimmery pink/light lilac that I felt terrific in. I’ve purchased (seriously) at least 50 lip glosses trying to duplicate the magic that was this shade but it’s just not meant to be. I have about 1/5th of the tube left and I’m saving it for when I really want to make a good day great – if I ever get married again I swear this is what I’m going to wear… πŸ™‚

  9. Bella says:

Wow, I can see why you’re hooked on that eyeliner! They discontinued a Chanel foundation I loved. It was before my beauty-addict days, so i didn’t even know what it was called, only that my shade was no 50 Hale. I used to go to the counter, point at the bottle and say “I need that one.” Until one day I went and it was gone.
I am very happy with Nars foundations now, however…LOL.

  10. Tiffanie says:

Guerlain Galia was my perfect lip color. I found a pretty close match in the new Giorgio Armani line, but it’s just not the same. There’s something for me about pulling out that Guerlain packaging. I’m hoping they have a big release next year after having discontinued so much of the Rouge G line this year.

  11. Sujaan says:

My HG lippie, Estee Lauder in dulce de leche. Wore it for years and even after it was discontinued I hunted down a few more. All gone now… πŸ™

  12. Anon says:

I have two favorites for which I am ISO dupes (high or low; at this point, I don’t care).

Benefit used to make a concealor called Galactic Shield w 2% salacylic acid. It came in 3 shades and #2 was a perfect match for my Irish-and-Sicilian color. For a while it was on eBay for a king’s ransom, but eventually I was down to my last one an someone BROKE INTO MY CAR AND STOLE THE BAG in which my lassssst twisty tube was hiding. I told the Philadelphia police that I was more concerned about that than my AmEx and it was true. Sob. Help?

Second is Laura Mericer Stone Slate LE eyeliner. I have a couple, but it’s LE holiday 2012. Karen, can you pull strings and get them to add it to perma line? It’s soooooo good with hazel eyes! If not, know a dupe? Neiman or Kmart, I don’t care. I need that color.

  13. Marie says:

I found a website where that Becca eyeliner is sold.

  14. Rachel P. says:

I’m super bummed that Gash by Urban Decay is gone… I adored the gloss (although I don’t buy much UD gloss anymore because the squeezy tubes aren’t my fave). I still have a tube of the lipstick with the cool sword-hilt packaging. Gash just works so well on me, and I love the smell, texture, finish, color… just everything! I could wear it year-round, and it’s such a special violety-wine-red that never accentuated my acne (something I always have to consider when buying a new red). And now they’re not making it anymore! By the time it was gone, I was just starting to get into the beauty community for serious, so I would have never thought to stock up on it. I’m sure there are dupes out there, but I have yet to find them!

  15. Denise S. says:

I’ve been on the hunt for a good substitute for the Body Shops Vanilla lotion. So sorry they discontinued it. I love wearing it under some of my favorite vanilla perfumes. Unfortunately most companies mix in other scents with vanilla lotions I’m looking for a pure vanilla lotion.A few people on Ebay are selling it for way too much money, so I’m looking for a good dupe.

  16. Kellyn says:

Wow! That liner duo is really gorgeous! I’d love to find a dupe for those colors too πŸ™‚

That’s a really pretty eyeliner duo!
For the violet color, you could try Revlon Colorstay eyeliner in Blackberry. It’s a brownish plum w/ very subtle shimmer. It’s my favorite eyeliner!

  19. natalie says:

Those eyeliners look gorgeous!! I would love a dupe for the Dior Amber Diamond that costs less, really that highlighter is so expensive.

  20. Daanielle says:

My gosh, where to start…? LORAC Boudoir eyeshadow is the perfect taupe for my cool-toned super pale skin, but of course it was LE. MAC Satin Taupe is close, but it leans a teeny bit browner on me and doesn’t blend as easily into my natural skin. I also have a Korres blush (the name escapes me) that I can’t find locally, so I have to hunt it down online. There are a bunch of others that have gone over the years, but those are the toughest to replace right now.

  21. Darinka says:

I wish I could find dupes for a couple of Bobbi Brown lipstick shades (raisins and roseberry.) The colors are gorgeous and so natural, but I dislike the formula. The have so little staying power and seem to slide off after application. God forbid you should drink something while wearing it. Your glass or cup becomes a smeary mess way beyond the norm.

  22. Greta says:

I desperately want a dupe for Benefits Rockateur, but I haven’t heard of any.

  23. Brianna says:

MAC Viva Glam Cyndi! I’ve been desperately trying to find a dupe for ages. I’ve mixed some lip tars together to get pretty close.

  24. AmandaE says:

Estee Lauder released a lipstick called Rose Sapphire in a holiday collection in the early-2000’s. I wish I had realized then that would be my HG shade that no other lipstick would ever suit me as well. I used up my tube, stole my mothers and saved it for special occasions, but it’s been long gone. Years of searching and still no exact dupe.

  25. Lauren says:

Too Faced’s Push Up! I don’t want to have to buy the whole palette for that one eye shadow πŸ™

I really miss L’Oreal Endless lipstick. Not any particular shade (although since I used the last of the Sparking Sandstone tube there’s been a hole in my lipstick wardrobe), but the overall formulation. Went on easily, lasted a pretty respectable length of time, had nice colors and almost no odor… *sigh*

I would recommend swatching Chanel Le Crayon Kohl in Ambre. Brown with a lot of red in it. Stunning and nothing I know like it!

  29. Tania G says:

I would love to find those eyeliner shades myself. they are my favorite kind to wear on a daily basis. So gorgeous.
I am trying to find a dupe for Bobbi brown twilight lipstick as well as Chanel’s pink sugar lipstick. I hate it when brands discontinue popular items.

  30. Jen says:

I really like Rimmel’s lipstick in Spotlight Beige. It’s this perfect nude slightly pinky coral that really brightens up my face for a neutral. And it was inexpensive! MAC’s Shy Girl is a similar hue but slightly lighter and less dense of a formula, so not a good dupe. Still looking….

  31. Lorraine says:–Define-Pencil—Cabrera.html

I’d love a dupe for Bobbi Brown Roza nail polish or Rimmel lipstick in French Kiss.

  32. CynthiaCC says:

Benefit’s old lipstick formula from about 10 years ago, the shade was “Um, um, uh…” (yes, that’s really the name). I went through three tubes of it, then it was discontinued. No dupes, I’ve looked. I used to be so sad over Stila’s Creme Bouquet perfume, but then they brought it back!

  33. Alison says:

I’ve been looking for a lipstick version of Le Metier de Beaute’s in the Know Bordeaux Lip Creme – its my perfect red, but unfortunately, gloss really isn’t my preference. Its the perfect balance for me: perfect, slightly cool, berry-red wine-based gorgeousness!

  34. Nan says:

MAC Sheer Plum lipstick. I’ve been wearing it for 19 years and it is the perfect color on me. I just went to order more and it has been discontinued! Cry!

  35. Esther says:

Sonia Kashuk at target has a similar bronze liner. Its called “plummy bronze”!

I am obsessed with it! It’s the most beautiful liner and the application is very creamy and smooth!!!

  36. Andrea says:

Ooh that pencil looks beautiful! Nars’ Larger Than Life eyeliner in Via Appia seems like it could be a dupe for the shade swatched on the right, but i can’t think of anything for the other shade. Via Appia is my favourite brown liner as it’s so warm and has a pretty sheen to it!

  37. Jennifer M-K says:

I might actually be able to help you on this Karen! UD crash (discontinued but still available in the sale section at for a mere $4) looks like a slightly shimmery version of the color on the left. UD rockstar could also be a dupe. UD corrupt looks close to the one on the right although it may be a tad darker. Hustle also looks similar to the swatch on the right. Both hustle and rockstar are in the Ocho Loco set so I suggest going to your local sephora and swatching them since if I had to guess those would be the 2 closest πŸ™‚

  38. Sylvia says:

That is SO pretty! It looks like they’d be gorgeous mixed together too. Smart thinking on picking up a couple back ups. Sad I missed out on this one.

Eve Pearl Salmon Concealer and Dual HD Foundation! I’ve heard that the salmon concealer is so universally flattering that its top-notch for covering under eye circles for every skintone. πŸ™ Not a SINGLE established dupe in the internet universe, I wish someone could help me.

  40. Alison says:

I LOVED the Balearic Love collection! The vamps! The bronzes! The reds! The nudes! SO gorgeous. Absolute lust-have for true fans of smoky eyes and reds, right, Karen?

  41. Lena says:

it’s kind of sad reading all these tales of discontinued items. i really hate it when companies discontinue products i like. my heart’s been broken so many times that i don’t really have those raves or HG anymore, because i know where that’s heading…
chanel rouge allure laque in ‘ming’ is one. such a beautiful milky pink. guerlain is also discontinuing my fave foundation, parure gold liquid. sigh. i have one back up and my current bottle is about 2/3. i can’t really afford to hoard more than one bottle ($80-is price), but i might get one more. the finish, color (#02), hold, coverage etc is just spot on for me.

I’m on a constant hunt for drugstore dupes of all high end lipsticks, specifically:
MAC Hue, Myth, Patisserie and Blankety
    YSL RV #1 and #2

Also I was DEVASTATED when Revlon discontinued the colorburst lippies and l/gs. CMON REVLON. Everyone loved them. Soft nude lipstick and Coral Reef lipgloss are my jam (jams?).
Sorry for the mini rant πŸ™‚ I feel your pain, Karen.

  43. Hyzenthlay says:

Chanel Rose Platine liner – the reason I tried Chanel initially! And MAC Gem of Roses, as stated above.

I’m always looking for cruelty free dupes of products from brands that test on animals. For example, Clinique Moisture Surge Intense and Turnaround Overnight Moisture. Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist. Those are just a few!

  45. Nicole says:

    Hey Karen,
