Cue internal monologue:
Oh please, oh please. Don’t let the sleeve fall in the toilet! Why is this thing so hard to get out of!? It’s like origami… I knew I shouldn’t have had that third cup of tea!
Here’s the thing about rompers: I think they’re super cute! — in theory. But they can be tricky in practice, especially — ahem! — if you’re accident-prone and have a small bladder.
But that didn’t stop me! I’d been eying this Leifsdottir Scattered Wing Romper at Anthropologie for ages and finally caved.
Isn’t it cute? The color, the snazzy print, the fluttery sleeves. Oh, and it even has pockets! — which Tabs really appreciates because I use them to carry his turkey flavored Temptations when we go for walks.
My left hand (is in my pocket)!
It’s very lazy-friendly, too, and being lazy at heart, I like not having to think about matching my pants with a shirt. With this, it’s all just there, BAM!
Since this particular romper has stylish little details like the sleeves and the print, it doesn’t need anything extra to jazz it up, but you could add a favorite pair of wedges, and maybe sunglasses or a simple ring.
But what they don’t tell ya about rompers — they’re not the easiest clothes to get off and on, especially when you, um, need to use the loo.
If I’m wearing this one when nature calls, I have to undo a snap at the front, and shimmy my way all the way out of the top half, so that it’s just kinda hanging there when I pull down the bottom part…
Awkward! Especially in public restrooms, where I’m extra paranoid about the sleeves accidentally dragging on the floor or the toilet, ewww.
And what if, for some reason, I have to book it out of a stall in a hurry?
It could happen. Did you ever see Copycat? Remember that bathroom scene? Well, this romper is not designed for quick bathroom escapes, that’s for sure.
But I still love it! Fellow short girls may also like not having to get it hemmed.
I don’t know if this particular Leifsdottir romper is still available online, but you might want to check your local Anthropologie store.
Many stores carry rompers, though, like this cute black and white one at Forever21.
Isn’t the cutout back detailing super cute? And it’s only $15.

Love the romper. Great color on you.
Karen says
Thanks, DeLydia. Are you a romper kinda girl, too?
corallista says
I love your wedges!
Karen says
Would you believe they’re actually really comfy, too? 🙂

That romper is absolutely beautiful!

You are so cute. Love your hair.
Karen says
Hi Kprice,
I just got it done last week. My roots are sighing with relief, LOL! 🙂
How’s your week going? Anything new to report?
Crystal says
You look amazing, love it!
Karen says
Thanks, Crystal! 🙂
Sunny @ Mostly Sunny says
LOVE IT! This totally looks like something I would wear. I wear dresses 365 days a year precisely because I don’t have to pair them with anything. Most of the time they have fancy print too 🙂 Annnd your wedges. I WANT THEM!
Karen says
Hi Sunny,
I hear ya. I love how you can just slip on a dress and be done!
Louise @ A Little Beauty Luxury says
Lol Karen you are too funny! This romper looks adorable on you! But your point about public restrooms makes me think twice about about ever purchasing one… 😉
xx Louise
Karen says
Hi Louise,
They’re not the easiest things to wear, but some are just so darn cute, you know?
You should try one on at least once. Just for fun!
Chris25 says
I love this on you! And I love that pose at the end. 😀
Karen says
Hi Chris,
LOL, I don’t know what’s going on there at the end. 🙂
Chelsea says
My torso is way too long for rompers, they always pull! This one is beautiful though!
Karen says
Hi Chelsea,
I have the opposite issue. I’m short waisted, so lots of skirts and high-waisted things look odd. I’d love a long torso, le sigh!
Hope you’re having a good week so far. Is it Friday yet?
Chelsea says
I hope not! I have a group paper due that I haven’t started my part of yet…
Karen says
Oh noes! I used to be a last minute writer when I was in school… totally understand. What’s the paper on? Anything interesting?
Chelsea says
I am definitely a last minute writer! It’s for my graduate Strategic Brand Management class – we had to create a new brand extension or sub-brand, and we created a line of UV-Protective Clothing for babies and toddlers from Chicco. Now our group just has to design the integrated marketing campaign, put in criteria for evaluation, and we’ll be done for the semester!
Melissa says
I love that we are all good friends here enough to chat about rompers hitting the deck in public bathrooms. You really love us don’t you Karen 😉 You crack me up!
Karen says
Haha, me too, Melissa! 😀 We’re all friends here!
How was your day? Today was a slow one for me. This whole week has been slow, as a matter o’ fact!
Melissa says
My day was actually really great and productive – and I didn’t go to work 🙂 I had more to do at home than at work so I took the day off. Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta go. Hang in there it’s almost Friday!
Karen says
I hear ya. Sometimes I feel I have more work to do around the house then actual work, LOL! I hope you managed to sneak in a little fun on your day off.
Elle says
“It could happen. Did you ever see Copycat? Remember that bathroom scene? Well, this romper is not designed for quick bathroom escapes, that’s for sure.”
DUDE. That haunts my dreams!!
And you nailed the reason as to why I can’t ever romper it up…my constant need for water plus my small bladder and weird need to know where every bathroom is at every location kills it for me! And the Copycat scene!! 🙂
Karen says
ZOMG. I think that movie traumatized many, many people. To this day, if I go into a bathroom with lots of empty stalls I always pause for a second and think, “Hmmm…is there anything I can I use in here as a weapon?” Airport bathrooms are the SCARIEST, btw.
Elle says
…you do look SUPER cute though 🙂 You wear a romper well!
Karen says
Aww, thanks, my friend.
It’s been a while since I’ve heard from ya! What’s going on? Are you still boxing?
Elle says
It has been a while! I still lurk, but thanks to the fact that work has been nutso, I can’t read and comment as much during the day, when I’m on my computer the most! You are still my favorite beauty blog!
And yup, still boxing 🙂 Took a small break thanks to getting rear ended (nothing serious, but my lower back has always bugged me and that made it worse for a few weeks), and I’m also trying to get in some pilates and maybe Shen Tao. I’m told it’s fun, but I honestly have no idea what I’m getting myself into.
Glad all is well with you…and yes, TOTES on the airport bathrooms…ughhhhh…
Gwen says
Hi Karen! I think you look great in the romper! The blue is awesome too!
Love your blog! Keep it up!
Do check out mine at http://www.makeuptoys.com!
Karen B says
That looks brilliant on you. I love me a good bird-like print and that colour is amazing.
Jen says
I love the print! It’s so cute. I’m not a big fan of rompers though, precisely because of the going to the bathroom thing… Ha! I gotta start getting more dresses in my wardrobe though, because it’s spring!
Syl says
Karen, you look great. Sometimes, you have to splurge on yourself and get cute stuff like this! I like your fashion posts, too bad Tabs couldn’t be in the pic too. I understand, I heard his modeling rates have gone up!:)
Swatch And Learn says
Your sandals are really cute, and they look pretty comfy, too!
Marian says
Very cute! My daughter’s wearing a romper today. She’s tiny like you and it looks great on her too.
Kiran says
You are looking gorgeous Karen !!
Kim says
First of all, this romper is adorable on you. Secondly, I’m trying to control my laughter when I picture myself wearing it. Every bathroom mishap possible comes to mind, not to mention dragging my sleeves in everything I try to eat. I accidentally bought a romper a couple of weeks ago (thinking it was a tunic shirt). Imagine my surprise when I got home and tried it on. Needless to say, it’s in a bag awaiting its return to the store! 🙂 Did I mention that they’re super cute on you, though??
Nina says
You look uhmmmazzziingg! And OMGGG did you say (or type) pockets? I love pockets on anything! I have asked to be taken to a place called City Centre on my birthday day off and im going inside Anthropologie, whether the hubs likes it or not.
I might be too short for the romper but im going to try and find a skirt or a dress with pockets! 🙂
NeenaJ says
LOL! Seriously, they couldn’t build in a crotch-fly? I’d have to wear a Depends just to ensure I didn’t pee while struggling to get out of it to pee!
Super cute, though. I love the kimono style of it.
Jae says
love, love, love it! Love the hair, love the romper, love the make up, love the accessories…suuuper cute!!
Karen says
Thanks, Jae!
Tekoa says
If they create this romper with a cat print (pauses to boggle in amazement) I am so getting that.
Karen says
That would be AMAZING.
Barbara says
Very cute on you! Too old to wear rompers now, but wore them back in the day! Having always had a small bladder and wearing them to go out drinking didn’t mix too well!
Karen says
Hi Barbara,
Thank you! Oh, and I bet you could still rock the romper!
Ana B. says
you look simply AMAZING!!!! great look head to toe
Melessa says
cute! its like modern 60s
