We were like dancing fools in here last night/this morning, yo! El Hub, Tabs and I. We actually made it to midnight just watching Breaking Bad, and then at about 11:30 our time we switched on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve and yelled out the countdown as the ball dropped in Times Square.
We smooched, of course, and then opened all the doors in the house to let in the good luck.
I don’t know if that’s just a family thing or if other people do it, too, but we like to open the doors right at midnight and welcome the good luck into the house. “Come in! Come in! We’re bringing in the good luck!”
Tabs got a little poofy-tailed and scared when he heard some fireworks off in the distance, and he kind of freaked out when we opened the sliding glass door to his deck garden, because I think he smelled firecracker smoke, but he quickly relaxed and joined in the festivities, zipping around our feet while El Hub and I rocked out in the living room.
This is gonna be a good year. 🙂 I know it.
And you’re gonna have a good one, too. We’re all going to have a great year, dammit! Nothing will stop us. We’ll make it happen through sheer force of will!
Right now I’m still slightly groggy from staying up late, but at least I don’t have any big plans for the day. El Hub is home, so we’re talking about going for a hike later in Muir Woods, which is about 30 minutes away. It’s sunny but cold. Pretty good hike weather.
I definitely want to do something out of the house at some point, though. Nothing epic or huge, but I do feel like I should eventually get outside, LOL!
How are you doing? Happy new years, BTW. Welcome to 2014. 🙂
Since I have nothing specifically exciting to say (I mean, I could tell you about how much I’m looking forward to my first cup of dreamy, delicious coffee this morning, because it’s all I can think about right now), let’s just chat about anything in the open thread, OK?
If you’re new to the open thread, here it is in a nutshell:
It’s kinda like our virtual living room, where we can chill and chat in the comments about anything and everything we want — makeup, relationships, work, school, hobbies, TV shows, or anything else.
Everyone here is very cool, too, so feel free to reach out. The open thread lasts all day and night, so pop by whenever you can, and as often as you like.
I saved a spot for you on the couch!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
Yogirl says
Happy 2014 and lots of life, love and laugh to you, El Hub, Tabs and all the other readers! Have a wonderful year and live life to the max!
Love from London 🙂
Karen says
Hi Yogirl,
Thanks for the New Year’s wishes. What did you end up doing to celebrate?
Yogirl says
Hi Karen,
as it was raining nearly all day and I still got a bad cold I stayed in, watched Criminal Minds reruns and sorted my makeup (start the new year fresh!). Now I’ll give myself a pedi/mani and try to go to bed on early.
Enjoy the hike and the sunshine.
Karen says
Sounds like a mellow and relaxing time. I hope that you’re taking care of yourself and that you feel better soon. What colors are you using for your mani/pedi?
Yogirl says
Pedi will be Chanel Blue Satin and mani will be Nails Inc Gel Effect polish in Kensington High Street (dark pink aubergine). I tend to buy so many nail polishes and one of my 2014 resolutions is to wear them all!
Karen says
GURL, I hear that. I may need to start wearing multi-colored manis 24/7. Do you ever do nail art? That might be a fun way to get in as many colors in as possible into one look!
Gina says
Happy New Year all! I too have a great feeling about 2014, and think I’ll celebrate with a little shopping trip to my local MAC – did anyone else get the Goodbyes email about items being discontinued? Any must-haves on that list I should check out?
Karen says
Happy New Year, Gina!
I saw that email and was sad to see Prep + Prime Vibrancy Eye Primer on the list. I guess I better stock up.
What’s on your MAC shopping list?
Gina says
Hmmm well I definitely had Prep + Prime Vibrancy Eye Primer on the list just to check out, I haven’t used anything from the Prep + Prime list yet (I know! I’m a MAC newbie) but I like the sound of this product. I just bought the Pro Longwear Lipcreme in So Very Good and REALLY love it so I’m going to grab a back up. It’s a nice, slightly darker than bare on me, subtle lip color which I like. Ooh and I’m also very interested in trying out the Strobe Liquid lotion to add a little OOMPH! to my face routine… if that makes any sense!!! 🙂
Karen says
Nice! Aren’t those MLBB colors great? I carry, like, five of ’em in my purse at any given time.
DUDE…Strobe ROCKS. I use Strobe Cream though. Want me to give you a link of the review? Just let me know.
Gina says
I actually saw your Strobe Cream review right before I left the house and you’re right – I did like it better than the Liquid version so I grabbed the cream one.
I actually did have a question about one thing I got today – do you Karen (or any readers out there!) have the Prep + Prime Natural Radiance? I loved how smooth it made the back of my hand when I swatched it, but what is your favorite way to use it?
I’ve really enjoyed the open thread today! Like some fellow readers I’m on to do a pile of laundry and jump on my stationary bike while I jam to the new Beyonce album 🙂
Karen says
Nice! It’s a wonderful product and I hope that you love it just as much as I do.
Oooh, and I love, love, LOVE Prep + Prime Natural Radiance (here’s a review). It’s a wonderful primer and I wear it almost every day. Doesn’t break me out, makes the skin look much smoother both in real life and pictures and it layers well with other products. If they ever discontinued it I would be hoardin’ like there was no tomorrow!
Karen says
BTW, how is the new Beyonce album? I haven’t had a chance to listen to it yet, but I’ve seen a bunch of still pics of makeup from the videos and it looks AMAZING.
Gina says
Following up from a few comments below (I can’t find the reply button for those!) – I am SO excited to try the P+P Natural Radiance after reading your review, thanks for that!
As for the Beyonce album – a million times YES, the videos are just stunning. I probably sat here at my desk and watched them all with my mouth open just marveling at how gorgeous she looked (BOLD bold bold burgundy, red, and pink lips and bright, glittery eyes), but also at how extremely talented she is. The songs are pretty good, and I definitely have my favorites (XO, Haunted, and Blow- a fun disco one!). A good chunk of the album has, like, slowed-down and, er, kinda sexy songs (especially Rocket. I feel silly writing it but it’s true!!!). Reminiscent of sexy Janet Jackson songs, even. In all, I’m glad I downloaded it and got some really good workout songs to add to my playlist from it!
Karen says
I hope you love Natural Radiance. I have backups of backups…SERIOUSLY. It’s my fave primer!
Okay, I will have to find those songs you mentioned and listen to them ’cause I’m always in need of good workout music! Lately I’ve been listening to Prism (Katy Perry) and Megalithic Symphony (Awolnation) and need some new songs to get my butt moving.
Did you see the video where Beyonce has kind of like a bob haircut and these smokey blue eyes? OMG — AMAZING. I want to wear that look to Target LOL. Also kinda funny that you mentioned Janet Jackson because I was listening to her during my run today. Remember Black Cat? I rocked out to that during my last mile today. MEOW!
Gina says
OOOH Awolnation is fun!!! I’ve never heard of them before but I like!!! YESsss Black Cat! Such a good one! I’ll have to move that one onto my workout list.
And seriously, every single look in all of B’s new vids is just perfection, totally totally fierce – obviously completely Target appropriate!! 🙂
Katherine M says
Happy New Year everyone! I am finishing up some laundry and I will probably work out. A new season of Dance Moms is on tonight (reality tv show guilty pleasure). Hubby got me the Naked 3 palette for my birthday that was on December 26 – I absolutely love it! Rose gold is one of those shades that is always flattering and never really goes out of style or trend. I give Hubby credit for walking into Ulta to get it – he always gets overwhelmed by the makeup stores hahahahaha. I will probably check in here on and off as I do laundry and some Olympic lifting.
Karen says
Hi Katherine,
Haha! I love it. I don’t watch that show but I know I could EASILY get sucked in (says the girl who sat through every season of Flavor of Love, OMG!).
Happy belated birthday, btw. What did you do to celebrate?
Katherine M says
Thanks! I never intended to watch Dance Moms but one night hubby and I were channel surfing and I got sucked in by the acrobatic dance routines (something I’ve always wanted to do, but it takes way too much coordination on my part). We went to Monocacy Crossing here in Frederick (it’s by the Monocacy River, which is a very historic river in Frederick. George Washington went down it in the Revolutionary War!). It’s a cute little restaurant that has amazing food – it’s essentially American food with a twist, think bbq shrimp with lobster grits. My parents had never been there so they really enjoyed it! If you ever come to MD that is definitely a restaurant you should visit. What are you doing on this chilly New Year’s day?
Karen says
Yeah, the things that dancers can do are amazing. Kinda makes me wish I started when I was really young, rather than in my 20s. Better late than never, I guess!
Thank you for the restaurant recommendation, and happy belated birthday again! I have a long list of fun things to do in MD thanks to you. 🙂 That dish with BBQ shrimp and lobster grits sounds right up my alley.
So. today ended up being a fitness day, which was nice. I went for a run on the treadmill, and it was really fun. I took yesterday off so my legs were rested and recovered, and I got a decent amount of sleep, which always helps to make runs easier. After that, El Hub talked me into going for a long walk around the neighborhood. We saw a bunch of people walking, too, with families and dogs, and said Happy New Year to them.
We just finished eating a late lunch, and now we’re thinking about maybe going to a movie tonight.
Did you finish your laundry? I’m doing mine right now.
Katherine M says
I ended up making it a fitness day, too. I did Olympic lifts with my upper body, since my leg is not 100% and won’t be ready for running just yet (about another week), and some ab/glute work with my exercise ball. I finished my laundry and I’m relaxing and awaiting the new season of Dance Moms, which is starting tonight! It sounds like you had a really fun day 🙂 Relaxing, but productive, too.
Silk Mandel says
Woah! Rewind…lol. BBQ Shrimp with Lobster Grits?!?! Who? What? When? and….WHERE???
Karen says
Yay, one more week! I know you’ve been recovering for a while, so I’m glad you’ll be able to be running again soon. Have soooo much fun watching Dance Moms! I might just have to Tivo it, LOL!
Oh, did I tell you about my other new TV guilty pleasure? Watching Hawaii Life on HG TV. It follows people who are looking for houses in Hawaii. It’s very formulaic and staged, but I just love the scenery.
Karen says
Hey Silk Mandel,
I know, right? I wish that dish would magically appear right now! I’m hungry!
Chris25 says
Happy New Year, beauties! I spent NYE….sick. I got a slight cold and I’m nursing it now.
Karen says
Happy New Year, Chris!
I hope you’re feeling better. Did they kitties enjoy NYE?
Deanna says
Happy New Year, Karen! I think everyone in my neighborhood had fireworks last night. My dogs were pretty freaked out by all the festivities, but I enjoyed watching the fireworks from the comfort of my home. It was very cold here, so my husband and I decided to celebrate in our warm home this year. I have a good feeling about 2014! Hope your year is terrific!
Karen says
Hi Deanna,
I hope you and your family have a wonderful 2014! 🙂
I’m sorry if I’ve already asked you this, but what are the names of your dogs? I would LOVE to get Tabs a puppy…something tells me that he’s not having that though, LOL!
Karen says
Hi gals,
Just a heads up! One of my fave eyeliners, BECCA’s Cabrera, is currently on sale now on Hautelook for $8! This is a discontinued shade (BOO!), so if you love this liner as much as I do you might want to stock up. At full price it’s $23, so eight bucks is a total steal.
Agata says
Happy New Year Karen. I’m taking it easy today recovering from the night of partying. Looking forward to what 2014 will bring. It should be a great year.
Karen says
Happy New Year, Agata! What did you and your hubby do to celebrate?
I hope 2014 brings you so much luck and happiness. 🙂
Agata says
We went to a party at our friends house. It was ok but more people came than expected and a lot of them I don’t know very well so it could have been better. But I was still with my closest friends so that’s what counts!
And I hope New year brings you joy and happiness too and lots of make up and delicious gravy for Tab!
Karen says
Yes, that’s totally what counts. As long as you’re with the people you love…it’s all good. 🙂
Were you able to Skype with your family in Poland? I know you’re very close to your mom and sister, so I hope you were able to talk to them.
I chatted with my family briefly after midnight. On New Year’s Eve, we always call each other right after the clock strikes twelve. That way, we’re kind of with each other, you know?
Myra says
Hi Karen!
I’m in the market for a new MAC lippie, but I’d like to get a shade as close to the Pantone shade of the year, Orchid. Which one would you recommend???
I’d like to pick it up today if I can get your opinion ASAP 🙂
Thanks!!
Karen says
Hey Myra,
The MAC counter on the first day of the year…a great way to start 2014. Check out Up the Amp and Violetta. Let me know what you end up going with!
breyerchic04 says
I grabbed Up The Amp on the day after christmas, it was perfect for me! I do want Heroine as well but it’s darker than the color of the year.
FreshEyre says
I just bought Violetta yesterday ! Great choice, even though it is a bit more intense than Pantone’s Radiant Orchid. I also got Pervette, because who can buy just ONE thing at the MAC counter ?!? 🙂
Karen says
I know I can’t. I go in there for one thing and next thing you know…
Susan says
The hubby and I made our first trip to the San Francisco area this year all the way from Florida and we loved it! We hiked several trails in different parks, but Muir Woods was one of our favorites. We went at the beginning of November and the weather was perfect-sunshine and upper 60/low 70 temperatures. You certainly live in a beautiful part of the country!
Karen says
Hi Susan,
You were here at the BEST time to visit. I love the Bay Area especially from September – November. That’s when the weather is absolutely beautiful!
Did you guys make it up to Napa?
meredith says
Happy new year everyone! I’m starting the year off by doing some de-cluttering and organizing around the house for a fresh start. Among other things in 2014 I’d like to develop my fragrance collection and train my nose more. I recently read Luca Turin’s book “Secret of Scent” and was fascinated and inspired. Here’s to a year of loveliness for everyone!
Karen says
Hi Meredith,
That sounds like a great way to start the year. I need to do a little de-cluttering too. It’s so overwhelming though, you know? I feel like I spend hours trying to organize things and I never get anywhere.
Anywho, being a scent hound and all I love that training your nose is one of your goals! I will have to pick up that book, it sounds interesting.
What scents are you currently wearing and loving? I’m currently going back and forth between Estee Lauder’s Modern Muse and Chanel Mademoiselle.
meredith says
I like those fragrances too! A couple more I’ve enjoyed wearing recently are Chanel Chance and La Petite Robe Noire eau de toilette by Guerlain.
Lena says
happy new year, karen!
well, my goal is pretty humble this year — never have to visit another emergency room. this year or any other year, for that matter. my parents had so much health troubles in 2013. i hope it’s all behind us.
as for myself, i dunno. not much really but to keep chasing those opportunities at work, and dive more.
well, let’s go 2014, bring it on!
Karen says
Happy New Year, Lena!
I hope that you and your family stay healthy this year. And that you guys have lots of luck!
So, are you a diver? Like, high dives or dives in the ocean?
Lena says
thanks karen, you and your family too.
and it’s scuba dive, in the ocean. 😀
breyerchic04 says
2013 was the year my dad died after a four year battle with cancer and then many other shoes dropped and stuff happened. But I also wrote most of a book on yarn, had a fabulous vacation, and really got into working on skincare. In 2014 I really want to finish the book and start on the publication process.
My big makeup sad as I mentioned in an innapropriate thread (haha) was that last night MAC emailed and discontinued Vibrancy Eye! How dare they? It’s necessary for my concealer to work.
Karen says
Hi Breyerchic,
I’m sorry to hear about your dad’s passing. My condolences to you and your family. Both my moms (my birth mom and my mom-in-law) have had cancer and I know how rough it is on families; I hope that in time you and yours will be able heal.
On a happier note, I’m very interested to hear about your book. That’s a great accomplishment. What made you decide to write about yarn? Are you a knitter?
The job I had before the blog was in publishing; I worked for a book agent. If you want any advice before you start shopping your book around, let me know. I don’t really know anybody in the scene, but I can give you some general info if you’d like.
breyerchic04 says
Thanks! I may take you up on that advice. I am a knitter and designer, and while I know what publishers to go to, I don’t really know what to do to contact them and get them interested or you know much else 😉
Sherry says
It never fails to brighten my day when I get your emails and come and hang out on your awesome blog. Smiling is great exercise LOL. Happy New Year to you and yours! I propose to be more daring in my makeup life this year…blah is OUT
Karen says
Hi Sherry,
Smiling is great exercise. 🙂 My mom says if you smile, the whole world smiles with you!
I’m very excited about your makeup resolution to be more daring. I’m going to try to do that too. How are you going to start? Maybe with a bright lip?
Silvia says
Happy New Year everyone from Germany! Me and my boyfriend spent the day very relaxed. We had a big breakfast and then went for a short walk outside. I called some friends and then we cooked dinner meaning I assisted him 😉 this year…: I bought some NARS goodies in NYC and am really looking forward to wear them.(We don’t have NARS counters here) Next up is l/s Goodbye Emmanuelle. I saw this on you Karen and decided to get it :))
Karen says
Hi Silvia,
Happy New Year from the SF Bay Area (Marin county, to be exact). Sounds like you had a wonderful first day of the year.
You’ve gotta tell me about the NARS goodies you picked up. Please tell me you got a tube of their awesome eyeshadow primer!
Silvia says
I got the blush Gaiety, red lizard l/s and roman holiday l/s 🙂
the last one I am topping with a warm gloss to warm it up a bit.
No I don’t have the eyeshadow primer…goes on my list!
BETSY says
Happy New Year to all of you! Wishing you all love, laughs, and the chance to do some good for others this year. Karen, you make me smile and that Gravy Boy of yours has my heart. I am gonna do my part here and in my little universe to make sure 2014 is a kick butt year for everyone. 🙂
Karen says
Guess what, Betsy? The tabby got extra treats and gravy today, seeing how it’s New Year’s and all. 🙂
What did you do last night to celebrate? I hope that your new year is filled luck, health and happiness!
Natalie says
Happy New Year! I spent the day watching Hostages and chilling on the sofa with the bf and the cats! I was a little hungover so its been a very lazy day. I need to look at the MAC goodbyes list!
I placed a couple of beauty orders today for Daniel Sandler Watercolour blush and Bourjois cream blush, as well as some yoga paws to help with sweaty hands when doing yoga, and some FACE gel eyeliner.
Tomorrow I’m going to venture to the sales again, hopefully more productive than my trip on Monday!
Karen says
Hi Natalie,
That sounds like the perfect day to me. Ooh, so I’ve heard really good things about that Daniel Sandler Blush, but I haven’t tried it yet. You’ll have to tell me if it’s good.
What are you going to shop for tomorrow? Hope you find some good deals!
Carrie says
Hi Karen. Just wanted to say how nice it was to always have your website to turn to not only for makeup but for the wonderful Tabs stories and photos as well. I am going through a hard time (I was “this close” to divorce 2 days after Christmas) and reading your blog always comforted me. I love how you have the ability to make me smile!
Karen says
Hi Carrie,
I’m sorry to hear that you’re having a hard time right now. I’ve been through those patches too. Remember — this too shall pass.
Tabs is having a wonderful New Year’s Day watching birds and hanging out with his humans. He sends his regards. 🙂
What did you do for NYE? Anything exciting or fun? We stayed at home, which was fine with me. I was really tired (went out the night before) and didn’t want to deal with the crowds.
Johanna says
FYI! Becca Cabrera eyeliner on Hautelook right now for $8!!! I know you were looking for it. Happy new year!
Karen says
Hi Johanna,
Yes, that’s awesome! I definitely stocked up. Did you get anything?
Jenn says
Hi Karen,
I discovered your blog in 2013 (I know, where I have I been??) and let me tell you, I love checking in here everyday. It picks me up and helps pass the time at work. And GAH, have you helped me add to my hoarder makeup collection. From one CCL to another, Happy New Year and thanks for all the posts! 🙂
Karen says
Hi Jenn,
I’m so happy that you finally found the site (better late than never, right?). Sometimes I can’t believe that I’ve been doing this for seven years! I still enjoy it every day.
Yay for crazy cat ladies. 🙂 How many kitties do you have, and what are they like? Tabs is my only kitty boy. If I had my way, he’d have a bunch of brothers and sisters (and maybe even some foster friends to play with), but he’s very possessive of his humans, so we’re a one cat family.
Iris says
Happy New Year to you and your family, Karen! May 2014 be excellent to you all!
Karen says
Happy New Year, Iris! How did you spend your NYE and day?
Iris says
I spent New Year’s Eve at home contacting people via messaging and email to wish them happy new year. Spent midnight with my parents. Today I’m relaxing at home before going back into work tomorrow. It’s going to be difficult as I’ve been on vacation for eight days. O_o
Karen says
That sounds really nice. 🙂 I bet they were happy to be with you! How was your time off from work? Did you go anywhere?
Iris says
It was nice. 🙂
My time off work was relaxing but I didn’t get anything done that I’d planned to. Didn’t go anywhere but it was still a good time off.
Cheers!
Myra says
Thanks for the Orchid lippies suggestions! I think I’m leaning towards Violetta 🙂
Is there really a MAC Goodbyes List?? This is only my 1st 6 months into makeup obsession – still a newbie!
Karen says
They sent out an email yesterday to a link of items they’re discontinuing. If you sign up to get the MAC emails you’ll get notices. Here’s a link:
http://www.maccosmetics.com/products/featured_goodbyes.tmpl?LOCALE=en_US&cm_mmc=email-_-Dec-_-0101_Goodbyes-_-main
Myra says
Is MAC Show Orchid too lighter than the Radiant Orchid color of the year?
Karen says
Hey Myria,
It’s more pink than purple. Here’s a swatch.
becca says
Happy New Year!! gotta say, ur story about the mud bath and thoughts of poo in the mud was hilarious!!! I look forward to reading ur blogs and just introduced my sister to ur blogs as well. I love seeing u show colours on ur skin….as a Native American woman, i have always been hesitant to use colours. ur skin color is close to mine so u inspire me to try new things. thank you!! And also, I know ur a cool chick becuz u love cats and BrBa!!
Karen says
Hi Becca,
Happy New Year to you too!
Re: the mud bath. My first and last one, LOL! If you ever plan on getting one I highly recommend asking if they use fresh mud, OMG.
Oh, and thank you for recommending the site to your sister…I love to hear things like that! 🙂
I hope that the New Year brings you lots of good things, including some colorful makeup. You *can* wear color! Maybe start with a colorful eyeshadow or liner that you like, or a bright lipstick. Doesn’t matter as long as it moves you. That’s what’s most important.
P.S. Do you have any kitties?
Jeannie says
Happy new year Karen!
I have a few questions for you. What brands would you recommend for the basics? What are things you just can’t live without? (Foundation/powder?, eyeliners?, blush?, lipsticks?, mascara?) I tend to buy things I see advertised, and end up not liking it. What are your all time favorites?
Silk Mandel says
Jeannie,
What type of skin do you have, what color are your eyes and what is your skin tone? If you don’t mind I’d like to share some of my faves with you too!
Karen says
Happy New Year, Jeannie! I hope you had a nice first day of 2014. 🙂
Okay, let’s get to the questions…
— What brands would you recommend for the basics? There’s a lot of great brands out there, but when I travel and need to only bring the bare minimum, I end up bringing a mix of a lot of NARS, MAC and Chanel.
— What are things you just can’t live without?
— Foundation/powder? MAC Face & Body Foundation, NARS Tinted Moisturizer, MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation, MAC Careblends Pressed Foundation, Chanel Loose Powder.
— Eyeliners?
BECCA’s Cabrera liner duo (sadly, it’s discontinued, but it’s on sale now on Hautelook for $8, OMG), MAC Powersurge Eye Kohl, Urban Decay Bourbon 24/7 Gel Liner, MAC Costa Riche Eye Kohl, MAC Smolder Eye Kohl, MAC Blacktrack Fluidline and NARS Eye Paint (especially the jewel-tone shades like Tatar), Chanel Santal, Chanel Cassis.
In the spring, summer and early fall I was wearing a lot of gel liners like UD’s Perversion, which is fantastic! Bobbi’s is great, too. I haven’t been wearing them during the winter, though, because my eyes have been really dry and sensitive lately.
— Blush?
MAC Blushbaby, MAC Cantaloupe, NARS Amour, NARS Lustre, NARS Madly, Benefit Dallas and Dolce & Gabbana Peach. Also Chanel’s Joues Constrates (um…all of ’em).
–Lipsticks?
MAC Viva Glam V, Dolce & Gabbana Gentle Monica, Too Faced Juicy Melons and Tom Ford Sable Smoke, NARS Dolce Vida for everyday colors. For brights, MAC Impassioned, MAC Vegas Volt, NARS Lodhi, NARS Yu and NARS Luxembourg.
— Mascara?
Chanel Le Volume, Clarins Be Long, YSL Faux Cils.
HTH! Let me know if you have any other Q’s. 🙂
Silk Mandel says
Hi Everyone!
I wish you all a happy and prosperous new year. Have you made any goals? I have some ideas swirling in my head, but nothing set in stone. I want to eat better, exercise more, make more Youtube videos, work on new jewelry designs and more! I’m really going to sit down over the weekend and think it out on paper. I hope that whatever your goals or wishes are that you are successful!
CHEERS 🙂
Karen says
Happy New Year, Silk Mandel! Thank you for sharing your goals. I’d like to finish my days by 6, walk every day, spend more time with my family and cook more meals at home. I’d also like to learn how to play guitar.
So tell me about your jewelry designs. What types of things do you create?
Nicole says
Happy New Year, Karen!
I know you’ve been marathon watching Breaking Bad at the moment, but here are a few others for your consideration:
Carrie Diaries; took me at least three episodes to get hooked
Orange is the New Black (can’t remember if you’ve seen this series yet)
The Wire
Also, thank you for being a knowledgable source for ideas, inspiration and thoughtful banter — you’re one of the best gals out there.
Btw, tried dragon fruit for the first time last week and I couldn’t get into it:/
Karen says
Hi Nicole,
Happy New Year to you too! Thank you for always stopping by and leaving such nice comments. You are appreciated. 🙂
So, shows! Ya know, I tried watching The Carrie Diaries but couldn’t get into it. I’ll give a few more eps a try.
Orange Is the New Black — love!
So many people have recommended The Wire; I’ll have to marathon it eventually. 🙂
Aww, why didn’t you like dragon fruit? Was it not sweet enough? I’m craving one right now…
Nicole says
Awe, thanks.
The Wire is diverse in that each season focuses on a different aspect of the Baltimore Community. So you get the police and the gangs, the corruption in and around the docks, the newspaper and media industry and finally everything in between. In the final season it really comes full circle and I suspect you’ll recognize a lot of actors along the way. A must!
Nicole says
Shoot, forgot about the dragon fruit. It was more of a texture thing. Was hoping it’d taste similar to a kiwi.
I’m weird like that.
Rads says
Hii Karen…am working today, but just wanted to wish you a happpy new year! 😀 😀
Karen says
Happy New Year, Rads!!! 😀 Hope 2014 is filled with lots of Chanel.
Karen says
Hi friend, I hope 2014 is wonderful for y’all! I spent today at MAC and I came home with Harmony blush, rich experience liner, mineralized skin finish, and a fix plus! I retuned costa riche, it was too red for me.
I need to go grab that primer now 😉
xoo
