Several years ago, I bought the Eyes to Kill (intense) cream eyeshadow from Armani when they came out. Fell for them in a big way! And they fell on me. Literally. Intense!
Of course it was the copper one that I grabbed first. And I was wearing it to a formal occasion (my birthday luncheon). I checked in the bathroom mirror and the stuff had fallen all around my eyes, especially under the eye. Fine lines I did not know existed were there. Not a good way to celebrate a year added!
So I am wondering if this same problem would happen — to me — I did not read about it with anyone else online — the raves were intense! But the cream-to-powder formula of Armani on my oily eyelids = avalanche fallout.
Thanks for the quick wrap-up. Tabs obviously wanted a supporting role!
Forgot to add my faves — which I use every day – are the Bobbi Brown cream eye shadows. i tried the MAC Paint Pots and loved the shades but my oily lids turned them into oil slicks.
I use maybelline color tattoos every time I wear eyeshadow. It makes an amazing base and my eyeshadow never creases. Plus, you can wear them on their own if you don’t have time to do powder eyeshadow.
Same here. These days I neverever wear powder eyeshadow whitout first a thin layer of Maybelline color tattoo. Only for the lighter shades I use MAC paint pot in the color Bare Study.
A LOT! I think a good creme eyeshadow is the ultimate makeup product.. its versatile and can sometimes act as a highlighter too (if the shade is close to the skintone!) I love Chanel’s Mirage its the most gorgeous color I own! MAC’s Indianwood paint pot is another fave!
I love them.
But i don’t have a lot :
– the Paul&Joe duo lip and eye : love love love !!!
– the Illamasqua Reflection palette : weird texture, hard to use … for me
I use cream shadows every day. Either as a base or as the main. My preferences are cream shadow sticks bc they’re easier to use than pots, but I still purchase pots, especially the newest craze, the springy cushiony shadows. My favorite shadow sticks are the Laura Mercier caviar sticks.
I don’t do much with cream shadows. The few I’ve bought dried up. I’ve played with the eye paints from NARS and some from LM but the LM creased like no ones business and I don’t think the NARS qualify as shadow. These eye tints are on my radar though!
Great video, but I would like to see you for longer ones please…any chance of a cream shadow tutorial?? I love to use the Laura Mercier Amethyst cream shadow stick ( i have the mini set) but they do not last a full work day (8 hours) 🙁
I used to use cream eyeshadow a LOT but then I just kinda stopped… and now I don’t often reach for them anymore. Powder is just easier I guess. I always liked Shiseido’s cream eyeshadows.
I use cream eyeshadows only when I’m in a rush and have time to do only a simple look. My favourite Maybelline Color Tattoos and Michael Todd long wearing cream eyeshadows because they are the only ones who don’t crease on my lids within minutes.
I looove love love Laura Mercier’s Caviar Stick in Amethyst. Basically all eyeshadows crease on me without primer (because my eyelids get oily), but the LM formula doesn’t budge all day long WITHOUT primer!
I find I’ve been using cream eye shadows more, after I bought the Tom Ford shadow in Platinum. I also like Chanel Illusion d’Ombre in Mirage and Fatal. I’m hoping you do a demonstration video of the new Armani eye tints as I’m still struggling to blend it out evenly.
I use cream eye shadows about once a week. I use L’Oreal Infalliable Lacquer Liner in Bronze. I layer it under gold or copper powder eye shadows that would other wise be too bright for work wear. I also use Avon’s Extra Lasting cream eye shadow in maroon and in a metallic blue a stand alone shadows. Because I’m a bit squeamish about getting things on my finger tips or under my nails, I don’t use cream eye shadow as much–I apply only with my fingers.
M’kay, just read your GA review and I love cream/liquid eyeshadows the best for staying power. I think the GA will be my new fave. My previous fave, when I could get it on this side of the pond was the Pout Eyeslick Eyeshadow – but Sephora stopped carrying Pout UK so 🙁
I use Mally’s eye shadow sticks a lot for eye shadow and I use Tarte’s eye shadow sticks as eye liners a lot. It’s so much easier in the morning when I’m getting ready for work because I don’t have to spend time cleaning brushes.
I just love your personality, Karen! I wear cream shadows nearly every business day. They’re just too convenient in the morning when I’m too sleepy to do much more than BB Cream and Cream Shadow. I use the Maybelline Tattoo ones, but they dry up rather quickly, and I’ve never even gotten close to finishing half a pot. This product packaging looks more ideal for cream shadows, and I love the finish. Thank you for posting about it!
I love love L.O.V.E Estée Lauder’s cream eyeshadows and I’m currently obsessing over their copper one (forgot the name…eek), but I’ve been using it daily, blending out with a bit of bronzer all the way around the eye.
Love your video! I use cream shadows when I am in a rush or want a simple look. I love cream shadow sticks, too. These are the ones that have worked well for me (I still always use a primer, like NYX Hi-Def or UD Primer Potion in Sin):
~NYX shadow stick in Rose Gold
~Maybelline Color Tattoo (love most of the shades)
~Benefit Creaseless Creams – Holy Smokes, Two Cents, and Birthday Suit.
~Smashbox 15 hour cream shadow in Neptune (the color is super unique – big points to Smashbox for that one).
~UD 24/7 Shadow Sticks (not sure if they make them anymore) in Morphine and Midnight Cowboy.
I absolutely love the Buxom cream eyeshadows. The color “mutt” is my jam. Another cream I love are the Flower Cosmetics ones. So long lasting and easy to use.
I don’t use cream eyeshadows often but when I do it’s usually Maybelline Color Tattoos or NYX shadow sticks. Sometimes I line to use my Chanel cream eyeliners too when I want a little extra sparkle
These GA cream shadows look amazing! I loooove cream shadows as a base, or as my lid color, & then just add a matte powder shadow to my crease, above crease, & browbone as a simple day look.
I received a 100pt. reward sample size of Bare Minerals 5-in-1 BB eyeshadow in Barely Nude, & have been using them ever since. I do find them a bit pricey @ $18 for only 3ml/.10fl oz.’s though…
I like L’ORÉAL’s Infallible shadows, but not sure if they qualify as a “cream”..
* & I’m waiting on a Colour Pop order, they’re considered a “mousse” texture, which is close to cream. & although I don’t officially have them yet, from all the reviews I’ve read & vids I’ve watched, I know that I’m going to enjoy them 😉
I use cream eyeshadow almost daily. They are quick, easy and make a great base for powder.
So far, MAC Paintpots and Maybelline Color Tattoos have been my favorites.
I love cream eyeshadows. My daily look is a no-makeup makeup and the only eyeshadow I use is MAC Painterly paintpot. On days were I use a full eye makeup, I use cream eyeshadows both as a base for poder ones or as a main eyeshadow.
MUFE Aqua creams. I used to like Maybelline Color Tattoos but they dry up before I get a chance to use at least some of it up, the MUFE ones don’t. I have one that I’ve had for a while now and it still has the same consistency. Awesome.
Ooh, is this the famous video where you ran into trouble with the editing time? I’ll have to watch at home! 🙂 You already know my answer is None. Though, if you count using stick highlighter as a shadow, the answer is now One (Watt’s Up?). 🙂
I use three MAC paintpots a lot, and one Maybeline one. Painterly is definitely my most used, with Stormy Pink and Maybeline Bad to the Bronze as darker colors and Perky when I’m being super sweet.
I’d love to try these but still can’t justify the price 🙁

Never. I have oily lids. Even with high-end primers, cream shadows crease on me like crazy.
Color Tattoo doesn’t crease, but I find the texture like putty and very hard to get on the eye.
