Variety is the spice of life, right? I like to mix things up! A few pieces from here, a couple more from there…
I have my favorite brands for certain things (NARS for blushes, MAC for eyeshadows, Chanel for nail polishes), but I’m very nomadic when it comes to face products — foundations, powders, concealers — that kind of thing.
Sometimes I will stick to a single line for certain looks, like I’ll grab cheek, eye and lip products from Becca or Neutrogena when I want to wear something beachy and natural.
Or when I’m in a fancy-shmancy mood and want to get all dolled up, I’ll go all the way, from start to finish, with a high-end line like Chanel, Dior or Guerlain.
How about you? Do you mostly stick to a single makeup brand, or do you venture out?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I love to try make-up product from different brands. MAC is definitely my favorite brand.

I am a mixed bag. I have favorites from many brands.

I agree, I love variety. I like MAC because I think it’s good quality and the price isn’t to bad, plus I love the Back 2 Mac program. I am a sucker for gift with purchases, so I end up with a lot of clinique, Lancôme, and Estée Lauder. And I’ll take nail polish from anyone, I am a fiend!

I always have a variety of brands, there are just so many great ones.

Mostly one brand!!

There are times when I’m really feeling NARS or Tarte or theBalm so they own my face for a day. But I definitely mix and match on a regular basis. Except on my eyes. I almost always use the same brand eyeshadow together. It’s much easier to pick my inspiration shade and then stick with the palette it’s in than go through a bunch of them, ya know?

I bought the blush from this collection based on your review and I love it. Its so helpful when you include in your reviews what skin tones the product would work best for

Mostly different brands. As a MUA it’s impossible for me to stick to one brand.

These days I’m mixing pretty much every day since I’m still in my no makeup makeup look period. Easy summer look!

I’m an equal opportunity makeup junkie–I am all over the place when it comes to brands! With that said, the three brands that I am consistently the most drawn to are Giorgio Armani, YSL, and Dior.
Danielle says
I definitely use a lot of different brands, but I can also get stuck in a MAC rut haha.
Cierra says
I have a very eclectic makeup bag, from cheap to expensive. But when it comes to nail polish, China Glaze is the only option!

I seem to stick with a few main brands that I have favourite items from.. but I brand out for a single product or two from higher end brands. In the last year or so I have definitely added new brands to my collection and am always interested in learning about other brands.

I for the most part only stick to Too Faced. I’ve tried to venture out but Too Faced in my opinion makes the best palettes. I occasionally like to buy Tarte and Lorac products but their colors just don’t compare to Too Faced.

I love makeup from many brands, from drugstore to luxury.
Drugstore picks: Maybelline, Cover Girl, Milani, and Physician’s Formula have had the best products for face, eyes, and mascara. I also have bought stuff from Rimmel and Revlon that I am a fan of. My fave drugstore brand from Ulta is NYX – so many of their products are amazing!
Luxury: Urban Decay is a huge fave, their 24/7 liners are some of the best. I also love Nars, Dior, Smashbox, Stila, Tarte, Guerlain, Kat Von D, MAC, and Laura Mercier.
Target: Sonia Kashuk has turned out some amazing products, also love Pixi for the shadow stick in Peach Pave, and an eyeliner I got from them.
I’m probably forgetting one or 2 of my faves, but I do love a mix and will often wear a drugstore shadow with a luxury liner and vice versa. As for anti aging stuff, can’t go wrong with RoC, Garnier, or Neutrogena.

I am a total Indiana Jones when it comes to picking make-up brands, I am very adventurous! There are a few brands like MAC and Smashbox that I have a lot of stuff from, but in general my make-up stash consists of a lot of different things.

I go through phases. If I find something i really like, i will start to buy lots of stuff from the brand. It started with too faced, then sephora baked products, then benefit, NYX, tarte, physicians formula. I tend to pull my favorites from each brand on a daily basis (neutrogena lippies, urban decay eye makeup, physicians formula bronzer), but i will still go on big buying binges of one brand or another. Especially if there is a good drug store sale. I end up giving half of it to my little sister in law, but it’s worth it to find those products you really love.

I used to buy only Mac like it was a religious obligation, but in the last few years, I’ve become a little disenchanted with them and branched out into other brands. Now there are at least half a dozen that I buy from regularly and I’m always curious to try new ones.

The only brand I stuck to when I was younger was Clinique. That’s certainly no longer true bc their foundations will either oxidize or not be the right color on me. I have more individual product loyalty than I do brand loyalty. I will re-purchase things I love. There are certain brands I keep a closer eye on than others but that’s it.
I mean, if I had to, there are brands out there I can stick solely to and still be able to make do but competition motivates companies to better themselves.

I’m all over the place. I stick with one brand for a particular need, because the make the best product in that area. My foundations are make up forever, eye shadows are lorac/urban decay, concealers are Laura mercer, lipsticks are mac, powders and highlighters from nars. With that said, I’ll go all other the map color wise, but stick with the same brands for what I buy. When I like a formula, I stick with it.

For makeup, I’m a faithless slut; I own makeup that encompass luxury (Christian Dior, YSL) and drugstore (Maybelline, Cover Girl), and everything in between. For skincare, I’m very monogamous: Paula’s Choice, all the way!

I own a lot of stuff by a lot of brands! I have favorites, like you – Chanel mascara, LORAC eyeshadows, theBalm powder blush, but I like to switch it up.
It veers more toward high end lately – I used to use quite a few drugstore products, but now I’m finding a lot of higher end products I love. I still love my L’Oreal Infallible Gel liner though, that stuff is awesome, and Maybelline Line Stiletto liquid liner is great.
Face makeup is hard – I’ll basically buy whatever’s pale enough because my options are limited! I bought the lightest shade of Urban Decay Naked Skin recently, and I still feel like it’s a little dark/pink. The only foundations I find that really match me are MUFE Mat Velvet + in 15 and Missha Real Signature BB cream in 13. My concealers are quite cheap – I like Maybelline Dream Lumi for undereyes, and Coastal Scents Camo Quads for blemishes.

I’m pretty limited on what I can use due to a combination of sensitive skin, multiple allergies, and pallor you could lose in the snow. On the plus side, now that I’ve got my hair bleached platinum, I’ve got the cleanest slate for makeup experimentation EVER.
Under my makeup, I have to wear heavy-duty mineral sunblock due to UV sensitivity, and I make my own for Reasons. I treat it like an all-over concealer, and so I powder it before applying my foundation. Fave powder is Bobbi Brown in White, but I also like several powders from Aromaleigh, and I want to try a couple from SoBe Botanicals. When I’m in the mood for it, I use a pale gray-green powder instead of a translucent white or clear, and it makes me look like a Nagel painting!
Foundation is always, always a Bobbi Brown. Her Alabaster is the only shade I’ve found pale enough for my skin, and it doesn’t break me out, so YAY! Sometimes I powder over it, sometimes I don’t. Depends how much sleep I got the night before. Fortunately, my sunblock takes the place of under-eye concealer.
Eyeliner is Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner. I have Black Ink, Graphite Shimmer, Chocolate Shimmer, and Violet Ink, and plan to get Forest Shimmer next. (My eyes are an unusually vivid green. Think MAC’s Bio Green eyeshadow in subdued lighting.) Bobbi’s mascara, too, though I think on my next tube I’ll go from No Smudge to Lash Glamour. I got a travel-size tube of that one, and it looks more natural on me.
Lips are a bit of a wild card. I wear whatever I can tolerate. MAC, Bobbi, SoBe Bot, SweetsNThings (Rhea mostly makes THE most amazing soaps and such), the odd drugstore brand. Next one I want to try is Obsessive Compulsive–in Tarred. Yay, black lips all October! And orange cheeks with black, yellow, and orange eyes, of course. *evil grin*
I’m pretty attached to indy mineral makeup for most other things. My favorite for personal reasons is Sweet Libertine. Sarah, the owner, has some serious health issues, so it can take a long time for things to ship sometimes, but the product is so worth it. I also love Aromaleigh and SoBe Botanicals. I’m always open to pointers to sensitive skin-friendly indy makeup producers, so if anyone’s got a heads up, give me a shout. 🙂

I like experimenting with loads of brands, but there are certain brands and products I’m gonna go back to. For example, Rimmel and Catrice for blushes, Catrice for glosses, Maybelline for the cream shadows, Manhattan for the lipsticks, Catrice for concealer, Rimmel and Manhattan for powder…

I remember when I first started wearing makeup, it was MAC or bust. I used to look down on drugstore brands and I wouldn’t even walk into Sephora cause they didn’t sell MAC. What a snob! Now I definitely am open to all brands & especially love getting drug store dupes of high end products!

I love trying different brands. I seldom use the same products twice unless it’s skincare and really works for me.
Lissa says
I’ll try anything! I love a bunch of brands, and I will definitely stray outside of my favorites to try something new and maybe find new favorites!
