It may be a few years old, but Urban Decay’s Naked Palette and I still roll deep.
I feel like it’s just one of those palettes, you know? — the great ones, where you can pretty much take any two of its colors, wear ’em together, and not go wrong.
And the look possibilities are practically limitless!
Sometimes from across a crowded room, it’s easy to miss Naked’s neutral colors, but for real life wear, it’s tough to beat, whether you’re a responsible cubicle cutie or a video vixen.
What’s your “one” — the eyeshadow palette that never lets you down? Is it a Chanel quad, a drugstore mega-palette, a build-your-own? Which one do you reach for most?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Happy hump day. 🙂

Hi Karen,
Though I read your blog everyday(several times),it’s been super long since I last commented !
Off topic, I’m sorry but I have a very important question ! I am travelling next week. I live in India and I’m visiting the UK. I am not sure how to pack ?
I do not want to put my make up in the check in luggage, I can’t bear to be parted with it.
I do have loads of skincare samples I plan to carry along with loads of make up again (lipsticks arrgh)
To give you an idea, I usually need sunscreen/gel moisturizer(both from clinique,I have small sizes). I carry about 9 lip products minumum (atrocious I know), about three eyeshadow palettes (usually EB Cosmic Bliss/Becca Galactica Quad/RBR trios and MAC paintpot, plus eyeliners anout 3. A Clinique lid smoothie. Two small sample jars containing RBR/Becca Highlighters, EB Blush, Mascara, NUDE oil small size, Loose Powder from Shiseido.
That’s a lot but I do want about that much in my carry on luggage.
Any suggestions ?

theBalm Nude ‘Tude over and over again. I always try to reach for something else because I feel guilty for sticking to one palette. Just this morning I thought, “Surely I can use a duo instead….” Nope. I’m rocking Nude ‘Tude again.
modernfoppery says
Nude ‘Tude is my go-to palette, too! I don’t use more than four of the colors regularly, though–a few of them are just too warm for my skintone.
Sassa says
Honestly, the palettes that I get the most use from are two inexpensive drugstore items – Revlon Custom Eyes in Naturally Glamorous and Wet and Wild Comfort Zone. I have other, more expensive palettes that I use maybe once or twice a week, but those two are the workhorses of my collection.
Trisha says
Lately, I’ve been using a lot of the Sigma Beauty Creme de Couture palette, but that’s because it’s new and I have a bit of a crush on it.
I got this huge 120 eye shadow palette on ebay a million years ago and I STILL use it. BH Cosmetics sells it in their shop now.
Giulia says
Hi Karen! I love the Naked Palette, but I must say that I prefere the Theodora palette from UD! It has a great combination of colours. Kisses!

Laura Mercier Artist’s Palette. I am hoping LM will offer up a similar one this year at Sephora, because I have hit pan on some already.
sheryl says
There is a new LM Artist’s palette on the Sephora website.
My most used palettes lately have been Mally’s In the Buff and Bare Minerals Power Neutrals.
Lorraine says
oooh! thanks for the tip. It looks yummy- new shades, too- and a couple that I have had my eye on. This set is a great value, sure to sell out like last year’s. Sephora, here I come!
Chris25 says
NYX Nude on Nude Natural Palette. I bought it years ago and it’s still one of the best palettes I ever tried.
Danielle says
I also love my Urban Decay Naked palette, but I think my favorites are my MAC palettes.
Lila says
I love my LORAC GLOgetter palette but other than that, I reach for my custom made Coastal Scents palette pretty frequently. It’s filled with bright, satin shades of turquoise, blue, gold and purple so perfect when I want a bit of color!
Ruchita says
Aww, sleepy Tabs. What an angel. 🙂
I’m all about neutrals so I’m always using my UD Naked or Too Faced Natural Eye palettes.
Kiss & Make-up says
Aw, Tabsie 🙂 Recently I have been using the new Smashbox Fade To Black Fade In palette a lot. Such gorgeous fall shades!
Budziak says
My absolute favorite are theBalm’s Shady Lady palettes. They’re the best (and they have a new 4th palette!) Buttery & smooth with great pigmentation, I love them and reach for them more often than any other eye shadows. I got mine in the 3 for 1 sale.
Charisma says
UD Naked 2 Palette and TheBalm Meet Matte nude.
Jill says
Hello Kitty! Tabs is so cute. Our cat Tippi has been with us one year today. Hooray! Do you like Naked 2 as much? I was having a look at that one at Sephora, but it’s so expensive. I have to think about it some more. I have been using my Chanel ‘Lotus’ eyeshadow so much, it is the best wearable subtle shimmery pale shadow I have ever used. I’ve been pairing it with Benefit’s Eye Bright stick. The two of them really work for me. XO, Jill
Sasha says
Aww, that’s so cute, Happy Tippi anniversary! 🙂
Natalye says
For work I always grab the Lorac Pro to Go Eye/Cheek palette
SirenPrincess says
Can we make my answer “any Bobbi Brown palette”? I am addicted to Bobbi palettes and do tend to mix it up a lot from day to day, but my Bobbi palettes always are my favorites. My current favorite is … the Rich Chocolate palette with the Bobbi and Katie palette close behind. Those are both newer palettes, though. My old favorite was a smaller Bobbi Palette with similar neutral everyday colors. It had bone, naked, velvet plum, and espresso. The rich chocolate has bone and stone, which are my two favorite Bobbi colors. But I love my Navy and Nude palette too. So, yeah, anything Bobbi Brown 🙂
Susan says
Yay on the Bobbi palettes! I love the Velvet Plum one too; I also have the Ultra Nude & a Best of Chocolate one from QVC, both of which I use all the time.
Iliana says
My most used palettes at the moment are my Naked Basics and my Lorac Pro, what can I say, I’m a neutral kind of girl 😀
Maria says
I love my heBalm Nude‘Tude palette and Big Beautifull Eyes by Benefit.
Sidney says
I’d have to say my Urban Decay Naked Basics all the way. I’m relatively new to the world of eye shadows.
Kica says
When I first started to get into eyeshadows after a YEARS long makeup hiatus, this was my first e/s pallette.
Jen says
The LORAC Pro palette is my current go to, but it changes frequently!
Brianna says
UD’s Naked Basics!! I used it almost daily when it first came out and it is still pretty much my go-to palette. Lately I have been using my original Naked palette, but even so I’ve pretty much just been using Naked and Buck, which might as well be their own mini Naked Basics! lol. Clearly I am a lover of matte browns.
Natasha says
UD’s Naked Basics, too! And then I might add a pop of bright eyeliner… but the basics are definitely my go-to shades for most days!
Chelsea says
LORAC Femme Fatale and my Sephora Blinged palettes!
Chelsea says
The Sephora Blinged Palette was most of my eyeshadow look for my wedding actually, along with a couple individual LORAC shadows.
Kica says
The Sonia Kashuk all matte all neutral pallette.
Denise S. says
I own a million eye shadow palettes but the Naked palette is my one of my all time favorites. It’s so versatile!
Kylie says
Definitely the Too Faced Natural paletter. Love the shimmer– lots of colors that work day or night.
Nati says
Hi Karen! My go-to palette is Chanel Premier Régard Quad, honestly I have used it almost everyday for the past year! It has the shades I love the most concentrated in one palette that can take me from office to evening and never let me down.
xx
Daya says
Hmm..it’s a toss-up between my UD Book of Shadows 4 and MAC’s purple palette from a couple Christmas’ ago.
Amanda says
Same! Naked! Or a custom palette I put together from Bobbi Brown. But mostly
Naked.
Agata says
I use all my Urban Decay palettes on regular basis. I think Naked 2 I use the most, it’s perfect for any look and any occasion.
Jennis says
Love your site. I came on here to look at the Vice 2 swatches and came across this post. I also use Naked 1 palette. It’s with me almost 24/7. You can create so many looks from it and I also use Buck to fill in my eyebrows.
Karine says
Nars Douceurs de Paris! Just amazing 🙂
Sasha says
I actually use my own pallet of MAC naturals, with a couple of subtly sparkley ones thrown in for good measure! Bronze & Sketch are my most used for evenings out
Liz says
Naked 1 and Kevyn Aucoin Essential Eyeshadow Set #4
Amber says
Definitely UD Naked Basics! It’s perfect for an everyday eye, and it has the right color for my brows, too. I even use the lightest color as my highlighter! Love the Naked Basics palette so so much.
Kris says
I’m still using my first NAKED palette – the original one. I see other palettes, but I usually decide that I have the same colors in NAKED. Also love Stila In the Garden – fun colors, but really wearable. Dior Incognito is a great classic neutral palette – good for us light-skinned.
Natalie says
I love my Naked palette most, boring, I know. But its a staple!
Rikki Poynter says
I really don’t stick with just one palette.
Noon says
Def Naked for me as well, Smog is my all-time favorite eyeshadow, it’s one I can thrown on and KNOW I look good in.
80schicwithglasses says
I’ve been reaching for a MAC quad that I made about 4 years ago. Saddle for my lid, Carbon for lower lash line and sometimes liner, Era for highlight and Knight Divine for outer v and sometimes lower lash line also. I love grays (although for my brown eyes I can get away with pretty much any color), but something about this quad I always come back to. I have no clue why I buy other palettes or shadows because I’ve repurchased these shadows and never get enough of them.
Maggie says
Yup, Naked 1 for sure.
Bella says
It’s a toss-up between Nars And God Created the Woman and Nars Pleasures of Paris. I have never worn either my UD Naked or Naked 2 palettes outside the house. Those were total dud purchases for me.
Rachel P says
For me (lately anyhow), it’s been the Kat Von D True Romance Palette in Ladybird. It’s a totally matte palette, which I use to do the footwork, creating the base, shapes, and shadows. Then I’ll pick a shimmery or highlighting color (if need be) from another palette, if I want something a little brighter! It’s not as everyday/nude as the Naked or Unzipped palettes, but there are definitely neutral shades in there, alongside the more vampy/interesting ones.
StrayCat says
My desert island palette would be Dior #705 Beige Massai. The most gorgeous wearable colors every offered in a palette! It’s SO fantastic Dior discontinued it. Ya…You know it’s fantastic when the company discontinues something….ha! They always do. Anyho, I also love Chanel’s Quatuor Boutons De Chanel, which I believe was a Nordstrom exclusive. Very natural nudes. Great with a black winged liner and red lips. Also like a duo by Chanel #77 Cristal and Dusk which is white and purply gray. And we can’t forget Bobbi Brown. I have probably 20 singes and several palettes. Two favs are the Pink Face Palette and the Stonewashed Nudes palette. And for a very quick wash of color I like Nars Corfu. I’ve looked at the UD Naked Palettes but seriously eyeshadow is the LAST thing I need!
Scarlet says
UD’s Naked is a well used palette in this house! Together with TF Naked Eye and Natural Eye. It really depends on the season though, during summer I’ll use UD’s ammo & fun palettes more.
Liz says
Lorac Pro palette rocks. Think it’s best value, colors, pigment, texture.
Kate says
Although I love the Naked palette, my favorite neutral palette is the Two Faced Natural Eye palette from Sephora. For a little bit of color, I use my BH Cosmetics malibu palette (http://www.bhcosmetics.com/products/eyes/bh-malibu-palette) because it has a nice combination of color and neutrals. 🙂
