So…what is the Monday Poll?
Well, it isn’t exactly a poll. It’s more of a constantly evolving (devolving?), somewhat random list of questions I’ve been putting out to readers every Monday morning for the past NINE (!) years. (It’s like a kickstart for your brain.) I’ve always enjoyed reading your answers in the comments, and I hope you enjoy reading mine. 🙂
1. What was the last really interesting conversation you had?
It was on Saturday with my friend Alis at Fox + Stone salon. While coloring my hair and cutting my bangs, she dropped some big news on me. She was finally moving to Vegas where her fiancé lives, which she’d been planning for and talking about for a long time, and she was literally doing it that weekend! Like, they had just packed up the U-Haul and were hitting the road the second she finished cutting my hair.
We’ve known each other for years now, and we talked about how when you’re younger, it’s easier to make bold moves because you’re used to things changing in your life. It seems like from one year to the next, or from one month to the next, you have to get used to your daily patterns changing, and your life changing, but as you move into your 30s and 40s and beyond, it becomes harder to make those kinds of big changes, for a variety of reasons.
But she was finally doing it! I mean, of course I’m gonna miss her because she’s my friend, but she also gets my hair, and it’s hard to find people you can trust who also get your hair.
2. What’s a sound that reminds you of home?
There’s a church a few blocks from here with church bells that sound twice a day — once at noon and once at six o’clock — and no matter where I am in the house, whether it’s in my office or downstairs in the living room, I can always hear those church bells.
So whenever I hear church bells, it reminds me of home.
3. Have you ever felt like an outsider?
Oh, sure. And it’s never fun. One long stretch was when I was a senior in college and living with roommates. We were all girls, and I’d previously gotten along with them, but people change, and we started doing our own things apart. I didn’t really hang out with them as much as I used to, but they kept getting closer to each other. I really got to feeling like the outsider, and I basically lived like that for a year.
I’ve also felt like an outsider at some beauty events, for sure. There always the super glamorous girls with their clicks of friends, but I just kind of do my own thing and try to make friends along the way.
4. Are you more of a back sleeper, a tummy sleeper or a side sleeper?
I usually fall asleep on my back and stay that way for most of the night until morning, when I’m half awake or half asleep, and I wiggle around and sleep on either my side or my stomach.
So, all three. 🙂
5. Walk me through how you usually style your hair.
If you’re one of those people who can just step out of the shower and comb or brush your hair, can I just say that I’m so jealous? — because my process is entirely too complicated.
It starts right after I wash and condition my hair. First, I towel dry it, then grab a flat brush and my really, really old first-gen T3 hairdryer. Then, I blow dry my bangs straight, because if I don’t do it right after I get out of the shower, they dry funny, poof up and look really ridiculous.
So, I do that, then run the brush through the rest of my hair and let it air dry, and I usually do this at night because I’m a night shower-er.
The next morning, I run the brush through my hair again to take out any knots. Then, I take a GHD curling iron, which are kind of expensive, but I think they’re really and truly the best, and I separate and part my hair into sections.
I part it right down the middle in the back, and then I do the left side first, section by section, curling the pieces, and then the right side. When it’s all done, I run my fingers through it and apply a little bit of styling cream or styling oil. Today I used the Shu Uemura oil from the mid-shaft to the ends to smooth down any frizzies.
Break in the storm
After a few days of pretty heavy rain, it looks like a brief break in the storm today, so I’m looking forward to getting some fresh air outside on a quick walk around the circle with Connor Claire.
Wherever you are, I hope you’re able to get outside for a little bit.
It’s Monday again and, as usual, I feel overwhelmed by my to-do list.
Big sigh…
But we can do this. I know we can. Have a great day today, my friend, and I’ll try to have one too. 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Here are the questions to copy and paste…
1. What was the last really interesting conversation you had?
2. What’s a sound that reminds you of home?
3. Have you ever felt like an outsider?
4. Are you more of a back sleeper, tummy sleeper or side sleeper?
5. Walk me through how you usually style your hair.

1.What was the last really interesting conversation you had?: I think it was with my friend Asia. We were discussing power dynamics in social justice circles.
2. What’s a sound that reminds you of home?: Spanish music blasting from a bodega.
3. Have you ever felt like an outsider? All my life.
4. Are you more of a back sleeper, tummy sleeper or side sleeper?: Side sleeper. I have sleep apnea and sleeping on my side makes me feel less like I am suffocating.
5. Walk me through how you usually style your hair.: I rub Josie Maran Argan Oil Hair Serum through damp hair, then I clip it up. Twenty minutes later (30 if it’s winter) I unclip it and gently comb out the tangles. The serum works its magic on my 2C hair and I get beautiful waves/curls.

2. What’s a sound that reminds you of home?
I only wanted to answer this one because it’s…peculiar. The sound of peacocks will always remind me of my parents’ home. They live in a valley where there was a nearby bird park/sanctuary. Even after the bird park closed down, I’m guessing some of the peacocks must have escaped into the nearby bamboo forest because we could still hear them. If you’ve never heard a peacock call, it’s sorta like a woman screaming. Yeah…unnerving.

Happy Monday!!! 🙂
1. What was the last really interesting conversation you had? You’re really making me think, today! I’m ashamed to say I don’t have too many interesting conversations. I was happy to run into an old friend at church this weekend whom I’d heard had some bad news, health wise. It was good to catch up and compare notes and just basically dole out some hugs and support/encouragement. She’s also a medical professional and was telling me about some new treatments so it had the added benefit of being educational.
2. What’s a sound that reminds you of home? Oh, geesh. I can’t think of a good one so I’ll say “kids yelling to one another through Xbox headphones”. That’s probably the most prevalent noise in our home!
3. Have you ever felt like an outsider? Sure. As you say, I think everyone has and it’s always awful. I think the only thing worse is realizing that you’re making someone else feel that way (with my group of friends, almost everything is an “inside joke” or leads to one – we often get carried away and then realize we need to explain the story to “new” people).
4. Are you more of a back sleeper, tummy sleeper or side sleeper? I think I’m equally back and side. I used to be tummy forever, before I was pregnant for the boys. But I never sleep on my tummy now.
5. Walk me through how you usually style your hair. You don’t want tips from me! I was just thinking how much I hate my bangs this AM. I am a morning showerer so I towel dry, do all my makeup and then comb through my hair with a wide toothed comb, put a bit of gel in the bangs area and spritz the rest with a curl spray (non crunchifying). Then I blow dry the top/front only with a round brush and hair spray. The rest air dries.

1. What was the last really interesting conversation you had?
Hmmm… I’m gonna have to go with one that I had with my cousin who came over from NorCal down to SoCal a while back for a quick business trip and we were talking about vacay places out there like Lake Tahoe and such. I guess more than the actual conversation, it was the catching up that was more interesting because we used to be closer when we were younger and it was after a long time that we were having a one on one conversation.
2. What’s a sound that reminds you of home?
Definitely a rooster crowing. That’s a sound that I don’t hear often and when I do, it immediately reminds me of South India.
3. Have you ever felt like an outsider?
Of course – to this day. I guess now more than ever, but I’ve felt like one even back home.
4. Are you more of a back sleeper, tummy sleeper or side sleeper?
I prefer sleeping on my back, especially since I’ve learned that it’s over-all healthier to sleep that way but since I co-sleep with my daughter, she keeps insisting that I lie with my side turned towards her so that’s how I end up going to sleep most of the time.
5. Walk me through how you usually style your hair.
Ok, ready? I throw it up in my towel for as long as I can so that it soaks up most of the water from my hair. Then, after taking it down, run some Living Proof Style Extender through it and blow-dry the hair closest to my head on low. When I’m done I put some serum in it like Wella Luxe Oil and let air do the rest. That’s it. I definitely need to up my hair game, but I have so much of it, doing anything seems like so much work that I just end up throwing it in a pony most of the time.
laura says
1. What was the last really interesting conversation you had? The mere fact that I can’t answer this question is pretty sad.
2. What’s a sound that reminds you of home? The sound of waves.
3. Have you ever felt like an outsider? SO MANY TIMES. And in many different situations and contexts too. But I am ok with that. I like being like nobody else.
4. Are you more of a back sleeper, tummy sleeper or side sleeper? A total side sleeper here. But when I get on my tummy I fall asleep easier.
5. Walk me through how you usually style your hair. Well I wash it, then blow dry, comb, and straighten it with a ghd straightener. Pretty easy routine.
Leah G. says
1. What was the last really interesting conversation you had? The last time I chatted with my cousin. We had a great ‘catch up’ phone call. 🙂
2. What’s a sound that reminds you of home? The wind in the pine trees (or in the forest).
3. Have you ever felt like an outsider? I’ve had a few prior jobs where I felt like I just did not fit in. The one I have had for over 6.5 years is a good fit though!
4. Are you more of a back sleeper, tummy sleeper or side sleeper? Stomach sleeper. Although I can sleep on my right side as well.
5. Walk me through how you usually style your hair. On days that I wash it I put in mousse and let it air dry (I have really curly hair). Every other day I wet it slightly and put in Aveeda Be Curly (that allows me to wear it down on days I don’t wash it). 🙂
Erin says
1. What was the last really interesting conversation you had?
Interesting? Not sure. The last convo I had was with a pet insurance sales person. Yeah, I’m crazy 🙂
2. What’s a sound that reminds you of home?
Traffic! Helllloooo California! Oh and my whole family warning you of the fog anytime it’s the least bit foggy.
3. Have you ever felt like an outsider?
My whole life.
4. Are you more of a back sleeper, tummy sleeper or side sleeper?
Back and sides, mostly sides.
5. Walk me through how you usually style your hair.
Air dried! I don’t do much. I will pony, bun, or occasionally simple braids. I’m low fi!
Savannah says
1. What was the last really interesting conversation you had?
I went to drop off my super late Christmas present to my friend (but not too super late if you celebrate Ukrainian Christmas like us haha). I recently got engaged, so we were talking about weddings.
2. What’s a sound that reminds you of home?
Honestly, I can’t really think of one.
3. Have you ever felt like an outsider?
Constantly. And it sucks occasionally, but I don’t think it’s all that bad.
4. Are you more of a back sleeper, tummy sleeper or side sleeper?
Side, fetal position sleeper.
5. Walk me through how you usually style your hair
Depends on what I’m doing with it, because I like to have natural/no product days. But, the one thing I always do is blow dry my hair dry. I used to air dry my hair, but I found it would dry silly sometimes and get greasy looking quicker. That’s the only constant in terms of my hair.
Sara says
1. What was the last really interesting conversation you had?
I honestly can’t think of anything haha the only person I talk to most of the time is my 8 month old?
2. What’s a sound that reminds you of home?
You mention of church bells made me think of my home growing up. Though I haven’t lived there for a few years now, I remember the church around the corner and how I could hear the bells ring every day. I used to love that.
3. Have you ever felt like an outsider?
Oh yea definitely. Many times. Growing up
I really shy so i felt like an outsider a lot of the time.
4. Are you more of a back sleeper, tummy sleeper or side sleeper?
Side/stomach sleeper.
5. Walk me through how you usually style your hair.
I just blow dry it without really styling it or anything. My hair is really fine and straight but I have a lot of it. I used to style it more. After blow drying I would use a curling iron for some loose waves.
Happy Monday Karen! We’ve been stuck inside all weekend we got a ton of snow over here! Hope you have a wonderful week:) Have you thought about what you’re doing for Connor’s 1st birthday yet? Anything big?!
Suzanne C says
1. What was the last really interesting conversation you had?
A few weeks ago, my BFF and I had a catch-up call. Things had been so crazy that we hadn’t talked lately. I thought we had been on the phone for an hour or so- we had been talking for 4 hours!
2. What’s a sound that reminds you of home?
Certain songs. My mom was a SAHM and when she worked around the house, she put on her records and sang along.
3. Have you ever felt like an outsider?
When do I not?
4. Are you more of a back sleeper, tummy sleeper or side sleeper?
I am all over the place. Every morning, my bed looks like it blew up.
5. Walk me through how you usually style your hair.
Wash, condition, comb, air dry, ponytail. I’m a low-maintenance kind of girl. The conditioning part takes a while, though, because my hair is super thick.
Karen says
Those four-hour calls are the best. Isn’t it wonderful how times stands still when you’re with your dearest friends? I love that!
P.S. I have thick hair too. The conditioning struggle is so real! It takes me forever to rinse it out.
Trude says
1. What was the last really interesting conversation you had?
Last weekend with a friend of mine and my husband. Love talking about the “difference” between men and women! 🙂
2. What’s a sound that reminds you of home?
Lately it’s the sound of the heater kicking on. Winter is in full effect here in Reno!
3. Have you ever felt like an outsider?
Absolutely. I was one of the smart kids in school and often had trouble relating to certain groups. Luckily I didn’t with others!
4. Are you more of a back sleeper, tummy sleeper or side sleeper?
Side sleeper for sure, switching off throughout the night.
5. Walk me through how you usually style your hair.
When I wash it, I usually do a blowout unless it’s at night and I’m feeling lazy. Then the next day it’s dry shampoo and either put it up or leave it, depending on how hard I slept. 😉
Karen says
Seriously dry shampoo is the best thing ever. I wish I had known about it back in the ’90s! I could’ve saved so much time wrestling with my hair.
Did you guys get snow over the weekend? A major storm blew through the Bay Area.
Trude says
I know, right?? I’ve stockpiled Batiste Bare, because it’s amazing and one of the few that I can stand the smell of. That and a little Aveda Dry Remedy oil on the ends and I’m good to go. 🙂
We got rain that froze and then it snowed 4 inches on top of that overnight Wednesday! Then it snowed on and off all day Thursday and Friday. Finally turned to rain that didn’t stop all weekend, and now the river is flooding (luckily nowhere near me). Craziness!
Karen says
We had flooding here too. Not in my town but right where I used to live. We had a break in the storm today, thankfully. I love the sound of the rain, and I know we need it, but I’m already ready for spring. 😀
Stay warm and dry! And be careful when you’re driving.
Tatiana says
1. What was the last really interesting conversation you had? Uhm, I’m embarrassed to say I can’t remember.
2. What’s a sound that reminds you of home? I live near a commuter train line and about two blocks away from the city park. So the sounds of commuter train horns and children laughing with delight and the sounds of swim meets at the pool (starter horn and then people cheering).
3. Have you ever felt like an outsider? Yes, growing up in the midwest. I was so different from my peers and could not wait to move to NYC. Felt like an outsider in NYC because I wasn’t making a ton of money and I wasn’t connected or fashionable. Moved to SF and felt like an outsider because I was still used to doing things like a NYer. I always appreciate people like my old skating coach, who try to make everyone feel welcome and part of the group.
4. Are you more of a back sleeper, tummy sleeper or side sleeper? Except for my tummy I’m an all over sleeper.
5. Walk me through how you usually style your hair. Wash it with a cream shampoo because bubbles are just so drying. Condition if it needs it. Towel dry some of the dampness. And something for volume and lift because I have the finest hair on the planet. Blow dry with my T3, first with my head upside down to get lift at the roots then upright to get the shape I like. Ten minutes later it usually looks like I walked through a windstorm. It’s a rare day my hair looks styled nicely, usually only when a stylist blow dries it for me.
Karen says
I loved your answer to the second question. Those are all beautiful, lively sounds! Happy Monday!
Fran says
1. What was the last really interesting conversation you had?
My son likes to give me mini-lectures on various events in history, and that often gets us into some interesting discussions. Right now he’s reading a thousand-page tome on the Austro-Hungarian empire…
2. What’s a sound that reminds you of home?
The guinea pigs squealing “Reep! Reep! Reep!”
3. Have you ever felt like an outsider?
All through my childhood and adolescence, frequently in my early adulthood… now I guess I’m just used to it, and it doesn’t really bother me any more. I’m kind of an egghead who, for some reason, mostly hangs out with non-eggheads.
4. Are you more of a back sleeper, tummy sleeper or side sleeper?
I fall asleep on my side, frequently roll onto my back while sleeping.
5. Walk me through how you usually style your hair.
After washing, conditioning, and detangling hair, remove excess water with two microfiber hair turbans, one following the other. Then put on products: always some Living Proof Split End Mender and Shu Umera Wonder Worker. Then, if I want to bring out the bit of wave that I have, I rub a big ball of IGK Sunday Funday foam between my hands and rub it on the lengths and ends and let air-dry, or, if the day is humid, diffuser-dry. (My hair is very non-porous as well as long, and can take more than 24 hours to air-dry on a really humid day.) For smooth, sleek, and silky hair, I’ll use some Living Proof no frizz styling cream or spray. I section at least in two, and blow dry with my Dyson, and, as I go along, add a couple drops of the Satin Hair Serum on the very ends and a couple pumps of the no frizz Nourishing Oil on the lengths as needed if my hair tries to turn itself into a giant puffball. Once it’s 100% dry, I spray liberally with the LP no frizz humidity shield spray.
Even when I wear my hair loose, I usually pull it back from my face. It’s so tangle-prone (and long — tail-bone length) that I don’t wear it loose that often. Most days, I wear it in some kind of side braid or fancy pony tail, or use a hair fork or stick to pull it back in a twist that ends in a short ponytail. Occasionally I put it in a topknot or side bun.
So far, I haven’t been able to get my hair to hold a curl, no matter what I do; it seems like it’s so heavy that curls and waves fall out in a couple of hours.
Karen says
Fran, and I thought my hair process was intense! WOW! Kudos. Do you do this every day?
Fran says
Good heavens, no! Twice a week, in the evening. Once a week is a major wash and condition (maybe even a pre-wash with coconut oil or Living Proof Night Cap), once is just freshening up with cleansing conditioner. When I was young and had oily hair that needed daily washing, I kept it short! Since my hair is so long, the ends are several years old and need lots of TLC. Hair that’s streaked with white only looks good long if it looks super-healthy; frizzy grey hair tends to be seen as ‘unkempt’, and I really like the white, don’t want to color it.
Gloria Yang says
1. What was the last really interesting conversation you had?
It was an email exchange with a friend who is moving away from LA. We went into various directions work-wise she can explore after she moves, etc etc. It was nice!
2. What’s a sound that reminds you of home?
Trickling water. My house has a fish pond in the front and a water fountain in the back. Most of the time I don’t notice the water sound, but when I do, I always check the faucet to make sure we didn’t leave it on by accident.
3. Have you ever felt like an outsider?
All the time! People who don’t know me that well think I’m a social butterfly, but I actually tend to feel like I’m encroaching on others. I’ve been like that my entire life. I try to be as welcoming when I can to others when I’m out and about so no one feels like an outsider around me.
4. Are you more of a back sleeper, tummy sleeper or side sleeper?
I sleep either sitting upright or on my side. Once for a work trip my coworker thought I was staring at her because not only as I in a sitting position, my eyes were slightly opened facing her. But she got used to it. LOL
5. Walk me through how you usually style your hair.
Mind you, I just cut off 10 inches of my hair, so it’s pretty darn easy to style. I shampoo, sometimes condition, but sometimes not. I towel dry my hair. If I’m air drying it, I’ll put in some leave-in treatment; an oil, spray or cream, whatever is nearest to my hand. Then I use my fingers to comb my bangs to a side swept shape.
If I’m “styling” it at all, I’ll put in a volumizing mousse or spray on damp hair. Dry it with my really pricey-but-so-worth-it Harry Josh dryer (takes 4 minutes to completely dry my hair). Once it’s about 70% dry, I’ll take an 1-inch round brush and pull straight my bangs and the rest of my hair. This gives me a very sleek, friendly, anchor woman hair.
Sometimes I go one step further and use a 1-inch barrel curling iron or wand, whatever I choose to plug in that moment, and randomly wrap sections of my hand onto the wand. Most of the time I just curl like, 6-8 strands of hair, mostly near the crown and the front. Once the hair cools down, I comb it out with my fingers, sometimes coated in a styling product, sometimes not, so it’s kind of messy and wild. I’ll then use some sort of texturizer to give it more texture and volume.
But to be completely honest, I air dry it 95% of the time. LOL
Karen says
You cracked me up when you said “anchor woman hair.” I thought of this lady who used to be on air here in the Bay Area, Terilyn Joe. Her hair was epic. Anyway, air drying is the best because it’s super easy and it keeps your hair healthy! I love my hair dryer but when I was using it often my hair got totally fried. Yay for air drying!
Do you guys have a lot of fish in the pond? I hope they have names!
Gloria Yang says
Just googled Terilyn Joe and yes, her hair was epic! Unfortunately mine isn’t that epic. It’s just very polished and polite looking. LOL
We used to have a ton of beautiful goldfish and mini Koi fish, but raccoons kept eating them. We’re still trying to figure out a humane way to keep raccoons away before we get anymore fish. I also don’t ever name fish because in 3rd or 4th grade, I killed so many by accident as part of my elementary school version of the Pavlov Dog’s experiment on conditioning.
Karen says
I mean… Her hair was like its own universe!
Oh, I’m the same way with fish, because my dad had an aquarium when I was in elementary (apparently this is an era where one can get traumatized by fish easily), and the poor fish kept moving onto “the rainbow bridge” just as I would get attached to them. Thank goodness my dad gave that aquarium up! He was terrible at fish keeping.
CL says
1. What was the last really interesting conversation you had?
Nothing comes to mind, other than my daily “rants” about the state of politics right now.
2. What’s a sound that reminds you of home? Used to be my dog’s barking. Alas, he died long ago.
3. Have you ever felt like an outsider? Pretty much all the time. It didn’t help that my family moved from one state to another when I was 9, then moved again when I was 12. The second move was into downright hostile territory.
4. Are you more of a back sleeper, tummy sleeper or side sleeper?
Since I have chronic acid reflux, I have to sleep on my left side almost all the time.
5. Walk me through how you usually style your hair. I wash it, then apply Biosilk Silk Therapy, then let it air dry.
Holly says
Happy Monday! I’m loving the looks I’m seeing in Instagram for this week’s challenge!
1. I am fortunate to have a handful of very close friends with whom I can have interesting conversations all the time, but the most recent one was this past Friday with my friend Angie in regards to her making the choice to cut ties with a number of toxic people in her life. Not an easy thing to do and yet it’s very important for one’s mental health.
2. The NPR Morning Edition theme music. My dad listened to NPR all day long and it reminds me of him.
3. Until the past couple of years, I have always felt like an outsider. I’ve become more comfortable and confident recently as I’ve discovered just how introverted and empathic I am. There are still times that I feel like the odd one out, though, as I’m unmarried, childless woman and all of my siblings, cousins, and the vast majority of my friends are married with children.
4. Stomach sleeper all the way.
5. My hair care routine is pretty basic: daily wash with either a volumizing or a scalp care shampoo (oily, fine but thick hair); towel dry; a few spritzes of a volumizing mousse and if it’s really dry out, some anti-frizz product on the ends so I don’t “static” out.
Susan C. says
1. What was the last really interesting conversation you had?
Mom and I shared a long conversation around Christmas, about our ancestors and how each subsequent generation has enjoyed better opportunities for education and jobs. Some of my ancestors had labored in coal mines, and others had only been educated through the fourth grade. Thankfully, times have changed.
2. What’s a sound that reminds you of home?
Oddly, the sound of eggs being scrambled in a glass measuring cup. It’s just a homey kind of sound.
3. Have you ever felt like an outsider?
Frequently. High school was especially painful; I used to sneak into the library to read and eat my lunch because I had nobody to sit with. Since then, I’ve realized my tribe is out there, it’s just a matter of finding my people. I’ve also become much more comfortable just doing my own thing, by myself.
4. Are you more of a back sleeper, tummy sleeper or side sleeper?
I start on my back, switch to my right side, then finally my left. Rinse and repeat as necessary!
5. Walk me through how you usually style your hair.
Shampoo, condition only the ends. Blot with a towel. Wait about ten minutes. Blow dry the bangs to curl them under a bit. If I’m blow drying, alternate between a paddle brush, vent brush and round brush to smooth the hair. Sometimes I use volumizing mousse or spray at the roots, sometimes I don’t. (It depends on how soon I think I will wash again; my hair is superfine so any product left behind weighs it down and feels sticky after a day or two.) Some days I just let my hair air dry — it naturally falls in beachy waves (thanks, menopause!?) — but I always blow dry the bangs; otherwise they look like a misplaced mustache from the 1970s.
Kiss & Make-up says
1. What was the last really interesting conversation you had?
My husband was telling me about the mechanics of sailing the other day. Pretty interesting stuff.
2. What’s a sound that reminds you of home?
I really couldn’t say… been thinking for a few minutes now but nothing comes to mind.
3. Have you ever felt like an outsider?
Always.
4. Are you more of a back sleeper, tummy sleeper or side sleeper?
Back.
5. Walk me through how you usually style your hair.
I don’t, lol. I just put it in a side braid most of the time.
Eileen says
1. What was the last really interesting conversation you had? My son and I were discussing the Dunning-Kruger effect in this age of “gurus” and internet experts.
2. What’s a sound that reminds you of home? Owls at night. I love listening to them.
3. Have you ever felt like an outsider? Sure, haven’t we all felt that way at some time?
4. Are you more of a back sleeper, tummy sleeper or side sleeper? I fall asleep on my back and start flipping from side to side in the early morning hours. I always nap on my back.
5. Walk me through how you usually style your hair. My waist length hair is wash and wear so it’s all about conditioning rather than styling. Shampoo, conditioner, and a coconut oil mask 1-2 times a month works for me. Most days I simply let it air dry and wear it down but I also like to pin it up, braid it, wear it in messy buns, more intricate chignons, etc.
