You might be wondering, “So what in tarnation is this Monday Poll thing anyway!?”
Well, it isn’t exactly a poll. It’s more of a constantly evolving (devolving?), somewhat random list of questions I’ve been putting out to readers every Monday morning for the past seven years. (It’s like a kickstart for your brain.) I’ve always enjoyed reading your answers in the comments, and I hope you enjoy reading mine.
- On a typical day, what kind of clothes do you wear?
I’m starting week three of temporary baby jail today, and one thing I’ve learned so far is that I absolutely need to get out of my pajamas, take a shower and put on real clothes in the morning in order to function during the day; otherwise, I feel like absolute crap.I dunno… Maybe the act of putting on jeans temporarily erases the fact that I’m not getting any sleep?
Anywho, to make a short story exceptionally long, on a typical baby jail day, you’ll find me in maternity jeans with a little (OK, a LOT) of stretch to them and a loose button-up flannel.
Why the flannel? Well, it makes it easier to whip out the boobs to feed Connor Claire.
Sexy schtuff, I know…
- What’s the last song you sang in the shower?
Hmm… What was it?I think — yeah, I’m pretty sure it was Hey Jude, by the Beatles, which I got stuck in my head after I played it for Connor Claire during one of her daytime feedings.
Yes, while she enjoys the fine gourmet fare known as Boobs du Mom, I play music for her. 🙂
So far we’ve covered about a quarter of the Beatles catalogue, with some Stevie Wonder thrown in there too.
- Do you have split ends?
At the moment, I do. It’s been a while since my last haircut. - Last TV show you binge-watched?
I feel like this is turning into “A Very Special Boobs Episode of the Monday Poll,” but so much of my life right at the moment is devoted to feeding the baby, so please bear with me.Anyway, I use a breast pump throughout the day, and while I’m pumping, I watch TV to pass the time. I’ve been binge-watching this show on Hulu called Broad City, and it’s HILARIOUS.
- What refreshes and reinvigorates you?
Um…a completely uninterrupted night of sleep? Also, washing my face with cold water first thing in the morning, hanging out with good friends, exploring new places with El Hub, an ice cold Power C Vitamin Water and afternoons spent at the beach (ideally, one with warm water).
Your turn. 🙂 Just copy and paste the following questions into a comment with your answers. I look forward to reading ’em!
1. On a typical day, what kind of clothes do you wear?
2. What’s the last song you sang in the shower?
3. Do you have split ends?
4. Last TV show you binge-watched?
5. What refreshes and reinvigorates you?
Have a great week, my friend, and I’ll try to do the same.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
Louise says
1. On a typical day, what kind of clothes do you wear?
Typically trousers and a blouse/sweater on workdays, occasionally an office-approp. dress. On my days off? Jeans and t-shirts covered in pet hair, of course.
2. What’s the last song you sang in the shower?
Don’t usually sing in the shower, as I bathe at 5:30 am and don’t want to wake people! But I used to belt out Disney songs all the dang time.
3. Do you have split ends?
Had to check — but nope! I rarely heat style, so that might be why.
4. Last TV show you binge-watched?
Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries!!! It’s amazing!!!
5. What refreshes and reinvigorates you?
It kinda depends, but… SLEEP is always refreshing, right? 😉

Jaclyn levy says
1. Workout clothes: sports bra, tank top, exercise pants. If I’m lucky I change into jeans after I get home from the gym.
2. I’ll change this to the last song i sang in the car since I don’t sing in the shower. I Promise by When in Rome. Major 80s vibes.
3. Do you have split ends? Probably. I haven’t inspected that closely.
4. Last TV show you binge-watched? Fuller House!
5. A good, sweaty workout, preferably weight lifting.
Chelsea says
1. On a typical day, what kind of clothes do you wear?
Depends on the time of year! In cooler weather, skinny jeans, knee high black boots, and some sort of neutral colored loose top. In the summer and warmer weather, dresses and sandals.
2. What’s the last song you sang in the shower?
I don’t usually sing in the shower!
3. Do you have split ends?
Not really! I rarely heat style my hair, so I usually don’t get them.
4. Last TV show you binge-watched?
Probably Fuller House!
5. What refreshes and reinvigorates you?
Nap in a sunbeam with the kitties.
Karen says
Lol. Netflix keeps trying to get me to watch Fuller House. Does Uncle Jessie make a guest appearance?
Anywho, I hope that things on your end are great. We’ve got some rainy weather here so I’m just hanging out at home with the baby while she does baby thangs (aka sleep, poop and eat!).
Chelsea says
Uncle Jesse is definitely present! I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the series though!
It’s cold and overcast here, but not snowy or icy, so it’s pretty good for Michigan! It was in the 60s last week!
The kitties and Quincy send their love to you and Connor Claire! QB went to the vet last week and his doctor was showing him off to everyone. Plus with Easter coming up, he’s got some ego issues, LOL!
Karen says
Aww, thanks for the lovin’ kitties and QB! Connor Claire and I will take all we can get. 🙂 Does Quincy have a special Easter outfit this year? 🙂
I might give Fuller House a try. It’ll give me something to do while I’m feeding the baby! Also, one of these days I hope John Stamos shares his secret to looking young with the world. I swear that man doesn’t age.
Chelsea says
Quincy usually doesn’t tolerate clothing or accessories, plus he’s molting like crazy. Bunny fluff everywhere! So he’ll stick to his fur tuxedo.
Ruchita says
1. On a typical day, what kind of clothes do you wear?
In the summer it’s dresses all the time, because it’s nice to just put on one piece of clothing. In the colder weather, it’s usually jeans or leggings tucked into boots.
2. What’s the last song you sang in the shower?
I am not a fan of hearing my own voice, so no singing in the shower for me. 🙂
3. Do you have split ends?
Luckily, I don’t think they’re too bad right now.
4. Last TV show you binge-watched?
The X-Files. I just finished the last show over the weekend.
5. What refreshes and reinvigorates you?
A good night’s rest and exercise. Getting some fresh air helps too.
Hope you and Connor Claire are doing well! The kitties send head boops and purrs. 🙂
Karen says
Hi Ruchita and kitties! I’ll definitely take those purrs and head boops. 🙂 How are things on your end of the keyboard? We’re all good here, just really, really tired.
Ruchita says
Hi Karen! Good to hear from you. I’m coming up for air from crazy work project so I’m looking forward to having a normal schedule this week. On Sunday I’m going on a trip to Spain with my parents. I’m so excited!
Glad everyone is healthy and doing well. Hopefully as things settle down there is some sleep in your future! 🙂
Karen says
How exciting, Ruchita! How long will you be in Spain and where will you be going? Is this your first time visiting? And will your brother be coming, too? (Family vacay!!)
I have a soft spot for Spain because that’s where El Hub proposed to me. 🙂
Ruchita says
Aww, how romantic that El Hub proposed in Spain! Maybe you guys can go back as a family some day.
It’s just me and my parents. My husband isn’t as into traveling as me, so he’s holding down the fort. It’s a 10 day trip and we’re going with a tour group. We’re starting in Barcelona, then Toledo, Seville, and Barcelona. We’ll be packing a lot into our time there. I’m excited to see all the history and museums.
Gloria Yang says
Broad City is HILARIOUS!!! I’ve only binged Season 1 so I’m way behind.
1. On a typical day, what kind of clothes do you wear?
Either an Old Navy dress (I love love love Old Navy dresses) or a top and a skirt that’s at least knee length.
2. What’s the last song you sang in the shower?
What a man what a man what a man
3. Do you have split ends?
Most likely and it’s my fault. When my natural hair grew out, I realized that I really didn’t need to condition or even use a mask, as long as I use a moisturizing shampoo. Well, that apparently doesn’t work in LA where I can smell the chlorine in the water, yet I’ve gotten way too lazy about daily conditioning.
4. Last TV show you binge-watched?
Psych! It was on USA for a good 7 or 8 seasons. The show gets a bit repetitive but they do a good job keeping things interesting.
5. What refreshes and reinvigorates you?
Ice cold citrus-y drink. Facials. A sweaty dance workout class. Facial mists. The list goes on more and more.
Lulle says
1. On a typical day, what kind of clothes do you wear?
Jeans and a T-shirt! Nothing fancy schmancy, but I try to make it look good by matching colors, using accessories…
2. What’s the last song you sang in the shower?
I don’t sing in the shower, I know you’re supposed to and I tried in the past, but it didn’t feel natural, lol!
3. Do you have split ends?
Oh girl you have no idea… I haven’t had a haircut in over a year, so yes!
4. Last TV show you binge-watched?
House Of Cards, the new season. Sometimes the cruelty in that show is hard to stomach, even though there’s nothing graphic.
5. What refreshes and reinvigorates you?
A shower, a citrusy cologne, a hike.
It sounds like you’re doing great Karen! Soon you’ll be able to get out a bit more easily!
Karen says
Hi Lulle,
I’m hanging in there. I’m really exhausted from lack of sleep but what else is new, LOL!
I hope that you’re doing well and that you’ve got some prospects on the horizon on your job search!
Lulle says
Nothing much on the job front, but the positive side of it is that I have a lot of time to invest on the blog, so I’m having fun.
I think both you and Connor Claire are doing amazing! I mean, she’s 2 weeks old and you manage to come here and reply to comments, that’s an achievement! I have girlfriends who didn’t even answer the phone for weeks, and one who was breastfeeding 22 hours a day for the first month…
Leah G. says
1. On a typical day, what kind of clothes do you wear? Jeans and a shirt or sweater with boots or clogs.
2. What’s the last song you sang in the shower? Not sure but for a while there my favorite shower singing song was ‘Colder Weather’ by Zac Brown Band.
3. Do you have split ends? People with really curly hair don’t tend to get split ends. 🙂 It’s why I only get a couple of haircuts per year.
4. Last TV show you binge-watched? We are currently binge watching ‘House of Cards’
5. What refreshes and reinvigorates you? Yoga!
kellly says
On work days, I typically wear a long sleeve thermal shirt under a sweater under a jacket and a skirt. It’s cold in my office and no matter how much layering I do, my hands stay cold! On Fridays and weekends I wear jeans and the layers on top.
I don’t sing in the shower. I can’t remember ever singing in the shower.
I don’t have split ends because I wear my hair short. I can blow dry it, color it, do whatever I want to it and no damage because by the time it has enough treatment to be damaged, it’s been long ago cut off! 😀
I don’t watch TV either.
What refreshes me? Laughing about something my goofy dogs are doing.
Kimmwc03 says
1. On a typical day, what kind of clothes do you wear? Comfy, work-appropriate attire most days. Jeans or leggings on the weekends.
2. What’s the last song you sang in the shower? I don’t know. I usually hum a song I’ve heard earlier that day or some random 90s song stuck in my head.
3. Do you have split ends? No, that is one issue I do not deal with much.
4. Last TV show you binge-watched? Gilmore Girls!
5. What refreshes and reinvigorates you? A full-night’s rest, which I did not get last night.
Anne Marie says
Karen,
I so look forward to getting your updates on Connor Claire.
How is Tabs doing adjusting to her?
xoxo
Anne Marie
Karen says
Hi Anne Marie,
Aww, I’ll have a few pics of her up in this week. 🙂 I managed to snap a few shots and will do some updates. She’s doing great, though. Getting bigger every day and staying healthy (knock on wood). Tabs, for the most part, is mildly disinterested in her, LOL! He’ll come around and check her out while I’m feeding her or tending to her, and he’ll sniff her if he’s in the mood. But mostly he just watches her and leaves her alone to do her own baby thang.
Jen. says
1. On a typical day, what kind of clothes do you wear?
My uniform is usually straight leg/ skinny-ish jeans, a 3/4 boatneck shirt, and pointy flats.
2. What’s the last song you sang in the shower?
I heard Ace of Base the other day, and they’ve been stuck in my head ever since! Ack!
3. Do you have split ends?
Nope, my hair’s super short right now so split ends are a thing of the past with so many haircuts.
4. Last TV show you binge-watched?
Baskets (it’s about Zach Galifianakis as a failed clown. I had no idea what to expect from it, but it is amazing.) I LOVE Broad City, too. I’m glad new episodes are back.
5. What refreshes and reinvigorates you?
Walks with my pups. Also, I recently bought an essential oil diffuser (embarrassing, but it’s NOT from one of those pyramid scheme companies!), and it’s probably just the placebo effect, but I swear some of those “uplift” and “invigorate” kinda blends really do help!
Karen says
Hi Jen,
Broad City is hilarious. Did you know that it started off as a web series?
I’ll have to look into that Baskets show. Are you watching it on Hulu or Netflix?
Jen says
I didn’t realize it was a web series- I am so out of the loop on that kinda thing since I hate watching stuff on my computer! I’ll watch makeup videos or other short youtube videos, but aside from that, ugh.
I *think* you can watch Baskets on Hulu.com, but it’s one of those shows they won’t let you stream to other devices (I don’t know for sure because again, aversion to watching things on the computer). I was watching at my BF’s and he has a Chromecast. I think he was streaming it directly from the FX website?
Erin says
1. On a typical day, what kind of clothes do you wear?
Yoga clothes, pj’s, or if I’m going out I’ll throw on a maxi skirt or dress.
2. What’s the last song you sang in the shower?
I don’t normally sing in the shower! It’s everywhere else!
3. Do you have split ends?
A few, even though my hair is long it’s pretty healthy.
4. Last TV show you binge-watched?
Black Sails and TWD, I needed to catch up.
5. What refreshes and reinvigorates you?
Sleep and fun, both in short supply!
Kwmechelle says
1. On a typical day, what kind of clothes do you wear? Lately, I’ve been back in my sweats cause Spring made her entrance with cold weather temps. I’ve been rocking my “Kale” sweatshirt. It looks like the one Beyoncé wore in her 711 video, except it cost much less cause I got it from an Etsy store.
2. What’s the last song you sang in the shower? Hmmm, no clue. But I rock out to 90’s R&B when I get in my car. I found three stations that play old school jams & the last song I remember is one from Tupac.
3. Do you have split ends? Probably. But I got a really good trim before I had my Marley twists installed back in February so I doubt I have many.
4. Last TV show you binge-watched? Still binge watching “A Different World”. What can I say? I’m a 90’s girl (remember that song?).
5. What refreshes and reinvigorates you? A good yoga or Pilates workout always feels so good. As does a good night’s sleep, an evening stroll, going for a joy ride, and a trip to Sephora. Double score if they all happen in one day 🙂
Karen says
Hi Kwmechelle,
Oh, how I’ve missed you!!
I hope that you’ve been doing well. 🙂
So, re: Tupac. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve cried while listening to Dear Mama. lol. Also, I used to go to dance class with a girl who went to high school with him. They had drama class together and she said he was really nice. Also I have another friend who was Tupac’s mom’s banker. Wha? I know, so six degrees.
I used to love A Different World back in the day too! Must put it on my list of things to watch. Are you watching it on Netflix?
Kwmechelle says
KAREN!!!! I’ve missed you too, dude! On the one hand I’m thinking: poor, Karen. She’s so crazy to still post when she’s got a new (beautiful) baby! Then, on the other hand I’m thinking, YAY, KAREN MADE A POST! I know, don’t say it, I’m so lame, but whatevs! Btw, LOVING the posts from the interns. You chose ’em well, kid ? And I’m kinda jelly that you know someone who knew Tupac & someone who knows his mom. Back in the day, my friends & I called ourselves Tupac-ettes. I know what you’re thinking, lame (again), but we thought we were soooo cool & loved Tupac. And I agree about the song Dear Mama. You know, I have an even better understanding & appreciation for some of his music today than I did back in the day. Some of his lyrics had a real social consciousness that still applies today. And, yes, I’m watching A Diffetent World on Netflix. It amazes me how much simpler, yet great, life was then. NO cell phones. NO social media. And LAND LINE telephones in the dorms. That show takes me back & I lurves it. I hope you able to catch up on rest soon. But in the mean time, take a bajillion pictures! This time will go by sooo fast.
Sign,
Your east coast homie 🙂
Allison C says
1. On a typical day, what kind of clothes do you wear? jeans and one of a million 3/4 sleeve tops that I own
2. What’s the last song you sang in the shower? there must be something wrong with me because I don’t!
3. Do you have split ends? no
4. Last TV show you binge-watched? I don’t binge watch
5. What refreshes and reinvigorates you? running
Karen says
Ahh, I miss running so much, Allison! How long are your typical runs?
Allison C says
In my heyday, I used to run 7 miles a day, but I’ve been running for more than 30 years at this point and my poor knees can only take 2-3 miles a day. But I still love it. I’m sure before you know it, you’ll be out with Connor Claire in a baby jogger!
Karen says
LOL, unfortunately I’m not coordinated enough to run and push a baby jogger. I have NO idea how those parents do it; I can barely keep track of myself when I’m running outside, haha!
Two to three miles is still great! Have you tried walking? I know it’s not the same sort of high that you get from running but you still see results (at least I did when I was doing it consistently).
Claudia says
1. On a typical day, what kind of clothes do you wear?
Sweats or workout pants and a T-shirt if at home, skinny pregnancy jeans and a T-shirt if going out in public. And I bring extras for the nausea.
2. What’s the last song you sang in the shower?
I love it by Icona Pop
3. Do you have split ends? No, my hair is straight so no heat needed.
4. Last TV show you binge-watched? House of Cards and the last season of Mad Men.
5. What refreshes and reinvigorates you? Sleeping through the night, this past week my 16 month old has decided 4:30 A.M. is THE most appropriate time to wake up for the day and make noise to ensure we get up. He used to sleep 10 hours straight at night. ?
Karen says
Hi Claudia,
I hope that you and your little one are doing well. Do you happen to have any good tips on getting a baby to sleep for longer periods through the night? Connor Claire is pretty good about falling asleep during the day, but the nights have been rough. I wish she’d sleep 10 hours straight, OMG!
Claudia says
Hi Karen,
Sadly I don’t have any tips.. Unfortunately she will not sleep for that long until she is about 3 months old. I tried stretching out feedings but he got hangry. I tried keeping him up later but it didnt’t work and only made it harder for him to fall asleep. They have their own internal clock. But on the bright side when Max started he slept for 12 hours straight during the night. I can only suggest you nap when she naps. It’s the only way to survive unless you have a friend who is willing to watch her a few hours while you sleep and since you pump they can give her that milk. But you will leak if that happens so make sure you have a waterproof mattress cover or boob pads. It is rough but so worth it once you see that toothless grin.
Rachel Runyan says
Beatles during feedings? You’re raising that girl right! <3
1. On a typical day, what kind of clothes do you wear? Black jeans or leggings or maxi skirts; black or bright-colored sweaters, casual tops or T-shirts; tennis shoes (if my back is bad) or flats. Lots of black. lol I have kind of an eclectic alternative glam look with goth, punk, pin-up, and rock n roll influences. If that makes sense (it doesn't). I'm easy bored and can't stick to one style.
2. What’s the last song you sang in the shower? I never sing in the shower. Never have.
3. Do you have split ends? No, I got my hair cut a few weeks ago and got them all cut off.
4. Last TV show you binge-watched? I haven't watched TV in more than a month. Ummmm…Fringe or Ripper Street. Not sure which was last.
5. What refreshes and reinvigorates you? Going to the coast. If not, a country drive with the music blasting.
Karen says
Hi Rachel,
LOL, thanks! I think a steady musical diet of The Beatles will do her good. 🙂
Also, I was pretty involved in music back in the day and hope that maybe she’ll want to play an instrument or sing or do something along those lines. I got even more excited about it when we were at the hospital and she breezed through her hearing test — maybe she’ll be a musician? Who knows!
I hope that things on your end have been good. How are you and the kids doing?
Rachel R. says
You can’t go wrong fostering a love of music.
My older son is all better, but the younger one is still really, really ill. I’m holding in there. I got a little more sleep the last couple days. The kids have been so ill, it’s been like having newborns around. I’m sleeping in small naps. At least I don’t have to change diapers, thank God! 😉
denise S says
When I first had my twins my son would sleep all day and wake up frequently during the night. My oldest sister came to visit and told me to wake him up a few times for short periods during the day. She actually played with his little feet to wake him up , lol. It helped because he slept for longer periods at night. I was so exhaused!!! Hang in there and try to sleep when the baby sleeps.
denise S says
Met to post this under you’re question to Claudia!
Karen says
Hi Denise,
I’ll try that. Do you remember how long the short periods were? Like 10 or 20 minutes?
denise S says
Just enough to wake her up a little . If she opens her eyes for a little bit that should suffice. Infants require so much sleep just waking up for short intervals during the day should help her to sleep more during the night. If she can stay up more during the day she will sleep more at night. Good luck Mommy!!
Lisa M. says

Tatiana says
1. On a typical day, what kind of clothes do you wear? Either gym wear or breeches and collared riding shirt, then jeans and some kind of tee or top.
2. What’s the last song you sang in the shower? For the sake of everyone around me I don’t sing. In the shower or out. I’m tone deaf and can’t hit a proper note to save my life.
3. Do you have split ends? Not sure, but since I keep my hair short and cut it often, I’ll say no.
4. Last TV show you binge-watched? Finished season one of Daredevil and started season two. I also watched all the episodes of Blindspot and The Blacklist that were still on the DVR since before Thanksgiving.
5. What refreshes and reinvigorates you? A good pummeling from my trainer in the gym (kettle bells and weights), a good horseback riding lesson or ice skating, then a really long, water wasting shower afterwards. Darn draught. I miss showering until the hot water runs out.
Pamela says
It’s great that you’re teaching baby to enjoy the classics: The Beatles, Stevie Wonder.
Question: If you’re calling baby by her full name all the time, how will she know when you’re mad at her? 😉 We moms usually resort to calling our children by their full names only when we mean business. (“Miss Connor Claire, get off that phone now!! Your crispy wasabi soy noodles from Trader Joe’s are getting cold! Connor Claire, why did you open up my new MAC lipsticks? I haven’t even reviewed them yet!!”) 😉 Just pulling your leg, Karen! Enjoy your little one!

Jeans and a flow-y t-shirt/blouse

Jane the Virgin (I’m still a fan)
5. What refreshes and reinvigorates you?
Long walks, catching up with old friends, anything that involves laughing a lot 🙂
Karen, your baby is growing up to lovely music, I wish I’d done the same with my son, we would have graduated from Pop Goes The Weasel by now! Kisses to Connor Claire!
Tammy says
1. On a typical day, what kind of clothes do you wear?
Lately, it’s been maxi dresses. It’s getting really hot here in Tucson and any sort of pants = ultra-hot-leg-jail.
2. What’s the last song you sang in the shower?
Rihanna’s song, “Work.” I have no idea what she’s saying in most of the song, but that chorus is so damn catchy!
3. Do you have split ends? Yes, it’s about time for a haircut.
4. Last TV show you binge-watched? I’ve been watching reruns of “Fixer Upper” on Netflix. I love how the hosts completely transform houses.
5. What refreshes and reinvigorates you?
Relaxing by the ocean, coloring (LOVE my adult coloring books), playing video games with my husband (we’re loving Lovers in Dangerous Spacetime on Xbox One), travel, good food, and wine. Lots of wine. 😉

Baby jail? Sounds like hard time. I am not sure I would last!
XX
Sakura says
1. On a typical day, what kind of clothes do you wear?
In winter- sweater & jeans or leggings. In summer- skirt and tee shirt or hundreds.
2. What’s the last song you sang in the shower?
I don’t remember because I haven’t done that in so long!
3. Do you have split ends?
Probably, I am growing my hair and haven’t gone to the hair dresser in awhile.
4. Last TV show you binge-watched?
Quantico
5. What refreshes and reinvigorates you?
Running or hiking
Heather L says
1. I work from home, so I’m home a lot… in my Victoria’s Secret pajamas! When I go to college or go out, I almost always wear jeans and a top – maybe from my college bookstore, Victoria’s Secret, Nordstrom, or Loft. Jeans and hoodie or t-shirt for the supermarket. If I do have to go out to work, I wear dressy clothes from Marshall Rousso or Cache, or a suit.
2. I honestly don’t remember ever singing in the shower. The car yes, but the shower no.
3. Not yet; my last cut was too recent.
4. House of Cards! Boardwalk Empire is my favorite show of all time, though!
5. TRAVEL!
Anita says
1. On a typical day, what kind of clothes do you wear?
I have two jobs so if I’m called to work for job A I wear dress pants, a dress shirt or regular casual shirt, a cardigan, and flat dress shoes. For my evenings job it is full casual and I wear jeans and zip hoodies every day that I haven’t had to work my first job.
2. What’s the last song you sang in the shower?
Zombie by The Cranberries
3. Do you have split ends?
Yeah, I haven’t cut my hair in a long time. My last hair person made a big deal about some hair falling out (I had an iron deficiency which causes that) and her reaction has made me feel too uncomfortable to go back, or to go elsewhere and potentially alarm someone else.
4. Last TV show you binge-watched?
Friends, again. I’m stuck in the 90s.
5. What refreshes and reinvigorates you?
Warm, sunny, spring weather (two more months until we get that here), good music, a shower, a fun time out with people I like.
LindaLibraLoca says
1. On a typical day, what kind of clothes do you wear?
Nursing tank top, cardigan and maternity jeans. Although I am in the weird phase where my maternity jeans are too loose for longer walks and my regular jeans still are too tight to wear.
2. What’s the last song you sang in the shower?
I don´t sing in the shower. With two kids now I enjoy every second of silence I can get.
3. Do you have split ends?
No. I had my hair done at the end of January, so things are still holding up very well.
4. Last TV show you binge-watched?
Currently keeping up with PLL and restarted on Vampire Diaries. I got stuck in Season 4 and there are 7 seasons now!
5. What refreshes and reinvigorates you?
Sleep, green tea and fresh air when going for a walk.

I just want to say hi, Karen, while you’re stuck in ‘baby jail’, lol! Since the weather’s going to get warmer soon, I thought I’d share something with you…
When my son was a few weeks home from NICU, he started that unexplained, ‘colicky baby’ crying for a couple of hours a day… really tough to listen to… in the early 90s, at least, the thinking was that a crying baby was overstimulated and needed to be soothed, but none of the recommended things worked (and I wasn’t going to put him in the car seat and drive around when I was that sleep-deprived — too dangerous!).
Finally, in desperation, on a warm-ish day, I bundled him up in his sling, slung his monitor over my shoulder, and went out for a walk. At the neighborhood Little League game he smiled and waved his arms while getting fussed over by all the other moms. He wasn’t overstimulated — he was just bored sitting around the house with Mom! And I felt a lot more human for getting out of the house, too. So we started going out a lot. After the first few weeks, babies become remarkably portable. Once he could sit up and eat mashed food, he was great in restaurants — he’d look around, observe what other people were doing, and imitate. Tabs might even be eager to introduce the new hire to the neighborhood. I know that right now there isn’t all that much time between feedings and changings, but even a half hour out of the house can make a difference.
On a stay-at-home day, I’m a jeans (nice ones) and fitted T-shirt with a sweater kind of gal. If I’m going to have lunch with a friend or go shopping in the city, I might wear a denim dress or wide-legged cropped trousers (Madewell, Gap) and a rayon button-down (Uniqlo has some nice ones right now) with a jacket and necklace or scarf.
I can’t remember when I last sang in the shower.
I’ve been searching for split ends, because I want to get a trim before school starts in two weeks, because then I’ll be too busy to go in for ten weeks. But it looks like being vigilant with the coconut oil pre-wash is paying off, I can’t find that many! Or maybe it’s just my poorer near vision…
My son and I have been watching old Mythbusters episodes on DVD, since they just wrapped up their final season. One of his favorite shows for fourteen years.
I’m with you on sleep being the most refreshing thing going! Failing that, lying down with a good book for half an hour, or going for a walk on a nice day.

It’s so nice to get an update from you! I’m glad things are going well with the feeding and pumping. 🙂
1. On a typical day, what kind of clothes do you wear? I’m like the sweatpants/track pants queen. All about the comfort unless I have an outside meeting or am going out and about.
2. What’s the last song you sang in the shower? Probably Audioslave’s Like a Stone but now I’ll be humming Hey Jude all day. HAHA!
3. Do you have split ends? No, my hair isn’t really dry so I haven’t had split ends since the days of the spiral perm. 🙂
4. Last TV show you binge-watched? I’m doing it now. Mad Men. Almost a decade late, 3 seasons in and SO obsessed.
5. What refreshes and reinvigorates you? Lately, getting outside for a walk. On a regular basis, I’m with you on both the sleep and down time with friends.
