You might be wondering, “So what the heck is this Monday Poll thing anyway?”

Well, it isn’t much of a poll. It’s more just a constantly evolving (devolving?), somewhat random list of questions I’ve been putting out to readers every Monday morning for the past seven years. I’ve always enjoyed reading your answers in the comments, and I hope you enjoy reading mine.

  1. Lately, my wardrobe staples have been ______.
    Skinny jeans (ideally, the kind that feel like pajama jeans, like the AG Denim Leggings), a white tee and nude-colored heels. Also, a black long-sleeved mini dress and a black faux-leather jacket.

    You can put together a ton of different looks with just those five things.

  2. Crunchy or creamy peanut butter?
    Creamy, all the way.
  3. Do you make your bed every morning?
    I try to. I want to, because it makes me feel better, or rather, it doesn’t pain me every time I catch a glimpse of a messy bed out of the corner of my eye.

    I also get a weird thrill out of seeing the duvet when it’s all fluffy. Unfortunately, that level of fluffiness usually only lasts about five seconds, depending on how long it takes Tabs to notice that the bed, which he sees as his own personal wonderland, has been made.

  4. The best things in life take ______.
    Planning, patience, perseverance and…caffeine. (I couldn’t think of a “P” word related to caffeine.)
  5. What’s your favorite healthy food/snack?
    Smoothies!

    SMOOTHIES!!

    Yup, I’m still on a smoothie kick. The one I made this morning had frozen bananas, kale, frozen strawberries, almond milk, chia seeds, acai powder, vanilla protein powder and honey.

    I’m salivating right now just thinking about it…

  6. Something unexpected?
    That I’d turn into a crazy cat lady.

    For real, though! I just always assumed El Hub and I would have a pack of dogs, but then Tabs strolled into our old apartment one fateful day (he was a stray and literally walked right in one day like he owned the place).

  7. What are things you like to do on the weekends?
    Sleeping in, going to brunch (brunch, as opposed to breakfast, because of the sleeping in thing), cleaning the house (ugh…but I always feel so much better once it’s done), and relaxing, usually by watching a movie or reading a good book.
  8. What are some things that inspire you?
    Tropical beaches; bustling, vibrant cities; sleep (LOL! It’s true, though. It’s much easier for me to make mental connections when I have enough REM time under my belt.); biographies and interviews of people achieving their goals in the face of great adversity; cheesy quotes about positive thinking.
  9. Where do you go when you need to get away someplace quiet?
    Usually, my couch, with a warm blanket and a cup of tea (and away from my phone so I can’t futz with it).
  10. Something you’re afraid to do?
    Write that damned young adult novel, already. Oh, and attempt a triathlon.

Did you watch the big game yesterday? Dude…all I can say is that was we left my parents’ house one minute into the third quarter.

Yeah, Tabs was pretty bummed about his team losing, but there’s always next year.

Best thing about the entire Super Bowl for me was Bruno Mars (and the Kitten Bowl on Hallmark).

Bruno’s performance was so much fun, and his makeup? — totally on point! His cheekbones looked defined, but not overly so, and his skin looked great. Awesome coverage and smoothness. I’m dying to know what primer, foundation and setting powder his makeup artist used.

Anywho, you have a great Monday, ‘kay? And I’ll try to do the same.

    9. Where do you go when you need to get away someplace quiet? Just out for a walk. Except I can’t do that right now, with my stupid knee injury. I am going to BEG the doctor to sign me up for surgery when I see him this week because this has been going on for months now…

    10. Something you’re afraid to do? Make an investment and start my own freelance one-man business. Again. Did it once, but before I could turn it into a success we left the country so I ended up losing a lot of money.

    My beloved Seahawks winning the Superbowl by a mile. I’ve been a 12th man since I was a child, since i’ve lived in seattle my whole life. To see the team i have been with and am so proud of get the appreciation they are due was amazing. We are the ultimate underdogs. They said our qb was too short, that we couldn’t have a deaf offensive player, and that our coach was too green. We are the 12th man, they heard us roar, and they got scared. The legion of BOOM!

    7. What are things you like to do on the weekends?
    Ride my horse, play with my dogs, do art, and read a book.

    8. What are some things that inspire you?
    Animals. I am a zookeeper, and I live for creating the best life for them that I can through conservation, enrichment and love.

    9. Where do you go when you need to get away someplace quiet?
    On the back of my horse Sunny. We’ve been together over 14 years, since we were gangly babies together.

    10. Something you’re afraid to do?
    Apply for more full time zoo keeper positions since I don’t have enough experience to fully qualify for them yet, but by interviewing and being rejected, I get experience.

    Skinny ponte knit leggings, knit top, cardigan, boots and my big down jacket. Damn you, polar vortex! I’m so ready for some warmer weather.

    You know, I go to the effort to spread out a blanket for Nina to lay on during the day, so I should just take the extra two seconds and make the entire bed!

    Carrot sticks and hummus, fresh fruit and smoothies. Lately I’ve been adding chia seeds and spinach to my smoothies to get some extra nutrients.

    Same as you – becoming a crazy cat lady. I never planned on having any pets and now I have three! I love it.

    7. What are things you like to do on the weekends?
    Sleep in. Get the house clean. Take Mingy for a walk. Wear my PJs all day.

    8. What are some things that inspire you?
    I actually watched a couple of documentaries this weekend that were inspiring.

    9. Where do you go when you need to get away someplace quiet?
    Home – just being in my own space is relaxing.

    10. Something you’re afraid to do?
    Doing something like skydiving or bungee jumping. Not a fan of extreme activities!

    6. Something unexpected? My current job, which I just started last week. It was a surprise opportunity in the same organization I’ve been working in for the past 5 years.
    7. What are things you like to do on the weekends? I like to sleep in, enjoy an Indian buffet lunch, and shop. That’s basically my Saturday morning/afternoon with my boyfriend. We also like to take day trips to see some small towns and wildlife.
    8. What are some things that inspire you? I love to hear about people who really see big successes and recognition later in life. I like the idea that life will continue to be rich and rewarding for a very long time, and that I can always try new things.
    9. Where do you go when you need to get away someplace quiet? Usually sitting in bed with tea. I can also take a walk and go through the nearby stores without having to interact with too many people.
    10. Something you’re afraid to do? Speak in public. I have to do it for my job sometimes, but I doesn’t really ever seem to get easier. I probably don’t do it often enough.

    This is kinda hard and I have way to many favorites to list! I’ll go with what’s on the menu this week: Sweet Potatoes, Salmon, Green Beans, Smoothies, and a little bit of chocolate with hazelnuts!

    I recently got Chase to admit they were wrong. Only took 7 years. But hey, I got my credit report fixed!

    I like to go out to the Farmers Market on Saturday morning, get a cappuccino from the french bakery and possibly a treat there, and take my dog for a long long walk in the fields Sunday afternoon. I also usually review a wine for my blog on the weekend, so that’s usually in there too!

    Also a really tough question! I’ll go with today: The Lumineers, a sunset, and writing about what perfume!

    9. Where do you go when you need to get away someplace quiet?

    I used to have a spot in Oregon and Washington to go to depending on my time table for the day. Here in Germany, I don’t really have a place but the fields I walk my dog in.

    Man this list is a heavy hitter this week. Other then failing, I’d say cage dive with Great White Sharks. I get heart palpitations just thinking about it.

    We must be twins! When I’m not working: My favorite jeans are my blue AG denim leggings! I love the way they squeeze everything in the right places. I pair mine with a flowing Free People shirt, t-shirt, or my favorite rustic orange Lucky sweatshirt. When I’m working: Black leggings with tunics or black dress paints with a short sleeved blouse.

    That I’m doing what I’m doing, and doing it successfully.

    Spend time with family. Sleep till I wake up vs. an alarm waking me up. Shop at antique stores. Go for a long bike ride when the weather permits.

    8. What are some things that inspire you?
    Photos of antique, carved furniture with an easy, elegant, Gustavian look. Quality continuing education courses, books and videos taught by the best educators in my field. I’m a life long learner. I think a majority of people are… or should be.

    9. Where do you go when you need to get away someplace quiet?
    My bedroom is my haven. I love my office too. It is just beautiful! When I want a quiet place to work, I’ll spend time at my office without clients.

    10. Something you’re afraid to do?
    Hire people to work for my business. Right now, my business model works for me. I know I will need to eventually hire people if I want to expand. However, I am not ready to work out all the boundary details to feel comfortable finding a trustworthy person.

    7. What are things you like to do on the weekends? Catch up on TiVo’d shows with my husband, seeing friends, doing cooking and yoga oh and hiking since we do that year round but not until the weekend!

    8. What are some things that inspire you? My Mom. She fought cancer and won. My friends. The Maine woods. :)

    9. Where do you go when you need to get away someplace quiet? see above. We spend 2 weekends/month in Maine.

    10. Something you’re afraid to do? Start a PhD program next year while keeping my fulltime job (yikes!)

    I love sleeping in and brunching too! I also derive some peverse pleasure from cleaning the flat, but it is much better when it is done! I also like having a mooch around the shops and planning my next travel adventure!

If I had my way YES, however, I am not the last party to vacate the bed and when left in his hands…well, he’s a patient man, but he can’t see the reasoning behind 8 pillows. He’s like, we are 2 people, we should have 2 pillows. But then there’s the euro shapes across the back, 2 more standards for balance, and adorable toss pillows in shades of gray and coral. It’s lovely! But definitely not “useful”. He has been making the bed more lately and that’s been REALLY nice! The whole room looks fresh and crisp when the bed is made!

Just me, no makeup, dumpy jammies, and the fresh air rolling in and the birds singing – it’s amazing!

    Oh, I hear you. Such a bummer about Denver (and Peyt in particular). He’s always classy but I’m sure he’s devastated. :( We left in the 3rd as well. Even though we were just walking across the yard, I didn’t see the point in having the boys stay up on a school night for that debacle. Agreed 100% on Bruno Mars. I loved everything about halftime!! :)
