What’s one eye makeup tool or product that you couldn’t live without? I know I’ll never be able to pick one product, but I know I can’t leave the house and feel pretty without having blended a touch of eye shadow, liner on top and bottom, mascara, and maybe a touch of brow pencil if my brows aren’t up to snuff that day. Karen, have you ever heard of the teen clothing carrier Wet Seal? I was shopping there yesterday and picked up two of their Urban Vibe Cosmetics offerings: Baked Shadow Duo and Loose Eyeshadow. The duo is a bright, shimmery primary blue (think MAC Freshwater) and deep, dark shimmery gunmental (MAC Silver Ring with a touch of Carbon) and the loose color is a deep violet-purple shade with fuschia-violet shimmer (UD Rockstar liner or the shadow equivalent of MAC Violet Fire nail lacquer). They’re both under five dollars, super smooth and pigmented and wear fairly well with a base. Check it out!

What do you want to be when you grow up? An actress, preferably in a musical on a stage in a prominent theatre.

Eyes/lips/cheeks: Wet Seal Urban Vibe loose shadow all over lid and crease (deep shimmery violet), MAC Hush shadow (pale pink) to blend and on inner lid, black liner (MAC Engraved Powerpoint) smudged on upper and lower lashlines, Maybelline Full ‘n’ Soft on top lashes. Nothing on cheeks and lips but moisturizer.

Have you ever had a REALLY BAD perm? YES! My church choir master is Cuban with fussy curly hair, and she saw my struggle as an 8-year-old with mine, so offered to straighten it. She basically applied a slew of chemicals to my hair, leaving it straight but outrageously poofy and damaged. Up until I tried the Garnier Fructis line last year I still had damage.

What was the highlight of your weekend? Going on a 108-dollar shopping spree with a friend and my sister. I snagged a pair of shoes, five shirts, one pair of shorts, one jacket and two eyeshadows. Hooray for Back to School sales!!

What’s your current favorite fragrance? I don’t really have a favorite since I don’t wear perfume that often, but I like Bath and Body Work’s mandarin/mango spray.

Outfit: Pac Sun light blue cutoff shorts, sheer white background/purple design tee with flutter sleeves and a deep yellow knit popover sweater from Wet Seal.

Weekly goals: Do my book report, talk to the techies at Best Buy for my science project.

Mood: Exciter/nervous. I have my orientation at UCLA on Friday and I’m super excited, but at the same time nervous about where to park, getting lost (it’s a HUGE campus!), and whatever else could go wrong. I’m a worrier.

What’s one eye makeup tool or product that you couldn’t live without? I go through phases with makeup, but the one product I’ve used on my eyes consistently for like five years is MAC Prep & Prime Eye. It’s the best primer for me. My eye makeup never creases, travels, or fades.

What do you want to be when you grow up? Oh, I wanted to be so many things too! I’ve wanted to be a fashion designer, a makeup artist, an attorney, a writer, a psychologist, and a Spanish professor, among other things. Given that my major is Spanish & Linguistics, Spanish professor is looking like the winner, but I haven’t ruled out law school…

What are some words you try to live by? This may sound a little morbid, but when things get really bad, I always tell myself, “No matter how bad this is, it could be ten times worse.” That always helps me to not dwell on the negative and to appreciate all the good things in my life.

Eyes/lips/cheeks: Barefaced today. If I don’t go anywhere all day, I usually don’t do my makeup (unless I’m playing with new looks). Besides, the A/C is broken, so yuck.

Have you ever had a REALLY BAD perm? Oh, I’ve had a number of perms, and in retrospect they were all bad! But I suppose they were appropriate for the 80s and early 90s. I don’t think I ever had a botched on though.

What was the highlight of your weekend? Watching Harry Potter and the Half Blood Price for the second time.

What’s your current favorite fragrance? I was alternating between Tocca Beauty Brigitte and Lolita Lempicka Forbidden Flower, but my sister owns a little handmade perfume company called L’aromatica (http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=4563), and she made a perfume for me called Sol Tropical which I really love. I’ve been wearing it everywhere.

Outfit: Kinda bummy since I’m not going anywhere today: dark denim bermuda shorts, a kelly green cotton tank top and dark brown flat sandals.

Weekly goals: To finish some transcribing work that I’m doing for the law office my sister works for, to get all the info I need so I won’t get lost at orientation, to get to orientation on time, and to stick to ketosis since I’m off carbs this week.
