You might be wondering, “So what in tarnation is this Monday Poll thing anyway!?”
Well, it isn’t exactly a poll. It’s more of a constantly evolving (devolving?), somewhat random list of questions I’ve been putting out to readers every Monday morning for the past seven years. (It’s like a kickstart for your brain.) I’ve always enjoyed reading your answers in the comments, and I hope you enjoy reading mine.
- Denim or sequins?
Sequins all day, errrday, from here to eternity!I plan to be the chick at the retirement home DJ-ing the’90s hip-hop party dressed in head-to-toe black sequins. 🙂
- Have you ever popped a zit…on someone else’s body?!
GROSS! — and yes. I’ve totally done it. - Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t?
At one point in my life, this was a do, believe it or not, but now that I’ve fully embraced the wonders of flats and tennies, I’m all about air travel in my crazy cat lady Vans. - What are three things on your desk right now?
- The above card given to me by my friend Marisol
- My kitty cat teacup and saucer
- And an air plant (her name is Doris)
- How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)?
I don’t mind them (as long as they aren’t like the black leather ones all the dads wore back in the day!).I like the practical aspects. I love the idea of having my hands free and not having to haul around a purse, so if a Chanel belt bag suddenly appears on my hips, I will not say no it.
Your turn. 🙂 Just copy and paste the following questions into a comment with your answers. I look forward to reading ’em!
1. Denim or sequins?
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?!
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t?
4. What are three things on your desk right now?
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)?
Good morning, sweet pea! If you look outside today and see pigs flying, that’s because I’m sitting here sipping a cup of decaf green tea.
DEE. CALF.
Yeah, I’m trying to wean myself off caffeine because I think it interferes with my sleep — that, and it’s something to do, right? Actually, the transition has been easier than I thought — no headaches after a week! — because the decaf tea I’ve been drinking, Twinings Decaffeinated Green Tea, tastes REALLY good.
Sending you virtual hugs this morning and happy thoughts. 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

1. Denim or sequins? Denim
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?! Yes – spouse.
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t? Don’t! Be comfy, be cozy!
4. What are three things on your desk right now? I don’t have a desk, but on my vanity I have a straightener, a lamp, and a Tarte foundation to test.
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)? As an 80’s baby…a little scared…
Syah says
1. Denim or sequins? Denim! Sequins are hard to wash and I’m all about low maintenance washing.
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?! NOOOOO.
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t? NOOOOO. I own like 3 pairs of heels – a black one for special events, a wedge and a strappy black one. Not a heels kinda gal at all.
4. What are three things on your desk right now?
– makeup corner, jewelry box and a kid photo of my partner a.k.a Canadian Boy
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)? I wouldn’t use it personally though I did rock a pink one back in the day.
Agata says
1. Denim or sequins?
I love sequins, on clothes, bags, shoes, belts. My friends always laugh at me when we go shopping because I am always drawn to these things.
But denim and sequins are a perfect combination in fact.
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?!
Gross but yes.
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t?
Definitely not. Flights are usually uncomfortable already so why add more pain to it? Flats are the best, so you can easily slip them off to go through the security.
4. What are three things on your desk right now?
My work phone, a picture frame, my coffee warmer.
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)?
Noo! I know even Victoria’s Secret is bringing it back but I just don’t like it! Maybe if it was a Chanel, I’d feel differently 🙂
Have a great Monday, Karen!
Leticia (Thee Limited Edition) says
1. Denim or sequins?
I’m gonna go denim on this, sequins look a little cray cray on me!
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?!
OMG, yes! It was the most disgusting thing ever but I did it!
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t?
I think once yes, but I travel in flip flop and leggings now! Ain’t nobody got time for TSA!
4. What are three things on your desk right now?
Water (always), phone and some work I have no desire to start at the moment! lol!
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)?
Belt bag cool! But I will sadly admit that I have an actual old school fanny pack! But I only use it to hold my phone when I got running! LOL! I need to get an arm band stat!!
India says
1. Denim or sequins?
Sequins all the way
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?!
No No No No, that kind of stuff grosses me out like no body’s business
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t?
I like to, but I normally have somewhere to go right when I get off the plane, also they’re easier to take off and put on at TSA, as opposed to unlacing and retying laces on tennis shoes.
4. What are three things on your desk right now?
A candle (of course), My laptop and a pack of gum
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)?
It’s useful but I wouldn’t really use it, more of a purse gal
xx,
India
Carolyn says
1. Denim or sequins?
I am a denim girl all the way.
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?!
Ew NO!
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t?
I barely wear high heels as it is, let alone on a plane. I’m that girl on the plane in my big, fat jogging pants, no makeup, hair in a pony.
4. What are three things on your desk right now?
My day planner/notebook, Starbucks Caramel Frap, lip balm (always!)
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)?
I didn’t like them the first time around and I still don’t like them. My dad had a leather one back in the day that my sister and I always made fun of him for. I actually think he still has it.
Jessica says
What are three things on your desk right now?
1. an inflatable blowfish
2. a whole assortment of looseleaf tea
3. a paintbrush
… none of these things have anything to do with my job ….
Kwmechelle says
1. Denim or sequins? Denim, but as an aside, I plan to be at that 90’s par-tay at the retirement home. I’ll be rocking salt & pepper, hair makeup, & orange toe nails 🙂
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?! Yes & eww. Let’s just say I learned my lesson.
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t? DO! Yep, I’m that one chick in the airport rocking sunnies & heels. They’re comfy heels, mind you, and they make me feel like a boss 🙂
4. What are three things on your desk right now? I don’t have a desk at the moment but I also need to clean my room. THE AC WAS REPAIRED THIS MORNING!!! So, I’ve officially moved back into my room upstairs. 🙂
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)? No. Just no. A Chanel fanny pack sounds fancy but I prefer cross body purses because I think they’re fashionable & practical. I’ve got one from Coach that I’ve had for years. It’s perfect when I need to run errands, take on vacations, & for a trip to the beach.
I didn’t get the chance to sport my Pixi Woo inspired makeup look this past weekend. It rained all day Saturday. Plus we had a bday party for my 3 yr old nephew + a trip to the movies to see The Minions & finally, brunch with the grandparents on Saturday. Fun was had by all. And I LOVE that bday card of yours. I still watch that show several days a week. Happy Monday =)
Karen says
Ahh, I’m just seeing this now (in a previous comment I asked about your Minions look). Well, that just means you’ll have to try it later, right?
Sounds like you had a fun weekend. What did you order at brunch (it’s my favorite meal).
Tatiana says
1. Denim or sequins?
Denim!
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?!
Eeww! Uhm, yes. You know it was on that one spot on the back that nobody can reach by themselves.
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t?
Don’t. I prefer to have my feet be comfortable. It’s just too much to ask to put my flight swollen feet into heels, then have to wait in line for passport control and then wait for luggage and finally make outside to find a taxi or train.
4. What are three things on your desk right now?
White Emile Henry mug filled with Japanese green tea. Deborah Lippman The Cure cuticle cream. The New York Times Sunday crossword puzzle.
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)?
Not thrilled by the idea of it. But then again, I haven’t seen a really cute one. If I’m going to do hands free I prefer a small cross body bag.
Karen says
Hi Tatiana,
The Chanel one is not completely hideous, lol. It’s black leather and lies flat on the body.
Sabrina says
1. Denim or sequins?
Denim all day.
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?!
Listen man, sometimes you gotta help a friend out. But I find popping zits to be satisfying, so it doesn’t bug me.
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t?
Don’t. I’ll be in slip-ons and probably yoga pants if I have to fly anywhere.
4. What are three things on your desk right now?
Water bottle, my hand cream, and kitty cat tape dispenser
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)?
Please let me die. Please let it die.
Karen says
Hey Sabrina,
I need that kitty cat tape dispenser in my life. Where did you find it?
Sabrina says
Here’s the postit note kitty holder: http://www.staples.com/Post-it-Pop-up-Cat-Dispenser/product_260822?cid=PS:GooglePLAs:260822&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=260822&KPID=260822&kpid=260822&gclid=CLjhk53G2cYCFQEdaQodlEgISQ

I have both, because no control!
Karen says
Totally ordering both because I need them in my life right MEOW! Thanks, Sabrina!
Meghan says
1. Denim or sequins?
Denim
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?!
Heck no! haha
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t?
Once upon a time I probably would have done this, but I can’t recall a specific occasion. Now, heels are a don’t for me 24/7. They just ain’t comfortable, man!
4. What are three things on your desk right now?
A 3-cup mason jar of water, because hydration. My planner. No fewer than four lip products. (In no particular order, Maybelline Babylips, Bite Beauty duo-ended lipstick, NYX matte lip cream in Tokyo, By Terry Baum de Rose that I used Birchbox points to acquire.)
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)?
I was unaware. Yikes. Really?
Karen says
Hi Meghan!
Tell me about your planner. Is it the kind you can write in? I’m currently looking for one…
Hope you had a nice Monday!
Meghan says
Hi Karen! Happy Monday. 🙂
This is my first year back in a paper planner. It’s a game-changer for me. It’s just different when I write things down. I’m using an Erin Condren Life Planner. It’s a little cutesy (I’d prefer a cleaner, simpler design) but the thing is a BEAST. The spiral coil is made of aluminum and it doesn’t bend or twist out of shape. I’ve been using this planner daily, throwing it in bags and purses, since November and it’s in near-perfect condition! The pages still turn perfectly. The paper is thick so your pens don’t bleed through. It has monthly and weekly views with good space for notes. There are also many accessories and add-ons to stay even more organized.
There are so many planner options out there but I’ve been really happy with the quality of this one. Depending on what you want to do, the biggest potential drawback is moving things around. The binder system planners are really easy for popping pages (or entire sections) in and out and moving them around. I haven’t felt a need to do that yet, but it is a factor I’m mulling over for next year’s planner.
Of course, there are tons of reviews and even how-tos on YouTube. I’ve found some of those videos helpful.
Hope this helps! 🙂
Meghan
Karen says
Thank you Meghan! I’ve been trying to decide between the Erin Condren Planner and one from Kate Spade. Sounds like I might have to just bite the bullet and order one. I currently keep a calendar on my phone, but you’re right. It’s different when you write it down. Thank you again for your insight!
Meghan says
Can’t wait to hear what you pick! The Kate Spade ones are beautiful. I wish I could put their pages in the Erin Condren. Durability and design! Happy planning!
Karen says
I have more question for you, Meghan! Is the Erin Condren planner heavy?
Meghan says
Fire away! I don’t find the planner heavy. It’s substantial. Something durable will weigh a little more than something not, obviously. I stuff mine pretty full and don’t find it prohibitive to schlep around. 🙂
jen. says
1. Denim or sequins? Denim, always.
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?! Eeeeeewwwww no.
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t? Don’t! First of all- uncomfortable for all that standing around, annoying for security, and what if you need to chase down your connecting flight on the other side of the airport? Not practical.
4. What are three things on your desk right now? a cup of coffee, a purple notebook, and some nail polish (butter London in Ladybird)
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)? It’s very confusing. I have a classmate who wears one (but also carries a backpack?) and it just seems… well, I’ll stick with confusing. Ha.
Karen says
Hmm, that confuses me too. Is your classmate a girl or a guy? Because for some reason I can see a dude carrying a backpack and wearing a fanny pack.
jen. says
Girl. She seems more into function than fashion, but it doesn’t strike me as either, just uncomfortable! I can also totally see some guy with both, too.
Karen says
Interesting! If I was in your class, I’d totally ask her about it. I’m shameless like that I guess, LOL!
Anyway, I hope you’re having a good Tuesday so far. 🙂
Allison C says
1. Denim or sequins? Sequins, of course!
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?! no, I’m squeamish and a germophobe
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t? I have always since I traveled so much for business
4. What are three things on your desk right now? TokyoMilk Excess fragrance, a heart-shaped calculator that needs a new battery, and lots of papers that need to be filed or thrown out
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)? ugh, how could it possibly be back?
Karen says
Allison! I love that you have a heart-shaped calculator, aww!
Have a good week. 🙂
tulipthecat says
1. Denim or sequins? I would go with denim. Sequins kind of make a mess
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?! not that I can recall
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t? Um a don’t. What if there is an emergency and you need to get out quickly. Wearing high heels will slow you down and people will just push you aside and you will never get out.
4. What are three things on your desk right now? 5 tubes of lipstick, a photo of my cat, and a tsum tsum eeyore
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)? I don’t mind because it’s nice to not have to hold a purse.
Karen says
OH, and here’s another advantage to the belt bag: it allows you to keep your hands free so you can pet cats. 😀
How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun? Give Tulip a hug for me!
Tulipthecat says
I went to the spa on Saturday for a baby shower. I went to a place called Watercourse way in palo alto and it was pretty nice and then we had dinner at my brother’s house.
Actually I need a baby bjorn like thing for Tulip because she wants me to carry her around the house all the time. The instagram photo of you and Tabs napping was super cute. How was your weekend? Give Tabs some treats from me 🙂
Karen says
I’ve said the same thing to El Hub! I would love a Baby Bjorn for Tabs, too! He’d need an XXL one though. Haha.
My weekend was very relaxing. I really needed to just veg out, and that’s exactly what I did.
I’ll give him a few Greenies for you! El Hub just picked up a new bag today. Have you ever given those to Tulip? Tabs is CRAZY about his Greenies.
Tulipthecat says
I tried giving Greenies to Tulip before but she hated them. She only really likes Frisky’s Cheeze treats. She’s a weird cat.
Karen says
I think all cats are weird. Did I ever tell you that Tabs loves scrambled eggs? And wheat bread?
Tulipthecat says
Tulip loves the cheese on cheetos. I was eating them while watching TV once and I was holding one. The next thing I knew Tulip was licking it and licked off all of the cheese. She also likes patis but I have to keep it away from her because it’s too salty.
Karen says
She’s a cat who loves cheese! Has she ever had actual cheese? Tabs has a few times and seemed to like it.
Tulipthecat says
She loves cheese, milk, and sour cream. I don’t give her too much or she will puke.
Karen says
Same with Tabs. He only gets a small nibble here and there. Has she ever tried ice cream? I bet she would like it.
Anna says
1. Denim or sequins? Denim. I live in skinny jeansduring the colder months!
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?! Noooooo Ewwwwww!!!
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t? When someone waves their magic wand and turns me into Adriana Lima- yes. Otherwise….
4. What are three things on your desk right now? chapstick, lotion and chaptick. yes.
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)? No words.
Love you! 😀
Karen says
Have a great week, Anna!
Leah G. says
Go you with the green tea, Karen! So many health benefits!
1. Denim or sequins?
Denim. But not a “Canadian Tuxedo” (jean jacket with jeans). 🙂
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?! NO
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t?
I normally change to flats before I fly. I’ve had to run to get connections (most recently in May). I remember saying “now this is why I don’t fly in heels I would have missed my flight!”
4. What are three things on your desk right now?
Polar raspberry lime seltzer, my iPhone, a small little adorable notepad from Japan (found it at a shop in Cambridge).
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)? It reminds me of the older folks on cruises that wear matching outfits! 🙂
Karen says
Hi Leah G.,
YES! I’m glad someone else is as stoked about the anti-oxidants and I am, lol!
You cracked me up, by the way with the “Canadian Tuxedo” bit. I never knew that was a thing!
Have a wonderful week!
Leah G. says
Thank you Karen! Have a great week too! hahah yes, the denim combo has a great name!
Lauren says
Hi Karen! No caffeine…good for you! But I’m yawning for you! Have a little caffeine if you get withdrawal headaches!
1) denim!
2)absolutely and ewww to admit it! I’m a nurse and love anything disgusting!
3) I envy peoe that can, but my feet swell to the size of stay puffed marshmallow man!
4) my desk is packed for another upcoming move. 🙁
5) om, super ugly, buuuut, being a hiker and occasional runner, I think they’d be perfect for the summer when I don’t have pockets. As long as Noone recognizes me! 😉
Karen says
Hi Lauren,
No headaches so far, knock on wood.
I didn’t know you were a nurse! That’s super cool. How long have you been in the profession?
Laureny says
Hooray no headaches!! I hope you sleep amazing tonight!!
I’ve been a nurse since 2001, but just had to quit because I’m moving to a different country in a month, and can’t practise there. I’m going nutso not working!
Karen says
Well that’s still very exciting. What will you be doing in the new country?
Happy Tuesday!
Vijaya says
1. Denim or sequins?
Denim!
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?!
NOOOOO!
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t?
Depends on how fabulous I want to look getting off the plane. Either way they’re coming off during the flight!
4. What are three things on your desk right now?
Stapler, files, a cup my boyfriend gave me that he got for free at a career fair.
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)?
Ummm… not for me!
Karen says
Have a good week!
Vijaya says
Same to you! 🙂
Sarah says
Hi Karen! Hugs and kisses to you, Tabs, and El Hub!
1. Denim or sequins? SEQUINS! All the way! Add some glitter too.
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?! All the time. It was practically written in my vows that the husband and I pop each others pimples if we can’t reach it ourselves.
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t? No way! Unless you are planning on meeting someone that is heels worthy, I would wear flats and change into heels after landing.
4. What are three things on your desk right now? Cell phone, fan (that is saving me from this hot summer), and cat calendar (surprise!)
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)? The practicality of a funny pack is good, but the look it terrible.
Karen says
Hi Sarah!
How are you? Did you and Vinny end up adopting another kitty?
Happy Monday!
Sarah says
Happy Monday back at ya!
No…we can’t seem to find an older cat that is suitable for our current 3 kitties. We are going to keep trying! Vin says 3 is enough but I feel like 3 is just a starting number. LOL
Karen says
Three is the minimum number for Crazy Cat Lady-ness. 😉 I’m trying to get there! My plan is to convince El Hub that Tabs needs two kittens, but he’s not sold…yet. I’m working on it.
Have you ever heard of purebredsplus.org? They have kitties available for adoption in the Bay Area! There’s detailed descriptions of each cat’s personality (they stay with foster homes, not in a shelter), so you really get the sense of each cat.
Sarah says
I have never heard of that website. I appreciate the reference, I will check it out!
Karen says
You’re welcome! I check it all the time to just look around on the off chance that I’ll see a kitty that might fit in with Tabs. 🙂 Good luck!
LindaLibraLoca says
1. Denim or sequins?
Denim, but I dream of sequins.
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?!
Uhm. Yes.
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t?
No. I wear comfy socks.
4. What are three things on your desk right now?
Tea cup, pens, heaps of paper I should have read by yesterday.
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)?
No. Way.
And decaf? Decaf green tea? Like in flavored water? I just cant. I had to do that when breastfeeding. Still traumatized.
Karen says
Ya know, it actually tastes pretty good! I don’t mind it so much. It does take a little longer for me to wake up, but I’m sure I’ll get used to it.
How long did you have to do decaf?
LindaLibraLoca says
Well, I usually drink up to two liters of green tea a day, so I had to cut back in pregnancy already, and then for the whole time breastfeeding only one cup a day. And my substitutes tasted horrible!
After I stopped nursing, I treated myself to two big pots and they gave me the jitters, lol. But I got used to it again pretty quickly.
Melanie Bregman says
1.Denim or Sequins? Denim.
2.Have you ever popped a zit…on someone else’s body. No.
3.Wearing high heels on a plane: do or don’t? Definitely don’t.
4.What are three things on your desk right now? I don’t have a desk but a table for make up. It has a cup full of lip glosses, tinted foundation, and lots of make up brushes.
5.How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack(otherwise known as “the belt bag)? Not interested. That ship has passed.
Karen says
Hi Melanie,
Ooh, lip gloss! What are your favorite lipglosses?
Melanie Bregman says
I love MAC lip glosses. I recently got a nice one by Arbonne(you need to buy through a representative of the company or online)called Mimosa. Just beautiful. I also really like Bare Essentials Buxom glosses.
Karen says
Oh I love the MAC ones and the Buxom ones too. Have you ever tried the MAC Plushglasses or the Cremesheens? Those are my faves.
Melanie Bregman says
I have tried the Cremesheens but not the Plushglassses. I must try it in the future.
Molly says
1. Denim or sequins? Denim. My sequin wearing is very occasional 🙂
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?! Yes, once or twice on my husband. EW.
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t? Generally, I dress really comfy on a plane unless I have somewhere to head right after I get off!
4. What are three things on your desk right now? Coffee (sorry if that tempts you ;)), a giant gold M, and bills :/
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)? I’m not a fan yet. I might change my mind if I see a rockin’ one!
Happy Monday!
Karen says
Happy Monday to you too, Molly!
The coffee is a little tempting, not gonna lie! But that’s what decaf is for, I guess. 🙂
ericca says
1. Denim or sequins? Demin
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?! Yes, on parent, former spouse , boyfriend. My family thought I’d be a dermatologist.
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t? flats only
4. What are three things on your desk right now? computer, phone, handbag
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)? umm, maybe for teens. for my age. lol, i dont know
Karen says
Hi Ericca,
LOL re: your answer to question 2. I have to ask… are you an now aesthetician? Because sometimes I wonder if they get a weird thrill out of extracting blackheads and whiteheads.
Rachel R. says
1. Denim or sequins? Sequins!!!!!!!!
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?! Unfortunately, yes. I’ll spare you the details.
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t? For me it’s a don’t. I wear my comfiest, most supportive tennis shoes. With my back injury, comfort and support are a must for walking through airports and sitting in cramped seats with my legs squashed in a non-ergonomic fashion. Fortunately, I rarely fly.
4. What are three things on your desk right now? My computer, my cell phone, and a ton of unfiled paperwork.
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)? I didn’t know it was returning, but I’m OK with it. I prefer my purse, but they used to be really handy when my kids were younger. One less bag to carry, and I could get them little ones for when we went on trips, for carrying their little sunglasses, lip balm, the odd toy that they just couldn’t leave at home.
Karen says
Yeah, believe it or not those fanny packs are making a comeback (according to Glamour and various other glossy magazines I’ve come across lately). I have to admit the Chanel one is pretty cute, LOL. But really, if I had the $$$ to have a Chanel bag, I’d probably opt for something more traditional.
I hope you and your family (and Padfoot the bunny) had a wonderful weekend!
Rachel R. says
Well, Chanel anything would look good. 😀
We had a pretty nice weekend. Nothing too exciting. Padfoot is doing great. It’s been hot, so I’m glad his run is under a really big tree and he has lots of shade. He hangs out and plays with the squirrels.
Karen says
Those mellow weekends are the best. 🙂 And when it’s summer they’re especially great because of the long days. If you lived nearby I’d hook Padfoot up with some parsley. I just brought some over to my neighbor’s house for their bunny to snack on because my parsley plant is out of control.
Rachel R. says
Your neighbor’s bunny is lucky. Padfoot loves parsley, and Mint. I want to get one corner of our yard growing some for him, but it didn’t happen this year. We let dandelions and clover grow in his area, and give him whatever we pull out of the rest of the yard.
Ana says
1. Denim or sequins?
Always denim… With a lil sequin thrown in once in a while
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?!
EWL!! NO!!!
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t?
Definitely FLATS
4. What are three things on your desk right now?
Coffee cup, water bottle and my cell phone…
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)? Did not like it then and don’t like it now!!!
Karen says
Hi Ana,
Ha, I loved your answer to question 3. Do you have any comfortable flats to recommend?
Trude says
1. Denim or sequins? Denim, because it can go more places, but what girl doesn’t love a little sparkle? 🙂
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?! Nope nope nope.
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t? If you’re going straight to a meeting/event from the airport, I get it, but girl just pack them in the carry on until you need them!
4. What are three things on your desk right now? A mug from Norway, special photos and tissues.
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)? Yikes. I get the appeal of being more hands free, but too many 80s & 90s bad memories!
Karen says
Good advice to pack them in the carry on. I would take it a step further and use the empty spaces inside the shoes to pack even *more* stuff. 🙂
Lulle says
1. Denim or sequins? Totally denim. Sequin always look better than they feel… I remember wearing a sequins top that rubbed my underarms so bad that they ended up raw. Ouch.
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?!
Eeeek no!
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t?
Don’t. Plane trips are uncomfortable enough already! Unless you fly in business, then maybe it’s doable without suffering a blood clot… I always fly in super comfy clothes, especially for long flights: yoga pants, slip-on vans or something similar, comfy tee and some kind of fleece jacket, cause it’s cold up there.
4. What are three things on your desk right now?
My Jetoy notebook, a set of colorful pens (who doesn’t want to write in purple ink?), pictures of me with my hubby.
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)?
Not too good… but I have a very thin, narrow one to run with. It’s handy to put my phone and ID for short runs, and it doesn’t move around because it’s elasticized (I have to wear it super high because of my body shape or it will travel up to my natural waist, my hubby says it looks weird. Well I don’t think I look good when I run anyway, huffing and puffing with a red, sweaty face, so whatever!)
Karen says
Hey Lulle,
You’ve gotta try the RooSport Magnetic Running Pocket. I used it during the Nike Half Marathon and it’s literally the best running pouch I’ve ever used. (You can see pics here.) It has seriously changed my life! I use it when I’m running, hiking or biking.
Lulle says
Oooh I have to look into that!
Karen says
It’s wonderful. I’ve tried running with other packs and this is the best one. It doesn’t chafe and holds a ton of stuff. I can fit my ID, my phone, keys, a GU pack, and a contact case filled with Vaseline (a must for long runs). I wear mine on my waistband near the small of my back; for me this is the most comfortable position!
Kelly says
1. Denim or sequins?
Hmm, I’ll say sequins. 🙂
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?!
Oh god no! That’s just wrong on so many levels 🙁
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t?
I think that depends where you’re going and how long the flight is. Less than 2 hours? Ehh, why not? Anything longer than that I’ll be rocking my Uggs, leggings, and a long sweater!
4. What are three things on your desk right now?
Formula X Nail Set I’m currently reviewing, a seriously awesome Haunted Mansion postcard from an instagram friend (it’s one of those that changes when you move it; in this case it’s a handsome man growing old into a skeleton, so cool!), and an adorable stuffed sloth my brother gave to me a couple days ago (I have a sloth obsession, might need an intervention soon).
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)?
Uhhm, I really don’t know. I’ve seen some people with them that make it look so high fashion, but I know if I try the trend I’ll end up looking like a tourist! So I’ll leave the fannypack to those that travel, love convenience, and can make it look so fashionable. 🙂
Maggie says
1. Denim or sequins? DENIM!!!! No question–denim is my staple. I think I’d like a few more sequinned accessories but other than that I wouldn’t miss it like I would denim.
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?! Yup, I have. It’s gross but I’ve long accepted the idea that life has gross parts.
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t? For me, nope. I wear the bulkiest shoes I’m bringing for the trip on the plane so I don’t have to find space to pack them away–my bulkiest are typically not heels. I also keep a pair of flats in my carry-on for when I’m actually on the plane–in case I’d rather not wear bulky heavy shoes for the entire flight.
4. What are three things on your desk right now? Desk? What desk? (I really need one).
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)? I have a purse with a shorter cross-body strap that I’ve adjusted to wear as a belt bag–and I only get compliments when I wear it as a belt bag (bc believe it or not, it actually looks best that way).
Gigi Rodgers says
1. Denim or sequins? Denim – in dark wash, straight, wide leg if possible. It makes my legs look like Redwoods.
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?! Hells to the no! Being in a stall with another girl while she pees because she wants to keep talking is where I draw the line.
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t? Planes get cold and you have to be on the Victoria’s Secret payroll to afford their syphilis infested blanket (I’m onto you!). So I do heeled BOOTS. Suckas! 😉
4. What are three things on your desk right now? Acrylic paint, bubbles, and the book “The 5 People You Meet In Hell” (funny, but a little erratic).
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)? Uh, I just rocked that bad boy a few weeks ago and I made it look good! Look ma, no hands! I will say I want a more stylized fanny pak though – slimmer and sleeker. Any suggestions?
Jess says
1. Denim or sequins? Denim, I love jeans and Jean jackets!
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?! Grosssss
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t? No way be comfortable !
4. What are three things on your desk right now? A fan, a pic of me and hubby and a purple stapler.
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)? Sure why not!
Amoure Jones says
1. Denim or sequins? Definitely both. There is nothing like dressing a pair of grungy denim jeans or a jacket with some fabulous sequins. It’s like flat glitter. Who doesn’t love glitter?!
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?! Yes, I use to do my (ex) boyfriends all the time.
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t? Don’t. Plane rides are suppose to be comfortable, and you can always stash a pair in your carry-on to switch into once you’ve gotten off.
4. What are three things on your desk right now? Tweezers, NYX drk brwn liner, and water.
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)? I wasn’t a fan of it back then and I’m not a fan of it now. But fashion is no different and everything that’s old will once again become new again (or at least reborn).
Efrain says
1. Denim or sequins?
Life’s better with sequins.
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?!
No I haven’t and I hope to remain without doing it.
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t?
Don’t I’m all about being comfortable.
4. What are three things on your desk right now?
Crap, brushes and papers, seriously I need to declutter half of my room.
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)?
I don’t like them, yes they’re easier to use but they can’t be stylish, when I watch one I can only think of tourists or flea market’s sellers.
Karen I’ve realized that the day I forget or can’t fill the Monday poll you chat more with people than the days I answer it.
Karen says
Hey Efrain! Just wanted to say hi and wish you a good week. 🙂
jennifer says
1. Denim or sequins? Can I say both? I love both so much.
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?! Eeww, no.
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t? Don’t
4. What are three things on your desk right now? A dying bouquet of foxgloves, a Lush Santa’s lip scrub, which arrived really dried out in a christmas box of Lush goodies and I was going to return and now I think I’m just going to doctor it up myself with some coconut oil and Origins Make A Difference Hand Treatment.
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)? maybe not
Karen says
Yes, girlfriend, you can haz both denim and sparkles. lol
Have a great week!
Kiss & Make-up says
Bit too late, but still!
1. Denim or sequins? Denim jeans. Sequinned tops and dresses!
2. Have you ever popped a zit… on someone else’s body?! EWWWWW. No, not that I recall. And I think I’d remember, lol.
3. Wearing high heels on a plane: do or a don’t? Do if you’re only flying with hand luggage and don’t have a very big suitcase!
4. What are three things on your desk right now? My iPhone, an Asterix and Obelix comic and a half empty pack of Mentos.
5. How do you feel about the return of the fanny pack (otherwise known as “the belt bag”)? All for it! I actually have one. But I wear mine as a cross body bag 🙂

I’m probably very old (46), but I LOVE that series. I don’t know how many times I rewatched those adorable and connectable “old” ladies and phantasize about having such a group of friends (male or female) when I grow older.
And as far as the “fanny pack” is related: as long as it’s modern and not “too much” in your face, I don’t mind. Each it’s own.
Have a nice day (currently listening to Christina Aguilera’s The right man and Adam Lambert’s What are you waiting for).
