You might be wondering, “So what in tarnation is this Monday Poll thing anyway!?”
Well, it isn’t exactly a poll. It’s more of a constantly evolving (devolving?), somewhat random list of questions I’ve been putting out to readers every Monday morning for the past seven years. (It’s like a kickstart for your brain.) I’ve always enjoyed reading your answers in the comments, and I hope you enjoy reading mine.
- Walk me through your everyday concealer process.
My concealer process changes a lot because the state of my skin is different from one day to the next, and honestly, if I went through every little detail this would be a three-volume version of The Monday Poll (NO JOKE!). Buuuuut, here’s the gist of it to give you an idea…After I apply primer and some type product to even out the tone of my skin (BB cream, tinted moisturizer or foundation), I grab a full-coverage concealer (usually something with a thicker consistency, like a cream, stick or something creamy in a pan) for the areas of my face that don’t involve my under-eyes. (Does that make sense?) I typically grab two shades so I can mix them to match whatever color my skin is at the time. Then I conceal the specific areas where I want more coverage — around my nose, my mouth, my chin and my cheeks. I try to apply as little product as possible because I don’t want it to look heavy.
I’ll then move onto concealing my dark circles. I grab a different concealer — one that’s thinner with a liquid consistency, and usually a shade or two lighter than my natural skin tone — to disguise the dark parts (otherwise known as “my zombie zones”) underneath my eyes.
With both the face and under-eye concealing, there’s a ton of buffing and blending so that I can get the concealer to look as skin-like as I can.
Aaaaaaand when all of that business is done, I set everything with a bit of powder.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: it takes a village.
If you have specific questions about the process, please feel free to ask in the comments below (after you answer the poll, of course!). 😉
- Would you rather carry a designer bag or wear a pair of designer shoes?
This is tough. I’m less likely to lose a pair of designer shoes, and because I’ve tried on uber pricey heels before just for kicks, I know that my feet like how they look and feel in those fancy-schmancy shoes, not gonna lie.But the thought of rocking a classic black Chanel bag is oh-so-tempting.
Yeah…I’d go with the bag, but only if I could have one that I could wear every single day and can dress up or down. Practicality, ya know.
- What are your five favorite stores right now?
Trader Joe’s (because hello, food), LOFT (otherwise known as the “TMMN” store or “Take My Money Now” store due to the fact that they have sales every five seconds), Ann Taylor (again, great sales, and I like that they have a petite section), Homegoods (but you already knew this of course!) and Nordstrom (because they have a little of everything). - What was your favorite movie when you were a kid?
“Nobody puts Baby in a corner.”I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve watched Dirty Dancing, but I’m guessing that it’s in the mid-thousands. OMG, I KNOW! It was my favorite movie to watch when I was a kid, even though I had absolutely no idea what was going on with the more adult story lines. All I knew was that I loved the music, and I loved the dancing (still do), and I especially loved the scene where Patrick Swayze takes Jennifer Grey’s character out to the lake and tries to teach her lifts. SWOON!
- Do you think you’re more book smart or people smart?
Neither — I’m cat smart. Haha! Um, well, I got decent grades in school, so I guess you could say I’m more book smart.
Your turn. 🙂 Just copy and paste the following questions into a comment with your answers. I look forward to reading ’em!
1. Walk me through your everyday concealer process.
2. Would you rather carry a designer bag or wear a pair of designer shoes?
3. What are your five favorite stores right now?
4. What was your favorite movie when you were a kid?
5. Do you think you’re more book smart or people smart?
Hey, hey, happy Monday! I’m off to a late start because I decided to switch things up and go for an early morning walk. Actually, the truth is, I heard through the grapevine (otherwise known as El Hub) that there was a cute white kitty hanging out on the hill, so I wanted to see if I could find her and make friends.
I didn’t find her, but I did see some turkeys…
Not as exciting as a cuddly cat, but I’ll take whatever suburban wildlife I can get.
This day’s starting to look like I’m going to need a third cup of tea, so I’m off to fire up the kettle. Have fun filling out the poll, and don’t forget to smile today. 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

1. Walk me through your everyday concealer process.
-Honestly…I just use a brightener on my very inner corners and put a violet-toned powder on top! I’m no-fuss with my concealer!
2. Would you rather carry a designer bag or wear a pair of designer shoes?
-Handbag. Hands down.
3. What are your five favorite stores right now?
-H+M, Michael Kors Outlets, Ruche, 6pm, ELF, Lulu’s (I like to shop!)
4. What was your favorite movie when you were a kid?
-Pretty sure I like The Little Mermaid a whole lot!
5. Do you think you’re more book smart or people smart?
-Book smart fo’ sure!

Hey Karen, I just wanted to say hello. It’s been ages since I’ve commented here. 🙂
1. Walk me through your everyday concealer process.
Right now it’s a little bit of Bobbi Brown corrector in Dark Peach under my eyes (this is technically not a coneealer, but it works for everyday application when I am just running errands) and Revlon foundation on blemishes. It’s not a true concealer either, but I want to use up my bottle before it turns bad, so it’s the face product I reach for most nowadays.
2. Would you rather carry a designer bag or wear a pair of designer shoes?
Shoes. I tend to wear a lot of black and designer shoes would really jazz up my outfit.
3. What are your five favorite stores right now?
Food Bazaar, a local discount store (it sounds unexciting, but these are the best for finding cheap household items and little things you need, like air freshener and notebooks), Nordstrom, Wet Seal and Ben Bridges.
4. What was your favorite movie when you were a kid?
Mrs. Doubtfire was one, and Hocus Pocus. I also loved Dirty Dancing, and I really liked any teen movie. Molly Ringwald movies were a favorite.
5. Do you think you’re more book smart or people smart?
I’m an anthropologist, so do I have both covered? Lol. I think I’m more book smart. I am pretty good at analyzing other people’s foibles and problems and figuring out solutions for them.
Stephanie Smith says
1. Walk me through your everyday concealer process. I don’t wear concealer everyday, in fact, I really don’t ever wear it. I was born with really good skin, thank you to my Grandfather for that, and don’t really need it. Occasionally I’ll wear a little Bo-ing from Benefit underneath a BB or CC cream, but that’s it! I like to see skin, I don’t care for full coverage foundation.
2. Would you rather carry a designer bag or wear a pair of designer shoes? Bag. I’m hard on shoes. But only in a bright color!
3. What are your five favorite stores right now? Trader Joe’s, Sprouts, Target (because duh) Ulta, and World Market.
4. What was your favorite movie when you were a kid? “Goonies!” It’s still a favorite.
5. Do you think you’re more book smart or people smart? People. I got good grades in school, but I’m very proud of the friendships I’ve made that have lasted so long!
Julia Alkaseltzer says
Hi Karen! Happy Monday! I have my cup of coffee and ready to start this week. There are many reasons to smile!
1. Walk me through your everyday concealer process.
Okay! I start with applying BB Cream all over my face. And then I take full coverage concealer and dab it over acne scars, then blend. Then of course set with powder. It’s really all I do. One a day where I feel less lazy or if I make more time, I’ll put on some under eye concealer.
2. Would you rather carry a designer bag or wear a pair of designer shoes?
I would rather carry a designer bag, though honestly I have yet to wear a pair of designer shoes. May that change over the next few months!
3. What are your five favorite stores right now?
Ulta, Trader Joe’s(for real!!! My favorite thing right now is their kettle cooked olive oil chips. Seriously, no one does that better), Ross, Target, and probably Amazon. I actually haven’t been shopping too much lately but Amazon has been my go-to in terms of shopping.
4. What was your favorite movie when you were a kid?
Other than Disney movies. I’m going to name Cop and a Half! I loved the idea of a kid my age going on an adventure. I am now also going to have to mention Baby’s Day Out.
5. Do you think you’re more book smart or people smart?
This is a tough question and I am overthinking this! I would say people are more people smart because interaction among people can seem more engaging than words on a page for many people.
Isabella says
1. I wear power foundation so I start on prepped skin with a cream concealer (stick/pot) and cover up my blemishes and red patches with a small lip brush, buffing out the edges with my finger. Than I move on to a liquid concealer for under the yes. I try to use as little as possible here. If I need more concealing after foundation I just press a bit extra powder foundation over the area with a small eyeshadow brush.
2. Designer bag! I’d just get a lot more wear out of a bag. A pair of designer boots would have been nice but I know they would get ruined after one season. A Swedish winter with snow means stained leather from road salt and chewed up heals from the gravel 🙁
3. Kicks in Sweden
4. The little mermaid! I probably spent a year dressing up as a mermaid at home after that movie, haha.
5. Book smart :]
Allison C says
1. Walk me through your everyday concealer process. I don’t always bother with concealer, depends what’s going on. But I choose from either NYX Above & Beyond Concealer or Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage in pots/compacts vs. tubes like Bye Bye Under Eye, Amazing and Maybelline Master Glaze.
2. Would you rather carry a designer bag or wear a pair of designer shoes? Designer bag coz I’d be using it more often
3. What are your five favorite stores right now? My favorite stores are influenced by how much money I’ve got and since my business is slow, I’d have to say TJs, Marshalls and trying not to buy much…though I splurged on a flowered top at a boutique just last week, lol
4. What was your favorite movie when you were a kid? Fantasia
5. Do you think you’re more book smart or people smart? book smart
Kalli says
1. Walk me through your everyday concealer process.
I switch between using my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush and a Beauty Blender, but most times I use the brush because the extra trip to the bathroom to dampen my BB is usually too much, haha. Anyway, after I use my foundation, I apply Hard Candy Glamoflage concealer under my eyes then blend it out over my cheeks and around my nose. It’s super thick so a little goes a long way. If I have any blemishes, I’ll get those too with a tiny bit of concealer.
2. Would you rather carry a designer bag or wear a pair of designer shoes?
Probably a designer bag, because shoes are too easy to tear up or get dirty. And bags don’t make my feet hurt!
3. What are your five favorite stores right now?
Target, Old Navy, Bath & Body Works (just bought a bunch of stuff during their 75% off sale the other day and I haven’t shopped there in ages!), Trader Joe’s and Sam Moon (a Texas-based accessory store similar to Charming Charlie but cheaper)
4. What was your favorite movie when you were a kid?
Disney’s Beauty & the Beast! I think I saw it in theaters like 4 times and then I was Belle for Halloween, wearing the yellow ball gown which my mom made me wear my purple windbreaker over since it was cold out. Also, The Goonies was another favorite.
5. Do you think you’re more book smart or people smart?
I think I’m more people smart. Although I’m definitely an introvert, I think I’m really good at reading people.

LOL I hit enter before writing anything! Jeez…
I just use the Chanel concealer in B20 over any blemishes and under eyes after the Bobbi Brown tinted eye brightener.
Designer bag, fo’ sho’.
Five fave stores have got to be Sephora, The Bay (Canadian department store, huge selection of stuff), Joe Fresh (very affordable & cute clothes!), I also love LOFT, and probably Lulu Lemon!
The Little Mermaid was my favourite movie! I just love mermaids in general, I’m a Pisces & love all things water/ beach/ ocean!
I think I’m more people smart in general, but I’m going to start a Master’s degree in the fall so I might be a bit book smart too! 🙂
Lauren says
I just moved out of Toronto to Chicago, and miss Joe Fresh so much!! Enjoy!
Meghan says
They’re online too! Often with promo codes for 10-30% off! I wonder if they ship internationally 🙂
Remi says
1. Walk me through your everyday concealer process.
BB cream allover (Maybelline Dream Fresh), spot concealing with a cream concealer (at the moment – Ulta color correcting stick foundation/concealer) where necessary. Set with powder.
2. Would you rather carry a designer bag or wear a pair of designer shoes?
Shoes. SHOOOOOES.
3. What are your five favorite stores right now?
Trader Joes (hellz yah food)
LUSH (I have a weakness for cruelty free bath products with delicious smells)
Jo-Ann’s (I have a need for yarn. Always)
WHBM
Express.
4. What was your favorite movie when you were a kid?
Jurassic Park. (My love for science started with dinosaurs.)
5. Do you think you’re more book smart or people smart?
Book smart. (I’m autistic and people are really difficult for me to parse.)
Trude says
1. Walk me through your everyday concealer process. I use Nars Radiant Creamy (best ever!) under my eyes and on the top of my nose, then Mac Studio Fix anywhere I need extra coverage – usually around my nose and mouth and on my chin.
2. Would you rather carry a designer bag or wear a pair of designer shoes? Definitely a bag, it’ll last so much longer! I wanted to finally find a good, nice everyday bag, and had been stalking one from Fossil for months until I found it on super sale. It was worth the wait and budgeting – I know I really truly love the design, it works for my lifestyle and it’ll last years because I can take care of the leather better than faux leather or cloth.
3. What are your five favorite stores right now? Sephora, Madewell, Loft, Target, CVS. 🙂
4. What was your favorite movie when you were a kid? Probably Hook. Who didn’t love that one?
5. Do you think you’re more book smart or people smart? I think I’m a typical Libra and balance between both. I did really well in school and at work, but I have no problem socially…except for the occasional awkwardness. 🙂
Brittany says
1. Walk me through your everyday concealer process.
Although it would probably help me look for awake, I don’t use concealer. Having a darker skin tone that what is usually catered to in the drugstore makes spending the extra cash necessary for a good match much more daunting.
2. Would you rather carry a designer bag or wear a pair of designer shoes?
I would definitely prefer to carry a designer bag. I think maintaining a bag would be easier than maintaining shoes.
3. What are your five favorite stores right now?
I actually haven’t been doing much shopping as of late… The only stores that come to mind are Walgreens and Sprouts Farmers Market.
4. What was your favorite movie when you were a kid?
The Princess Bride.
5. Do you think you’re more book smart or people smart?
Neither, I have to make an attempt with both to be successful but I’m probably slightly more book smart than people smart.
Lauren says
1) I don’t wear concealer. I own many of them from watching tutorials, but I have never used them.
2) I will walk barefoot for a nice designer BAG! In fact, I wore a pair of Marc Jacobs flats last week and my feet are still torn to shreds. My target shoes felt better.
3) target, club monaco, MAC, lululemon, ULTA
4) GOONIES!
5) People smart. If I apply myself, I can be book smart, but people interest me way more than a text book does.
I’ll join you for another cup of tea…extremely slow start to the day here, too!!
Tracy says
1. I only spot conceal when needed.
2. Definitely a bag.
3. Target, TJ Maxx, CVS, Sephora, Nordstrom
4. Father of the Bride circa 1991. I’ve watched that movie more times than I’d like to admit. But I love it!
5. I’d like to think I’m right in the middle since I got good grades and I’m really good at reading people.
Leticia (Thee Limited Edition) says
1. Walk me through your everyday concealer process.
Luckily I only have to use one, I love the FitMe concealer. It’s got a nice creamy consistency, doesn’t feel heavy but covers up my bags perfectly!
2. Would you rather carry a designer bag or wear a pair of designer shoes?
I’m gonna have to say bag, I tend to gravitate more towards bags over shoes.
3. What are your five favorite stores right now?
Bath & Body Works, Lush, Target and Ulta
4. What was your favorite movie when you were a kid?
I definitely agree with Dirty Dancing! I know that movie line for line!
5. Do you think you’re more book smart or people smart?
I think I’m more people smart but that’s just because people interests me more so than books.
Karen says
Hi Leticia,
I like the FitMe concealer too. I wish it came in more colors!
And yay for Dirty Dancing. 🙂 Here’s something you might enjoy:

Rachel says
1. Walk me through your everyday concealer process.
After applying my foundation, I apply NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer under the eyes, but I use a heavier concealer around my nose and on my acne scars, like MAC Studio Finish.
2. Would you rather carry a designer bag or wear a pair of designer shoes?
Shoes! Fluevogs all day every day!
3. What are your five favorite stores right now?
Sephora, Ulta, uh wait…is there life outside makeup?
4. What was your favorite movie when you were a kid?
Grease. I wanted to be Olivia Newton John
5. Do you think you’re more book smart or people smart?
Book smart, for sure
Anastassia says
I rarely use concealer. Usually at night or when I have to go somewhere special but not in this order.Just the face cream then the foundation and then concealer and above the face powder. Designer bag or designer shoes-big dilemma. It’s fifty-fifty.People smart.
Lulle says
1. Walk me through your everyday concealer process.
That’s pretty simple! Dior BB concealer or theBalm TimeBalm concealer. I apply either (depending on how my skin feels and how much coverage I want) on my under-eye circles and on the side of my nose, where I have visible spider veins.
2. Would you rather carry a designer bag or wear a pair of designer shoes?
A pair of shoes I think. I’m not really a handbag person I guess?
3. What are your five favorite stores right now?
Sprouts (good prices on fresh produce, an interesting natural beauty selection), Dermstore (great selection, a lot of beauty brands you can’t find anywhere else), Old Navy (low prices + constant sales, I buy all my fitness clothes from there), Nordstrom (free shipping all the time and good return policy), Macy’s (just joined the Plenti program, I can use the points I get at Rite Aid to shop at Macy’s!)
4. What was your favorite movie when you were a kid?
The Goonies. I still love that movie.
5. Do you think you’re more book smart or people smart?
Oh clearly book smart. I’ve made progress, but I’m still not a very social person.
LipjunkieNL says
Hi Karen, I always love your Monday polls and your answers. Never participated in one, so here’s my go at it:
1. Walk me through your everyday concealer process.
I mostly use it under my eyes. I always use NW40 studio fix concealer to cover dark circles and then put NC42 Studio Fix concealer to brighten up my under eyes.
2. Would you rather carry a designer bag or wear a pair of designer shoes?
Handbag…I loooove handbags!!
3. What are your five favorite stores right now?
Well, here in Holland we don’t have as much as you do in The States, but I mostly shop at H&M, New Look, Primark, Hema (a Dutch store where you can buy everything; from pots and pans to make-up and clothes) and the Kruidvat (a Dutch drugstore).
4. What was your favorite movie when you were a kid?
Coming to America with Eddie Murphy. I used to think it was so funny, but when I watched it like a few months ago, I suddenly asked myself why… ;p
5. Do you think you’re more book smart or people smart?
I’m an educated woman, so I’d like to think I am more book smart. I’m not really people smart I think; I always search for the good in people.
Carla N. says
1. Walk me through your everyday concealer process. It varies. Sometimes I use only an undereye brightener pencil and foundation. Since I’m mature, I try to go very light on the makeup, and because I’m blessed with decent skin that I take good care of, an extra dab of my lightweight foundation will generally do the trick on any “problem areas” I might have. But when I do get the occasional big ugly zit, I conceal it by dabbing a tiny amount of my Coverfx cream concealer on the spot, after foundation, and patting gently with a damp Beauty Blender to blend. My skin doesn’t look “flawless,” but it looks nice, and I’m a realist. 🙂
2. Would you rather carry a designer bag or wear a pair of designer shoes? I’d go for a bag, because I could carry it with anything.
3. What are your five favorite stores right now? I shop online. My favorite stores at the moment are Talbots.com, occmakeup.com, chicos.com, paulaschoice.com, inglotusa.com, and iherb.com.
4. What was your favorite movie when you were a kid? As a kid, I loved anything with horses in it. As a teenager, I loved “Tootsie.” (told you I’m “mature!” lol)
5. Do you think you’re more book smart or people smart? Probably more book smart – I have a degree in a challenging subject (molecular biology)and I’m obsessive about spelling, grammar, and punctuation. In fact, in college, I finagled my way into an English major’s course, and made a B.
Erin says
1. Walk me through your everyday concealer process.
You won’t believe this Karen, but up until 2 weeks ago I was skipping concealer! I got very, very sick (ambulance and hospital) and I now have hundreds if not thousands of broken capillaries all over my face, neck, and chest from lack of oxygen. I’m back on the concealer wagon to cover them and the two minor black eyes up. NARS RCC is my weapon of choice.
Before that, I was just buffing in a little TM from NARS or the new one from BM. I’ve been on point with my skin, mostly thanks to Sunday Riley and Fresh’s Black Tea Toner, so I was barely needing any coverage at all!
2. Would you rather carry a designer bag or wear a pair of designer shoes?
Probably a bag. I guess it depends on the designer! I don’t wear a lot of heels in my current wardrobe but it boots were on the list of choices, I might have to go with boots.
3. What are your five favorite stores right now?
1. Sephora
2. Nordstrom
3. Anthropologie
4. Trader Joes/Whole Foods
5. Tarjay
4. What was your favorite movie when you were a kid?
Empire Strikes Back, hands down.
5. Do you think you’re more book smart or people smart?
Both!
Carla N. says
Ugh, Erin – that sounds really rough!
I hope you’re okay now!
The fact that you’re worried about concealing your broken capillaries is a good sign – I know from experience that when you feel really awful, you just don’t have the strength to care about your appearance.
Hang in there!
Erin says
Thanks, Carla! I had to care. People kept asking me “How did this happen to you?” while looking at my husband. I looked like I’d been beaten. Now with the black eyes healed, I just look like I have red-violet freckles so they stare a bit less.
Rachel R. says
1. Walk me through your everyday concealer process. I don’t wear a lot of concealer, and my favorites are cheapies. If I have a few zits, I put on foundation first, then e.l.f. Studio Maximum Coverage Concealer – Oil Free in Porcelain on the zits, then powder. If I have dark circles under my eyes from insomnia, I use e.l.f. Studio HD Lifting Concealer in brightening. If my eyelids are dark from insomnia, I use Too Faced Shadow Insurance in Lemon Drop or UD Prime Potion in Envy.
2. Would you rather carry a designer bag or wear a pair of designer shoes? A designer bag. I have wide feet and probably wouldn’t even fit in designer shoes.
3. What are your five favorite stores right now? I mostly shop online: Overstock.com, Sephora.com, Torrid.com, Plasticland, and Think Geek are some favorites. Brick and mortar: Sephora, Target, Michael’s Crafts, Fred Meyer and the Dollar Tree. I have way too much fun at the Dollar Tree.
4. What was your favorite movie when you were a kid? Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and The Beatles Yellow Submarine.
5. Do you think you’re more book smart or people smart? Book smart
Aenea says
1. Walk me through your everyday concealer process.
Concealer goes after primer and foundation. I put them on dark spots and under the eyes. Most days though, I can’t be bothered wearing concealer because it’s too difficult to even out.
2. Would you rather carry a designer bag or wear a pair of designer shoes?
Bags. I’ve thought of buying designer shoes (especially the Valentino rockstud ones), but can never shell out a thousand bucks for something that I’ll just be stepping on. It seems impractical. But, if I win the lotto, I’d definitely buy one.
3. What are your five favorite stores right now?
I live down under so it’s Mecca Maxima (for makeup), Myer (because of their great sales), Priceline (chemist), Sportsgirl (clothes), and the grocery (it’s like we’re needing to do groceries everyday!).
4. What was your favorite movie when you were a kid?
Beauty and the Beast.
5. Do you think you’re more book smart or people smart?
Booksmart. People are hard to read.
Efrain says
1. Walk me through your everyday concealer process.
Just foundation (powder or liquid) if I’m in the mood I’ll slap more foundation where needed but I’m really low maintenance in terms of concealing lately the only thing I’m thinking about doing is getting a yellow concealer because I can’t find a low-cost foundation yellow enough, so I’d mix both.
2. Would you rather carry a designer bag or wear a pair of designer shoes?
The bag because I’m sure it’ll last more years than the shoes.
3. What are your five favorite stores right now?
Bellísima (a low-cost makeup store), Forever21, Sephora, H&M and … maybe Walmart? Just because they have makeup on sale right now.
4. What was your favorite movie when you were a kid?
Can you believe if I told you that I can’t really remember? But maybe Mulan.
5. Do you think you’re more book smart or people smart?
I think I’m good at both (not perfect I can do both well).
Vijaya says
1. Walk me through your everyday concealer process.
I don’t wear concealer. Just foundation, if that.
2. Would you rather carry a designer bag or wear a pair of designer shoes?
Bag! Shoes are on the ground, where there might be gum or dog doo or other people stepping on your beautiful, beautiful shoes.
3. What are your five favorite stores right now?
Trader Joe’s (their potted plants are shockingly cheap!), Barnes and Noble, Amazon (I read like a beast in the summer), Petco… Does Panera count as a store? I can only think of those four!
4. What was your favorite movie when you were a kid?
Mulan!
5. Do you think you’re more book smart or people smart?
Book smart. Sometimes I am so AWKWARD.
Sara says
1. Walk me through your everyday concealer process.
I just dab some on any spots, around my nose and under my eyes and set with a powder. I’ve been using Nars creamy concealer forever and just started using Laura Mercier translucent setting powder. It’s a great combo!
2. Would you rather carry a designer bag or wear a pair of designer shoes?
Um both haha how can I decide?! Ahhh I guess shoes!
3. What are your five favorite stores right now?
Very similar to yours actually! Trader Joes-because hello of course haha I make a trip once a week!
For clothes- the only place I shop is pretty much Loft. However I recently have been ordering online at Nordstrom. And of course Sephora- can’t forget that. Banana Republic is also a favorite!
4. What was your favorite movie when you were a kid? How can I choose?! I guess when I was really little it would have to be wizard of oz. But Father of the Bride was probably my favorite and still is!
5. Do you think you’re more book smart or people smart?
Definitely not book smart haha so people!
Katherine M says
1. Walk me through your everyday concealer process.
~I don’t do much undereye concealer unless I’m looking particularly tired, or I feel like I need it. I do zit/dark spot concealer daily, and I am currently using Almay with salicylic acid with Garnier BB Cream with Salicylic Acid. It helps keep the zits at bay with the summer sweatiness and oil.
2. Would you rather carry a designer bag or wear a pair of designer shoes?
~That’s a tough one, but shopping at Nordstrom Rack and TJ Maxx I can afford both shoes AND the bag. Sometimes at Nordstrom Rack you will see brands like Michael Kors and Franco Sarto for up to 75% off. I have a pair of Franco Sarto heels that were originally $180, but I got them for $20 at Nordstrom Rack.
3. What are your five favorite stores right now?
~TJ Maxx, Sephora, Ulta, Target, and Bed Bath and Beyond.
4. What was your favorite movie when you were a kid?
~I was in love with the Homeward Bound series.
5. Do you think you’re more book smart or people smart?
~I would say that I am both – I am very well-read, especially when I research different things, but I can also get a very good read on most people (as to whether I can trust them or not). When I want to know something, I research it, and I also know who I can talk to about the topic.
Jen says
1. Concealer process: Dab on MAC Highlighter in Radiant Rose, followed by Bobbi Brown’s Corrector in Extra Light Bisque. Then a slight dusting of MACs Mineralized Skinfinish in Light-Medium.
2. Designer shoes!!!
3. Fav 5 stores: Target, Home Depot (ha! I’m in the middle of a bunch of DIY home projects), the GAP, Sephora (duh), and Etsy.
4. Fav movie as kid: Star Wars, the Empire Strikes Back!!! Han and Leia, all the way!
5. Book or people smart: Definitely book smart. I pretty perceptive about people but can’t translate my awareness into good action. I have my foot in my mouth a lot. 🙂

1. Walk me through your everyday concealer process.
Moisturizer, primer (usually Smashbox under eye primer), YSL Touche Eclat and either MAC Pro Long Wear Concealer or NARS concealer
2. Would you rather carry a designer bag or wear a pair of designer shoes? Designer bag for sure!
3. What are your five favorite stores right now?
Sephora, LOFT, Gap, Ebay, Amazon
4. What was your favorite movie when you were a kid?
Trading Places
5. Do you think you’re more book smart or people smart?
People smart, my husband is book smart and sometimes I have to explain subtleties in movies or TV shows because he tends to be very literal. I’m slightly fascinated with how things that seem obvious to me are not at all to him.

1. Mostly working on my eye circles with a peach cream base and concealer over it. I feel I haven’t quite got the right moves down yet though, because it often exaggerates my little wrinkles and lines there.
2. Designer bag, by far! I have wide feet, so shoes (especially heels) don’t appeal to me at all. Give me sneaks every single day.
3. Mac store, Amazon, and a few indie bath and scentsy stores.
4. Footloose. Kick off your Sunday shoes. Or maybe Grease. I love the “musicals” too.
5. I’m pretty good at reading people– whether they’re trustworthy or not– but I’m not really a people person, so I have to say I think I’m more book smart. Good grades, good at tests, etc.

I know it’s Tuesday but imma still answer the poll!
1. Walk me through your everyday concealer process: Easy, I don’t apply any.
2. Would you rather carry a designer bag or wear a pair of designer shoes? Designer shoes I think, tough choice!
3. What are your five favorite stores right now? Depends… are we talking national or worldwide here? 🙂
4. What was your favorite movie when you were a kid? I loved Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast. Oh and Back to the Future!
5. Do you think you’re more book smart or people smart? I want to say a bit of both. I don’t consider myself super book smart, but I’m not dumb either.

Hi Karen! Hope you had a great Monday. I’m a little late on the poll but doing it anyway 🙂
1. Walk me through your everyday concealer process.
I am actually pretty new to concealer, which is absolutely shocking considering 1) the extent of my makeup obsession and 2) the monstrocities that live under my eyes. I think I tried a couple bad ones and just thought they didn’t work for me. I have some MAC Pro Longwear on the way (!), but right now I’m using some drugstore concealer. I put on a BB cream, then apply the concealer (it’s thin, on a wand), then blend with a Bare Minerals concealer brush that I’ve hard for years. Then, I apply my MAC Skinfinish and finish my face.
2. Would you rather carry a designer bag or wear a pair of designer shoes?
Oh, man. You’re making me dig deep. I’m gonna go with bag, even though my shoe obsession is strengthening lately.
3. What are your five favorite stores right now?
Homegoods is always a fav. I can spend hours in there. Loving Alter’d State lately, and Shop Hope’s is one of my favorite places for clothes. I’ve been finding great shoes at Dillard’s, plus they have MAC. I love Loft, too. I had to unsubscribe from the emails for a while because it was getting out of hand. Who can resist a sale? Not me.
4. What was your favorite movie when you were a kid?
Scamper the Penguin. I’ve seen it a million times.
5. Do you think you’re more book smart or people smart?
I like to think a little of both. I’m in law school now, and in my first internship, I have discovered just how much I NEED to be around people. Sitting behind a desk all day is not my forte.
Happy Tuesday!

1. Walk me through your everyday concealer process.
Corrector under my eyes with Maybelline Fit me Concealer on top, and some heavier concealer on spots, but without going overboard these days.
2. Would you rather carry a designer bag or wear a pair of designer shoes?
Shoes. my bag is put through so much, i couldn’t justify doing this to a designer bag.
3. What are your five favorite stores right now?
Uhm, MAC, MAC, MAC, Mango and Zara.
4. What was your favorite movie when you were a kid?
The Last Unicorn. I still cry my eyes out everytime.

1. Walk me through your everyday concealer process: I’ve only recently started to apply concealer on a regular basis. Probably because I just learned how to do it correctly and found the right products. I moisturize, then prime with chaffing gel. Then I use this little trick I learned from youtube where I pat some coral/orange lipstick into the darkest parts of my undereye circles. They say to use a brush but I just use my little finger instead. It works just as well. It neutralizes the circles. I let that set and dry for a bit. Then I apply a very thin layer of foundation all over using my beauty blender. Then I dot some concealer (liquid) under my eyes, by my nose and right next to my lips because I have a couple little dark lines there that make me look frowny. I blend that out with beauty blender too. And that’s it.
2. Would you rather carry a designer bag or wear a pair of designer shoes? Bag!!! I am no longer able to wear super high heels and such. So its a waste to go for designer shoes. I settle for low heeled cole haans or aerosoles.
3. What are your five favorite stores right now? Trader Joe’s, H&M, Target, The Limited, World Market.
4. What was your favorite movie when you were a kid? I didn’t watch movies really. I still don’t for the most part.
5. Do you think you’re more book smart or people smart? Both really but more book smart than people smart. I see myself losing out on things because I don’t play the right games but I really don’t care to indulge in those myself. I’m better off sticking to the simple path of doing my best and enjoying my self.

1. Walk me through your everyday concealer process.
Hmm…I use 3 different kinds. I use Smashbox Photofinish under my eyes. Then I correct undereyes with IT cosmetics bye bye undereye. I like MUFE Full Cover over Hourglass mineral primer for the rest of my face. Set with powder.
2. Would you rather carry a designer bag or wear a pair of designer shoes? Designer bag–hands down. Comfort is top priority in shoe-shopping bc if I can’t bear to wear them for a few hours–then the shoes are just going to sit in my closet.
3. What are your five favorite stores right now? Amazon–I order from them ALL the time bc I have a kindle and I need all sorts of stuff that I can’t get in my town. Sephora for online, Ulta for walk-in, JCrew online, and CVS for all their extrabucks deals.
4. What was your favorite movie when you were a kid? Hmmm…it’s a tie between Back to the Future, Star Wars or The Little Mermaid.
5. Do you think you’re more book smart or people smart? I think I have a little bit of both. I’m not quite as book-smart as most book-smart people and not quite as people-smart as people who are generally just people-smart. Just call me Jack I guess.
