Makeup and Beauty Blog Monday Poll, Vol. 370

The Makeup and Beauty Blog Monday Poll

You might be wondering, “So what in tarnation is this Monday Poll thing anyway!?”

Well, it isn’t exactly a poll. It’s more of a constantly evolving (devolving?), somewhat random list of questions I’ve been putting out to readers every Monday morning for the past seven years. (It’s like a kickstart for your brain.) I’ve always enjoyed reading your answers in the comments, and I hope you enjoy reading mine.

  1. Have you ever seen someone in real life who looks like they could be your twin/doppelgänger?
I wish! And if I did, I would definitely take a twinsies selfie of us with my phone.

Someday, it’ll happen…and it will be awesome. Hopefully she’ll be a cat lady, too.

Sometimes I will hear that I look like somebody’s sister or aunt or mom, or like Reese Witherspoon, which I take as a total compliment because I think she’s adorable.

  2. What do you think of the new Apple Watch, and would you wear it?
Gurl, I walked by the Apple Store yesterday (on my way to the Chanel counter), and I didn’t even want to go inside and take a look. I just… I have my good ‘ol watch with, like, the dial and the two little hands, and that’s all I need.

I just feel like I already carry my phone with me all over the place, and I don’t really need a smart watch to tell me what’s already on my phone.

  3. Sometimes when I open my mouth…
…crazy cat lady stuff comes out.

VERY crazy cat lady stuff — so crazy that even I’m surprised I say it, like, “It’s kitten season!” which I say every single time we drive by the Marin County Humane Society.

El Hub is so sick of hearing it. He’ll say, “Sweetie! Every season is kitten season!”

    And I’ll just nod. “I know.” 🙂

  4. Do you see yourself as more of a bohemian, or a glamour gal?
This one’s tough because I like the relaxed ease of the bohemian look, but I don’t really feel like it’s 100% me…because I’m not all that relaxed. I definitely see myself as more of a glamour gal. I feel more comfortable when I’m a little more dressed up and put together. I think that’s more my style.

  5. What do you typically wear to work?
Well, here at Tabs the Cat Industries LLC, the dress code is very strict (not really). Although it’s tempting to wear workout clothes all the time, mostly I dress as though I’m going to a regular office. It just helps get me in the mindset of what I’m gonna do for the day, so I guess you could call it business casual. Right now I’m wearing a cute pair of chambray scalloped shorts and a kind of secretary-ish sleeveless blouse because it’s supposed to be hot here today.

Your turn. 🙂 Just copy and paste the following questions into a comment with your answers. I look forward to reading ’em!

2. What do you think of the new Apple Watch, and would you wear it?
3. Sometimes when I open my mouth…
4. Do you see yourself as more of a bohemian, or a glamour gal?
5. What do you typically wear to work?

Hi, friend. This is random, but do you want some cilantro? My little deck garden is slowly but surely coming along, and my cilantro plant is by far dominating all of the other herbs.

So cilantro is in the house.

I hope you’re doing well today. I’m feeling much better — like, emotionally. I know that sounds goofy, but it’s true (thank you again for your kindness and support).

I’ve been making a lot of headway on Operation Get Your Sh*t Together. I did a bunch of things that I’ve been wanting to do but just haven’t done, like I removed a tall, narrow bookshelf that wasn’t much help, moved my desk to a different side of the room, and I ordered this HUGE behemoth of a shelving system.

This is probably gonna sound crazy…but it’s pink.

Hot pink.

And it’s made out of stainless steel.

So, I don’t know if it exactly reads “office chic,” but I found it on Amazon, and it’s not crazy expensive. Hopefully it alleviates some of my storage issues.

Anyway, enough about that! Have a great day today, and I’ll talk to you soon.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

    1. Have you ever seen someone in real life who looks like they could be your twin/doppelgänger?
There used to be a friend of mine in high school that people would SWEAR was either me or my sister. I didn’t see it, but we got mistaken for each other all the time! I also had a friend who was convinced I looked like Eva Longoria when I had longer hair (I don’t see it).
One I DO see, though, is Opal (Bei Fong ?) from Legend of Korra. I SWEAR it’s like someone took a picture of me and then drew her. She acts, speaks, moves, and just all around LOOKS exactly like me. It’s kind of insane.

    2. What do you think of the new Apple Watch, and would you wear it?
I don’t think I would. I would feel very obnoxious talking to my wrist or being like, “EVERYONE HANG ON I GOT THIS” to get directions or check the weather. Meh.

    3. Sometimes when I open my mouth…
I go off on a rant about feminism, sexism, or racism. I can’t help it. I really can’t. I just think it’s important not to become complacent with the way things are, and it’s valuable to be able to detect problematic situations/messages in what’s around us.

    4. Do you see yourself as more of a bohemian, or a glamour gal?
I am nowhere NEAR chill enough to be bohemian. My sister pulls it off flawlessly, but I’m more the polished, not-a-hair-out-of-place glamour gal. I take pride in looking put together.

    5. What do you typically wear to work?
Slacks, heels (or flats), and a nice sweater/blouse. Business casual 🙂

YAY for feeling better and your steps towards getting your shit together. I may sound like a nerd but I love to browse ikea’s website trying to find the best ways to organize things (do not ask me though how often I actually use them, please)

    As for the poll:
    1. Have you ever seen someone in real life who looks like they could be your twin/doppelgänger?
Nope, and I think it would freak me out! Though I once had an English teacher that could have passed as Einstein, I swear!
    2. What do you think of the new Apple Watch, and would you wear it? Gadgets are not for me. My mobile phone is slowly dieing on me and just thinking about buying ($$$$$!!!!) a new one gets me gah!
    3. Sometimes when I open my mouth…
Stupid shit about my dog comes out! Yep, if there ever was a crazy dog lady I must be the poster girl. All my coworkers (bless them for letting me go on and on) know all about my crazy Dalmatian’s adventures. Well, I bet that now many people can say that their dog ate a cactus or that their dog loves sitting on the terrace’s table (perfect surveying spot) but is afraid of jumping down
    4. Do you see yourself as more of a bohemian, or a glamour gal? I am not sure I can trully pull off bohemian neither glamour gal, so I am a weird mixture there in the middle
    5. What do you typically wear to work? I have a uniform. Fortunately this year they changed our shirt to a more flattering purple one. The light blue one was crap and made me look like a bus driver!

  3. Ruchita says:

    1. Have you ever seen someone in real life who looks like they could be your twin/doppelgänger?
No, I haven’t. Although years ago, a couple of friends said they saw someone that looked a lot like me. That would be so weird!

    2. What do you think of the new Apple Watch, and would you wear it?
I never wear a watch, so a fancy one like this isn’t on my radar.

    3. Sometimes when I open my mouth…
I will end up eating one too many chococlate chip cookies. 🙂 Or I usually say something sarcastic.

    4. Do you see yourself as more of a bohemian, or a glamour gal?
Definitely more glamour. I like classic lines with a clean, simple look and some makeup.

    5. What do you typically wear to work?
In the summer, I wear dresses all the time. I love having to just put on one piece of clothing and be ready. I found some cute ones at Nordstrom Rack and the Land’s End fit and flare dresses are so comfortable. I bought a couple of those in fun colors. In the fall/winter, I’m in skinny jeans tucked into boots. It keeps me warm and is necessary in snowy weather.

Happy Monday! I follow a few Instagram accounts that feature foster kittens, and there is so much cuteness. 🙂 I really want to try and be a foster at least once, like maybe through a shelter. It would be for a good cause and I would have kittens in my house. 🙂

    • Karen says:

I think you would be a great foster kitty mom. And your kitty kids would be good teachers! What are the names of the Instagram accounts you follow?

      • Ruchita says:

Aww, thanks! I think Nina would be a good foster sister, but I worry about Mingus and Ella getting stressed out. Some of the ones with new fosters are foster_kittens, bethostern and love2foster. At least I can get my virtual kitten fix for now. 🙂

        • Karen says:

Thank you! Virtual kittens are better than nothing. I get my fix from our local pet store. They host adoptable cats every week. Whenever I go in to get food for Tabs I always say hello.

          • Ruchita says:

Aww, that’s sweet that you say hi to the pet store kitties. That would be hard for me because I’d want to take them all home. 🙂
P.S. Nina says hi. She’s sitting next to me purring up a storm!

          • Karen says:

It’s very hard to walk away from them. Last week there was an adorable brother and sister pair. The brother was an outgoing love-bug with gray tabby markings on his legs and face. His sister was a black cat who hung back at first but after a few minutes was all love. They were so cute! I hope they find their forever home very soon.

Hi, Nina! *pets cheeks and chin*

          • Ruchita says:

They sound adorable! Paws crossed that they’re not there next time, so hopefully they got adopted.

          • Karen says:

They were both so sweet and outgoing so I’m sure they’ll find their assistants in no time. Seriously, though, if I was an eccentric billionaire I’d just rescue cats all day long!

  4. Lulle says:

    1. Have you ever seen someone in real life who looks like they could be your twin/doppelgänger?
No, and I’d rather not. It would freak me out!

    2. What do you think of the new Apple Watch, and would you wear it?
To be honest I think it’s lame. But then I’m not an Apple person at all. Last year I got an Ipad and I was shocked at how little I can do with it compared to an Android device. I feel like Apple is the new Microsoft, they limit your choices and options instead of making you more free!
Plus I don’t even wear a regular watch. I haven’t for at least 10 years, so I’m not gonna start wearing an annoying one with a ton of useless features.

    3. Sometimes when I open my mouth…
something comes out that sounded so much better in my head… I tend to speak my mind and I know sometimes it sounds harsh.

    4. Do you see yourself as more of a bohemian, or a glamour gal?
Both, depending on the moment. Probably more bohemian in the attitude and more glamour for the style.

    5. What do you typically wear to work?
I’m looking for a job right now so I don’t have this problem. But my previous job had a very casual business dress code (like the only things you couldn’t wear were jeans and sneakers), but I tried to wear dress pants and button-up shirts most of the time. Turns out people thought I looked “serious” which is not a bad reputation at work!

  5. Kwmechelle says:

    1. Have you ever seen someone in real life who looks like they could be your twin/doppelgänger? YES! It’s so strange! She’s from Nigeria & I’m not. But the freakiest part, by far, is that we act alike. Though we went to separate colleges, we had mutual friends who confused us. And once we became friends, we’d tell peeps we were sisters & they believed us! She’s even shown her kiddies pics of me & they thought it was her! Best of all, we have remained sisters to this day. Spent a lot of time with her & her family on my road trip. Fun times =)

    2. What do you think of the new Apple Watch, and would you wear it? Not. Interested. I’m the least techie person I know.

    3. Sometimes when I open my mouth… I laugh. At silly things. And I’m so child-like.

    4. Do you see yourself as more of a bohemian, or a glamour gal? A bit of both. I love boho-chic. Long, flowing skirts with strappy heels/wedges, & big statement earrings. But, true to my style, I glam this look up with stylish makeup & Marley twists- a la Denise Huckstable (The Cosby show). Of course my makeup has to be “did” so I’m definitely glamour, too, which might be how my friends would characterize me.

    5. What do you typically wear to work? Well, I no longer work but when I did work it was mostly business casual with moments of being totally corporate (think Ann Taylor). Now I think I wear more looks between the Gap, Old Navy, H&M, and Free People. Yeah, I’m a bit eclectic. And wear makeup just to walk around the house =)

    • Karen says:

What a special relationship you have with your twin! You are so lucky to have found her. I’m happy that you enjoyed your trip. Are you home now?

Um, and props to the Denise Huxtable shout-out. She was my style icon back in the day. I loved her oversized sweaters and big earrings!

  6. Erin says:

    1. Have you ever seen someone in real life who looks like they could be your twin/doppelgänger?

I haven’t seen them but I know they exist. Several people have told me about her. I’ve also been mistaken for Alyson Hannigan.

    2. What do you think of the new Apple Watch, and would you wear it?

I like it and yes I would. I’m not sure I’d buy it but I’d be happy to get it as a gift.

    3. Sometimes when I open my mouth…

Things I don’t mean tumble out. It’s hard to reverse childhood programming.

    4. Do you see yourself as more of a bohemian, or a glamour gal?

Both. Glam Boho is my middle name! Yeah Baby!

    5. What do you typically wear to work?

Since I’m only working on my blog right now, yoga pants and tee’s with the occasional maxi skirt.

When I work for someone else, trousers or trouser jeans and blouses. Or a tee with a cardi.

  7. Agata says:

    1. Have you ever seen someone in real life who looks like they could be your twin/doppelgänger?
Not really although everyone always says me and my best friend Sarah look very similar and people assume all the time that we are sisters.

    2. What do you think of the new Apple Watch, and would you wear it?
I am not an Apple girl, I have an Android phone so first I’d need an iPhone. My husband on the other hand..

    3. Sometimes when I open my mouth…
I say random Polish words. It must be an impulse since it’s still my first language. It’s silly.

    4. Do you see yourself as more of a bohemian, or a glamour gal?
    Definitely glamour! All the way!

    5. What do you typically wear to work?
I work from home so anything is acceptable. Usually it’s a pair of yoga pants and a T-shirt. I wish I worked somewhere that I could dress up for!

Happy Monday, Karen! I am glad your project Organize is coming along and that you’ve made some progress! I am proud of you!

Happy Monday to you too, Agata!

I think that it’s so cute that Polish pops out of your mouth on occasion. Does your hubby speak the language, too?

      • Agata says:

He speaks a little bit of Polish, not enough to communicate but he understands a lot. So if I say something, especially in context of the situation, he will figure out what I am talking about.

        • Karen says:

Same thing with El Hub. I’m no longer fluent in Tagalog but I know bits and pieces, and if I say a sentence with a few words he’s able to put it together. Funny how context and tone can carry a conversation along, huh?

          • Agata says:

I didn’t know you could speak another language, that’s cool. I wish language could stay with us like learning to ride a bike and even if you didn’t use it, you’d still remember it. I could speak French and quite good Spanish but I mostly forgot both.

Sometimes I swear in Polish under my nose but unfortunately, my husband can understand that too, lol.

          • Karen says:

I did when I was a small child. When I came to the US I spoke two — Tagalog and the dialect from my parent’s region. I still understand Tagalog, but it’s the kind that’s spoken around the house, not the type used in the news. And I completely lost my mom and dad’s dialect. There are a few words that I remember here and there, but it’s SO different. Tagalog to my ear sounds very loose and almost sing-songy, but my mom and dad’s dialect is staccato and almost sharp. Hard to explain. I wish I could still speak them both! Now I only know the bad words and how to order food. LOL.

  8. Vanessa says:

Cheers to the shelves and organization!

    • Karen says:

I’m so excited about the shelves, you don’t even know. I also did a TON of decluttering, which has lifted a huge weight off my shoulders. There’s still a ton to do but at least it’s a start, right?

  9. Leah G. says:

    1. Have you ever seen someone in real life who looks like they could be your twin/doppelgänger?
When I was a kid I saw my “twin” in a Bradlee’s flyer. Bradlees was sort of like JCPenny back in the day only with Target quality clothes.
    2. What do you think of the new Apple Watch, and would you wear it?
I tried it on. It’s okay. I’m so happy with my diving watch (not that I dive but I do wear it in the water!). I’ve had it since 1998 it was a gift from my husband.

    3. Sometimes when I open my mouth… I say things that are better left unsaid.
    4. Do you see yourself as more of a bohemian, or a glamour gal?
Bohemian but I’m also sometimes preppy.

    5. What do you typically wear to work? Jeans. Today I’m wearing a cute dress that I got from Stitch Fix! Karen, I feel that you would be totally into Stitch Fix! Are you familiar with it?

    • Karen says:

      Hey Leah,

I’m not! I just looked it up and it looks really neat. How long have you been doing it? Do you usually get things that you want to keep? TELL ME MOAR!! lol

  10. Tatiana says:

    1. Have you ever seen someone in real life who looks like they could be your twin/doppelgänger? No, can’t say I have. My daughter had a doppleganger in her class in high school. In person they didn’t look so much alike because V was about 6 inches taller than my K. But in photos everyone was always mixing them up.
    2. What do you think of the new Apple Watch, and would you wear it? If someone gave me one with a new iPhone 6 to go with it, sure I’d wear it. I love the TV ads for it. But right now, I’m Ok without owning one.
    3. Sometimes when I open my mouth…
Crazy cat lady and horse lady stuff comes out. I’m afraid I bore people with it.
    4. Do you see yourself as more of a bohemian, or a glamour gal?
Definitely not bohemian. Or at least not what I think of as boho. I prefer to stylish clothes.
    5. What do you typically wear to work?
Long sleeved sun shirt and jeans and muck boots or breeches and tall boots. Helmet or wide brimmed sun hat. Or painted up jeans and tees.

  11. Julia Alkaseltzer says:

Hope you are having a wonderful Monday, Karen!

    1. Have you ever seen someone in real life who looks like they could be your twin/doppelgänger?
I have a twin sister, she’s 3 minutes older than me. We are fraternal. Though I have actually seen someone who could be my doppleganger! I was in the 2nd grade and a school friend took a girl from the playground to me telling me that the girl looked a lot like me. I was like “Whatever-you know I have a twin!” But when I saw the girl, she stopped me dead in my tracks and left me speechless. She could’ve been my *actual* twin!

    2. What do you think of the new Apple Watch, and would you wear it?
I haven’t paid much attention to the Apple Watch hype. My sister (twin, haha) said that one could pretend to be a Power Ranger with its telecommunicator capabilities. That’s cool and all, but.. my phone is distracting enough. 🙂

    3. Sometimes when I open my mouth…
I say the silliest, wittiest things and sometimes I don’t intend to be so. It’s just in my nature x)

    4. Do you see yourself as more of a bohemian, or a glamour gal?
I think I’m more glamour, especially in makeup. Bold!

    5. What do you typically wear to work?
A cool blouse and work pants x) Though I love the months I get to wear dresses and skirts, so much fun!

    • Karen says:

      Hi Julia,

My Monday is going great so far. I’m about to do some more cleaning/decluttering and I’m VERY excited about it.

That’s cool that you have a twin, by the way. Do you guys have any special ways of communicating? I’ve read stories where twins can tell what the other one’s feeling, that kind of thing. I always thought it would be neat to have a twin.

      • Julia Alkaseltzer says:

There aren’t any special communication techniques between me and my twin, but there are always moments when we say things at the same time, or when one of us makes a comment, and then a few minutes later the other says the exact same thing. We call it the “Freaky Twin Thing”. 🙂

  12. Rachel R. says:

    1. Have you ever seen someone in real life who looks like they could be your twin/doppelgänger? No, but when I started at my high school, everyone asked me if I was related to the same girl, who apparently looked just like me. I never saw her, and she must have graduated before me. Double weird, because it was a very small school.

I haven’t met them in person, but my two cousins look exactly like me, except my uncle’s daughter has dark blond hair and blue eyes, and my aunt’s daughter has dark brown hair and eyes.

    2. What do you think of the new Apple Watch, and would you wear it? I am not a fan of apple, and I hate wearing wristwatches, so “no thanks.”

    3. Sometimes when I open my mouth…women get upset. I tend to just say things directly, because I’ve grown up around more men than women my whole life. Most women don’t respond well to that style, and they’ll get offended, even if it’s not remotely insulting or critical. Like, just everyday things I say. Or they’ll think I’m mad at them when I’m not. I have to really make sure I couch things in woman-speak.

    4. Do you see yourself as more of a bohemian, or a glamour gal?
    Glamour gal all the way.

    5. What do you typically wear to work? I am a caregiver to my adult son right now, so I wear whatever I want. Usually nice casual. Today I have on a tangerine maxi-skirt, and a coral T-shirt with tangerine streaks and glittery peacock design, and red wedges. Hair in a low ponytail. Neutral eyes with coral lids and sheer coral lipstick.

    • Karen says:

      Hi Rachel,

Your outfit today sounds so colorful and fun! Every day should be a coral day. 🙂

I hope you had a nice weekend! Did you do anything interesting or fun?

      • Rachel R. says:

The weather is sunny and 79F after being cold and rainy all last week, so I had to wear sunny colors to celebrate. I meant to do something fun this weekend, but didn’t. It was still a nice enough weekend. My older son came home last night after being at my brothers-in-law’s for the last week. We stayed up way too late watching Russell Brand and Gabriel Iglesias on Netflix.

        Have a wonderful day. <3

        • Karen says:

It’s warm where I’m at too! I’m wearing shorts and a sleeveless shirt, and I’m celebrating the sunshine.

Long nights spent watching Netflix are the best, by the way. So are tv marathons! Right now I’m in between shows (just finished Girls on HBO). If you know of any good ones on Netflix let me know.

Enjoy the rest of your afternoon. Yay, sunshine!

          • Rachel R. says:

I’m still working my way through The Walking Dead and American Horror Story. I plan on starting Bates Motel. I’ll have to see what the latest series offerings on Netflix are.

  13. Tulipthecat says:

    1. Have you ever seen someone in real life who looks like they could be your twin/doppelgänger?

No I haven’t seen one of myself but I have seen ones for other people I know. I remember when I was younger that if you see a doppelganger that it was probably your evil twin so you are suppose to kill it before it kills you. But I would take a selfie first.

    2. What do you think of the new Apple Watch, and would you wear it?

I have a hard enough time wearing a regular watch much less an Apple watch. I always forget my watch.

    3. Sometimes when I open my mouth…

Strange things come out…All my friends know me as the “What if” girl. Every question comes out as what if ….. Hey I’m trying to keep everyone prepared 🙂

    4. Do you see yourself as more of a bohemian, or a glamour gal?

I like the glamour gal style but it’s too much to do all the time. I like the free spirit bohemian thing but it’s too hippy like for me. I’m more of a casual chic / loves exercise clothes type of person

    5. What do you typically wear to work?

I usually wear a tunic type of top and leggings. I love leggings and could live in them.

    • Karen says:

Please tell Jazmine she looks great in her lioncut. Do you think Tulip will be next?

      Happy Monday!

      • Tulipthecat says:

Jazmine says “Thanks”. She’s been prancing around the house like she’s a kitten. It was a mobile grooming company that gave Jazmine her haircut and wash. Tulip just stared at the van. When Jazmine came back Tulip was freaked out for 2 days. She thought Jazmine was a new cat. She followed her around the house and is still watching her suspiciously. When Jazmine was sitting next to me Tulip smelled her and growled at her. I had to separate them.

Tulip will not be getting a lion cut since she’s a short hair cat but she’s going to the vet today to get her updated shots and the doctor needs to look at her ears and neck. I think she has some sort of allergy.

Tell Tabs “hi” from us. I’m glad that you are feeling much better Karen!!!

        • Karen says:

The same thing happened to my friend Keri’s cats when they all got lion cuts. When they got home they fought for a week! I hope it passes soon.

You can do a lion cut on a short hair kitty too! I’ve seen it on them, although the impact isn’t nearly as dramatic of course.

Is Tulip good about going to the vet? Tabs HATES it. He cries in the carrier the whole time. 🙁

          • Tulipthecat says:

Tulip cries all the way to the vet, at the office, and on the way home. Poor Tulip had to get shots for her allergies and she had her vaccination shot too so she’s not so happy today.

Poor thing! Tabs is the same way. Little do they know it’s for their own good.

I hope Tulip got some treats and extra love for her troubles.

  14. 1. Have you ever seen someone in real life who looks like they could be your twin/doppelgänger?
Not actually seen on the street, but on a picture. She was modeling plus size underwear and I had just turned 18. It was quite a laugh among my friends.

    2. What do you think of the new Apple Watch, and would you wear it?
I don’t wear a watch, I rely on my phone anyways, so I don’t think I´d wear it.

    3. Sometimes when I open my mouth…
I shut it again quickly because I have a very sharp tongue paired with a soft and kind heart and have learned over the years that I sometimes hurt people without intending to.

    4. Do you see yourself as more of a bohemian, or a glamour gal?
I love the bohemian look, but I guess I am a glamour gal at heart.

    5. What do you typically wear to work?
Well, a blue tunic and a pair of blue trousers which are neither flattering nor form fitting, paired with some trainers.
And business casual for driving there, so I get some use out of my wardrobe…

Hope you are off to a great week. Mine started rainy with lots of laundry to be done, so it can only go uphill from here!

Ack, I have to do laundry too. What is it about laundry? It feels like I’m always doing mine. I read somewhere that it helps to spread it out by doing a load a day — I think I’m going to try that this week. 🙂

Hope you had a nice weekend. Did you guys do anything fun?

      • I don’t have enough time during the week to do one load of laundry each day, I prefer to ruin just one afternoon. If done otherwise I would feel like I am either working or doing laundry and that would make me very unhappy.

Speaking of which: I was on call all weekend and of course had to work all day long, so no fun activities here at Casa Loca.

What have you been up to?

  15. Shannon says:

    1. Have you ever seen someone in real life who looks like they could be your twin/doppelgänger?
Not really. I’ve heard rumors of friends who know my dopplegangers, old-coworker or past-friend type of things, but I’ve never met anyone. People used to get me & my sister confused ALL the time when we were little – we’re only a year apart. We do look pretty similar, but definitely aren’t identical!
    2. What do you think of the new Apple Watch, and would you wear it?
meh… I still haven’t really checked it out. Maybe in the future, but I’m just not interested right now.
    3. Sometimes when I open my mouth…
I start sharing details of things that I don’t mean to open up about. Usually about my own life. Not like HUGE deals, but things I wouldn’t willingly put out there! I’m like, “what, brain? Why did you think that was a good idea to share? That was idiotic.” #sigh
    4. Do you see yourself as more of a bohemian, or a glamour gal?
mm, definitely leaning toward the bohemian. I like being relaxed and a little eclectic 🙂
    5. What do you typically wear to work?
My day job is business wear (not business casual), but I probably err on the slightly more informal side of that. I’ve been wearing gray or black “slacks” (stretchy-ish pants that look professional and decent in boots) and a buttondown top – preferably one that doesn’t need ironing. I kinda lean toward a “trendy and put-together grad student” sort of look, if that makes sense! lol.

So glad things are looking up a bit, Karen! Hugs, hugs, and more hugs.

    • Karen says:

      Hi Shannon,

I can see you working that grad-student look, for sure. 🙂

Thank you for the hugs…I will take them.

Did you have a nice weekend? I hope so!

That storage rack is awesome! I love that feeling you get when you finally check something off that’s been on your to-do list forevah. Hope it’s helping you to have a change of scenery! You’ll definitely have to share when you get it all together! 🙂

    1. Have you ever seen someone in real life who looks like they could be your twin/doppelgänger?
Not in real life, but a friend once showed me photos of a friend of hers, and it was pretty close! The whole time she was apologizing like “I hope I don’t sound crazy, but it’s just uncanny!” At least the other girl was pretty, so I took it as a compliment. 😉

    2. What do you think of the new Apple Watch, and would you wear it?
I just switched to a Samsung, so no! But even before it just would be too many devices to worry about syncing.

    3. Sometimes when I open my mouth…
I put my foot in it. It’s hereditary.

    4. Do you see yourself as more of a bohemian, or a glamour gal?
I guess I lean towards glamour. But in all things I tend to be a bit of both.

    5. What do you typically wear to work?
Usually some kind of top + cardigan/jacket combo, since the a/c is usually blasting but here in the OC it’s hot outside 3/4 of the year.

    2. What do you think of the new Apple Watch, and would you wear it? Eh, I’m not an early adopter. I’m doing well to manage my iPhone. I don’t think I would wear it. Plus my eyesight is sooo bad these days, I don’t think it would be practical.
    3. Sometimes when I open my mouth…I’m way too much of a smartass.
    4. Do you see yourself as more of a bohemian, or a glamour gal? More glamour for sure but glamour girl who’s misplaced her groove. I’m really curvy so fitted, tailored look works a lot better on me than hippy dippy, flowing stuff. Plus I’m obsessed with all things girly, like lipstick and perfume and jewelry. I’d never pull off earth girl.
    5. What do you typically wear to work? Slacks and a blouse. Sometimes a dress.

    1. Have you ever seen someone in real life who looks like they could be your twin/doppelgänger? Yes! There’s an aide at my daughters’ school that everyone says we look alike. One of these days I’m going to get a picture with her! Oddly enough, I actually have a twin, but a brother, so we don’t look alike.
    2. What do you think of the new Apple Watch, and would you wear it? Heck yeah! I love gadgets!
    3. Sometimes when I open my mouth…a 15 year old comes out, but 15 in 1990! Lots of “dudes” “rad” “biff”, that kind of thing.
    4. Do you see yourself as more of a bohemian, or a glamour gal? Bohemian! I love the look, I’m boycotting ponytails because they give me headaches and I have the right hair for the look! Lol! I’m always a tad too casual, but that’s okay!
    5. What do you typically wear to work? I am a stay at home mom, so lately I’ve been wearing workout gear because I’ve been working out!

    1. Have you ever seen someone in real life who looks like they could be your twin/doppelgänger? No but my boyfriend found a random picture on reddit of a girl who looked exactly like me once! I should have saved it to my computer!

    3. Sometimes when I open my mouth… I say totally awkward things on accident.
    4. Do you see yourself as more of a bohemian, or a glamour gal? Bohemian
    5. What do you typically wear to work? Jeans and a t shirt.

Hiya, dude. Yep, my road trip is still going strong. I’m headed back to my neck of the woods this weekend. I’ll make one final stop to visit my doppelgänger & her fam before I go back to my world. Denise Huxtable! Still a style icon in my book. So much so that I reference her by her character name & not her real name. Think her style is just as cool today, along with her daughter. And Lenny Kravitz! Yeah, I know they aren’t together anymore but me thinks she has good taste in men, too. Google her to see recent pics. Picture it: long, salt & peppa locs with one side shaved, a la Rihanna. I’ll be that cool at her age (fingers crossed!). Glad you’re feeling better & getting ish done. Have an amazing eyebrow week! #priorities

    • Karen says:

You will definitely be cool like that at her age. I just know it. Safe travels and have soooo much fun. Oh, and eat some yummy food for me, too. 🙂

    1. Have you ever seen someone in real life who looks like they could be your twin/doppelgänger?

Yes! Lol I usually get told I look like a lot of different people but it’s this one girl in my city who looks just like me. We’re actually friends on Facebook and I remember the first time I came across her page. It was like the twilight zone lmao

    2. What do you think of the new Apple Watch, and would you wear it?

I think it looks cool. I wouldn’t wear it though. Watches are just fancy bracelets for me. I only wear them for the cute factor lol

    3. Sometimes when I open my mouth…

I say that awkward yet brutally honest thought everyone in the room was thinking

    4. Do you see yourself as more of a bohemian, or a glamour gal?

    Glamour Girl all the way!

    5. What do you typically wear to work?

Depends on the job. If I’m working at Forever 21, I’m usually in a comfy tee, leggings and combat boots. For, Dior, I’m in all black dress clothes. And lastly when I’m working on my blog, I’m in my good ol pjs. Easily my favorite of the 3!

    1. Have you ever seen someone in real life who looks like they could be your twin/doppelgänger?

In real life, no, not really, but I have been told by my own Mother that sometimes she’ll see a picture of Liu Wen all casual without makeup and think she looks exactly like me. I take it as a huge compliment, and I’m incredibly excited to see a few Asian models finally getting to make it big internationally.

    2. What do you think of the new Apple Watch, and would you wear it?

You know, I have no idea! I saw something on the news about there being a new Apple Watch, but honestly, I have no idea what it does. I’ll admit that I don’t generally buy Apple products.

    3. Sometimes when I open my mouth…

    The truth comes out.

No, seriously, it’s terrible, and it doesn’t get you invited to parties, but I’m really very honest by nature!

    4. Do you see yourself as more of a bohemian, or a glamour gal?

You know, I don’t generally see myself as either. I think I’m a pretty classic drama queen of a dresser, and I would say that’s generally accurate – most people comment on my being ladylike and elegant. I like a glamorous look now and then, but it ends up looking more dramatic and classic than glamorous, I think.

    5. What do you typically wear to work?

Ooooooh. Well, I’m not currently employed and when my situation changes for the better, I’ll be studying and working from home, so largely that means what I like to wear every day! I love trench coats, fit and flare coats, equestrian boots, jeans, nice sweaters, head scarves (love colored head scarves oh my GOD), black deco-inspired or leather/patent handbags and purses, scarves, hats, hats and more hats. I have a black hat and beret for each day.

Oh, and black and white animals because that goes with my color scheme!

  23. 1. Have you ever seen someone in real life who looks like they could be your twin/doppelgänger? Nope.

    2. What do you think of the new Apple Watch, and would you wear it? Maybe eventually when it becomes more mainstream, but I wouldn’t cash out for it just yet.

    3. Sometimes when I open my mouth… stupid stuff comes out and I wish I had counted to ten first.

    4. Do you see yourself as more of a bohemian, or a glamour gal? A mix of both, really!

    5. What do you typically wear to work? I work from home, so I wear whatever I like! 🙂

No, but my mother has, and a friend of mine so they are out there!

    2. What do you think of the new Apple Watch, and would you wear it?
I’m not really a watch person, an to be honest if I’ll ever buy a watch I don’t want it to look like a gameboy 😉

    3. Sometimes when I open my mouth… I say something to get a shocked reaction when I’m bored of the discussed subject. I can’t help it, it just happens. My close friends thinks it’s fun though..

    4. Do you see yourself as more of a bohemian, or a glamour gal?
Glamour gal! Something about my looks makes it impossible to look bohemian, even if I try!

    5. What do you typically wear to work?
Casual, jeans and top depending on weather.
