You might be wondering, “So what in tarnation is this Monday Poll thing anyway!?”
Well, it isn’t exactly a poll. It’s more of a constantly evolving (devolving?), somewhat random list of questions I’ve been putting out to readers every Monday morning for the past seven years. (It’s like a kickstart for your brain.) I’ve always enjoyed reading your answers in the comments, and I hope you enjoy reading mine.
- Assuming you had to choose one (“neither” is not an option), would you rather wear a pink business suit or a leopard-print business suit to the office?
Alright, I’ll play your playfully twisted game, Ms. Karen. 🙂 I’ll go with the pink business suit if I can get it cut well and tailored to fit my eight-month pregnant self, HAHA! — ideally, in either a soft blush or rich, warm hot pink…The leopard print is also tempting…but I’m thinking that Cookie Lyon from Empire is the only person who could successfully pull that off and make it look legit.
- My heart melts when I see ______.
- Kittens awkwardly padding around with their fluffy feet, aww! (Side note: I wish I’d known Tabs when he was a tiny baby cat. He must have been the cutest kitten.)
- Dads holding sleeping babies.
- Pictures of me and my brother together, and pics of me and my friends when we were kids.
- Have you ever worn safety pins as a fashion accessory?
No, I was never cool enough to pull it off. I do have a cousin Beverly, though, who rocked the look and rocked it well. She’d line the sides of her jeans with big silver safety pins, and it looked really cool. - Doughnuts or cake?
Abstolutely. Yes. All you can spare. 🙂But if I have to pick one or the other…cake, with lots of layers and yummy frosting, because I’m not into frosting that doesn’t have any flavor.
Mmm… And if I happen to be having this cake while I’m not pregs, I would very much like to wash it down with champagne please.
- What are some of your nicknames?
K-dawg, Sweetie, Karonie and Katie.
Your turn. 🙂 Just copy and paste the following questions into a comment with your answers. I look forward to reading ’em!

About inclement: am I right to believe that the positive version of the word, “clement” without the in- prefix doesn’t exist in English? It is a word in French, and also a boy’s name, Clément, from which clementine was derived!
Suzanne C says
No, there’s no clement weather that I know of. If you add an ‘S’, however, it’s my last name! 😉

Hi Karen & happy Monday to you! I made it through my day with a nagging headache & have beef stew simmering on the stove so I’m delighted to take a break & do the poll!
1. Pink all the way, the pink of a gerbera daisy. About 10 years ago, I had to wear a light pink bridesmaid dress & received compliments on how flattering pink is to my complexion.
2. I’m a sucker for kittens & owlets. Weird combo, I know!
3. No safety pins for me, but I think I had a tartan skirt in junior high & it had one of those huge ones.
4. I lurve the unglazed old-fashioned doughnuts. I mean, I’ll eat any doughnuts that are available (let’s be honest here) but those are my absolute favorite: a little crispy on the outside, soft inside, & just a teeny bit sweet.
5. My one niece calls me “my Holly” instead of Aunt Holly, which I adore. My sister-in-law sometimes calls me Hols, & I used to work with someone who called me Hollywood.
On an unrelated note, I realized I was overdue in washing my makeup brushes when the eyeshadow brush I was trying to use with a neutral base turned up to still have more than a trace of teal shadow! Fortunately, I figured out a new color scheme, finished my makeup & then promptly washed those poor brushes! I procrastinate because I have a number of similar brushes in rotation & I rarely use such a strong color. Anyway, lesson learned.

I wore them attached to my sneakers and I think I pinned them to my acid-washed denim jacket too (!!!!).

Pink all the way! Baby pink was my favorite color in high school (must’ve had 6 shirts in varying shades of soft pink, striped soft pink, etc. that I carefully rotated for equal wear time — and arranged in my closet in order of depth of hue [OCD much?]), so a pink business suit is NOT a stretch for me!:-D
