You might be wondering, “So what in tarnation is this Monday Poll thing anyway!?”
Well, it isn’t exactly a poll. It’s more of a constantly evolving (devolving?), somewhat random list of questions I’ve been putting out to readers every Monday morning for the past seven years. (It’s like a kickstart for your brain.) I’ve always enjoyed reading your answers in the comments, and I hope you enjoy reading mine.
- Are you over the bold brow trend?
Aw, hell no! I freaking love it. I hope it never goes out of style, but my rational mind fully accepts the fact that the tide will eventually turn, and plucking those fuzzy little caterpillars into super skinny, thin arches will come back in style.I just hope it happens in, like…500 years. LOL!
- If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you have her do?
I’d have her use her mystical fairy magic to add eight inches of length and make my gray roots disappear and never come back for the rest of my life — POOF!And if after that the fairy still had some magical mana left in her bag of tricks, I’d have her make my hair permanently wash-and-wear, so I’d never have to use heat styling again.
- Can you buy happiness?
Ooh! Interesting question. I definitely don’t think it’s possible to buy long-term happiness deep down in your soul, but I do think you can buy a quick jolt o’ joy every once in a while.Like when I’m having a rough day, a quick Target, Sephora or Starbucks run usually makes me feel a little better (depending on what made the day rough).
- Something on your desk right now?
A grumpy 20-pound tabby!Tabs is sleeping on the lefthand corner of the desk right now, allegedly supervising his favorite employee.
- If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers?
Agh! Seriously, this one was harder than I thought it would be.First, I just love face wipes. They’re so handy when you finish working out and need to wipe away the sweat and grime, or when you’re too exhausted to wash your face before bed (I even keep some on my nightstand), but oil cleansers are amazingly effective. They remove everything and work quickly.
Ultimately, though…I’d have to go with face wipes because I’d be able to use them for more things.
Your turn. 🙂 Just copy and paste the following questions into a comment with your answers. I look forward to reading ’em!
1. Are you over the bold brow trend?
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do?
3. Can you buy happiness?
4. Something on your desk right now?
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers?
Happy Monday, sweet girl!
You know what I just realized? I just realized that Turkey Day is next week! YOWZA!
Tabs, Baby Girl, El Hub and I are going to be spending a relaxing one here at home in Novato, which is exactly what I want/need.
For various reasons, I don’t feel up to cooking a big feast this year (I don’t know why, but the thought of prepping a turkey from scratch scares the bejeezus out of me), so I’ll probably end up getting one of those pre-made deals at the supermarket that you reheat at home.
What are your Thanksgiving plans? Whatever they are, I hope they involve pie. 🙂
Have a good week, my friend.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
Kiss & Make-up says
1. Are you over the bold brow trend? — I was born with bold brows, so I’ll always have a set of statement brows whether I like it or not.
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do? — GIVE ME MORE OF IT! MAKE IT THICKER! GIVE IT SOME BODY AND OOMPH! (I have serious hair issues)
3. Can you buy happiness? — To some extent, sure.
4. Something on your desk right now? — Water bottle, lipstick, lip balm, moisturizer, iPhone, empty cup of tea, Ladurée macaron box.
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers? — Oil cleansers, easy choice!
Holly says
My siblings & I are having our family Thanksgiving this coming Sunday as they are married & will be spending the actual day with their in-laws. I plan on spending Thanksgiving at the Zoo; few people & no drama or weird uncles to dodge!
As for the poll questions:
1. Bold brows all the way! I may not have them (due to genetics rather than over-plucking) but I admire them on others.
2. I’d like the magic hair fairy to make my bangs the right length & then stop growing so I don’t have to get them trimmed every two weeks! Other than that, I’m actually pleased with my hair.
3. I agree 100% with your happiness description. A little jolt is great but it’s not the secret to true happiness.
4. No desk for me! I do keep pens near me at all times & my water glass & a lip balm.
5. I’m going to go with oil cleansers for my makeup removal needs. I’m not really thrilled with the wipes I’ve tried & I have oilier skin so the oil cleansers help with my basic skincare as well.
I hope you’re resting up & taking it easy! I’m off to deliver a meal to one of my good friends who had a hysterectomy last week. They did it laproscopically so she doesn’t have a huge abdominal incision but it’s still major surgery. And she has a teenager, a 5 year old & a 6 month old in the house Her husband has mommy duty for a couple weeks, so I thought I’d help him out wwith some food.
Sabrina says
1. Are you over the bold brow trend?
I really thought I was, and I went back to more “natural” brows, and I hated it. I’m back to my strong and thick brows.
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do?
Could she make my roots be the color they’re supposed to be? Thanks. That’s all I want. I’m too lazy to keep up with coloring my hair as much as I would like.
3. Can you buy happiness?
You can buy everything you need to be happy, so in a sense, yeah.
4. Something on your desk right now?
Helping Hands lotion from Lush. I take it back and forth to home and the office because I love it so much. (I should really just buy another)
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers?
Oil cleansers. Face wipes never do it for me.
Leah G. says
Hi Karen,
My parents host Thanksgiving, my in-laws host Christmas and we host Easter. Due to Boston traffic we have to take the long way to Western MA to for Thanksgiving but at least it’s scenic (it adds an extra hour). I just saw an add for a pre-made feast from one of our favorite BBQ restaurants here so you can contact one of your favorite places to eat to see if they have a pre-made feast you can just pick up! 🙂
1. Are you over the bold brow trend? Finally got my brows waxed (they were long over due) and the spa was like “it’s been a while!” heh. So I don’t like them too thin so I guess I’m on trend?
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do? Have my curly hair be thicker!
3. Can you buy happiness? I have this cut out add hanging in my guest room that reads “whoever said money could not buy happiness forgot about puppies.” I think it’s possible to buy happiness when it’s in the form of travel or a nice night out with friends. Temporary happiness!
4. Something on your desk right now? A pottery bowl of lotions, lip balms etc.
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers? Burt’s Bees Face wipes in particular! Love how they remove makeup without being harsh on the skin.
Becca says
I’m with you in that cooking a turkey scares the crap out of me too. So intimidating! Haha. I can’t believe Thanksgiving is so soon, definitely snuck up on me!
1. Are you over the bold brow trend?
No way! I love it. I don’t pull it off very well since my brows are so light colored. I wish I could.
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do?
I would love to have beautiful naturally curly hair. I love when people have such effortlessly curly hair. So lovely.
3. Can you buy happiness?
No way! Happiness comes from the people you love and doing things you enjoy. Make up makes me pretty happy, but I believe I would be okay without it 🙂
4. Something on your desk right now?
A planner. Always have to have my planner on hand!
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers?
Face wipes, of course! So quick and easy to wipe my make-up off with, they are a must have!

Anne Tran says
1. Are you over the bold brow trend? – Nope! Love having bold brows! I had skinny arches back in high school (nearly a decade ago) and it took forever to have them grow out (still struggling in some areas, but that’s what my brow wiz is for)
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do? – More volume! Since I have stick straight hair, it’s very flat and nearly impossible to keep in curls. I also need a new do as well, it’s been awhile since I had a haircut.. my split ends are a nightmare!
3. Can you buy happiness? – Only temporarily, it’s better to find long-lasting happiness elsewhere
4. Something on your desk right now? – About 10 phonebook size textbooks (the woes of being a student! 🙁 ) and a bar of chocolate (white chocolate with coconut) to get me through studying
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers? – Face wipes, I like to have them on the go as well
Tatiana says
That food looks so yummy. We’re having a laid back T-Day here. Just the Dear Husband, Dear Daughter and myself. No turkey either as the DH is the only one who truly loves turkey. So I’ll roast and stuff something else and make a green veggie. Dear Daughter is making the pie and the sweet potatoes.
1. Are you over the bold brow trend?
Nope, never. I never want to return to the skinny brow trend.
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do?
Add silky thickness and make my hair go completely silvery gray. My hair is starting to get thinner and thinner and if I try to grow it too long it starts looking stringy.
Right now it’s about half and half, salt n pepper. But since I’ve decided to embrace the gray, I just want it to be more gray.
3. Can you buy happiness?
Long term, no I don’t think so. Happiness is mindset you create. But I believe spending money on travel and experiences with those you love can help create happiness. Not about what you own but what you do.
4. Something on your desk right now?
Perfume samples and bottles I no longer love that I’m trying to find new homes for.
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers?
Oil cleansers hands down. I can always find a paper towel or face flannel to dampen and refresh with. Oil cleansers on the other hand get rid of everything 100%.
Jax says
1. Are you over the bold brow trend? – NOPE, I think if you have dark hair stronger brows look better, but that’s just a personal thing 😀
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do? – I have thinning hair so if it could be set back to before when it was nice and thick. Add about 12 inches and definitely go for the banish grey for ever!
3. Can you buy happiness?
Not real happiness but money can make things easier.
4. Something on your desk right now?
Gorgeous soft strawberry bonbons, too nice, eating too many 🙂
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers? – Face Wipes absolutely, just for ease if nothing else.
Erin says
I’m not feeling holiday yet. I think it’s because we’ll be doing less than nothing for T-day and my hubs might have to work with all this new stuff going on in the world.
1. Are you over the bold brow trend?
Nope. All Brows All The Time!
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do?
Probably a sweet braid or a cut, color, and highlight job if they were trained correctly. OR RESTORE MY THINNED HAIR FROM MY THYROID PROBLEM!
3. Can you buy happiness?
Sort of. You can help others with money and buy things to make your life more comfortable. That’s as close to buying happiness as you get. Though you can also buy pets and wine with money…
4. Something on your desk right now?
All the things are on my desk. Nail polish, pills, perfumes, Anthro catalogue, bills, product packaging, trash, and last night’s wine glass and this morning’s coffee cup! Needless to say, it’s a friggin mess.
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers?
Oil cleansers for sure. They do a better job!
Katie says
1. Are you over the bold brow trend? No way! I can barely tweeze my brows into “disheveled chic” as it is, I could never get them to be thin and tiny.
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do? Change it permanently auburn so I wouldn’t have to dye it, add length, and make it break-proof! I’m having tons of breakage lately 🙁
3. Can you buy happiness? Look, I want to say no, but honestly, I think money can buy happiness. Not material things, but healthcare/insurance, a home, food, safety for you and your family, fresh water, electricity… These are all things money can buy and it’s a HECK of a lot easier to be happy when you are healthy and safe. So even though I’m sure a lot of people are going to say no, I say yes. I would be happier knowing that my family is financially secure.
4. Something on your desk right now? A bottle of leave-in conditioner.
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers? Oil cleansers! I don’t even use face wipes at all, they’re usually way too irritating for my sensitive skin.
Estefania says
Hahahaha you had the same response to happiness as me. Call me petty but I think it’s a lot easier to be happy if you’re secure.
Estefania says
1. Are you over the bold brow trend?
Nah, although I am kind of over the overly sculpted brows.
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do?
I’d ask it to make my hair into a shaggy, strawberry blonde bob.
3. Can you buy happiness?
Ugh. Judge me if you must, but although I do think it’s possible to be happy with little money, I also think money gets you the necessary things in life that let you be comfortable and happy. But no, you can’t buy happy with a Birkin.
4. Something on your desk right now?
My notepad and a Happy Meal. #corporatelife
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers?
Oil cleansers. Less waste and I feel like they get more of the gunk out of your skin.
Daniela says
1. Are you over the bold brow trend?
I like my brows to be groomed, not too thin, tinted in grey-brown and enhanced with MAC eyeshadow in omega and copperplate.
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do?
Get rid of the frizz, now and forever!
3. Can you buy happiness?
No, but sometimes a new pair of shoes, a new lipstick etc. can help.
4. Something on your desk right now?
There is an eternal calendar with nature/ world photos that was left by one of my clients. I change it every morning and it leads me – just for a minute – into a totally different world. I sometimes have to google the locations.
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers?
Face wipes, or even better, Bioderma cleansing water.
Have a great week everyone!
Nina says
1. Are you over the bold brow trend?
– I have naturally bold and black brows, so no – I’m not over the trend!
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do?
– Make my curls less frizzy. And also get rid of split ends!
3. Can you buy happiness?
– No, but it can buy licorice and chocolate.
4. Something on your desk right now?
– The red Maybelline baby lips.
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers?
– Oils! I love oils, my skin is really dry. I can’t even remember the last time I used wipes…
Karen says
Hi Nina,
Girl, I feel your pain on the dry skin! Mine is extra dry now because it’s cold and windy. Brr…
By the way, did you ever end up grabbing a BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector?
Nina says
I haven’t picked it up yet… Opal is sold out everywhere I look! 🙁
Jennifer says
1. Are you over the bold brow trend? Oh no. I think a bolder brow is a godsend to anyone with a round face, which I have.
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do? I want beachy waves
3. Can you buy happiness? No, definitely not. However, having enough money for the basics and not struggling to pay a huge health insurance bill every month for a crappy policy, can make a big difference in quality of life.
4. Something on your desk right now? Dead Sea Nourishing Cuticle Oil. Before I had my husband schooled on what to get me for Christmas (i.e. Sephora gift cards or anything at Sephora + jewels) he bought me a weird spa gift thing from the mall. The products were ok but there was a useful cuticle oil pen in it, which has lasted forever. Really, he gave me this set 7 or 8 years ago and I’m only half way through the cuticle oil.
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers? face wipes
p.s. Your bowl of grub looks great. I adore butternut squash. I made a butternut squash lasagna a few weeks ago because I’m too lazy to make homemade butternut squash ravioli. The dish wasn’t a hit but it wasn’t a miss either. It definitely has potential so I’m going to keep tinkering.
Karen says
I would definitely be too lazy to even attempt to make butternut squash ravioli unless it came in a package from Trader Joe’s, LOL!
Have you ever had butternut squash soup? So, so good!
Lauren says
1) love bold brows!! Groomed of course!
2) that fairy would permanently get rid of gray roots, frizz, and split ends! I’d also have perfect loose waves.
3) I agree a million percent with Karen’s answer. Long term happiness…no. but the quick “high” is nice on a yuck day.
4) what desk?! The top of my dresser is in disarray though, covered with spare change, lipsticks, paperwork…you name it! I want to be like the people in magazines that have a perfect, flower filler dresser top!
5) face wipes hands down. So convenient and multi purposeful. After the gym, removing makeup prior to washing, cleaning up any makeup fall out or mistakes
Karen says
Hi Lauren,
I want to be like one of those magazine people too. They’re always at their desk looking all cute and productive, LOL! And have you ever noticed that the desk is always tiny and fashionable?! I could never make that work in real life.
I hope that you had a nice weekend. Even though you are across the pond, do you have any plans to celebrate Thanksgiving?
Lauren says
The ” desk girls” always wear pristine white shirts, too! Oh, Thanksgiving…I get a bit sad. I haven’t had a “normal” one in years. I always worked evening or night shift on Thanksgiving at the hospital…my choice…and lived in Canada the past 3 years…different Thanksgiving day there. This year may be a bit sad as hubby works BUT I found a Whole Foods that is recognizing TDay, so I’m going today to place an order! How about you?
Karen says
Yeah they are! And they have their legs crossed nicely and they never looked stressed out. BAH!!!
So, Thanksgiving! I’m glad you were able to find a place. We ordered our T-day dinner from Whole Foods one year when we hosted at our house, btw, and it was pretty good. It just makes everything easier, ya know? Did you get any yummy sides too?
Sarah says
1. Are you over the bold brow trend?
Definitely not over having more natural bold brows (which I have), but over the overdrawing and overfilling.
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do?
Braids, braids, braids, braids…and more braids.
3. Can you buy happiness?
Momentary happiness, not a lifetime.
4. Something on your desk right now?
The desk got booted to the basement…so dust, probably!
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers?
Face wipes! Specifically the Neutrogena ones or the Harmon version in the purple package that have the calming nighttime scent. So lovely.
Karen says
You’re so lucky to have naturally bold brows, Sarah! Do you do still have to do anything to shape them?
Efrain says
1. Are you over the bold brow trend?
Nope, I love it but there’s a telenovela where the main character have really bushy and ugly brows that annoy me every time they make her a close up, also I don’t like when they’re over-defined.
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do?
I’d ask to maintain my curls even after going to sleep, for example today I washed it because tomorrow I’m leaving early (like 6 AM) and they look beautiful today but tomorrow I’m not sure how they’ll look.
Also to make it grow faster and two options: never getting gray hair or getting it really fast.
3. Can you buy happiness?
I don’t think so, however some times money helps to be happier or at least to pick you up.
4. Something on your desk right now?
Papers everywhere.
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers?
Oil cleanser, I’m not sure face wipes can really clean your skin.
We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving and I even have ideological problems with this holiday; however I hope it’ll be a really nice day for you and maybe you can put only a plate of many cheeses, many types of ham, bread, grapes, nuts and wine (well for you grape juice) instead of a full dinner.
Agata says
1. Are you over the bold brow trend?
Nope! I like natural looking brows at the moment. Bolder and definitely better than all plucked!
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do?
I would also go for having permanently styled hair either straight or curled into soft waves! Not having to do my hair every other day would be awesome!
3. Can you buy happiness?
Nope, I do believe that true happiness comes from within and surrounding yourself with positive and meaningful people and relationships. But a little shopping trip or a conversation with a friend over a cup of Starbucks can def be a happy moment too!
4. Something on your desk right now?
An empty cup of coffee. I am craving another cup but I am leaving for zumba soon and I don’t like drinking coffee before working out because it makes me feel too full!
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers?
That is a really tough question because I use both on daily basis to remove my makeup but I think I will go with a cleansing oil.
I have to work on Thanksgiving but I am also invited to my boyfriend’s parents’ house for a family dinner. There is going to be 30 people!!! I am really anxious about that. I am planning on making a cranberry orange relish and Polish cheesecake.
Chelsea says
1. Are you over the bold brow trend?
I don’t mind bold brows, but I’m over the highly drawn on, super filled in, Instagram brows for everyday wear. If your brows are naturally thick, cool. If they’re not, that’s cool too. I’m into a more natural look lately. I still fill in with Glossier Boy Brow, but not nearly as much as I used to do with pomades and pencils.
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do?
Victoria’s Secret model hair! The length is getting there, but my hair is relatively fine and pin straight.
3. Can you buy happiness?
They studied this, and until $75k (now $83k with inflation), additional income creates happiness, but after that point, you don’t get any happier. So, it depends!
4. Something on your desk right now?
I don’t have a desk at home, but my desk at work has a plant, and some Pusheen stickers! (http://pusheenthecat.com/)
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers?
I don’t use either of these on a regular basis!
Kwmechelle says
re you over the bold brow trend? Bold brows til the day I die, boo! I was born with bushy brows so even when the trend ends, I’m still gonna represent.
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do? Good question! Let’s see, I’d have an instant big ole’ fro with blue or purple highlights. My hair would always wash, steam, deep condition, & style itself. That way, I wouldn’t have to do it or pay anyone to do it. The struggle with my hair is REAL!
3. Can you buy happiness? Nope, many things can bring a sense of joy & satisfaction but nothing that money can buy can ever truly satisfy or buy happiness. I could go on & on, waxing all poetically & stuff but I’ll spare you ?
4. Something on your desk right now? Well, I don’t really have a desk but I have a makeshift vanity cluttered with makeup & awaiting my new “toys” from the Sephora VIB sale over the weekend.
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers? Oil cleansers. They just feel so darn good. They’re not as quick & easy to use as wipes, which I also love, but they def get the job done.
Hope you’re well, dude. I’m splendid. No complaints. Heading to Tarjay & Sephora for “one” more thing before the sale ends. We shall see if I have the will power to resist the urge to buy more than one thing 🙂
Sandy P says
Just going to make one comment…HAIR…I went gray at a very early age and colored it for years before accepting it at the age of 50 or so. I would love to have dark hair like yours Karen!! Okay, on to Thanksgiving. My family will be together and since my birthday falls that day we are going out to eat so Mom aka me doesn’t have to cook!!
Rachel R. says
Hello! We’re staying home for Thanksgiving as well. It’s easier with my kids sensory and food issues. Plus it’s nice to just get a few days with my hubby home. The kids and I don’t want to share him. We always have pumpkin and pecan pies. I usually buy the pecan, and I make the pumpkin pie most years. This year I won’t be, because I’m still on crutches. At least the cast is off, though.
1. Are you over the bold brow trend? I have naturally bold brows, so no. I like them much better than pencil thin ones.
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do? Give it volume and the ability to hold a curl, take away the gray.
3. Can you buy happiness? No, but as they say, you can rent it for awhile.
4. Something on your desk right now? Papers in desperate need of filing or recycling.
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers? Face wipes, because I don’t use oil cleansers.
The Silver Nail says
1. Are you over the bold brow trend?
I was never part of it and I HATE fake bold brows, the ones that look like they’re via a thick black Sharpie. If you have naturally thick, dark brows, great. If you don’t, for God’s sake lay off filling in stencils like you’re lettering an Army jeep. They look ridiculous. Neither do I like ultra-thin and overly tweezed brows. One size does NOT fit all. (Yes, this is a pet peeve of mine, along with horribly obvious and unneeded contouring!)
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do?
Have her make it about a foot longer. Cut my hair last summer and immediately regretted it. Sigh.
3. Can you buy happiness?
No. You can buy things that give you a momentary thrill, but true happiness comes from within and from a satisfaction with who you are.
4. Something on your desk right now?
A Mystery Science Theater 3000 mouse pad.
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers?
Face wipes.
breyerchic04 says
1. Are you over the bold brow trend?
Nope, I don’t care about brow trends, I’ve barely ever plucked, and almost never fill, I just leave my brows, they’re fine!
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do?
Golden Blonde ringlets that require virtually no color maitanence or styling.
3. Can you buy happiness?
No but you can buy pleasure.
4. Something on your desk right now?
Pink flowers, Hada Labo Hydrator, and my Macbook.
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers?
Oil cleanser, I hate what cloths do to my face.
Bree says
1. Are you over the bold brow trend? No, but I still like groomed brows. Just not overly groomed ones. I would love to carry around a brow wiz and fix my friends brows at times.
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do? Make my split ends disappear and make my hair slightly thicker. Maybe some Johnny Ramirez color. Its super long right now and I love it.
3. Can you buy happiness? You can buy horses and horses make me happy. You can’t buy true love though.
4. Something on your desk right now? I’m in bed and don’t really have a desk, but my entertainment stand in my room has one of those wax warmers on it and I love that thing. Speaking of which, I forgot to turn it on.
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers? Oil cleansers. I only use face wipes when I am too lazy to wash my face or can’t, which is almost never.
Mel B. says
1. Are you over the bold brow trend? This is hard to answer cause I was never really into the bold brow trend.
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do? To make my hair keep that straight from the hairdresser’s blow dry style that I can’t seem to copy.
3. Can you buy happiness? No but I agree a good Sephora fix every now and then definitely helps!
4. Something on your desk right now? Paper clutter and nice pictures of my husband & I on vacation and some pics of my beautiful cat, Jaspurr!
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers? Definitely, oil cleansers, hands-down.

Happy (almost) Thanksgiving, Karen! What’s your favorite kind of pie?
1. Are you over the bold brow trend? – Kiiiiiind of.. it’s a look that I admire, and it can totally impact a makeup look for the better, but these days I’m just into the understated brow. If I fill them in, the product has to be a shade lighter and slightly cooler-toned than my real brow hairs (almost as if I’m doing a contour/face effect, rather than complementing my hair color). I have skipped brow pomades/gels completely- just too harsh of an effect for me. I would love to rock the Cara Delevingne/Brooke Shields/Lily Collins brows, but after multiple attempts, I’m saying goodbye to bold, and hello to subtle and neat!
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do? – My real life hair fairy just chopped 4 or 5 inches off my hair today and I now have a short, angled ombre bob with an undercut!! 😀 So my hair dreams have mostly come true… but with a maaaagic hair fairy, I’d request a violet and burgundy balayage coloring- both cool and warm-toned purples for a fun effect that wouldn’t wash out after a few shampoos!!
3. Can you buy happiness? – I suppose I believe that while money doesn’t buy happiness, it does give you options, and that is something to be happy about- so, indirectly, it can definitely help.
4. Something on your desk right now? – A birchwood candle holder that was a party favor at my friend’s wedding last year. Although having a candle holder made of unfinished wood is seeming less and less intuitive, now that I’m thinking about it! 😛
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers? – This was a hard one!! I have to say oil cleansers. I love me a good face wipe (just used one tonight in fact!), but I can’t beat how oil cleansers get every fleck of makeup off- especially longwearing eye makeup. If this is the rest of my life I’m talking about, I guess I would commit to the extra minute or two of time with the oil!

Happy Monday (evening)
I’ve been putting off looking at the calendar until I glanced at it today to get an idea of how much time I had to do my nails before the Big bird day. I can’t believe it got here so quickly. Anyway, I’m not prepared and my menu is up in the air. The whole turkey shortage is giving me anxiety and because I’m a vegetarian I have yet to decide if I’m going to make a Gardein roast or just veggie it and leave it at that. (smh) I waited until the last minute and this is what happens. And to think Christmas is right around the corner. Not prepared for that either.
1. Are you over the bold brow trend?
I was over it before it began this go around. Some trends from back in the day should remain back in the day.
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do?
I’d have her give me about 4-5 additional inches in length, and turn my gray strands into pink glittery tresses. Oh and permanent body waves that I can wear curly or straight.
3. Can you buy happiness?
No, but you can rent it.
4. Something on your desk right now?
Water bottle.
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers?
Oil cleansers.

That salad looks super good!
1. Are you over the bold brow trend? – Not at all! I’ve only now learned to overline my brows a teeny tiny bit on top to make it look bold and beeeyoootiful!
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do? – I’d make all the frizz go away so I’m left with shiny, wavy, glorious hair.
3. Can you buy happiness? – A wise person once told me that money is a dissatisfier, but it’s not a satisfier. It won’t make you happy, but if you don’t have it you’ll surely be miserable.
4. Something on your desk right now? – Clutter everywhere!
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers? – I prefer oil cleansers. Face wipes never make me feel clean enough.

1. Are you over the bold brow trend?
No. I never want to get back to the thin days.
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do?
As fairies traditionally grant three wishes, mine would be:
– Add length until my hair reaches my waist (or where my waist used to be)
– Add volume, probably about a third more than now
– Add soft waves that need no styling
3. Can you buy happiness?
No. But you can buy things that make you feel better. like food and red lipstick.
4. Something on your desk right now?
A giant tea pot on a warmer.
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers?
Oil cleansers. Easy.

1. Are you over the bold brow trend?
Yes, but I never really got into it. I like a nice natural looking brow, nothing too skinny, but not bushes on my forehead either. haha
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do?
Ask for volume as my hair is super limp! And get a balyage!! I so desperately need to color my hair!!
3. Can you buy happiness?
I agree with you Karen, you can buy things to make you happy for a short period of time, but not long term happiness.
4. Something on your desk right now?
My latest Ipsy GlamBag that I can’t wait to test out the samples they sent me!!
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers?
I’ve never tried oil cleansers but I’ve heard good things about them. So I think I would have to go with face wipes cuz they are good for so many things!

I’m a day behind, as usual, but I’m glad to hear that you’re staying home for Thanksgiving. I’m sure you guys will have a very nice, relaxing time! I used to find the idea of prepping any kind of meat daunting, so don’t feel bad. The more you do it, the easier it gets. 🙂 Btw, your “treat” looks healthier than most of my “healthy choices”. You’re putting me to shame, woman! 😉
1. Are you over the bold brow trend? Definitely not.
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do? Same as you, without the extra inches and instead adding LOTS of volume at the roots.
3. Can you buy happiness? Agreed. If you’re unhappy by nature, most likely not. If you’re already predisposed to being happy but financial stress is wearing you down, then definitely. I’d say the average person could be made happier with more money.
4. Something on your desk right now? Geesh, I can barely see my desk under all the somethings. Better to ask what’s not on my desk. No kitties. HAHA!
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers? Wipes for sure. Quick, easy and versatile – as you said.
Hope you’re having a good Tuesday!

A little late but:
1. Are you over the bold brow trend?
I don’t care I think. I’m a nails & lipstick kinda girl.
2. If you could have a magic hair fairy do absolutely anything to your hair right now, what would you do?
More volume and soft curls. Give me the trim I’m too busy to go get. make it able to magically change color to suit my mood?
3. Can you buy happiness?
nope. but LACK of money can prevent it.
4. Something on your desk right now?
TONY MOLY Panda’s Dream White Hand Cream. Cutest hand cream ever.
5. If you could only use one or the other for the rest of your life, which would you choose — face wipes or oil cleansers?
Oil cleanser. I rarely use wipes.
