You might be wondering, “So what in tarnation is this Monday Poll thing anyway!?”
Well, it isn’t exactly a poll. It’s more of a constantly evolving (devolving?), somewhat random list of questions I’ve been putting out to readers every Monday morning for the past seven years. (It’s like a kickstart for your brain.) I’ve always enjoyed reading your answers in the comments, and I hope you enjoy reading mine.
- Have you ever taken candy from a stranger?
Does gum on an airplane count?? Because those are the only times I can remember — having someone on an airplane offer me a stick of gum, and I took it partly to be polite, because I figured, if I’m gonna be stuck next to the same person for five hours, I want to be cool with them, you know? Plus — and I realize that this is very doomsday of me — if the sh*t ever hits the fan on a plane, you better believe I want an ally. So, long story short — yes, I have taken candy from strangers.
Sorry, mom! I know you told me never to do that…
- Does lining your water line freak you out?
Nah, not really…but I think that’s because I wear contacts, so I’m used to having objects all up in my eyeball grill. If I didn’t wear contacts though…
- An urban legend that scared you as a kid?
Oh, gosh — Bloody Mary scared the crap out of me!Remember that one, where if you looked into a mirror in a dark room and said “Bloody Mary” three times, the ghost of a woman was supposed to appear next to you in the mirror?
It was all the rage at slumber parties for some reason…but I was always too terrified to try it! And when another girl would do it, I’d run away to a different room in the house and start reciting The Lord’s Prayer over and over, LOL!
Yes, I was that child…
Even after all these years, I still get shivers from this story!
- Have you been doing much cooking lately?
Not so much lately because of Baby Girl. I didn’t really feel like it for the first couple months of pregnancy. I pretty much hated all food stuffs except for select breakfast items…but I’m over it and starting to eat more normally again, which means that I’m getting back into cooking (also, one can only eat so many frozen waffles before they hit their limit).Thank goodness for El Hub. He did his best to keep us both fed while I refused to go anywhere near the kitchen.
- Something you realized you had to get over?
I realized that I had to get over perfectionism. It’s usually referred to as if it’s a good thing, but it’s usually not. It has gotten in my way so many times throughout my life and held me back in more ways than I care to admit.I’ve realized that it’s usually better to just go ahead and finish things on a schedule, by a deadline, even if the work isn’t picture-perfect in your head.
Your turn. 🙂 Just copy and paste the following questions into a comment with your answers. I look forward to reading ’em!
1. Have you ever taken candy from a stranger?
2. Does lining your water line freak you out?
3. An urban legend that scared you as a kid?
4. Have you been doing much cooking lately?
5. Something you realized you had to get over?
Good morning, sweet girl! Hello from the sun-shiny Northern California side of the keyboard. I’ve got a warm cup of green tea (decaf, of course) here and a tabby supervising me from across the room, so it’s been a great morning so far.
I feel amped up, and I think it might have to do with the green smoothie I had a little while ago. It was my first one in months (veggies and I have been mortal enemies since mid-June). Amazing what a little liquified greens can do…
I hope your Monday is going well. 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
Debra says
1. Have you ever taken candy from a stranger? No – because where I come from, strangers did not give candy! (LOL)
2. Does lining your water line freak you out? No (not to be negative!) but with allergies, I have a water line that doesn’t freak me out!
3. An urban legend that scared you as a kid? Hmmm. That if I kept hanging my arm over the railing of the crib, I’d turn into a mannequin? If old wives’ tales are the equivalent of urban legends then I grew up on them!
4. Have you been doing much cooking lately? No (there’s that word again!) – but it’s partly cause of the freaking hot DRY weather. I made meat loaf during the Autumn we had about a week ago.
5. Something you realized you had to get over? Blaming myself when things go wrong. I mean, I’m not that powerful!! The corollary is giving myself some credit when things go right!
Lulle says
1. Have you ever taken candy from a stranger?
I was about to say “NOOOO you crazy?”, but then I realized I did accept gum from a stranger on a plane, lol! Maybe the plane environment makes it okay? I mean, where are they going to kidnap you to?
2. Does lining your water line freak you out?
Same here, contact lens wearer so I have no problem putting fingers in my eyes. I do try to be super cautious because with a sharp pencil or a wooden one (splinters scare me).
3. An urban legend that scared you as a kid?
I can’t think of anything. And it’s NOT because I’m not scared of anything! So I guess I erased those memories for my own sake?
4. Have you been doing much cooking lately?
As a matter of fact, yes. I like cooking from time to time, like for special occasions, but on a daily basis, not really. So it’s more of a chore for me to have to cook dinner every night
5. Something you realized you had to get over?
Seeing myself as the victim. I spent a long, long time always being the victim of other people’s behavior. I did eventually realize that I had to take control and be less passive.
Chelsea says
1. Have you ever taken candy from a stranger? I’m sure I have! I also once got a ride home from the airport with someone I met on a plane, soooo….
2. Does lining your water line freak you out? Not really, bit it irritates my eyes a bit. I also look terrible with dark liner on my waterline.
3. An urban legend that scared you as a kid? I don’t think anything! They filmed an episode of Finding Bigfoot in my hometown though. Adults with tape recordings, saying they smelled an awful smell… It’s a BEAR, nor Bigfoot.
4. Have you been doing much cooking lately? Nope,I’m not a great cook.
5. Something you realized you had to get over? A lot of things, but perfectionism is a big one.
Ruchita says
1. Have you ever taken candy from a stranger?
Hm, I had to think about this one. I don’t think I have. Or it’s been long enough that I don’t remember.
2. Does lining your water line freak you out?
Nope. I always line my upper water line with black liner because it makes the base of my lashes look darker. If I’m doing a quick look, that’s one of the things I always do.
3. An urban legend that scared you as a kid?
The Bloody Mary one for me as well. Also, there was one about the escaped convict that had a hook for a hand. I remember it ending with a couple getting home from their date and finding the hook caught on the door handle of the car.
4. Have you been doing much cooking lately?
Yeah usually dinner and quick things for breakfast. It’s kind of a chore for me, but it’s not feasible to subsist on take out all the time. I haven’t baked in forever, but I’m ready to try some fall treats with pumpkin or apple.
5. Something you realized you had to get over?
Grudges, resentment, things from the past, etc. Easier said that done sometimes. Definitely a continuing process for me.
Happy Monday! 🙂
Kiss & Make-up says
1. Have you ever taken candy from a stranger? Do the people that hand out stuff at the mall or at the train station count? If so, yes.
2. Does lining your water line freak you out? I do it every day, so not anymore.
3. An urban legend that scared you as a kid? Nothing comes to mind! Guess I was a brave kid 😉
4. Have you been doing much cooking lately? Been cooking every day for the past week. After 4 weeks of eating out 3x a day it wasn’t easy!
5. Something you realized you had to get over? That I cannot control every single thing that happens.
Sara says
1. Have you ever taken candy from a stranger?
No, can’t say I have!
2. Does lining your water line freak you out?
No, I wear contacts too maybe that’s why?
3. An urban legend that scared you as a kid?
Omg Bloody Mary!
4. Have you been doing much cooking lately?
I’m usually in the kitchen 24/7, because cooking is my life but the last week or so, my pregnancy symptoms have shifted from starving all the time to repulsed by all food. I can’t stand any kind of cooking aside from baking sweets. Last night I tried to make veggie fajita bowls and I couldn’t stand the smell. I took one bite and I was like no way. I don’t know what to eat! The only thing I want is bread and candy!
5. Something you realized you had to get over?
The fact that you can’t change people. All you can do is be your best self and treat people kindly, but that doesn’t mean that everyone will do the same and I have just recently learned to let that go. I learned that my dad and I will never have a relationship because he just isn’t a nice person and I can’t change that.
….on a more positive note, happy Monday Karen! Hope you had a good weekend:) it’s starting to feel like fall here in CT and I’m about to bake a loaf of banana bread to get in the spirit!
Marina (Makeup4all) says
Funny how I have been listening to Smooth Criminal by MJ a lot lately and you post about Jackson 5.
1. Have you ever taken candy from a stranger? No.
2. Does lining your water line freak you out? Not at all.
3. An urban legend that scared you as a kid? Hmm. I remember that I was trying scary stories in general.
4. Have you been doing much cooking lately? Yes, actually. I’ve had a lot of stress lately so it was quite relaxing for me to come home and cook a nice dinner.
5. Something you realized you had to get over? Does someone count?! 😉
Allison C says
1. Have you ever taken candy from a stranger? What a funny question! Hmmm, guess the answer for me is no except for Halloween!
2. Does lining your water line freak you out? no
3. An urban legend that scared you as a kid? there was a story about a teenage couple parking and a guy with a hook
4. Have you been doing much cooking lately? always! I love to cook
5. Something you realized you had to get over? a family problem, but I will probably never get over it
Sabrina says
1. Have you ever taken candy from a stranger?
No? But does it count if it’s someone at carnival/parade handing it out?
2. Does lining your water line freak you out?
Nope. And it hasn’t tickled when I do it in years.
3. An urban legend that scared you as a kid?
I think all of them did to some extent? The urban legend of people hiding under your cars and slitting your ankles/grabbing you when you go to get in the car still freaks me out though.
4. Have you been doing much cooking lately?
Yeah! I’ve discovered a love for it, actually. I try to cook three new dinner recipes a week.
5. Something you realized you had to get over?
I have to get over the idea that things in life should be “fair” especially when it comes to work. I work in a tiny firm and the idea that we’re all equals is never practiced and at this point, it’s too stressful to fight it anymore. But if I didn’t feel that everything had to be fair, this wouldn’t be an issue. Because we all know life isn’t fair and blah blah blah.
Kim says
Happy Monday, my friend! I hope you had a lovely weekend! Glad to hear that Baby Girl is coming around and will hopefully love veggies like her Mama! 🙂
1. Have you ever taken candy from a stranger? No, I can’t think of an incidence (even gum on a plane, but I totally would because I’d be afraid it was offered because I needed to freshen my breath!).
2. Does lining your water line freak you out? No, not at all. I wore contacts for years as well so it wasn’t an issue. Also, I was an 80s gal so we heated our black eyeliner with a lighter before applying. Dumb, but true. 🙂
3. An urban legend that scared you as a kid? I must be brain dead today because I can’t think of one. I know Bloody Mary, of course. I just don’t remember being freaked out by any stories.
4. Have you been doing much cooking lately? I did quite a bit yesterday but I’m pretty consistently cooking on a daily basis, so no real peaks/valleys.
5. Something you realized you had to get over? An irrational fear of bees, many years ago. I just remember thinking “my goodness, this is ridiculous, get a hold of yourself… it’s a small, flying creature… I think you can handle the pain and horror of a sting if it were to happen”. So, that was that. Fear overcome. 🙂
So, on a side note, we did our longest hike to date on Saturday. Two high peaks and one smaller peak on a 15 mile loop hike. Holy moley, there were some sore feet and knees at the end (well, for the grown ups). 10 down and 36 more to go! Yay!
Katherine M says
1. Have you ever taken candy from a stranger?
~Trick or Treat count? But usually that was from neighbors I had at least seen publicly.
2. Does lining your water line freak you out?
~Not really, because I also wear contacts.
3. An urban legend that scared you as a kid?
~Hmmmmmm…there were a few. It was really more scary movies that got me. The Exorcist had me terrified of the dark for weeks.
4. Have you been doing much cooking lately?
~Some here and there. Some eating out, some cooking. I try to eat at home when I can but if I’m out shopping and I’m hungry, I’ll get something.
5. Something you realized you had to get over?
~I am also a perfectionist, but it’s not a bad thing in cases, like, say, work. However, it IS a bad thing when I apply it to every corner of my life. I learned that there were just some things that I could not control, like bad traffic/drivers, what other people do, etc. I am such a routine person that in the past, if something about my day totally got changed, it would throw me off. Now, I’ve learned to go with the flow and keep my positive, happy attitude. The biggest lesson I learned with my perfectionism is that I am in control on how I react to a situation. I can either feed into the drama, sulk, or be the happy one. Being the happy one is the easiest and best solution for me.
Love your Instagram preggo pics – you look gorgeous! Big life change for you, too, and I am so happy that you are having a girl to share your makeup fun with.
Efrain says
1. Have you ever taken candy from a stranger?
Do the salespersons at supermarkets, Costco or Sam’s count?
2. Does lining your water line freak you out?
Not really, what freaks me out is smugging and transferring.
3. An urban legend that scared you as a kid?
I was always the easily scared child but I can’t remember one legend in specific.
4. Have you been doing much cooking lately?
Nope, school is taking all my time so thank god I live with my parents.
5. Something you realized you had to get over?
Being perfectionist and criticize myself, as you said that really affected myself and it was a hard road to cross.
Is amazing how crazy your eating habits change when you’re pregnant, e.g. When my mom was pregnant of me she really wanted to eat black beans but after she ate them she threw up (maybe it was TMI sorry)
ericca says
1. Have you ever taken candy from a stranger? As a child no, as an adult yes. And when we say stranger , like people in my church gave kids candy all the time, does that count
2. Does lining your water line freak you out?yes.
3. An urban legend that scared you as a kid? Bloody Mary, the onion man and the boogie man.
4. Have you been doing much cooking lately? no actually, and my waist line is showing it.
5. Something you realized you had to get over?fear of driving
Kate & Zena says
Guess what?! Zena is cancer-free! *whoops around the MBB-verse* So happy. That was traumatic.
1. Have you ever taken candy from a stranger?
Only if you count Halloween candy! I pretty much knew everyone in high school so if they wanted to give me gum, that was fine by me!
2. Does lining your water line freak you out?
It only freaks me out when I’m not wearing my contact lenses. It makes my eyes water and sting so I get a little weird about it.
3. An urban legend that scared you as a kid?
The Boogeyman! I was so terrified of him that my mom had “Boogeyman Deterrent” which was just cheap hairspray! LOL.
4. Have you been doing much cooking lately?
No, I haven’t done much cooking since I was diagnosed with Lupus actually. I’ve been wanting to get back to cooking because I’ve been getting more energy, but I’m trying to recover from rotator cuff tendinitis in both shoulders.
5. Something you realized you had to get over?
When I was first diagnosed with Lupus I had wanted to ask my grandma questions about her lupus affected her, how she dealt with the pain and the fatigue (she NEVER missed a day of work as long as I knew her. NEVER!), her journey to being diagnosed and how she kept a positive attitude. She had her stroke before I could sit down and talk with her; her stroke left her unable to talk or really communicate well and then she passed away. I was never able to ask her these questions. She didn’t leave any diaries behind nor did anyone in my family really know the answer to these questions which always angered me in some way.
But, then, as the months went on, I started to understand why she never told anyone about how she dealt with her Lupus or how it affected her or how she stayed positive. Lupus is an intensely private disorder. No one believes you when you say you are so tired you just can’t get out of bed or you’re in so much pain that you just want to chop off your limbs. So, instead of telling people, you keep it to yourself. I learned the answers by experiencing them. I still don’t know her journey, but I’m okay with that now because it probably in some way mirrors mine. The only I can do is make sure my nephew knows differently.
Erin says
I don’t know who Zena is but that is good news. I just found out I have another tumor today so I know it’s hard going!
Kate & Zena says
Zena is my pup, Erin, and my “other half.” She was diagnosed with sarcoma three weeks ago. She had surgery two weeks ago to remove her tumor and she has a big long surgical scar (it’s about five inches long.) We were scared that her vet didn’t get it all plus good margins because her tumor turned out to be bigger than originally thought but we got the all clear.
The thing I remembered I disliked most about being diagnosed with something new was the words “I’m sorry.” I don’t know if you are the same way, but I bet you’re a badass strong woman and you totally have this. You can do it. 🙂
Christine says
1. Have you ever taken candy from a stranger?
Halloween counts, right? And then there were several jobs where people just left candy (and other goodies) in a common area, or promo people would come by and be all, “Here! Have candy!” You tell a newsroom full of people there’s free food, and we’d run. Even on Fruit Day.
2. Does lining your water line freak you out?
Nope — it’s usually what I do if I need a quick pick me up, makeup-wise. I know doctors frown upon it, but they’d probably also frown upon my candy habit (taking it from strangers and otherwise :o)).
3. An urban legend that scared you as a kid?
BLOODY MARY, yes!! Didn’t help I went to a Catholic school, either, so girls would talk about it and I was always curious but terrified.
4. Have you been doing much cooking lately?
Not a lot. I’ve been dealing with a lot pain-wise and medicine-wise (getting used to new ones can be a drag), so my cooking is a lot of freezer-to-oven things at the end of the day.
5. Something you realized you had to get over?
The fact that I’m not a failure for deciding to not use my (mumble-mumble-dollars, private arts school) degree. Not there yet, still some guilt, but I’m happier with what I am doing rather than what I was doing.
LindaLibraLoca says
1. Have you ever taken candy from a stranger?
No. But to be honest, I never met a stranger that offered candy, I dont know if I could resist otherwise. Depeds on the candy I guess.
2. Does lining your water line freak you out?
No. I wear contacts, too.
3. An urban legend that scared you as a kid?
All of them. I still am freaked out by these stories and never ever would have dared to play the “Bloody Mary” game.
4. Have you been doing much cooking lately?
No. I rarely cook in general, but lately I have been sleeping whenever I got the chance.
5. Something you realized you had to get over?
Old grudges. It just keeps me miserable.
Cory says
Omg Karen, you cracked me up with that “ran into the other room & recited the Lord’s Prayer”!!! Lol & wanting an ally on the plane!! Lmao I’m cracking up rt now, thank you!
Anyway..
1. Have you ever taken candy from a stranger? Several times… I think I’m a pretty good judge of character—you just gotta look a person good & hard in the eyeballs lol
2. Does lining your water line freak you out? Not at all. I did get freaked out by watching an ex-friend do hers with a spikey-wood liner because she didn’t watch what she was doing & cut her eye.
3. An urban legend that scared you as a kid? Cookabunga. He supposedly lived by the river…thanks mom!
4. Have you been doing much cooking lately? Does microwaving count??
5. Something you realized you had to get over? Wanting every single eyeshadow color, shade, tint, etc.
Shannon says
1. Have you ever taken candy from a stranger?
Hmm.. maybe? I feel like I’ve shared m&ms or something with someone I didn’t know before. But – if trick-or-treating counts, definitely 🙂
2. Does lining your water line freak you out?
Nah, not usually! I don’t do it often since I don’t have an eyeliner that really sticks to my waterline all day, but if I’m feeling like doing the upkeep I don’t mind it.
3. An urban legend that scared you as a kid?
Hmm… nothing comes to mind! I know I was scared of going downstairs to the bathroom at night, when I was younger – we lived in an old Victorian, and all the bedrooms were upstairs. I hated going down in the dark! I think I thought the devil was going to catch me, or something.
4. Have you been doing much cooking lately?
Not as much as I’d like – story of my life! I really wish I had more time at home for this kind of thing. These days, I get home from work and need to decompress – the last thing I want to do is cook, even though I love it. Sigh!
5. Something you realized you had to get over?
hmm… a big one for me was realizing I needed to separate myself from the place I grew up in. We moved away from the Seattle area about 6 years ago, and for a long time I would get quite verklempt – I would feel guilty, almost – whenever someone (especially my family) would ask “when are you moving back?” I would think of everything I was missing, and how family was aging… It took me a while to realize this was taking a huge emotional toll, and kind of preventing me from truly living IN the place I was actually, physically in. So I realized I had to start responding to the question in a different way, instead of hemming and hawing, and actually say “we’re not making plans to move back” – even though we definitely aren’t going to be here (NYC) forever. It was crazy how important that was. It’s like it put more authority into the decision we had made to move away, and it actually started shutting people up a little bit about moving back. I’m back at the point now where I *know* that I eventually want to move back to the northwest, but I don’t feel like there’s a timeline (which is important) and I feel like it’s a decision I was able to make on my own terms, instead of one I made at the mercy of my homesickness.
Trude says
1. Have you ever taken candy from a stranger?
I don’t think I have, not even gum!
2. Does lining your water line freak you out?
Not really, although I’m super careful about it.
3. An urban legend that scared you as a kid?
I’m right there with you about Bloody Mary, I remember being up most of the night one sleepover! When I got to college and learned that it dates back to Queen Mary (Henry VIII’s daughter) briefly attempting to bring Catholicism back to England, I was mystified that it’s still around.
4. Have you been doing much cooking lately?
Always! About 5 years back I really forced myself to start learning how to do more in the kitchen (partly because of my budget, partly because it’s usually healthier!). Now we only eat maybe 1-2 times a week, depending.
5. Something you realized you had to get over?
Perfectionism too. Sometimes things have to be good enough, otherwise they’re just a time and effort drain!
Tatiana says
1. Have you ever taken candy from a stranger?
Not that I can recall.
2. Does lining your water line freak you out?
Yes. I never do it. I believe that the waterline is there to keep things out of my eye. I’m not the kind to risk infection in my eye.
3. An urban legend that scared you as a kid?
No urban legends. There was plenty of reality growing up in Detroit that scared me.
4. Have you been doing much cooking lately?
Yup. I’ve been trying to serve home cooked meals five nights a week, reserving eating out to the weekends. My Dear Husband cannot cook at all.
5. Something you realized you had to get over?
Too many things to list. I am a flawed individual.
Stephanie Smith says
1. Have you ever taken candy from a stranger? Of course! Trick or treating! Lol! Also, I’m sure I’ve been given lollipops or Life Savers or gum from people I don’t know.
2. Does lining your water line freak you out? Yes! I sometimes wear contacts, but the waterline thing is just beyond me. I love love love the look, I’m just not good at it! I’m worried I’ll rub my eye and the makeup will come off, or it’ll be gappy or I’ll poke my eye out. It’s a constant struggle.
3. An urban legend that scared you as a kid? I really didn’t know any of them, which makes me sad. I don’t like Bloody Mary either though!
4. Have you been doing much cooking lately? Tons! We’re Whole30’ing it, so no pre-packaged anything, all real food. I love to cook, so it’s no big deal.
5. Something you realized you had to get over? I’m never going to be a willowy type of girl, I’m not built like that. But it’s fine. I love my body, my husband loves my body, and my daughters, who inherited my body, love their bodies with a fierceness that I didn’t know could exist. Go me!
Chas says
1. Have you ever taken candy from a stranger?
Um, do those people giving out samples count? Maybe not, I consider them friends! I love those people! (I know, totally bad…)
2. Does lining your water line freak you out?
Um, kind of. I wear contacts, although not as frequently anymore b/c I’m in front of a computer all day, so I’m okay with touching my eyes and stuff. But the thing is, sometimes I get weird I guess greasy/cloudy patches sometimes when I wear my contacts. I’m not sure if it’s from maybe sunscreen or moisturizer melting into my eye, but I’m afraid if I tightline/water line that I’ll get that same thing happening.
3. An urban legend that scared you as a kid?
Also Bloody Mary! And that one with a dude sneaking into the back seat of your car when you’re at the gas pumps and then he slashes at your ankles! *shudders*
4. Have you been doing much cooking lately?
I cook about 2 or 3 big meals usually on Sundays to tide us over for lunches/dinners until about Thursdayish. Other than that, I’m home too late to fix dinners on the weekdays.
5. Something you realized you had to get over?
I’m bad at getting over grudges. That’s still a work in progress…
Erin says
1. Have you ever taken candy from a stranger?
Does gum count?
2. Does lining your water line freak you out?
No. I have been doing it on and off since the 6th grade.
3. An urban legend that scared you as a kid?
Nope, I always thought they were stupid. I had much more pressing real things to be afraid of when I was a kid. Paging Maurry Povich!
4. Have you been doing much cooking lately?
Yes, I cook most of the time. We love eating out but budget doesn’t allow it much.
5. Something you realized you had to get over?
Being perfect or controlling stuff. I can’t really do either.
Amoure Jones says
1. Have you ever taken candy from a stranger?
No , but I have taken candy from a baby before.
2. Does lining your water line freak you out?
Not really. I just always have to do it slowly so that I don’t poke myself in the eye.
3. An urban legend that scared you as a kid?
The boogie man.
4. Have you been doing much cooking lately?
Yes, I cook all the time.
Jennifer says
1. Have you ever taken candy from a stranger? Well, yes, if we’re going to count trick-or-treating, which I’m a professional at, what with going myself as a kid and then taking Mr. 12.
2. Does lining your water line freak you out? yes even though I wear contacts. I’m always worried I’m going to slip and fall and stab the eye pencil into my eye. Plus, my eyes are sooo watery, it never lasts.
3. An urban legend that scared you as a kid? Oh sister, Bloody Mary for sure. That was all the rage at my slumber parties. I was convinced that it would work. I wouldn’t run away but I was saying the rosary to myself silently.
4. Have you been doing much cooking lately? No, I’ve been on a major summer break, which is wrapping up. We’ve been grilling and having salads or ordering takeout.
5. Something you realized you had to get over? That I’m not everyone’s cup of tea and that’s okay.
kristen @ glambunctious says
Mmmm! Green tea! I’ve been crazy for green tea lattes for a few months and have one almost every night before bed. Heat 1/4 C water, stir in green tea powder with a small whisk (amount to your liking), and I like to add in a pinch of ground ginger for it’s natural anti-inflammatory effects. Add a squeeze of agave nectar (or sugar if you prefer). Heat 3/4 C milk of your choice and stir it into your tea and water mixture, whisking like a mofo. It is seriously HEAVEN in a cup, and has helped my digestive system so much! OMG, sorry, didn’t mean to go all recipe bonkers on you! On tot he list!
1. Have you ever taken candy from a stranger? Totally asked 3 rows of fellow passengers on a place for gum! My ears pop horribly during landing and chewing gum is essential – no idea how I forget it! So happy for the kindness of strangers!
2. Does lining your water line freak you out? Nah, I’ve done it so many times, it’s no big deal.
3. An urban legend that scared you as a kid? OMG, YES! Blood Mary was all the rage at sleepovers and I was always too freaked out to participate! Also, anything involving ghosts and I was straight s–ting bricks.
4. Have you been doing much cooking lately? I’ve been doing easy meals where you basically brown some meat and stir it into pasta mixes with some sautéed veggies. But, soup season is coming and I’ll be all over that! 🙂
5. Something you realized you had to get over? Worrying more about how someone else might feel than how I felt. I heard Steve Harvey say “You can’t be afraid of what people will feel at the expense of how you feel” and it was like a lightbulb going off!
Mucho love!

1. Have you ever taken candy from a stranger? I’ve occasionally taken gum or a wrapped candy, but in a safe situation. As a kid, I never took it from some random adult or anything like that.
2. Does lining your water line freak you out? No.
3. An urban legend that scared you as a kid? None of them. I always knew they weren’t true. I always thought ghost and horror stories were fun.
4. Have you been doing much cooking lately? My husband cooks more. I do when I need to, or sometimes I just go into a domestic mode. Some days my back injury hurt enough I can’t stand for a long time.
5. Something you realized you had to get over? Trying to have a relationship with most of my family and extended family (not counting husband and kids). It’s too dysfunctional, and I get abused and used and nothing out of it but pain and a broken heart. My one brother is the exception; he’s a really good guy.

1. Have you ever taken candy from a stranger? Not that I recall.
2. Does lining your water line freak you out? Not at all. I get all up in the upper and lower rims like whoa.
3. An urban legend that scared you as a kid? I didn’t like Bloody Mary none too much either.
4. Have you been doing much cooking lately? No, but I’d like to learn. Last time I cooked was corn bread.
5. Something you realized you had to get over? Rumination over stuff that doesn’t matter.
