You might be wondering, “So what the heck is this Monday Poll thing anyway?”
Well, it isn’t much of a poll. It’s more just a constantly evolving (devolving?), somewhat random list of questions I’ve been putting out to readers every Monday morning for the past four years. I’ve always enjoyed reading your answers in the comments, and I hope you enjoy reading mine.
- What was the last dish you cooked/prepared?
Last night I made a Thai-themed tomato and coconut curry with shrimp, and it wasn’t half bad, if I do say so myself. 🙂 - What level of coverage do you prefer when it comes to your face makeup products?
For regular, run-o’-the-mill days, I like light coverage. Tinted moisturizers, or thereabouts, with a light dusting of translucent powder. But when I’m going to be taking pics for the blog or getting ready for a special event (say, something fancier than Trader Joe’s or Petco for Tabs), I usually wear a full-coverage foundation and powder.
- What’s your favorite yoga pose?
The happy baby. Because, ya know, I can do it lying down, LOL! - What’s your favorite flower?
It changes from time to time, but right now it’s freesia. - You receive your choice of lollipops today as a reward for being just plain awesome. Which flavor do you choose?
Wow, thank you. I’ll take either a Butterscotch or Cafe Latte lolly from See’s Candies, please. - Have you ever lived with roommates?
Yup, all throughout college and my 20s, and I don’t really think I’m built for it. I like my privacy, to be honest, and really value my alone time. Plus, I have some…quirks (please, PLEASE change the toilet paper roll when it runs out!!!).I do love living with El Hub and Tabs, though. They appear to tolerate my weirdness. 🙂
- Have you ever ridden/driven in a convertible?
Just once. On a family visit to Hawaii a few years ago, El Hub and I rented a convertible Mustang.I dunno… I wasn’t really into it. Thing was hella noisy (even with the top up), and the few times we put the top down, driving through that humid, tropical air, my hair turned into a hot mess!
- I’ve always wanted to…
Spend an entire weekend doing my own thing, no appointments or schedules, at a luxurious spa with a kick-@ss swimming pool. - Something that doesn’t move you?
Expensive jewelry. I know some girls love their shiny baubles, and I think they’re pretty, too, but I have a bad habit of losing earrings and necklaces… I think I’m better off going the costume route. - When’s the best time of year to visit your neck of the woods?
To me, it’s the early fall, around September or October. That’s when the weather here in the Bay Area is at its best. It’s pretty warm, but not too hot, reasonably consistent, which is a big thing around here where it can swing 30 degrees from day to day, and the crowds are a bit lighter.
To complete the Monday Poll, just copy the following list, and paste it with your answers in the comments.

Laura says
1. What was the last dish you cooked/prepared? My lunch earlier today. When you’re on your own, it’s just a habit, nothing extraordinary.
2. What level of coverage do you prefer when it comes to your face makeup products? Depends if I have breakouts or not. Most of the time I like medium coverage, I still want my real skin to be seen. Full coverage is for those days where I’m all zits and rednesses.
3. What’s your favorite yoga pose? I’m not a yoga person.
4. Favorite flower? Hibiscus. Screams sunshine and tropical weather.
5. You receive your choice of lollipops today as a reward for being just plain awesome. Which flavor do you choose? I’m not a big lollipop fan but occasionally any flavor will do.
6. Have you ever lived with roommates? Oh yea plenty of times. The first time I was 19 and I got a summer job at WDW in Orlando. We were 8 girls sharing an apartment. Talk about nightmare. Then I lived one year in Ireland during college and I shared a place with 4 other girls. Still terrible. Then I had a summer job in Corsica 3 summers in a row and I just had to share a room with 1 girl. She was awesome.
7. Have you ever ridden/driven in a convertible? I’ve ridden one yea. Awful for my hair, but god that was fun to just sunbathe on the back seat…
8. I’ve always wanted to… be a cowboy! Ride a horse for miles and miles in the west… feeling like in an old western movie… with no gunshots though.
9. Something that doesn’t move you? Rich people with dating problems. Come on!
10. When’s the best time of year to visit your neck of the woods? May! No tourists yet, sunshine, warm weather… My favorite month and my birthday month too!
Karen says
Hi Laura,
Your summer job in Corsica sounds cool. What did you do?
Laura says
I was a bartender in a five stars hotel.
Kiss & Make-up says
Woohoo, poll day!
1. What was the last dish you cooked/prepared? We actually just finished dinner. It was spirelli with green pesto and salmon.
2. What level of coverage do you prefer when it comes to your face makeup products? Depends on the product. I like my foundation to look natural while still providing medium coverage. Blush should be really pigmented. And bronzer should be subtle.
3. What’s your favorite yoga pose? The snake.
4. Favorite flower? A lilly.
5. You receive your choice of lollipops today as a reward for being just plain awesome. Which flavor do you choose? Something boring and predictable like strawberry 🙂 I don’t really like lollipops. Can’t I have chocolate instead?
6. Have you ever lived with roommates? Never, and thank god. I am way too difficult for that.
7. Have you ever ridden/driven in a convertible? I don’t think so. I hope I get to some day though 🙂
8. I’ve always wanted to…
9. Something that doesn’t move you? Babies and kids. I don’t have any motherly feelings whatsoever. Now puppies and other baby animals on the other hand… 🙂
10. When’s the best time of year to visit your neck of the woods? I have only been living in this country for a month now, but I’d say either winter (skiing!) or summer (hiking!).
Karen says
How are you liking living in your new country?
Melissa says
1. What was the last dish you cooked/prepared?: Couscous with chicken, olives, preserved lemons, and some other vegetables. My favorite.
2. What level of coverage do you prefer when it comes to your face makeup products?: Very sheer. I hate feeling products on my face, so usually just a BB cream and concealor as needed. Then a mattifying powder and I’m set.
3. What’s your favorite yoga pose?: I don’t really do yoga, but the downward facing dog feels really good on your back!
4. Favorite flower?: I have a huge cherry blossom tree outside of my bedroom window, and it’s one of my favorite times of year when they start to bloom. Camellias are lovely too.
5. You receive your choice of lollipops today as a reward for being just plain awesome. Which flavor do you choose?: Apple!
6. Have you ever lived with roommates?: Yes, during my college years. Definitely not for me. I need my own space.
7. Have you ever ridden/driven in a convertible?: Never! I can’t even imagine how messed up my hair would get.
8. I’ve always wanted to…: learn to swim! I can barely do a doggy paddle.
9. Something that doesn’t move you?: When people complain about how much work they have to do. I see this a lot with other girls in my grad program. If they spend the time they waste complaining, they might actually get things done.
10. When’s the best time of year to visit your neck of the woods?: New York in Autumn is beautiful. October particularly holds a special place in my heart.
Karen says
Your couscous dish sounds delicious, Melissa! What spices do you put in it?
Melissa says
Depends what I have on hand! Usually it’s some turmeric, paprika, pepper, cumin, cardamom, and a little bit of cinnamon 🙂 It stains EVERYTHING though.
Ruchita says
1. What was the last dish you cooked/prepared?
I made brownies with chocolate frosting. They were amazing and very dangerous for a chocoholic like me. I gave some away b/c they are not good for my waistline!
2. What level of coverage do you prefer when it comes to your face makeup products?
Medium coverage. Lately, I’ve been digging the combo of BB cream and foundation.
3. What’s your favorite yoga pose?
Hm, not sure. I haven’t done too much yoga.
4. Favorite flower?
I love lilies.
5. You receive your choice of lollipops today as a reward for being just plain awesome. Which flavor do you choose?
Strawberry.
6. Have you ever lived with roommates?
Yep, in college when I lived in the dorms and then one year I had an apartment with two other girls. If I wasn’t married, I’d definitely live by myself. I like having my alone time. Heck, even now I like having some alone time! 🙂 Sometimes my husband will go out with friends on the weekend and I’m perfectly content to putter around the house.
7. Have you ever ridden/driven in a convertible?
Yes, we rented one in Maui. It was fun, except my hair got crazy tangled. I guess that’s why in old movies the ladies wear scarves.
8. I’ve always wanted to…
Go on a shopping spree where money is no object.
9. Something that doesn’t move you?
Bags and clothing with designer logos and labels. I used go for that when I was younger (i.e. the Liz Claiborne purses with the triangles) but not any more.
10. When’s the best time of year to visit your neck of the woods?
In the spring or fall when the weather is most temperate. However, the hot summer is fun for outdoor activities like boating.
P.S. I tried doing a smokey eye this weekend, but I was in a hurry and it didn’t turn out as expected. I’m going to try again. Practice makes perfect! 🙂
Karen says
Hi Ruchita,
I was just about to ask you if you baked anything over the weekend. Those brownies sound deliciously dangerous.
So, the smokey eye! Glad you gave it a go. With practice you’ll be able to get the hang of it. 🙂 What products did you use?
Ruchita says
I have a glass of milk with the brownies b/c it seems healthier that way. 🙂
For the smokey eye I used a black kohl liner from Rimmel and Creep & Gunmetal from the UD Naked palette. I liked the colors, just need to work on technique.
Leah @ Mile High Beauty Blog says
1. What was the last dish you cooked/prepared? Last night we grilled steaks with twice baked potatoes and grilled carrots. Yum!
2. What level of coverage do you prefer when it comes to your face makeup products? Medium. I need some help with pigmentation but anything too heavy looks really obvious on my pale skin.

4. Favorite flower? Blue or purple Hydrangeas. I worked in Nantucket for a summer and just love them.
5. You receive your choice of lollipops today a s a reward for being just plain awesome. Which flavor do you choose? Bubblegum or Cherry.

8. I’ve always wanted to… Own a horse out here in Colorado and ride around the mountains.
9. Something that doesn’t move you? Large venue concerts. I just don’t like them. parking is a hassle and they always start late and then it takes forever to get out of said parking lots and get home. I like music as much as the next gal but I just prefer it at home or in smaller venues.
10. When’s the best time of year to visit your neck of the woods? Everyone thinks winter and skiing when it comes to Colorado but I’m a big fan of late summer and fall. The weather is still really warm so you can hike or fish or do what I do which is visit a nice resort and hang out in the pool in the mountains. You also don’t have to worry about getting stuck on I-70 in a blizzard at the top of Vail pass.
Karen says
Colorado sounds beautiful in the summer. What are your favorite mountain resorts? Any of them have a nice spa?
Leah @ Mile High Beauty Blog says
I love Beaver Creek, and not just because that’s where we got married. It’s just past Vail but unlike Vail it’s set way off the highway so you’re much more secluded. It’s gorgeous. The Hyatt and the Ritz have amazing spas.
Karen says
Ahhh! I want to go! I desperately need a vacation where all I do is sit next to a pool. 🙂

Katherine G says
1. What was the last dish you cooked/prepared?
~The fiance and I made dirty rice with ground deer meat – yummy! And makes plenty of leftovers, too.
2. What level of coverage do you prefer when it comes to your face makeup products?
~I’ve been using BB cream a lot and have just bought a CC cream to try out (I feel like my skin gets put through the ringer with working out and running outside in the elements, so I like foundations that moisturize). I usually like a thicker concealer for zit coverage.
3. What’s your favorite yoga pose?
~I love handstand, backbend, forearm stand, and scorpion. They are all very difficult and take a lot of practice to achieve, and I am not where I’d like to be with them but I can get up in them with the assistance of a wall. I also like Crane because it’s good prep for handstands.
4. Favorite flower?
~Roses. I am sucker for the smell of roses, especially yellow roses.
5. You receive your choice of lollipops today as a reward for being just plain awesome. Which flavor do you choose?
~Hmmmm…orange is a fave flavor of mine so I’ll go with that.
6. Have you ever lived with roommates?

7. Have you ever ridden/driven in a convertible?
~I can’t remember if I have or not.
8. I’ve always wanted to…
~Take a vacation where it’s equal parts relaxing and equal parts active – I loved my cruise but I never did check out the spa onboard the ship….
9. Something that doesn’t move you?
~I would say for the most part death – I’ve seen so much of it that I’m desensitized to it (or it hits me later if it was trauma or young person). What doesn’t bother me typically bothers most people, and I tend to get bothered at the little things in life, like bad drivers or worrying about getting somewhere early enough.
10. When’s the best time of year to visit your neck of the woods?
~I would say spring – when there has been snow here the rivers are a beautiful blue-green color and full, not empty. It’s also prime whitewater kayaking time, even if it’s a bit chilly, because summer can bring a drought.
Karen says
Hi Katherine,
Which CC cream did you get? 🙂
Katherine G says
I got the new Olay one. Can’t wait to try it! Been finding that even at 25 my skin needs TLC so trying to baby it as much as I can.

Karen says
Hi Agata,
So happy to hear you’re liking the lighter coverage with the new NARS TM! 🙂
I can’t imagine living with seven people. The most I’ve ever lived with was five people and one dog, and I was ready to get outta there in two weeks, LOL!
Agata says
Yes, I really like the Nars TM. I used it with Hourglass ambient powder and it looked beautiful. And I love this Nars radiant concealer too.

Chicken Tikka Masala with added peas, brown jasmine rice (trying to add in some healthy)

3. What’s your favorite yoga pose?

Hard to choose. I love sunflowers, but I also really love poppies and freesias (my neighbor has some that have started blooming in her yard and they are amazing)… and I love our roses, esp. the peach one.
5. You receive your choice of lollipops today as a reward for being just plain awesome. Which flavor do you choose?
Tropical Punch!
6. Have you ever lived with roommates?
YES! In college and then again in grad school. I’ve had good ones and bad ones, but mostly good.

Spend a week-end a a posh spa with no worries about budgets…
9. Something that doesn’t move you? Reality shows. Who cares what rich housewives do?
10. When’s the best time of year to visit your neck of the woods?
If you live in a cold climate, then January is good because it’s usually 65F and sunny here in San Diego, although winter is our “rainy season” and it *might* drizzle for up to 3 days at a time… but I really like spring (March-APril) when I can drive out to the desert and see the wildflowers (if it rained in the winter)…and October is usually very nice as well.
Hope you are having a fabulous week! Happy Monday!

8. I’ve always wanted to…take a year off from work and just travel.
9. Something that doesn’t move you? Over-the-top Valentine’s Day gifts. I would rather get flowers or a nice card on a random day than on a day it’s expected.
10. When’s the best time of year to visit your neck of the woods? The fall – SoCal is way too hot in the summer. It’s nice in October…and there aren’t may tourists around then either.

3. What’s your favorite yoga pose? Legs up the wall pose, easier than shoulderstand.

6. Have you ever lived with roommates? Not with a roommate but with some colleague in an appartment, it was okay. Oh and on holiday I shared a room with another girl to save money. And this – totally strangers – was better than sharing a room with a friend.
7. Have you ever ridden/driven in a convertible? Yes with a friend years ago, loud and windy.
8. I’ve always wanted to… ride a horse
9. Something that doesn’t move you? Expensive cars, I like spending my money on something else and expensive meals with some famous cooks, it’s just food in the end.
10. When’s the best time of year to visit your neck of the woods? In spring or in September.
Karen says
Toast with avocado counts. I’ve never tried that before. Do you just use plain avocado?
Jeri says
LOL I thought I was the only one into “avacado on toast” for a meal. My lazy go-to meal – beats the drive through. Usually I sprinkle some sea salt on it. If I feel like “cooking,” I’ll broil it with parm cheese on it.
Yogirl says
Yes, sea salt, and very important: chili flakes!
I saw it on a breakfast menu in a cafe in London last year. And it is great!
S. Wallace says
1. What was the last dish you cooked/prepared?
Pork Chop(with cream of mushroom soup, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans & Salad.

7. Have you ever ridden/driven in a convertible?

2. What level of coverage do you prefer when it comes to your face makeup products? Definitely light, a la tinted moisturizer.
3. What’s your favorite yoga pose? I think Warrior; it just feels like I’m getting stronger and more grounded each second. Until the shaking starts. HAHA!

5. You receive your choice of lollipops today as a reward for being just plain awesome. Which flavor do you choose? Grape Blow Pop, please.

7. Have you ever ridden/driven in a convertible? Yes, one of my best friends had one when we were in high school and I rode in it pretty much every day. You’re right about it being loud and, up here in the great, white north, they are freezing in the winter.
8. I’ve always wanted to… sing well.
9. Something that doesn’t move you? Jazz. It’s just too scatty for me. Come to think of it, fine art doesn’t do much for me either (unless it’s sculpture). My cultured-meter is shamefully low sometimes. 🙂
10. When’s the best time of year to visit your neck of the woods? It depends what you like. My favorite time is fall, which is beautiful with the changing leaves and all the hiking. Summer is great if you’re into doing things on the lake (boating, swimming, fishing, etc) and winter is perfect for skiing/snow sports.
Karen says
Hi lady!
How was the hockey tournament? Did the boys have fun?
Kim says
Hello! 🙂
One of the boys was fantastic (he always gives 100% effort) but the team as a whole didn’t do well. My other little guy was so sick that he actually had to come off the bench in our last game because he thought he was going to throw up. Poor, little bird. He insisted he wanted to play but it was easy to see he wasn’t well. 🙁 Other than that, they had a blast. We were all on the same floor in the hotel (which was very liberal about the noise) and they played together and swam in the pool during all our down time. A really great weekend for them. 🙂 I was sorry to read that you had a migraine all weekend. That’s terrible. I’m glad you’re better, though!!
Maria says

8. I’ve always wanted to… travel the world for a few months without money issues.
9. Something that doesn’t move you? The plight of the homeless. I wish the people with mental illness could be weeded out and helped. The rest should be working.
10. When’s the best time of year to visit your neck of the woods? I love August and September in Northern California. It’s the best time to go to SF and the beaches around here.
Karen says
Hi Maria,
Breakfast for dinner is the best!
What part of the Bay are you from? I grew up in the East Bay and now live in the North Bay.
Maria says
San Jose. I lived in Newark for 18 months, otherwise, San Jose for 39ish years…. Napa looks beautiful. If I didn’t work in tech, I’d love to live up there!!!
Julia Alkaseltzer says

5. You receive your choice of lollipops today as a reward for being just plain awesome. Which flavor do you choose?
Blueberry or Cherry. Yum!
6. Have you ever lived with roommates?
I’ve lived with different roommates for every year I was in college. And just last Saturday, my sister unofficially moved in (official when she finds a job). It’s got its pros and cons. I have to adjust with living with another person again but so far it’s been great this time! 🙂
7. Have you ever ridden/driven in a convertible?
I don’t think so. But every time I see someone driving one, I think, “woww, driving in style!” haha.

Literally about five minutes ago I made a stir fry of veggies (sugar snap peas!) with garlic powder and pepper. Yum!
2. What level of coverage do you prefer when it comes to your face makeup products?
I need light to medium coverage, but as time goes by I seem to need less and less, luckily!

4. Favorite flower?

Somehow I haven’t even though my uncle owns one.
8. I’ve always wanted to…
Take a few months off and travel the world.
9. Something that doesn’t move you?
Popularity is something I don’t really place much value on. It isn’t important to me like it is to a lot of teenage girls my age.
10. When’s the best time of year to visit your neck of the woods?
Probably summertime, I live basically a few feet away from a really pretty waterfront path.
Karen says
Hi Emily,
Your sugar snap peas sounds yum. Did you eat them with rice?
Have a good week. 🙂

I think so. But not driven.
8. I’ve always wanted to…
jump from an airplane but I am afraid I will have a heart attack mid-air!

1. What was the last dish you cooked/prepared? Sausage, collard & potato soup – it’s my best dish and it’s extra yummy on chilly days!

4. Favorite flower? Peonies and big ol’ roses.
5. You receive your choice of lollipops today as a reward for being just plain awesome. Which flavor do you choose? Cotton Candy.
6. Have you ever lived with roommates? Yes and I too feel that I’m not built for it b/c I value my alone time and like things done a certain way. I cannot stand to have dirty dishes piled up in the sink (or dirty pots on the stove! With food left therein!) and junk everywhere. I’ve lived with my fiancée now for years and we are very compatible cohabitants!
7. Have you ever ridden/driven in a convertible? Yes, twice! Both times have been in Florida on vacations. Once my best friend and I planned to drive from Key West to Miami and we rented the cheapest economy car option they had. When we got to the rental place to pick it up, they were out of economy cars and they gave us a convertible for free! It was so cool to drive through the keys and over miles and miles of ocean with the top down. Our hair looked absolutely AMAZING later. I think it took me 2 days to get all of the knots out, lol!
8. I’ve always wanted to…1) go to Paris 2)swim with manta rays. My lifelong dream of swimming with dolphins came true in 2011 and it was the best day of my life!
9. Something that doesn’t move you? I will honestly have to keep thinking about this! I feel like a lot of things move me and couldn’t think of anything that specifically didn’t. I’m not very much into clothes, but I can still seriously appreciate a beautiful dress or a comfy-looking sweater.
10. When’s the best time of year to visit your neck of the woods? Spring in Atlanta is the best! The azaleas and dogwoods are blooming, it’s sunny and warm but not hot-as-a-mug, and it’s really beautiful here.
Karen says
Hi Kristen,
Your soup sounds yummy. Do you think I could make it with vegetarian sausage or leave out the sausage entirely?
Kristen @ Glambunctious says
Oh yes, you could def use veg sausage or just double up on the collards! Here’s the recipe if you want to give it a whirl! 😀
2 lbs ground sausage (I like to use 1 mild and 1 hot, but you can use 2 mild or 2 hot)
1 teaspoon paprika
1 large white onion, diced
4 cloves garlic, minced
10 cups chicken broth (You can also use 10 chicken boullion cubes and 10 cups of water)
About 7 large Russet potatoes, sliced into disks
1 cup heavy cream
1/4 of a bunch (about 3-4 cups) kale or collard greens, torn into bite sized pieces
Salt and pepper, to taste
Shredded Italian-blend cheese to sprinkle on top
Crusty bread for dipping
In a large soup pot, sauté together the ground sausage and paprika until the meat is browned. Drain off the excess fat and move to a different bowl. Set aside.
In the same pot, sauté the onions and garlic until softened, about 10 to 15 minutes. Add the chicken broth and heat until boiling. Add the sliced potatoes, cover, and simmer until potatoes are tender, about 30 minutes. Add the cream, kale or collards, and sausage and cook until heated thoroughly. Sprinkle cheese on top and serve with crusty bread for dipping.
Tennyoceres says
1. What was the last dish you cooked/prepared?
Rosemary chicken. A dry seasoning with lots of rosemary and a bit of cayenne to keep things interesting. My husband grilled it.
2. What level of coverage do you prefer when it comes to your face makeup products?
Werq/Day – light to medium. Usually BB cream and a touch of powder works.
Heading out/Night – medium to full.
3. What’s your favorite yoga pose?
Triangle. It’s weird getting into it but I always feel awesome when the pose is executed.

Orchid.
5. You receive your choice of lollipops today as a reward for being just plain awesome. Which flavor do you choose?
I love chocolate, even in lollipop form.

Yes, through my college years. That’s really how my current circle of friends began.
7. Have you ever ridden/driven in a convertible?
Nope.
8. I’ve always wanted to…
Bungee jump. The logical step before a sky dive.
9. Something that doesn’t move you?
The show Girls. What’s the hype? The few episodes I watched made the lead look like a self-centered unlikable brat.
10. When’s the best time of year to visit your neck of the woods?
In the Bay Area you should visit during Indian summer. That weird time between summer and fall (late August to early October). The temperatures around here are warm without getting hot, cold without being freezing.
Karen says
Hi Tennoyceres,
I vote going straight to sky diving. I’ve done it before and it’s amazing!
Sherice says
1. What was the last dish you cooked/prepared?
I made Moroccan chicken ans penne pasta about 3 days ago
2. What level of coverage do you prefer when it comes to your face makeup products?
I’m not a foundation/powder girl…I love eyeshadow but have been getting into lipstick a lot lately. I like to let my face breathe and I’ve always been afraid that I won’t look like myself if I grow too dependant on face cover ups.
3. What’s your favorite yoga pose?
Not a yogi, at least not yet! It’s on my bucket list lol
4. Favorite flower?
I pretty much like them all! I really love daisies though.
5. You receive your choice of lollipops today as a reward for being just plain awesome. Which flavor do you choose?
Sour Apple or Strawberry Blow Pop, please!
6. Have you ever lived with roommates?
Not literally…my mom practically raised a few of my friends growing up. They didn’t all have good home lives and she opened her doors to them when they needed it for various legnths of time throughout my child hood. As a young(er) adult I would let friends live with me from timr to time…I wouldn’t really consider it a roomie situation though. (Longest answer award goes to….ME! I’ll take that Blow Pop now lol)
7. Have you ever ridden/driven in a convertible?
I have. I’m not a fan. I’m the girl always trying to keep my hair from flying and getting in my face, thus getting stuck to my lip gloss :-/
8. I’ve always wanted to…
Have my own blog. Get over my fear of flying. Become a licensed cosmetologist. Visit Greece. The list goes on and on…
9. Something that doesn’t move you?
I’m not really a traveler. I’m more of a homebody. Flying terrifies me although I’d love to see several places in the world.
10. When’s the best time of year to visit your neck of the woods?
I wouldn’t suggest any time of year lol. Sad to say. It’s quite boring where I live. The summers are HOT, and the winters are COLD (and I live in California!) But if I had to pick one, I’d say Spring. =)
Karen says
Start your blog, Sherice! 🙂 Writing is fun and there’s no time like the present.
Have a great week!

3. What’s your favorite yoga pose?
I don’t have one.

learn French.
9. Something that doesn’t move you?
Reality shows. I just don’t get the hype.
10. When’s the best time of year to visit your neck of the woods?
Summer. Senigallia is a small coastal town and there’s absolutely nothing to do during the rest of the year.
Karen says
Hi Gio,
Your town sounds quaint and pretty. Have you always lived there?
Stephanie Smith says
1. What was the last dish you cooked/prepared? Last night I made chili dogs, which was our last meal of junk, before we go Paleo today!
2. What level of coverage do you prefer when it comes to your face makeup products? Light! I have pretty good skin so I only use light coverage, and only when I’m going out. Normal days it’s just my daytime moisturizer with SPF.
3. What’s your favorite yoga pose? Down Dog, it just feels good.
4. Favorite flower? Daisies! They’re happy and bright!
5. You receive your choice of lollipops today as a reward for being just plain awesome. Which flavor do you choose? A Red Tootsie Pop!

8. I’ve always wanted to… be able to run more than a half mile without dying, and I think that’s happening! Practice makes perfect!
9. Something that doesn’t move you? All those shows that are so popular, “Downton Abbey”, “Mad Men”, “True Blood”, “Game of Thrones.” I don’t watch them, I don’t want to watch them, they just aren’t for me.
10. When’s the best time of year to visit your neck of the woods? Spring, and Summer. It’s hot hot hot in Summer, but I like it hot, and we have a pool, and fruit is delicious, and the evenings are amazing!
Karen says
Hi Stephanie,
What made you decide to go Paleo? I’ve read about it and think it sounds interesting, but I probably wouldn’t be able to do it.
Ines, Cha Cha & LeRoux says
I’ve gone full on Paleo since January 2013. I’ve done it in combination with Crossfit, Yoga & Olympic Lifting to build up my strength and flexibility in dancing.
My main motivation was that I was truly disturbed by the way processed foods were made and how much sugar, GMO corn/soy, and other chemicals were hidden in commercially prepared foods.
I read up a lot on it and decided to take the plunge, and I don’t regret it.
I’ve lowered my body fat from 18.5% to 15.6% in 1 month, and my back squat has gone up from 115 when I started to 145 pounds now (not a lot by any means but I am fairly small to begin with, which will mean I can’t lift as heavy as someone who is bigger). My cardio as measured by a 2 minute burpee test went from 39 burpees to 42, and while I am the same size, I weigh 13 pounds more than when I started crossfit (107 to 120 pounds) – indicating a gain in pure muscle.
I feel great (no more 3pm sugar crash for me, hooray!) and I’m trying out new things, like signing up for a Spartan Race in May, and regular kickboxing classes. Plus it’s badass when your guy friends bet $5 you can’t do any toes to bars or pushups, and you prove them wrong.
Karen says
Interesting! Is it hard to prep your meals? I have a feeling that it would be really difficult for me to do it because I don’t have a lot of time to cook, and I’m kind of picky about what I eat, you know?
Wendy M. says
1. What was the last dish you cooked/prepared? My absolutely favorite pasta. It’s a buttery, mushroom-y heaven.
2. What level of coverage do you prefer when it comes to your face makeup products? Medium to full coverage.
3. What’s your favorite yoga pose? Not into yoga… but I’d like to get into it someday. Just seems like a good way to be zen.
4. Favorite flower? I have two… gardenias and sunflowers.
5. You receive your choice of lollipops today as a reward for being just plain awesome. Which flavor do you choose? Sour apple!
6. Have you ever lived with roommates? Nope.
7. Have you ever ridden/driven in a convertible? I don’t think so. Am I missing out? Though I have when it’s been windy with the windows down… same effect? 😛
8. I’ve always wanted to… get a tattoo but haven’t quite made my mind up about it.
9. Something that doesn’t move you? Sob stories on reality TV.
10. When’s the best time of year to visit your neck of the woods? Hmm… I’d say March-May because afterwards it just gets really hot. -_-
Happy Monday, Karen and Tabs! 🙂
Karen says
Hi Wendy,

2. What level of coverage do you prefer when it comes to your face makeup products?
Sheer/natural, with a dewy finish.
3. What’s your favorite yoga pose?
Hanumanasana (monkey pose or front splits). I also love natarajasana (lord of the dance pose) and Supta Badda Konasana (reclined cobbler’s pose) – all open the hips and feel fantastic.
4. Favorite flower?
Roses and gardenias.
5. You receive your choice of lollipops today as a reward for being just plain awesome. Which flavor do you choose?
I’ve gone full on paleo so I don’t think lollipops are in the question for me anymore. However, I will take a bar of dark chocolate (not fully paleo but acceptable as a “primal food”).
6. Have you ever lived with roommates?
Yes. Cannot say I liked it due to differing levels of organization.
7. Have you ever ridden/driven in a convertible?
Yes. However, I prefer hard tops with a sun roof.

People that complain a lot but fail to take proactive measures.

The summer – between July and September.
Karen says
Hi Ines,
How’s it going? Are you still dancing? Hope the kitties are doing great!
Linda says
1. What was the last dish you cooked/prepared?
– I made some lemon chicken with mashed potatoes and a salad yesterday. Aside from makeup, cooking is one of my hobbies!
2. What level of coverage do you prefer when it comes to your face makeup products?

3. What’s your favorite yoga pose?
– I don’t do yoga! But I want to.
4. Favorite flower?
– Tulips and orchids.
5. You receive your choice of lollipops today as a reward for being just plain awesome. Which flavor do you choose?

– No, and it doesn’t really appeal to me. My hair!
8. I’ve always wanted to…
– Travel with my significant other around my home country.
9. Something that doesn’t move you?
– Doctor Who. Don’t get the appeal and never will.
10. When’s the best time of year to visit your neck of the woods?
– Texas is crazy year round so I may say spring but sometimes the fall is nice.
Phyrra says
1. What was the last dish you cooked/prepared?
Salmon baked in key lime honey mustard sauce.
2. What level of coverage do you prefer when it comes to your face makeup products?

3. What’s your favorite yoga pose?
Tree Pose
4. Favorite flower?
Orchids
5. You receive your choice of lollipops today as a reward for being just plain awesome. Which flavor do you choose?
Chocolate cherry.
6. Have you ever lived with roommates?
yes.
7. Have you ever ridden/driven in a convertible?

8. I’ve always wanted to…
Live overseas.
9. Something that doesn’t move you?
Flowers. I’m allergic.
10. When’s the best time of year to visit your neck of the woods?
I’d say all year round, because I’m in Tampa, but most people probably prefer the Winter.
Gotham Polish says
1. What was the last dish you cooked/prepared?
Mushroom barley soup – we didn’t use any particular recipe, just threw in some veggies!
2. What level of coverage do you prefer when it comes to your face makeup products?
Medium… I don’t like any foundation that feels too thick and like paste to apply, but I can’t get away with something as light as a tinted moisturizer. Right now I’m using the L’Oreal True Match!
3. What’s your favorite yoga pose?
Gosh I haven’t done yoga in a long time, but there was one on the Wii called “Greet the sun”? It was refreshing and not too hard 🙂
4. Favorite flower?
I like lilacs and hyacinths – they smell so nice!
5. You receive your choice of lollipops today as a reward for being just plain awesome. Which flavor do you choose?
I really like blue raspberry, even though it would turn my tongue blue!
6. Have you ever lived with roommates?
Yep, college
7. Have you ever ridden/driven in a convertible?
Nope
8. I’ve always wanted to…
Visit Paris!
9. Something that doesn’t move you?
10. When’s the best time of year to visit your neck of the woods?
People like to visit NYC anytime of year – I personally love it in the fall!
Kate & Zena says
It’s been a looooong while since I did one of these!
1. What was the last dish you cooked/prepared?
Marinated lemon pepper chicken, noodles, garlic bread and corn!
2. What level of coverage do you prefer when it comes to your face makeup products?
Sheer or low coverage. I don’t really need that much coverage nor do I really like it. Anything above that and I feel like I don’t look like myself really.
3. What’s your favorite yoga pose?
Dead man’s pose or Child’s pose. I’m sorry, but they are so relaxing and they don’t require a lot of flexibility (which I don’t have.) I also love the Rag Doll; it’s where I just let my top half hang down to the earth and slightly bend my knees and then I slowly move upwards and stack all of my vertebrae on top of each other. That really helps on period days when my lower back really aches.
4. Favorite flower?
Purple irises or daisies.
5. You receive your choice of lollipops today as a reward for being just plain awesome. Which flavor do you choose?
Cherry. Or Grape. I can never pick between those two flavors. Sometimes cherry tastes too medicinal so I pick grape and sometimes grape tastes too grapey for me!
6. Have you ever lived with roommates?
Not unless you count Zena.
7. Have you ever ridden/driven in a convertible?
No, nor do I want to!
8. I’ve always wanted to…
have my cards done (Tarot.) I know it’s total BS, but it’s a total curiosity of mine.
9. Something that doesn’t move you?
Big, chunky jewelry or anything too architectural. The former just makes my neck ache which causes a migraine. The latter just makes me scratch my head as I try to understand it. I tend to love very romantic, very flowy pieces when it comes to artwork.
10. When’s the best time of year to visit your neck of the woods?
The late spring, early summer (it’s not too hot or humid) or very late summer, early fall (where the humidity is falling.) Coming in high summer means you are coming when it’s about 90 degrees and 90% humidity which means you are dealing with what feels like 100+ temps. It’s NASTY. Come in early spring like now and you still have snow on the ground, the possibility of more snow and it’s cold. Come in late fall and it’s bloody cold. And winter…..it’s just too dry and too cold.
Chelsea says
1. What was the last dish you cooked/prepared? I just browned some ground chicken and mixed it with spaghetti sauce, canned tomatoes, and spinach, and served it over quinoa pasta with parmesan! YUM.
2. What level of coverage do you prefer when it comes to your face makeup products? Buildable/Moderate.
3. What’s your favorite yoga pose? Probably Warrior II!
4. Favorite flower? So hard to choose! I love daffodils, daisies, and lilies. Scent-wise, I love cherry blossom! (Just bought some L’Occitane perfume that’s Cherry Blossom scented, it is off the chain!)
5. You receive your choice of lollipops today as a reward for being just plain awesome. Which flavor do you choose? Cherry or strawberry!
6. Have you ever lived with roommates? Just my fiance (and my brother when we were kids)
7. Have you ever ridden/driven in a convertible? I don’t think so!
8. I’ve always wanted to… try living abroad!
9. Something that doesn’t move you? I’m with you on expensive jewelry. The only things I wear on a regular basis are my very modest engagement ring, and sometimes some jewelry I’ve gotten from my grandma (a really nice gold bangle, and a nice pearl ring). I don’t really wear necklaces at all to be honest.
10. When’s the best time of year to visit your neck of the woods? Fall!
Christina says
1. What was the last dish you cooked/prepared? I *think* it was a ratatouille tart! If you use a frozen store bought crust and fresh veggies, it’s surprisingly easy and ridiculously delicious!
2. What level of coverage do you prefer when it comes to your face makeup products? Usually light coverage for an everyday face and medium coverage if I’m doing something special or fancy.
3. What’s your favorite yoga pose? Probably savasana because you’re just lying down and it feels real good after an intense yoga session.
4. Favorite flower? I really like sunflowers. They just seem like a warm, happy flower.
5. You receive your choice of lollipops today as a reward for being just plain awesome. Which flavor do you choose?
6. Have you ever lived with roommates? Yes, my first two years of college. It was… interesting but just not meant for me. I like my privacy, peace and quiet, and I need an intense studying atmosphere sometimes. I absolutely adored my 2nd year roommate (my college best friend!) but… we’re not compatible roommates XD
7. Have you ever ridden/driven in a convertible? I rode in a convertible when I was in elementary school. My GATE teacher had taken us on a field trip and I was allowed to be one of the students to ride with her. I remember being afraid that something (like a squirrel) would drop out of nowhere and attack us 😛
8. I’ve always wanted to… just spend an entire day relaxing and crafting. One of my latest craft indulgences is to learn how to spin my own yarn someday. But spa day + crocheting/knitting + curling up with a good book = BEST DAY EVER
9. Something that doesn’t move you? I’m not particularly a huge fan of clubbing. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the fact that I’m with my friends and I do enjoy dancing but, eh, I guess the club scene isn’t for me.
10. When’s the best time of year to visit your neck of the woods? Hmmm I guess I’m lucky that San Diego has pretty lovely weather *almost* the entire-year round. But January-March can have some pretty weird hot-then-abruptly-rain-cold spells that throw us San Diegans for a loop! But I guess you can’t beat spring, summer, and fall here unless we’re having a huge heat wave.
Trude says
1. What was the last dish you cooked/prepared? I made simple quesdillas and salad last night, but that doesn’t really count. I made Pioneer Woman’s pasta with tomato cream sauce over the weekend. 🙂
2. What level of coverage do you prefer when it comes to your face makeup products? Usually pretty full, because I’m so red and uneven naturally.
