You might be wondering, “So what the heck is this Monday Poll thing anyway?”
Well, it isn’t much of a poll. It’s more just a constantly evolving (devolving?), somewhat random list of questions I’ve been putting out to readers every Monday morning for the past four years. I’ve always enjoyed reading your answers in the comments, and I hope you enjoy reading mine.
- Mood:
Happy and mellow. - What are you passionate about?
Cats, makeup and blogging (obvs). And sleeping (LOL! It’s true though), movies, books, shoes and self-improvement. - Do you have a favorite museum?
The Musée d’Orsay in Paris. I’ve only been there once, and I’ve been plotting a return trip ever since. I love me some Impressionists. Oh, and the lightning in there is ah-may-zing! I could spend days there just marveling at how the light falls on the paintings and sculptures. - What’s at the top of your gift wishlist this year?
Nordstrom gift cards, because my plan is it save up a few of them for a Burberry trench coat. It’s part of my new, updated wardrobe plan for 2013.If it looks like something Angelina Jolie or Jennifer Aniston might wear, then I’m going for it.
- Do you ever host dinner parties?
Nope. But I could see myself wanting to if I had more time to practice cooking. I think it would be fun! - One of your favorite holiday memories?
The time Tabs knocked down our tree, kitty-ninja style.A couple years ago, I was sitting in the living room with my back to the tree when I heard a crash! I whipped around, and there it was, the tree, lying on its side, and I heard a scampering sound moving off into the distance…
Tabs!
To this day, I have no idea exactly how he did it. Was he trying to climb it or intentionally push it over? The world may never know…
I can joke about it now, but I was furious at the time.
- I’m a chronic_________.
Over-packer, but I’m working on it. - What makes you go “arrrggh”?
- Traffic on 880 South freeway when I’m driving home to see my parents
- Paper cuts
- When people handle money and then touch my food (on second thought, that’s more “ewww”)
- When someone repeatedly kicks the back of my chair
- When I don’t have time to exercise but really, really want to
- What’s one of the best things you accomplished this year?
Hmm… Nothing too huge. Maybe painting my dining room and finally deciding on a table. It only took three years! — but I really like how they turned out.
- Weekly goals:
To remember to take breaks throughout the day, to wrap a few presents, and to get my hair cut on Friday (FINALLY).
G’morning, sweets. 🙂
I hope your Monday got off to a swell start, but if it didn’t and you could use some cheering up, perhaps this link from reader Hafsa can help: 29 Guilty Faces of Cats in Christmas Trees.
Haha! I know, I know… I better laugh now because I won’t be laughing when Tabs unleashes his wrath on my poor tree…
I finally got some lights and ornaments on it last weekend (only on the upper branches, though, to keep things out of Tabs’ reach).
Every time I enter the room, I half expect to find the tree ripped to shreds.
Come to think of it, I should probably check on it… While I run downstairs, you fill out the Monday Poll. I’ll be right back. 🙂
To complete the Monday Poll, just copy the following list, and paste it with your answers in the comments.

6. One of your favorite holiday memories?
Saving my friend’s Christmas tree when I visited him for the holidays several years ago.
They had gotten a real tree that was being sold by their local high school. If you had a stand from last year, you could bring it to them and the would install it for you when they delivered it.
However, the little stand was missing the rubber part to help make sure water didn’t leak out from the dish thingy. We only found out when we had the tree completely set up and tried putting water in the basin, but it would just leak out all over the carpet.
His family was starting to freak out a little, but I came up with an idea. I asked for an old rubber dog toy that the family dog didn’t play with, and cut it up to make my own stopper. We ended up using the makeshift stopper, a little bit of glue, and a plastic bag in order to keep the basin from leaking out. :3 My friend’s family likes to say that I saved their Christmas tree that year. XD
7. I’m a chronic_________.
Procrastinator. I’ll work on it…tomorrow. >>

9. What’s one of the best things you accomplished this year?
I survived a year at a job that I really hated and was unhappy at (I was constantly setting myself deadlines like "If I can make it 6 months, I can quit"). I'm currently actually pretty okay with it now, atm. I'm a little surprised at how untroubled I feel with it now, considering how much I hated it during this past year.
10. Weekly goals:
-Reschedule a certification test
-Decide on which biotech program I want to do
-Finish up my Christmas gift wrapping/buying (only two more left! and waiting for another present in the mail!)

We used to host a ton of BBQ’s, but then our friends starting adopting a wide variety of eating habits, we’ve got a vegetarian, a couple of vegans, so you can’t exactly grill a tri-tip or chicken tacos if nobody eats that stuff!
6. One of your favorite holiday memories? When I was 8, I loved unicorns, like hard-core. As every other 8 year old girl in 1984 did. I got a giant stuffed unicorn that year, named her Guinevere, and I can’t believe how much I loved her. I still love her, I still sleep with her, she’ll be 29 next week. Panic! Excitement! Fear! Joy! Relief! Anxiety! Yes, it must be those few days before the wedding day (this Friday).
2. What are you passionate about?

I haven’t stepped into the Smithsonian yet, but I have a feeling I could be there for weeks on end and still be entertained.

6. One of your favorite holiday memories? My parents surprised my sister and I one year with an actual pony (well a horse but pony sounds more fun). We went to the stable where we used to ride to give ally he horses treats on Christmas Eve and got to the last stall and there was a sign saying “Merry Christmas Leah and Diana” and our favorite lesson horse Eagle was inside with a big red bow on her neck. 5. Do you ever host dinner parties? I wish! I still feel like my house is not quite classy for dinner parties (read “furniture”).
6. One of your favorite holiday memories? All of them? I love Christmas. One of my top memories in the past few years is my Mom getting a gift from my dad that I thought of and actually went out and bought (tickets to see literally her favourite band). They were super expensive, but when the present is SO good that the person doesn’t even know what to say and doesn’t realize it at first.. pretty good moment.
7. I’m a chronic_________. Over-Packer, resolution-maker (and not keeper), and excuse giver. Working on all of them!

Pondering. Trying to figure stuff out with the week forthcoming and life in general.
2. What are you passionate about?
Cooking, writing, makeup, sleep!
3. Do you have a favorite museum?
No
4. What’s at the top of your gift wishlist this year?

2. What are you passionate about? Books. Writing. Learning. Family and friends. Well-made clothing. 🙂
3. Do you have a favorite museum? Actually, one of my favorite places in the world is a museum – the Metropolitan Museum in NY. It’s ginormous, spanning centuries of art. I would love to visit it again.
4. What’s at the top of your gift wishlist this year? I’m always looking to add to my wardrobe (sartorial AND nail polish), but nothing specifically “lust-worthy” this year.
5. Do you ever host dinner parties? I don’t have the place to do it because I live in a dorm.
6. One of your favorite holiday memories? My family doesn’t throw festive Christmas dinners anymore, so I really cherish those years when we did. When I was younger, the house would be completely decked out, particularly the dining room, which would look extravagant. All my aunts, uncles, and little cousins would have so much fun opening presents and enjoying great food. We don’t do it anymore because my mom’s getting older (and less inspired) to decorate/celebrate while I’m away.
7. I’m a chronic_________. Procrastinator. Neat Freak.
