You might be wondering, “So what the heck is this Monday Poll thing anyway?”
Well, it isn’t much of a poll. It’s more just a constantly evolving (devolving?), somewhat random list of questions I’ve been putting out to readers every Monday morning for the past four years. I’ve always enjoyed reading your answers in the comments, and I hope you enjoy reading mine.
- Mood:
Downright cheerful, and I see good things in store for us this week. 🙂 - When was the last time you got your makeup done?
Heavens, it’s been a while. Maybe six months ago at a MAC store? I remember chatting it up with a friendly artists about wearing brights in the crease, and she offered to decorate my eyes with a few of her favorite green shades. It was a blast! - Would you ever consider opening your own restaurant, bar or cafe?
I think I’ll answer this question with another one: have you ever seen Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares?? In other words, no way, I would not. I can’t cook all that well to start, and I’ve seen one too many reality TV shows about running restaurants to know how difficult the food service business can be… I think I’ll stick to the glamorous world of pet assisting instead. - What’s your idea of a great morning?
One that extends well past noon, LOL! I get to sleep in as late I want, no alarms (tabby or otherwise), and then I have a long, leisurely breakfast (French toast!). After letting my tummy settle for an hour or two, I hop on the treadmill and have a nice, long shower when I’m done with my run. Ah…heavenly. - Do you like classical music?
I do. I played classical piano growing up, so I listened to a lot of it. I like Bach for the complex arrangements and Debussy for how relaxed it makes me feel. - What’s one skill that took you a while to learn?
It took me a long while to learn how to take sharp pictures with my camera. Back when I started blogging I couldn’t take clear pics for squat. I feel like there’s still so much to learn (for me, lighting is the hardest part), but now I’m the person who usually gets handed the camera at family functions. - Which Muppet are you?
The Swedish Chef, because like him, I feel like I’m always running around frantically with chickens all over the place and babbling crazy nonsense that no one understands, LOL! - Have the last three months gone the way you expected them to?
Honestly, and I feel like a broken record sometimes, I’d hoped to be further along with some things, like clearing the boxes out of the dining room (or getting a dining room table, for that matter). I wonder if I’ll ever feel totally in control of my schedule and my life. I try and try and feel like I get pretty close sometimes, but then POOF! — the feeling disappears.I guess I just have to remember to keep things in perspective… All things considered, the past three months have been fine, and I’m probably the happiest I’ve been in a really long time.
- What would you choose as your last meal on earth?
The black garlic spaghetti grande with head-on gulf prawns, hen-of-the-woods mushrooms, calabrian chili and citrus essence from Bottega Napa Valley restaurant in Yountville… OMG, so good!Or my mom’s fried tilapia with garlic fried rice and diced tomatoes, seasoned with salt and pepper on the side (my idea of perfect comfort food).
And for dessert, I’ll take a warm, semi-sweet chocolate brownie with vanilla bean and salted caramel ice cream on the side.
- Weekly goals:
Give Tabs a good brushing, find some peppy new music to listen to, start thinking about Halloween costumes, and — wait for it — look for dining room furniture, gah!
Happy Monday, cutie pie.
ZAP!
You’ve just been zapped with a powerful blast of positive energy. Let me know if you felt it in today’s Monday Poll. 🙂

Karen says
Hi Rachael,
Cookies, how sweet! What kind are you going to make, and why a Batman theme?
Rachael says
Chocolate chip. They’ll be Batman themed, mostly because I’m gonna cover a few with question marks (a la Riddler) and hide them so he has to work for his gift. Each will have a riddle that leads to the next one. Maybe if I have time, I’ll make some to look like the bat signal, the joker face, green ivy leaves (Poison Ivy), and Scarecrow.
Also, he’s 27 and he really loves Batman.

Nina says
Of course id name a drink for him – what about Tabby Stripes? Its vanilla and chocolate milkshake with vanilla and chocolate swirls around the glass. 🙂
I also have the Linus Lover which is a hot, dark chocolate served with a huge dollop of chocolate cream.
Rounding out my Kitty Cat Drink Trio is the LOL Cat – its a cold and refreshing fruit drink made of fresh fruits in season, some yogurt and blended in ice.
Stephanie says
1. Mood: Apathetic. The whether is getting a little chillier so at least I can look a little cuter w/ the fall clothing. LOL!

10. Weekly goals:
Not staying at work until 12:30AM!!!
Karen says
Hi Stephanie,
I hear ya on early morning kitty harassment! What do your cats do to wake you up? Tabs like to launch off of my stomach. Repeatedly. 🙁
Stephanie says
Oh, goodness, what don’t they do! LOL, actually it’s not quite that bad since my hubby and I are both allergic to kitties, we designated our room as an allergen-free zone so no kitties are allowed in there. HOWEVER, if they’re feeling particularly ready for their food monkeys humans to adore them, they will incessantly “knock” on our door and meow REALLY loudly. AND they’ll take turns; it’s never just the same cat!
Karen says
Haha, but that’s why we love them — their crazy, demanding antics! 🙂
I saw on My Cat From Hell (do you ever watch that show?) that cats have a natural spike in energy at dawn because that’s one of the times when their prey is the active… it would be nice if that spike in energy didn’t involve waking up the humans, wouldn’t it?
Stephanie says
It IS why we love them!!! We have a total of four, including a special needs kitty, so I think I’m a certified CCL at this point. 😉
I don’t watch My Cat from Hell, but I know I should! It’s funny, b/c my hubby and I were talking about how they weren’t *meaning* to be so fussy, but they couldn’t help it b/c it was hunting time! I imagine Tabs must be particularly antsy since he doesn’t have any fellow felines to play with. But that’s what assistants are for, right???
Barb says

2. When was the last time you got your makeup done? Professionally? Never!

9. What would you choose as your last meal on earth? Wow, this is tough because I like to eat and I love so many different things. I’d probably go with a nice juicy tender steak, medium well. Green beans with butter and garlic and some mashed sweet potatoes.
10. Weekly goals: Try and stay healthy and get some rest.
Karen says
Hi Barb,
Lucky you that your hubby does all the cooking! If I left El Hub to his devices we’d be eating canned chili morning, noon and night, LO!L
Hope you feel better soon!
Ruchita says
Le List
1. Mood:
Not bad. I was finally able to catch up with the housework and I feel more organized now.
2. When was the last time you got your makeup done?
Hm, I don’t think I’ve ever had my makeup professionally done.
3. Would you ever consider opening your own restaurant, bar or cafe?
Heck no! 🙂 I can be very lazy at times and I value my free time. Owning my own place would be too much work.
4. What’s your idea of a great morning?
Getting to wake up at my own time without an alarm clock or hungry kitties jumping on the bed. Having a yummy breakfast of pancakes and bacon while reading a good book.
5. Do you like classical music?
Yes, but I don’t listen to it very often.
6. What’s one skill that took you a while to learn?
Learning how to properly blend my eyeshadows. I feel like I’ve finally gotten the hang of it now.
7. Which Muppet are you?
Miss Piggy b/c sometimes I feel like being a diva.
8. Have the last three months gone the way you expected them to?
Nope! I didn’t expect to rescue another kitty nor did I expect that we would be able to go on vacation. So those were good unexpected things.
9. What would you choose as your last meal on earth?
An south Indian dish called dosa – which is like a large pancake made from a battter of rice and lentils. Along with that some sambar, which is like a soup with lentils and vegetables. For dessert, warm chocolate chip cookies from the oven topped with vanilla ice cream.
10. Weekly goals:
Do my best to stay organized and on top of the housework. Work out 3 times week.
Have a great Monday!
Karen says
Hi Ruchita,
There’s a place in the next town over (about 15 minutes away) that makes dosa and I love, LOVE them. SO GOOD! Now I want to eat one, LOL!
I loved your answer to number 6, btw. What do you feel helped you become better at blending? Was it a particular type of brush or tool? Or just good ol’ fashioned practice?
Ruchita says
Yeah, I got hungry too writing about dosas. 🙂
Watching video tutorials and practice helped me get better. I don’t remember the exact name, but there’s a blending brush from Sonia Kashuk that I use all the time for blending.
Wendy says
1. Mood: Tired and worn out from a cold.
2. When was the last time you got your makeup done? At my Nordstrom’s beauty event in the spring. My Chanel makeup artist called me over the summer to ask if I wanted to make an appt with one of Chanel’s lead makeup artists. I forget his name. I schedule. But, when I get there, every chair is taken and he just started working on a walk-in. I asked them why would they even schedule appointments if they didn’t keep them. A saleslady offered to do my makeup. Why would I need to make an appointment, drive all the way there, just to let someone I could see any time do my makeup. It was beyond ridiculous. It was a waste of my time and disrespectful. I will never shop that counter again. I left and went on a bike ride with my husband.
3. Would you ever consider opening your own restaurant, bar or cafe? Oh noooo. Dealing with hungry, uncaffeninated and drunk people… haha I’ll pass.
4. What’s your idea of a great morning? Waking up feeling refreshed with plenty of time for breakfast and coffee before heading out the door.
5. Do you like classical music? Yes. That’s all my children listened to when they were young. Whenever my husband tried to turn on the radio to a rock station, they would complain that it hurt their ears. Ahhh good times. Now, they’re typical teens. But every once in awhile, I hear them humming along to classical music playing in the background.
6. What’s one skill that took you a while to learn? Sewing. I didn’t learn how to sew until I was in my 20s.
7. Which Muppet are you? At times, I can be a little like Miss. Piggy, a funny diva.
8. Have the last three months gone the way you expected them to? Not really. Some of it was out of my control. Some of it apparently wasn’t a priority.
9. What would you choose as your last meal on earth? Goodness. I have no idea. I’m such a spur of the moment eater. I prefer to eat what my body is craving at the moment.
10. Weekly goals: Get over this cold. Buy a spray bottle to fill with water.
Karen says
Hi Wendy,
I hope you feel better soon.
How old are your kids, btw?
MM Curator says
1. Mood: Sad today…guess someone’s got a case of the Mondays!
2. When was the last time you got your makeup done? Over two years ago – it was a trial for my wedding. I ended up doing my own makeup.
3. Would you ever consider opening your own restaurant, bar or cafe?
Occasionally I daydream about opening a really cute cozy little bakery and coffee shop. I’d never do it though – don’t have the business sense and it’s a ton of work!
4. What’s your idea of a great morning? – Get up and go for an early morning run, take a long hot bath and then enjoy a delicious big breakfast – omelettes, pancakes or French toast…I’m hungry!
5. Do you like classical music? Nope.
6. What’s one skill that took you a while to learn? – Cooking a basic meal, and I’m still working on it. I can make desserts no problem, but making real food, forget it.
7. Which Muppet are you? – I am not too familiar with all the Muppets…so I’m just going to say I’m one of the two cranky old guys in the balcony.
8. Have the last three months gone the way you expected them to? No…was hoping for something better career-wise but that hasn’t happened yet.
9. What would you choose as your last meal on earth? – Probably a pepperoni calzone from this really good little pizza shop near my parents’ house, with my homemade chocolate chip cookies and chocolate peanut butter ice cream for dessert.
10. Weekly goals: Get to the gym 2 more times, keep up with my blog posts, not completely eff up a job interview I have Friday.
Karen says
Hi MM,
Aww, I know how that goes. Sometimes Mondays are just…blah. Hopefully yours will pick up. 🙂
Good luck on your job interview on Friday! What’s the position for?
MM Curator says
Thank you for the good Monday wishes and job vibes!! The position is nothing all that interesting but I’ll take it – I think it’ll pay a bit more than my previous job. Gotta keep the Museum staff rolling in cookies somehow! 😉
I really should fill out the Monday poll more often – they’re so much fun and your responses are always so nice. 🙂
Twyla says
1. Mood: Cheerful but tired.
2. When was the last time you got your makeup done? by someone else – My xmas party 2006 I had MAC do it.

Kim says
Happy Monday! Love the pumpkin pic; our grocery store (yes, we only have one – HAHA!) had some out this weekend, which was pretty exciting. 🙂
1. Mood: Very good but a little tired. It is Monday, after all.
2. When was the last time you got your makeup done? When I got married (2001). I know, right?
3. Would you ever consider opening your own restaurant, bar or cafe? Sure. I agree it’s tough and the hours are killer, but something small could be fun and manageable.. if I was 20 years younger, maybe!
4. What’s your idea of a great morning? Definitely sleeping in!
5. Do you like classical music? I have to be in the mood but I think it’s beautiful. Whenever someone can play the piano, I ask them to play Fur Elise.
6. What’s one skill that took you a while to learn? Ice skating (decently). You need time.. and ice!
7. Which Muppet are you? I totally laughed at your Swedish Chef; I love him (and Beeker). I’d probably be Miss Piggy. Bossy and self-centered.. and a bit plumper than I’d like right now.
8. Have the last three months gone the way you expected them to? Yeah, pretty much. It’s been much nicer, weather wise, and we got some bad news about a family member’s health but I’m not a big planner so I guess I don’t really have specific expectations.
9. What would you choose as your last meal on earth? Hmmm, I’d probably have a shellfish feast since I’m going to die anyway. The anaphylaxis isn’t the worst way to go, by far!
10. Weekly goals: You know I don’t have goals so I’ll tell you a story instead. We were at Comicon in Montreal yesterday and my boys and I were walking in an open space with no one around. I saw 2 other people walking to intersect our path and when I looked up, it was Wil Wheaton and one of his people. It was cool and, because I try not to be a spaz, I just smiled and kept walking. I’m sure he had plenty of other people to accost him. Still, thisclose to Wil Wheaton. 🙂
Karen says
You should’ve yelled, “I LOVE YOU WESLEY CRUSHER!”
Did the boys have a good time?
Rita says
1. Mood: Tired…
2. When was the last time you got your makeup done? Last July. It actually was my first makeover!

7. Which Muppet are you? I have not watched them in ages… 30 years ago?? I dunno.
8. Have the last three months gone the way you expected them to? Last month just flew by, but this month has been sooooo looooong… July was my vacation. It did not go as expected because the weather was so bad, so cold and always raining.
9. What would you choose as your last meal on earth? I would not want to be in that situation. Feels like ‘the last meal before execution’!?
10. Weekly goals: Nothing special 🙁
Karen says
Hi Rita,
Oh, super cool that you got your first makeup makeover in July! Where did you go and what look did the artist do?
Rita says
It was Tom Ford in London. The MA did a smoky look with the greenish palette & a neutral lip.
Lulle says
1. Mood: worried and sad. I’ve learnt terrible news a few days ago, my mom has breast cancer :,( She’s going to the hospital this Thursday and we’ll know more. The fact that I’m thousands of miles away makes it very difficult for me… I can’t be there to make sure she’s ok… Sorry, this is very private, but I feel the need to vent, and I don’t know very many people yet where I live.
2. When was the last time you got your makeup done? Ages ago (like a year maybe) at a MAC counter. It was a smoky eye, very pretty, but the MUA used a foundation that was at least 3 tones too dark for me!
3. Would you ever consider opening your own restaurant, bar or cafe? My husband cooks incredibly well, so if I was waitressing while he was cooking, maybe.
4. What’s your idea of a great morning? Sleeping in, then Earl Grey tea to wake up slowly, and a nice brunch.
5. Do you like classical music? Yes, although I don’t listen to it too much these days. I learnt how to play the clarinet as a kid/teenager, and I had about 6 years of serious musical education.
6. What’s one skill that took you a while to learn? Doing the upward facing dog at yoga class. Took me several months to be able to lift my knees.
7. Which Muppet are you? Miss Piggy…
8. Have the last three months gone the way you expected them to? Not exactly! Things have been more difficult that I thought, but I was making progress.
9. What would you choose as your last meal on earth? A “raclette” http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/7f/Raclette2.jpg
And for dessert, something from an amazing pâtissier in my hometown in France, Bouillet http://www.chocolatier-bouillet.com/univers/catalogues.html (you’re opening this link at your own risk of getting cravings!)
10. Weekly goals: try not to worry too much, as “worrying is like praying for what you don’t want”. Get a job eventually!!
Karen says
Lulle,
I’m so sorry to hear about your mom. Sending you extra love today.
Lulle says
Thank you. Have a great week Karen!

I love your idea of a great morning, and eek — good luck on not falling for your neighbor!

Hi Karen,
Thank you, it’s always nice to feel in the mood for love even if it hurts so much. Better go to the beach alone after all !

1. Mood:
Good. Saw some great live music on Saturday, and then yesterday spent a little time playing catch up with some friends.
2. When was the last time you got your makeup done?
About a year ago. The lady at the YSL counter at the Village’s Nordstrom taught me about the wonders of purple mascara for green eyes.
3. Would you ever consider opening your own restaurant, bar or cafe?
The stress? The hours? The uncertainty in this economy? I think I’ll stick to being a very appreciative customer.
4. What’s your idea of a great morning?
Waking up after a solid night’s sleep, having a great breakfast (veggie or seafood eggs benedict, please), and then heading out into nature, either ocean or redwoods.
5. Do you like classical music?
I always associate that type of music with Christmas (Nutcracker ballet, etc.), so during the winter I really love it.
6. What’s one skill that took you a while to learn?
The whole computer skills thing did not come naturally to me!
7. Which Muppet are you?
I tend to alternate between Oscar the Grouch and the Cookie Monster!
8. Have the last three months gone the way you expected them to?
Not at all. On the one hand I never thought the grieving process would be this intense and complicated. I still cry every day thinking about my Mom. On the other hand, I never in a million years thought I would start dating this incredible man that I’ve known for the past couple of years and that he would turn out to be so incredibly thoughtful, helpful, and accepting of all the chaos in my life.
9. What would you choose as your last meal on earth?
I wouldn’t be able to choose between my favorite cuisines, so I guess it’s going to be a dragon roll, walnut prawns, and a key lime cupcake for dessert.
10. Weekly goals:
Clean up the clutter in the kitchen and on my desk, and spend some time in nature.
Sadie says
1. Mood: Pretty low. I’ve been battling a virus for the past few weeks and it finally reached its peak this weekend by waking me up at 5am on Friday with the worst headache I think I’ve ever had and a very unhappy stomach. I spent the whole weekend & today dozing on & off, which is a lot less fun than it sounds…
2. When was the last time you got your makeup done? A couple of months ago at the Pixi store in Carnaby Street, London. I ended up spending £70 on make up so it went pretty well I guess! And they made me tea and had biscuits on offer so that didn’t hurt either 🙂
3. Would you ever consider opening your own restaurant, bar or cafe? No chance, much for the same reasons as Karen has put above (I never want to work in an industry that would give Mr Ramsey license to yell at me).
4. What’s your idea of a great morning? Waking up naturally, feeling like I’ve actually had a good nights’ sleep…and feeling well too of course.
5. Do you like classical music? I do. I grew up in a household where classical & blues were the main music genres of choice so I still have fond memories of both. I also played violin for 7 years and was part of a youth orchestra so I have some understanding of how it all works still, the way all the different parts of the orchestra have their distinct roles to make up layered and full pieces of music that tell a story.
6. What’s one skill that took you a while to learn? Basic Maths, and I still can’t do the most basic sums without a calculator sometimes!
7. Which Muppet are you? Well, I do channel the Swedish Chef every time I cook chicken (‘put de chicky in de basket…’), but then I also have my Ms Piggy diva moments – who doesn’t, right?! Hiii-ya!
8. Have the last three months gone the way you expected them to? The last three months have gone by in a blur because I’m always THAT busy at work. Some stuff has gone well and some hasn’t, but I have managed to recruit an assistant who will hopefully make the next three months a bit easier to manage (fingers crossed).
9. What would you choose as your last meal on earth? I think it would be a toss-up between the amazing steak from Hawksmoor restaurant in London, or some really good fresh seafood from any of the places I visited in St Ives, Cornwall, this summer.
10. Weekly goals: To get better and no longer feel like I’ve been beaten about the head. And to think of/create a decent ‘medieval’ themed dress for my friend’s birthday on Saturday. Easy!

1. Mood: Fantastic! The sun is shining, but it isn’t 105F. This is going to be a great week!
2. When was the last time you got your makeup done? I think it was a couple of years ago… I think it’s time to go for some fresh ideas…
3. Would you ever consider opening your own restaurant, bar or cafe? Considered opening a coffee/pastry house, but then I remember all the craziness I hear about the restaurant business from my Dad, a former chef, and my boss, a caterer — and then I think my life is much nicer without all those headaches.
4. What’s your idea of a great morning? Sleeping in with purring kitties (no 6am breakfast calls); hubby gets up early and makes me coffee and huevos rancheros…
5. Do you like classical music? Yes! I used to play in an orchestra when I was young, and I still love the music.
6. What’s one skill that took you a while to learn? Chinese. 3 years of formal classes, then 6 months of immersion in China. I was slow to catch on, but as soon as I could hear the tones in context, it made much more sense. Of course, it’s been nearly 30 years since I studied, but a good part of the spoken language is still there; the written, not so much…
7. Which Muppet are you? Cookie Monster!!!
8. Have the last three months gone the way you expected them to?
Better. It just gets better and better!
9. What would you choose as your last meal on earth? So many to choose from! There’s a little dive in Taos, NM that serves the most amazing green chile chicken enchiladas… I could die happy after a meal of that.
10. Weekly goals: Spend more time petting Miss Java; Sahara tends to hog the lap. Plan my booth for the bridal expo on Sept 30. Write a blog post on something, anything…

3. Would you ever consider opening your own restaurant, bar or cafe? I’d love to if I had the finances to do so…
4. What’s your idea of a great morning? Sleep in until like 11? 😉 Have a tea/breakfast and some reading in bed.
5. Do you like classical music? Yes.
6. What’s one skill that took you a while to learn? makeup, I am still learning with every new client.
7. Which Muppet are you? I don’t know, never really watched.
8. Have the last three months gone the way you expected them to? not really but I liked them in general.
9. What would you choose as your last meal on earth? very easy: salmon, shrimps and red caviar.
10. Weekly goals: work out five times per week, as I used to. find more time for my friends, it not all about work.
Stef Smith says
1. Mood: Endorphin high! Hit the gym this morning, exercised hard, now it’s relaxation time!
2. When was the last time you got your makeup done? Gosh, probably a couple of years. I don’t like other people doing my makeup, they tend to go darker than what I’m comfortable with. I had my brows done once and I swear to God I looked like Groucho Marx!
3. Would you ever consider opening your own restaurant, bar or cafe? There are waaaaaaay too many laws to follow. But I would love to open a bar/gastro pub. It’s a dream of mine.
4. What’s your idea of a great morning? Sleeping in until 7am, any longer and I get sore. A big breakfast, eggs, toast, hashbrowns, fruit, and two pots of coffee (I have a five cup coffee pot, so two pots isn’t all that much), no tv on, quiet and happy!
5. Do you like classical music? Yes, it’s beautiful. I’m a Mozart girl.
6. What’s one skill that took you a while to learn? How to cook! Oh I was the worst cook when I got married, 16 years ago. But I got a cookbook for a wedding present (Betty Crocker) and I started at the beginning and worked my way through. Now I am awesome in the kitchen!
7. Which Muppet are you? I wanna be Miss Piggy, she’s my idol, but I’m probably more like Gonzo, fun and a little goofy. Or Fozzie, I like dumb jokes!
8. Have the last three months gone the way you expected them to? Yeah, my life is fairly predictable, but I like that. Everything goes pretty well.
9. What would you choose as your last meal on earth? My husband’s chicken tacos, my MIL’s stuffing and gravy, my FIL’s potato salad, and my Grandma’s vegetable beef soup. Yes, a mish mash, but it’s my last meal!
10. Weekly goals: Hit the gym four or five more times, clean the bathrooms, get my bangs trimmed.

White pizza and chocolate chip cookies

1. Mood:
~Happy. It’s been a pretty good weekend. One out of my 2 teams won for football (the Pittsburgh Steelers won a game, while the Redskins of course were too good to be true…they screwed up pretty bad), got to see a Terps game with a friend/coworker who had season tickets on Saturday, and went to the Frederick Fair today. Also, today was the 150th anniversary of Antietam, so my fiance and I did a drive-through of the battlefield since the visitor’s center and Burnside’s Bridge were packed full of people – some from out of state!
2. When was the last time you got your makeup done?
~Not in a really long time, I typically do it myself. I would be curious to see how someone else did it though, so maybe I should go to Sephora or MAC makeup-free one day!
3. Would you ever consider opening your own restaurant, bar or cafe?
~If that was my field of interest, yes. However, since it is not, I am perfectly happy going to and appreciating the great cafes, restaurants and bars I like to frequent.
4. What’s your idea of a great morning?
~Similar to yours! If I really need sleep, I can easily sleep until noon. If I don’t need sleep, I am awake usually at around 8 to 9 (unless I have to work, then that is 4:30am). I like to run and work out, and if I could spend 2 to 3 hours working out I would. Then I’d like a long hot shower with the windows in the bathroom open with a cool breeze coming in, and I would probably do a pedicure and any other maintenance that can take a while after my shower. A hike on the nearby mountain or kayaking down the local rivers would also be a good substitute for running/lifting weights, and I’d get to see some beautiful scenery!
5. Do you like classical music?
~Yup, I used to play violin, and love classical and Irish music.
6. What’s one skill that took you a while to learn?
~Any brand new skill takes me a little bit to pick up – I have to do it a few times to really “get” it. The one that took me the longest was horseback riding because it takes years of training and practice to get to the point where you can be in tune with any horse, and you are constantly learning from each horse. I’ve ridden since I was 5 years old, and a bad accident forced me to go back to basics – you learn a lot from stuff like that! You also realize that you can never be too old or experienced to go back to the basics.
7. Which Muppet are you?
~Hmmmm…not sure. Something I haven’t watched in a long time!
8. Have the last three months gone the way you expected them to?
~I would say yes, in a way. I’m in the moving process (almost done!) and can’t wait to start organizing my stuff once my furniture gets over here. I’ve gotten some opportunities that proved to be great ones for networking, and I also decided to just work 1 job instead of 2. I am much happier and less stressed!
9. What would you choose as your last meal on earth?
~Oh that’s a tough one…there are so many meals I enjoy. My dad’s “Sopranos” pizza (out of the Sopranos cookbook, homemade and amazing), cupcakes, fresh squeezed Frederick Fair Orangeade, funnel cake…the list goes on of all of my fave foods.
10. Weekly goals
~Fill out the change of address form on the MVA website.
~Get some good workouts in, since I have time this week and it’s not a crazy work week I could go for the 2 to 3 hour workouts.
~Clean the house, make it presentable in case we have neighbors over for football Sunday next Sunday.
~Start doing some shopping for the upcoming October cruise.

1. Mood:
Wiped out! I was driving my brother to school, and the heavens literally opened up! I couldn’t see the road, and it was my first time ever. I was scared absolutely sh**less. Then, I had to deal with puddles and I’ve never dealt with those either!
2. When was the last time you got your makeup done?
Last year, and I was allergic to the makeup! Bare Minerals/Escentuals and I don’t mix!
3. Would you ever consider opening your own restaurant, bar or cafe?
No. Too much stress!
4. What’s your idea of a great morning?
Sleeping in past morning! I’m not a morning person!
5. Do you like classical music?
Yes.
6. What’s one skill that took you a while to learn?
Everything takes me a while! I may be a fast study in certain things, but it still takes me a while for it to cement, so I’m constantly asking if it’s right!
7. Which Muppet are you?
I think I’d be a mix. However, according to Blogthings, I’m most like Scooter. I think I’m a Scooter/Miss Piggy. I’m a bit high maintenance, but I’m intelligent.
8. Have the last three months gone the way you expected them to?
No. A bit worse in some ways, better in others.
9. What would you choose as your last meal on earth?
Lawry’s lemon pepper marinaded chicken tenderloins with noodles and corn and a croissant.
10. Weekly goals:
Bathe Zena!

1. Mood: Tired. School’s really kicking in.
2. When was the last time you got your makeup done?: Never.
3. Would you ever consider opening your own restaurant, bar or cafe?: I’ve thought about it, but there’s too much stress and risk involved in it, especially in this economy. Besides, half of all restaurants fail.
4. What’s your idea of a great morning?: Sleeping in and not having to go anywhere.
5. Do you like classical music?: Yes! I played the cello for 5 years, my older sister played the violin for 7 years and bass for 4 years, and my younger sister played the viola for 4 years and has now played bass for almost 2 years. It’s always been a presence in my life. With classical, it’s just a matter of finding the fun stuff as opposed to the boring stuff. (For instance, Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4, Movement 4 Finale is terrific. Though Tchaikovsky’s a pain to play — he just LOVES accidentals. Ugh. Meanwhile, I am ready to kill someone if I hear “Canon in D”. All the cellos and basses get to do in that piece is play whole notes the ENTIRE TIME.)
6. What’s one skill that took you a while to learn?: Driving, especially turns.
7. Which Muppet are you?: I can act like Sam sometimes (ew), but I’d like to think that I’m Robin. He’s adorable.
8. Have the last three months gone the way you expected them to?: Yup. Now I just need to see how the next three months are going to go…
9. What would you choose as your last meal on earth?: Something extravagant.
10. Weekly goals: Work on time management skills with homework (a.k.a. Get it done right away!), and find time to relax.

Mood:
OK. Some family drama goin’ down, but we’ll get through it.
When was the last time you got your makeup done?
Probably on one of my last days off. I love going to a MAC store on a day off and just messing with stuff. And if someone happens to want to give me a makeover, well, who am I to turn them down?
Would you ever consider opening your own restaurant, bar or cafe?
I’d finance one, but I don’t think I have it in me to do the day to day activities.
What’s your idea of a great morning?
Getting up without an alarm, getting to go for a nice run, eating a nice breakfast, and doing nothing…
Do you like classical music?
Love it, grew up playing violin and piano (I liked violin more) so I’ll always have some Vivaldi and Chopin and Lizst kicking around somewhere on my iPod.
What’s one skill that took you a while to learn?
Cookiing – and I’m still not nearly as good as I’d like to be. I’m a better baker.
Which Muppet are you?
Rowlf, just because I love dogs and he seems chill and gets along with everyone. And he’s musical.
Have the last three months gone the way you expected them to?
Not really. I always have that same feeling, Karen – the “I should be farther along than I really am at the moment” – so it’s very hard for me to accept how things are. But, I have a good lot of people surrounding me in terms of friends and family so I feel good.
What would you choose as your last meal on earth?
Um, where do I start? 🙂 From my mom, her egg rolls and pancit and leche flan. From my bf’s mom, her salmon, green beans, and carrot cake. From my favorite restaurants, bacon cheddar potato pancakes and a cinnamon roll from Ann Sather, pancakes from Walker Bros, deep dish/extra cheese/buttercrust/pepperoni/green cheese pizza from Lou Malnati’s, carbonara risotto and truffle egg toast with asparagus from Davanti Enoteca, a big ol’ steak from Gibson’s with mashed potatoes, chicken enchiladas with mole sauce from Wholly Frijoles, beef brisket from Smoque, and if I could go back in time to when my bf used to work at my favorite college sandwich place, the sandwich named after him that has chicken, bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and remoulade sauce on flatbread.
No, food’s not that important to me…
Weekly goals:
Keep up with my financial goals (money’s getting me down lately), keep up with the positive thoughts for my fam and my bf and his fam, and finish my Great Clothing Re-Assessment, where I go through my entire closet and drawers and decide what I need to give away, fix, or toss. Le sigh.

3. Would you ever consider opening your own restaurant, bar or cafe?
Probably not. Math is so not my thing.

I do! Very much! But it’s not my favourite kind of music.
