- You might be wondering, “So what the heck is this Monday Poll thing anyway?”
Well, it isn’t much of a poll. It’s more just a constantly evolving (devolving?), somewhat random list of questions I’ve been putting out to readers every Monday morning for the past four years. I’ve always enjoyed reading your answers in the comments, and I hope you enjoy reading mine.
- Mood:
Super chill. I had a nice, relaxing weekend, ahhh… - Who makes your favorite hand cream?
In my book, Caudalie. Their Hand and Nail Cream is hands down (haha) the best.I must wash my hands 10 times a day and always try to follow up with hand cream. Caudalie’s is lightweight, absorbs quickly, and I swear I can hear my hands sighing with relief when I use it.
FYI, if you keep multiple tubes of hand cream in different parts of the house, in your purse, your car, on your desk, and on top of your nightstand, you’re officially obsessed!
- What are your favorite slang words/phrases?
That’s a hella good question, yo. “Hella” is definitely one of mine. I’m also fond of, “That’s hella bad,” with “bad” meaning “good.”I guess you can take the girl out of the East Bay…but you can’t take the East Bay out of the girl. 🙂
- Are you able to do detailed desk work while listening to music?
Depends on the work and the music. I love to think that I can, but truth be told, I have to pause the funky beats when I’m doing anything beyond filing, labeling, and taking pictures or notes. Most of the time I read and write in silence. - What’s guaranteed to make you roll your eyes?
Individuals who refer to themselves as “we.” Dude, I know it’s just you. You’re not a “we” unless you have a secret android robot/identical twin I don’t know about. - What’s a makeup or beauty product that reminds you of someone?
Christian Dior Poison perfume makes me think of my mom; she’s worn it as long as I can remember. And Revlon Orange Flip Lipstick reminds me of my glamorous granny. - Where do you go for good ice cream?
San Francisco’s The Ice Cream Bar. Been there three weekends in a row, thanks to this stretch of warm weather in the city (SF can be foggy and chilly this time of year). I’ve never had a better homemade waffle cone, and they make a mean basil ice cream! - Would you rather see or be seen?
Well, am I wearing stretchy pants? Because if I am, yeah, I think I’d rather just see. But if my hair is behaving and I look pretty well put together (and I’m not covered in 5 pounds of cat hair), I don’t mind being seen. - Time to style your raggedy mop. Where do you go?
I got to see Alis over at A Line Salon in Corte Madera. She has a gift for styling wavy and curly hair, and she’s creative with color. I can also always count on her to talk me out of making rash hair decisions (which has happened many times). Love ya, Alis! - Weekly goals:
Right now, the only thing I’m thinking about is hitting the neighborhood pool at least once this week. My to-do list is scary long, but those are just things that have to get done. Making it to the pool is something I want to do.
Happy Monday and good morning, friend. 🙂 I hope your neurons are fired up this morning! Do you have minute for the Monday Poll?

Sometimes. At work, it helps keep out other noises so I can get stuff done.

Nothing specific. I just want to do my best to keep the house tidy so it doesn’t pile up at the end of the week.
Happy Monday!
Karen says
Hi Ruchita,
I’m guilty of over-using cool, too, especially in professional settings, whoops!
BTW, I feel your pain when it comes to keeping the house tidy. Seems like if I let up for a second then the dust/dirt/fur threatens to take over. Tabs is definitely winning the war on cat hair! 🙂 What is your least favorite chore? Cleaning the bathroom is mine, bluh.
Ruchita says
I hear ya on the cat hair. With three furballs, I’ve got lint brushes stashed around the house! And blankets covering the couches and bed. 🙂
My least favorite chore is laundry b/c it’s a muli-step task that seems to take all day. At least I get some exercise from walking up and down the stairs with the basket. 🙂
Nina says
1. Mood: Pretty happy! Had a great, lazy weekend!

2. Who makes your favorite hand cream? If my hands get dry, I like Neutrogena Norweigan formula hand cream. It’s super thick, but it gets the job done.
3. What are your favorite slang words/phrases? I am trying to bring back “bitchin”, and I say it waaaaaay too much!
4. Are you able to do detailed desk work while listening to music? Nope, I’d rather boogie down with my bad self while listing to music!
5. What’s guaranteed to make you roll your eyes? People on Facebook (yes, it’s my guilty pleasure and I loooooove it!) that post a status update that says something like, “frustrated!” or “I need a hug.” It’s a ploy for attention, tell me what the problem is and I’ll help fix it, but don’t just post a word for attention. Drives me up the wall!
6. What’s a makeup or beauty product that reminds you of someone? Red Wet N Wild lipstick reminds me of one Grandma, Passion perfume reminds me of my other Grandma, and those little pressed powder compacts from Revlon reminds me of my Mom back when I was growing up.

YA! Finally made it on here for a Monday poll!
1. Mood: anxious, apprehensive, sad. My in-laws are coming into town and frankly nothing good every comes from this
2. Who makes your favorite hand cream?
Not sure yet. I’ve using the Caudalie one you mentioned (night stand hand cream) and it’s pretty good- non greasy which is important. I also have the bliss one in my purse. Although I feel like I need to use the goldbond one for nurses because I too wash my hands constantly and recently feel like my hands age me past my actual age!!
3. What are your favorite slang words/phrases?
“Leggo” – got my whole fam on it now 🙂
4. Are you able to do detailed desk work while listening to music?
Negative, detailed work requires quiet for me
5. What’s guaranteed to make you roll your eyes?
Obvious lairs, ppl who show off
6. What’s a makeup or beauty product that reminds you of someone?

7. Where do you go for good ice cream?
Cold Stone or I make it at home
8. Would you rather see or be seen?
See, I sort of hate to be seen (middle child syndrome)
9. Time to style your raggedy mop. Where do you go?
Ugh. I cannot find a stylist who will give me what I want. My current stylist cuts my hair into nice layers and it always grows out nicely, but she’s so SAFE. When I ask for anything out of the norm I still get the norm. She won’t give me dramatic layers but she’s also the one who won’t mess up my hair.
10. Weekly goals:
Get through the week, keep calm and sane. Look forward to giving my dad his fathers day gift this upcoming weekend (Ipad!!!)
Nikki says
1. Mood: Pretty good for a Monday. I’m alive so that helps
2. Who makes your favorite hand cream? Jergens but I will use whatever BBW lotion I happen to have in my purse/car/desk draw/dresser
3. What are your favorite slang words/phrases? I know I say anyhoo a lot. Coolio is another one that comes to mind.
4. Are you able to do detailed desk work while listening to music? Depends on the music. If it’s mellow (like Alicia Keys) then sure I can do work. But if its something more upbeat anything goes! Lol probably not since I’ll stop to sing along or bob my head.
5. What’s guaranteed to make you roll your eyes? Bad grammar! Especially from high school grads/college grads. One would figure by that time in their lives they would know the difference between their/there/they’re and you’re/your etc. Interviews with athletes and I can’t understand a word they say also irk me.
6. What’s a makeup or beauty product that reminds you of someone? Anything Oil of Olay reminds me of the women in my family since it’s all they use and they don’t look their age AT ALL.
7. Where do you go for good ice cream? Coldstone.
8. Would you rather see or be seen? Depends on the situation. If I’m just meeting a group of people, I’d rather see at first to see the dynamics of the group. But if I’m around good friends/family, I’d rather BE SEEN!!!
9. Time to style your raggedy mop. Where do you go? My mom. If she can’t do it, I sit down and figure it out myself. I haven’t been to a hair salon since I chopped off all my hair back in 2008.
10. Weekly goals: Do yoga at least 4 times this week, walk at least 5 times this week for 30 minutes and eat healthier.
Have a great week Karen and fellow Beauties!!!
