- You might be wondering, “So what the heck is this Monday Poll thing anyway?”
Well, it isn’t much of a poll. It’s more just a constantly evolving (devolving?), somewhat random list of questions I’ve been putting out to readers every Monday morning for the past four years. I’ve always enjoyed reading your answers in the comments, and I hope you enjoy reading mine.
- Mood:
In a word, great! I actually feel well-rested this morning, like a whole new person. This past weekend I was really able to spend some time “filling my well” and recharging my batteries, by hanging out with friends, seeing a movie and catching up on some reading. It also helps TREMENDOUSLY that that I’ve been sleeping a little better than usual over the past few days. I got in 10 glorious hours Saturday night, and hark! — the herald angels were singing!
- Have you ever attended a music festival?
Small ones, yes, but not none of the really big or famous ones. Some of the local radio stations organize small ones in Golden Gate Park, and I’ve been to a few of those.I love music, but I’m not a big concert goer. I’m just not into huge crowds…or Porta-Potties.
I do enjoy watching concerts on my TV from the comfort of my living room couch, though. 🙂 I can sit down, take bathroom breaks whenever I need to, and can even pause the show to take Tabs out for a walk, LOL!
- What’s a fantastically great hair day like for you?
Ah, an elusive creature… On my best hair days, my side-swept bangs lay perfectly flat. Sometimes they like to puff out in odd places, so there’s none of that. And my shoulder-length waves can best be described as “beachy.” Voluminous, but not messy. - Describe a perfect date for you:
I’m easy. I love taking day trips up to Napa with El Hub, so a perfect date would involve us driving up early on a Sunday morning. We’d get in a little sightseeing, have lunch and then stop by a winery or two for tastings.Later, on the way home, we’d pick up some fresh fruit from one of the local stands, add a loaf of French bread and a block of cheese, and then watch Mad Men and Game of Thrones before going to bed early, LOL!
Yup, this is what happens when you’ve been together for 10 years…
- When were you first allowed to wear perfume?
High school. I never really had any interest in it before that, but by the time freshman year rolled around, I was all about Cover Girl Navy and and Debbie Gibson’s Electric Youth.A bunch of my friends were also into Liz Claiborne…but it always gave me a headache.
- What are some of your favorite summer snacks?
OOH! Fresh fruit — watermelon, strawberries, cherries, peaches, plums, apricots… I love fruit. - An activity you’d like to try?
Even though the thought of having sweaty strangers up in my grill freaks me out, I still think I’d like to try taking a martial arts class with El Hub.We keep meaning to visit the Brazilian jiujitsu studio up here, but our work schedules just haven’t been aligning with the stars.
- What’s one thing every woman should have?
I think every woman should have a place they can call their own, be it a bench on the patio, a home office, or even just a small corner in the living room or a bedroom. Just a little space that’s all yours, just for you.The idea of a physical space as a sanctuary is very important for me.
- If you have any pets, what can you tell me about them?
I have one chubby, 18-pound black/brown tabby cat named Tabs with perfectly ordinary tabby features (meaning, he’s gorgeous), and he’s been not-so-quietly dominating my life since 2007.El Hub and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
- Weekly goals:
To be kind to myself, to step away from the computer every night by 7 p.m. (or so), and to enjoy my birthday on the 9th.
Hello, friend. I hope you’re having a lovely Monday so far. Do you have a minute to touch base with this week’s Monday Poll?

Just wanted to say hi and let you know that I watched another movie yesterday — Snow White and the Huntsman. It was pretty good!
Marina says
Hey, Karen!
I am not sure that I want to see it but I am going to the cinema today to see something else, not yet 100% sure what.. And have you seen the last GOT episode, it was just WOW! 🙂
Melissa says
1. Mood: pretty good!
2. Have you ever attended a music festival?: Never. I’m not into that whole scene. Though I do love small shows like at the Bowery Ballroom, Knitting Factory, or Le Poisson Rouge in NYC.
3. What’s a fantastically great hair day like for you?: Anything really, just without frizz.
4. Describe a perfect date for you: anything not the typical “dinner and movie”
5. When were you first allowed to wear perfume?: Late elementary school we used to have these scented body sprays that smelled like lemon that came from the drug store. “Real” perfume wasn’t until high school.
6. What are some of your favorite summer snacks?: Anything cool. Fresh veggies and hummus, or chopped banana frozen and blended into “ice cream”
7. An activity you’d like to try?: Hiking on more difficult trails
8. What’s one thing every woman should have?: A lipstick that can make her look made up without a stitch of any other makeup on.
9. What can you tell me about your pets (if you have any)?: Well as I’m writing this my fat Russian Blue is napping in my hamper… don’t know why but it’s his new spot. I also just got a corgi puppy and she’s napping in her crate in the kitchen. They don’t really get along yet unfortunately.
10. Weekly goals: Finish cleaning the garage to make room for my new bicycle.
Have a great week everyone!
Karen says
Hi Melissa,
Tabs is obsessed with laundry — both clean and dirty, eww! He loves to post up in my hamper, and if I can’t find him, chances are he’s in there taking a nap.
What made you decide to get a puppy? I’d love to have a dog (I grew up with them), but Tabs will not allow it, LOL!
Melissa says
That’s so strange Tabs likes laundry too! I thought it was my guy being crazy. And it was just a good time for a puppy! I’ve got some free time between semesters and have always wanted a puppy, and there was one available from a breeder I talked to. It all just worked out!
Nina says
1. Mood: Stressed a bit, but not bad.
2. Have you ever attended a music festival? We went to the Houston Free Press Fest last year. This year we gave it a pass.
3. What’s a fantastically great hair day like for you? No frizzies, please!
4. Describe a perfect date for you: Something easy – no fuss, no frill. Great food + great company always works.
5. When were you first allowed to wear perfume? I remember always being slathered in Johnsons Baby Cologne growing up (stuff hurts when you have prickly heat!!!) … and I think when I entered high school, they let me have my own bottle of cologne – usually from Spain.
6. What are some of your favorite summer snacks? Watermelon and cantaloupe, snow cones and all sorts of fruit sorbet!
7. An activity you’d like to try? Id like to volunteer.
8. What’s one thing every woman should have? I agree w/ you – a place of their own to just chill and be alone with their thoughts. I have a room where all my makeup and clothes are – its got a TV and a comfy saucer chair and I go there when I need quiet time.
9. What can you tell me about your pets (if you have any)? We have one dog, who isnt the smartest in the world but is possibly the sweetest (Mojo); we have a senior cat who is a bit angsty but really, really feisty (Anja), we also have your typical teenager cats – moody, rambunctious, but oh-so-affectionate (Linus and LOL); lastly we have 2 outdoor cats (really skittish, wont let us touch them just yet) that come to the backyard to eat (Mr. Bean and Bandit).
Side note – we actually think Mr. Bean and Bandit are father/son because they look so much alike.
10. Weekly goals: to not let grumpy people affect me. 😉
Karen says
Hi Nina,
Oh, more porch kitties! I’m very excited about the two new outdoor additions. When did they start coming around?
Nina says
Mr. Bean came around the time Stray Gray came (havent seen him in years, I hope his humans finally made him 100% indoor) … which is around the time we moved in (2010 November) ….
Bandit showed up 2 wks or so ago, on a rainy night. He stayed huddled up on the covered part of the back porch all night, even after he polished off his food! 🙂
I think the stray cat colony has us down as easy marks!
Katherine G says
1. Mood:
~Sick. Think I got that tummy bug everyone else has, and it sucks because there are things I need to get done today.
2. Have you ever attended a music festival?
~I’ve also attended small ones but I am not a fan of large crowds. There are bands/artists I would love to see but will probably never get to a concert because I hate crowds that much. I feel like I can’t relax in large crowds and people that are rude can make the concert experience not very enjoyable.
3. What’s a fantastically great hair day like for you?
~When my hair isn’t too slippery to braid (I have fine, but thick hair and lots of it), and lays the way I want it to. This is typically on the second day after washing it. I also love it when my hair straightens well and doesn’t get staticky or tangly.
4. Describe a perfect date for you:
~I love anything outdoors. Me and the fiance worked out and rode the motorcycle all weekend.
Kayaking, riding motorcycles/horses, eating Maryland Blue Crabs…those are all great dates for me!
5. When were you first allowed to wear perfume?
~I think in middle school, my parents weren’t terribly picky on makeup/perfume issue. They figured I’d want to experiment with all that at some point.
6. What are some of your favorite summer snacks?
~I love chips and dip any time, watermelon, oranges, trail mix (for hiking), and ice cream, especially sherbet.
7. An activity you’d like to try?
~I’d like to also get into martial arts, and maybe try hang gliding.
8. What’s one thing every woman should have?
~I agree with a spot to call your own. I think it’s important to have time to yourself to read, pamper yourself, or just have a lazy day. It helps you regroup and recharge for the work week or days you are busy doing other things.
9. What can you tell me about your pets (if you have any)?
~No pets right now. I eventually want a dog though and my own horses.
10. Weekly goals:
~Run since it’s going to be nice outside.
~Stay positive.
Karen says
Hi Katherine G!
Oh no, I hope your tummy feels better soon. Take care of yourself and have a great week! I hope you get to run a few times outside…
Katherine G says
Thanks Karen! I’m already feeling a little better. I still did push-ups and squats today, just because I made a pact with myself that even if I don’t feel good I will do something. Hope you have a great week!

10. Weekly goals: signing petitions on the petitionsite, buying the Essie metallics, I have only 2 so I’ll try and get the others, maybe discovering the new 100 % electric ” car ” named Twizy ! It’s the first French electric ” car ” ( it’s an electric tiny quad in fact, costing around 8000 / 9000 € + the battery you have to pay 50 € per month ).
Thanks Karen !!
Karen says
Hi Dominique,
I think about Tabs getting older all the time. 🙁 I have a feeling he’s going to get needier as he ages.
BTW, I’d also love to take a makeup lesson at the MUFE boutique in Paris! What a dream.
You have a lovely week, and keep me posted if you find any exciting Essie Metallics that I should know about. 🙂
Leah says
1. Mood: Pretty great! Hubby and I had an awesome weekend that was both productive and relaxing. Something must have been in the water because I got a ton of sleep, too.
2. Have you ever attended a music festival? I’m not big on concerts. I like them when I’m there but I hate when you get out and have to sit in your car for 3 hours just to get out of the parking lot. I’m in Colorado so every now and then we go to a great concert at Red Rocks and will splurge on a town car for the night so they take us right up to the front door. Totally worth the money.
3. What’s a fantastically great hair day like for you? When my “bangs/swoopies” don’t lay flat like I just took off a hat. It’s an ongoing battle to get a little volume into my hair.
4. Describe a perfect date for you: Hubby and I take the puppies on a walk up to our favorite wine bar that allows dogs on the patio. He gets a beer, I get a cold glass of rose and we sit and listen to the live music.
5. When were you first allowed to wear perfume? I think I stole a few old bottles of my mom’s Estee Lauder when I was really young but I don’t remember wearing it much until Junior High when Love’s Baby Soft and CK One were my top choices.
6. What are some of your favorite summer snacks? It’s not really a snack but I’m a sucker for grilled corn on the cob. We will make it as an appetizer and eat it while the rest of our food cooks. I also love watermelon.
7. An activity you’d like to try? I’d really like to learn how to fence. It’s so classy!
8. What’s one thing every woman should have? A best friend!
9. What can you tell me about your pets (if you have any)? We have two toy poodles, Remy and Mojo. Remy is a 4yr old silver male and Mojo is a 3yr old black male. They are the best dogs ever. No shedding, really smart and only about 10 lbs. They love to chase squirrels and tennis balls.
10. Weekly goals: Finally get my blog going. I’ve been waffling for months on what and how to do it and this last week I just really jumped in and started writing. I’m also editing a novel my brother-in-law wrote and my goal is to finish it this week so he can go get it published!
Karen says
Hi Leah,
Welcome to the world of beauty blogging! It’s so fun and you’ll learn so much. 🙂
Tania says
Karen,
Watched an awards show last night and C-bale cryed thinking about Heath Ledger!!
The List
1. Mood: ok. I really want to hide in bed and watch movies. However I can’t I have to get packing for a work conference, plus I have to make some phone calls.
2. Have you ever attended a music festival? Yes I went to Rock Fest one year with Papa Roach, Stone Temple Pilots, and Godsmack. Everyone around us was on the mary j so I along with my peeps got contact high. We had pancakes afterward. Music was awesome! “Sour Girl” from Stone Temple Pilots is phenominal acoustic!!
3. What’s a fantastically great hair day like for you? Perfect volume, defined curls, no frizz, no flaky or oily scalp. Thank god I had this on Saturday at a wedding!!
4. Describe a perfect date for you: a movie, concert, museum or something like that. Followed by a long walk and some ice cream or a tropical snow in the summer. Coffee or tea if not.
5. When were you first allowed to wear perfume? I could try some on every now and then but I didn’t get perfume until 10 and then it was like body spray. My mom wore Obsession for Women that doesn’t spray. My nephew is like 8 and wants to wear Old Spice. I’m freaking out!!
6. What are some of your favorite summer snacks? Fruit from the farmers market esp peaches and pears. Also love tropical snow, chips and salsa, and stuff like that. This year I’m into homemade pudding made with almond milk.
7. An activity you’d like to try? Travel without planning so much. I’m so nutty!!!
8. What’s one thing every woman should have? People who you can call on. An actual thing? A full length mirror. Seriously it helps. Use it!
9. What can you tell me about your pets (if you have any)? No pets but there are birds around and I shoo them away like an old laduy!
10. Weekly goals: Have to pack for my work conference, get my place organized so it’s clean when I get back, get my disposal fixed. While at work conference: buy Krispy Kreme doughnuts for my bro and introduce my dad to Sephora. He’s not gay just well groomed.
Kim says
1. Mood: It’s Monday, so I’m tired. 🙂 I’m so happy for you that you had a good, restful weekend!!
2. Have you ever attended a music festival? No, I’m not a concert fan either. I’m one of those weird people who gets cranky when the song is not EXACTLY as I know it. It takes me a long time to accept new versions of my faves, even if it’s just a live version. I’m with you on the crowds and porta-potties, too.
3. What’s a fantastically great hair day like for you? When my bangs just fall perfectly without having to brush or fuss with them. It’s very rare and usually only after my hair has been colored and still has some “color volume”.
4. Describe a perfect date for you: I loved your date! I’m super happy with dinner and a movie. It’s always been one of my favorites. If we actually ever had a whole day to ourselves, I think I’d opt for an amusement park or ziplining or something fun like that.
5. When were you first allowed to wear perfume? I believe I had the ubiquitous Love’s Baby Soft in 5th or 6th grade or so. We all really hit it hard in high school because so many friends worked at the Duty Free and used to get the free sample bottles.
6. What are some of your favorite summer snacks? I think I’d have to say garden tomato sandwiches, though they’re not necessarily a snack. Other than that, I can’t think of any seasonal snack faves.
7. An activity you’d like to try? Skydiving or that extreme park ride where you free fall onto a big net. From a more mundane standpoint, I’d like to take a spinning class – I hear it’s a good workout.
8. What’s one thing every woman should have? Disposable income? Kidding. I’m going to gag you out and say the feeling of being loved. Whether it’s romantic or friendship or family. Every woman should feel loved by at least one person.
9. What can you tell me about your pets (if you have any)? Three gray kitties. The oldest is Emma, she’s about 13 years old and has calico in her (so she’s a bit, um, crazy); the middle is Harriet, she’s charcoal gray with extra toes – we rescued her from the woods near where my mother works so she’s timid – she’s about 5 years old; and our youngest is Sophie, she’s the best cat ever (sorry, Tabs) – she’s beautiful, has a perfect temperament and is all around fabulous – she’s about 2.
10. Weekly goals: Keep a positive attitude. 🙂
Karen says
Hi Kim,
You would love spinning. It’s so fun and you leave class dripping in sweat! I’ll probably end up becoming a hard-core spinner after my life as a runner is over (sigh, I know I can’t do it forever…).
What do you put in your garden tomato sandwiches? I like a little bit of either mayo or olive oil with some salt and pepper.
Kim says
I hear you on the running. I had already decided that I couldn’t run 5 miles per day for the rest of my life, so some changes are in order!
I always have warm, toasted bread (I prefer whole grain for this) and, since I’m a mayo gal, I have a dollop with salt and pepper. I love Caprese salad in the summer, too. That’s where I’ll have a little olive oil drizzle and some garden basil. And, of course, the buffalo mozzarella. 🙂
Katie says
1. Mood: Kind of blah because of the weather. Can you believe it’s raining in the Bay, today, Karen? It’s June, for crying out loud.
2. Have you ever attended a music festival? I attended my first festival, Outside Lands, in SF last year. My best friend and I saw my favorite band live for the first time! I could’ve cared less about looking gross and sweaty because it was too much fun. I hope to go again this year.
3. What’s a fantastically great hair day like for you? I have long, straight, thick hair. On a good hair day, my hair is voluminous and un-frizzy with a heightened crown, and my bangs perfectly frame my eyes because they are just shy of a distance from my eyes (instead of stuck to the sides of my face where they can’t be seen).
4. Describe a perfect date for you: Shh, I haven’t been a real date, yet…
5. When were you first allowed to wear perfume? My parents never “restricted” me from wearing perfume, but I never really got into wearing it when I was growing up anyway. I have specific scents I love now, but I still don’t own any bottles of my own.
6. What are some of your favorite summer snacks? Agreed on fresh fruit! But that’s yummy all year round, am I right?
7. An activity you’d like to try? I kinda want to try skateboarding. Nothing fancy, but just being able to skate…on a board. I attempted to stand and move on my friend’s new skateboard sometime ago, and the lack of balance threw me off – literally.
8. What’s one thing every woman should have? A sense of resilience and a good friend to confide in.
9. What can you tell me about your pets (if you have any)? Don’t own any!
10. Weekly goals: After I stopped exercising altogether a few months ago, I started running again last week. I ran three miles everyday for four days. I feel proud of myself, and I’m going to try to up the distance this week to six miles daily! I’m also going to finish the other half of my internship application.
Have a great week, everyone!
Karen says
Good job running this week, Katie! 🙂 That’s so awesome.
And speaking of the weather, man it’s yucky up in the North Bay right now. Is it still raining out your way?
Ruchita says
1. Mood:
Pretty good. The day is going fast, which is nice on Monday.
2. Have you ever attended a music festival?
Nope, I’ve been to concerts but never a full-fledged festival.
3. What’s a fantastically great hair day like for you?
Smooth, straight hair with just the right amount of volume at the roots. Side swept bangs staying in place.
4. Describe a perfect date for you:
Probably something low key. Dinner at a nice restaurant and seeing a movie.
5. When were you first allowed to wear perfume?
Oh gosh, I don’t remember. I think I started wearing it on my own in middle or high school.
6. What are some of your favorite summer snacks?
Fresh fruit – We always have fresh watermelon in the fridge and the local farmer’s market just got fresh strawberries.
7. An activity you’d like to try?
I would love try surfing or using those paddle-board things I’ve see in Hawaii.
8. What’s one thing every woman should have?
A journal. Even if you don’t have someone to talk to in real life, it’s nice to put your thoughts down on paper.
9. What can you tell me about your pets (if you have any)?
I have never had pets until Mingus literally walked into our lives (garage) a couple of years ago. Now I can’t imagine my life without them. Of course, I had to include pix of each of them. 🙂
Mingus
(aka Mingy): A handsome tabby cat with green eyes fierce stripes. He loves going outside and chasing birds. When he’s relaxed he’ll let me rub his belly.
Ella: A Rubenesque kitty with some stripes, white fur and a low hanging belly that we call her “flub”. She loves to cuddle with her assistants, but doesn’t always like other cats. She loves shoes of all kind.
Nina: The newest addition to our family. We found her outside my sister-in-law’s house in Cinco de Mayo. She was so cute and tiny that we took her home that night. She’s only 6-8 months old and around 5 lbs. Half the size of her siblings. She LOVES to play and has the sweetest purr.
10. Weekly goals:
Get caught up on house work, pay the bills, etc. Also bake cupcakes! I’m making some for my cousin’s graduation party this weekend. Have great day!
P.S. Tabs might enjoy the Squirmle. It’s a kids toy, but kitties go NUTS over it. You may want to buy multiples in case one gets destroyed. 🙂
Karen says
Hi Ruchita,
I can’t get over how much Tabs and Mingus resemble each other. I love that tummy shot.
If Ella’s looking for an agency, she’d be a purr-fect candidate for Tabs’ Plus Size Kitty Modeling Division. 😉
And how cute is Nina! I love that look of surprise in her pic!
I just googled the Squirmle and awwww man. It kinds reminds me of worms, blah! Tabs would definitely love it, so I may have to get over my fear so he can have fun.
Ruchita says
Thanks for letting me indulge and gush about my kitties. 🙂
The Squirmle is kinda worm-like, but they make it look cute with bright colors and googly eyes. And it’s on a long string so you don’t have to get too close. Maybe El Hub could give it a try with Tabs? If you do try it, hope you and Tabs have fun with it!
Karen says
You know I love hearing about your fur family! You can gush about them any time you want.
I swear Mingus and Tabs are twins…
Anywho, I found the Squirmle on Amazon so I might have to order it. Tabs is so fickle abou this toys, so it’ll be nice for him to have some variety. 🙂 Thanks for the recco!
Ruchita says
You’re welcome! I agree – Tabs and Mingus do look a lot alike. It Tabs ever needs a stand-in or stunt double, I’ve got the kitty for the job! 🙂
Lorraine ER says
Thanks for including the kitty pics, I like seeing people’s pets!
Ruchita says
You’re welcome. So glad you liked them. 🙂
Shannon says
1. Mood:
Kind of mellow. I went on a short hike with my hubby over lunch, and I’m tired but happy.
2. Have you ever attended a music festival?
Yep! Back in the day. Nothing longer than a single-day show, though. I’d love to go to a “real” one someday!
3. What’s a fantastically great hair day like for you?
hmmm… voluminous, bouncy curls all day long. No flattening out, no greasiness. And my hair would never get stuck in my lipgloss 🙂
4. Describe a perfect date for you:
dressing up and eating off-the-charts good food. That’s always a winner for me.
5. When were you first allowed to wear perfume?
oh man… Jr High, maybe? My dad was/is highly sensitive to perfumes, so we didn’t wear them much until we were in school (I was homeschooled until I started my Junior year of High School).
6. What are some of your favorite summer snacks?
s’mores, fruit-filled desserts (COBBLER being one of them… nom nom nom), watermelons… man. Just give me ALL of it.
7. An activity you’d like to try?
Rock. Climbing. Like a mofo. I’ve been talking about this for over a year. I need to just go for it!
8. What’s one thing every woman should have?
Confidence in herself. I really like the person I am (I mean, for the most part – I know I’m not perfect, but I don’t expect myself to be) and it really gets to me when my girlfriends constantly talk about their perceived imperfections. I just want to SHAKE them into loving themselves! Although that would probably be… not too effective. I also want to add another thing, though, that every woman should have: a good, honest, loving friend. (At least one.)
9. What can you tell me about your pets (if you have any)?
My parents’ dog, whom I still claim, is a monster-sized miniature schnauzer. She’s kind of crazy, is missing a toe (had to have it removed due to some funky situation), and is super smart. She’s a grayish kind of color, usually has a wonky haircut because my parents aren’t great on the grooming front, and her head is the perfect height for her to come rest it on your knees when your sitting down. Love. her.
10. Weekly goals:
To get some music stuff done (transcription of 1-2 songs), to keep my kitchen relatively clean, to hike the M again at some point, and to start eating veggies with more regularity. I think I’ve fluffed up in the last week or two, and I’m pretty sure it’s because I’ve been eating fairly carb-heavy.

Ines, Cha Cha, LeRoux & Emily says
1. Mood:
Okay. Bit of a scuffle in the family.
2. Have you ever attended a music festival?
No. I hate crowds… Although, people do seem to flock incessantly to Montreal’s summer music festivals.
3. What’s a fantastically great hair day like for you?
I can wear my hair down without a ton of humidity-induced flyaways/fuzzy hair (my hair is naturally fine and kind of fluffy).
4. Describe a perfect date for you:
Dinner with good food, maybe a little Argentine Tango. Hasn’t happened yet because none of the guys I’ve dated, including my current boyfriend, have been able to dance the Tango.
5. When were you first allowed to wear perfume?
15 or 16 – I think my mom gave me a bottle of YSL something or the other (it was the pink bottle that looks like a spinning top) – it was suuuuuper fruity and sweet though, which is not really my thing at all! After that, I think I went to BBW and bought a bottle of Cucumber Melon body splash.
6. What are some of your favorite summer snacks?
Watermelon, White peaches, nectarines, apricots, ice cream.
7. An activity you’d like to try?
Surfing. I’ve never tried it, but it looks so cool!
8. What’s one thing every woman should have?
A great pair of heels that makes you feel like a supermodel. And red lipstick.
9. What can you tell me about your pets (if you have any)?
Cha Cha: Black shorthaired kitty with green eyes. Found in a box on the corner of the street. Despite his humble beginnings, he believes he is supreme ruler of the world and a gift to hoominkind. He’s like a hilarious caricature of a dictator – think more Zim from Invader Zim or the Brain from Pinky and the Brain.
LeRoux: Orange tabby Egyptian Mau x Oriental mixed kitty, with yellow eyes, rescued from the “Clearance” part of the pet store.. He’s the sweetest, most annoying (in a good way) cuddlebug. He meows a lot, and does a lot of aerial acrobatics. He looks super hilarious with his huge ears and skinny, looooooooong body.
Emily: Black and white (think: cow print) Pit Bull Terrier. She’s about 80 pounds, but she thinks she’s a toy dog and will try and cuddle with you a lot. Very well behaved and is a totally hoebag around people – will do anything for treats and pets.
Kashi: Chocolate snowflake African Pygmy Hedgehog. Prickly, cute, and grumpy.
Ichabod, or “Icky”: Blue Veiltail Betta. He’s mellow and likes to swim up to you when you go to the fish tank. He hates the cats though, and will display (“flare”) when they come close and tap on the glass.
10. Weekly goals: Get my sh*t together. For serious.
Karen says
Hi Ines,
Your pet family sounds like so much fun! Does everyone get along pretty well?
Ines, Cha Cha, LeRoux & Emily says
For the most part, everyone (animal wise) ignores the hedgehog. Cha Cha tolerates Emily but doesn’t really *love* her – if she does something too loud/barky/snuffly, he will smack her right in the face. LeRoux likes Emily, and ALL of them bully the poor fish through the glass, lol. When the hedgehog is out though, LeRoux gets very curious!

Mood:
a little groggy but mostly good, though my tummy is a little icky today–bad because I have a lot of pictures to take!

I don’t style my hair, so it’s the rare occasion that both sides of my hair curl inwards/outward (instead of each side doing something different)

Linnea says
1. Mood: Good — feeling a bit better from a blasé last week. Had a great weekend, even got a few workouts and hikes in!
2. Have you ever attended a music festival? Yes. They seem to not necessarily be my thing — I worked at a restaurant that ended up being in the middle of one, and loved it (serving with the nice music on the patio was really great), but then I went and sat at the same music festival — its really distracting when you want to concentrate on the music. maybe I’m just one of those people that likes dark theatres and concert halls better for my listening enjoyment.

9. What can you tell me about your pets (if you have any)? Well, I left two pets at my parents (they were our pets, but I moved out). There is Pepper, a gorgeous completely crazy tabby cat. She’s very opinionated and has a huge personality. There is Patch, a border collie, pretty much my best friend — he’s happy and just loves to be around people so much. The boy’s pets (also at his parent’s) are two cats — a calico cat named Miko (lazy and happy, an absolute suck, but okay on her own too), and a orange tabby named Merlin (happy, energetic and the biggest suck ever — he’ll be purring when he jumps on any object that you are sitting on and he just loves head-butting books that you’re trying to read in bed).
10. Weekly goals: Get some packing done, cleaning done, and all around get ready for the move (Next friday, oh my god). At the same time, keep a sane head, concentrate on work and try to relax. Oh boy, this is going to be an interesting week. (HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY KAREN!)
