- You might be wondering, “So what the heck is this Monday Poll thing anyway?”
Well, it isn’t much of a poll. It’s more just a constantly evolving (devolving?), somewhat random list of questions I’ve been putting out to readers every Monday morning for the past four years. I’ve always enjoyed reading your answers in the comments, and I hope you enjoy reading mine.
- Mood:
Hyper! I just downed a huge cup of coffee and my brain feels like it’s moving at light speed and I can’t use punctuation because it’ll slow me down and I just hope I can stay focused enough to take advantage of this huge surge of energy! - A piece of clothing in your closet that you’ve kept, even though it doesn’t fit?
A cute pair of pinstriped gray-and-white Bebe pants that I’ve had since around 1999 because I think, “If I had a pound of Crisco, four hours and a miracle, maybe, just maybe…”I think they’ve gone out and come back into style at least twice over that time.
- Do you sleep on your back, tummy or side?
Yes. 🙂LOL! But mostly my back, which is both comfortable for me and convenient for Tabs. It lets him fall asleep on my chest, and then spring off my exposed belly at 5 in the morning.
Ah, the things we do for our pets…
- Game of Thrones moment! If your house had an official sigil/seal, what would it be?
A chunky gray tabby with a low-hanging belly. - Did you ever have a sticker (or other kind of) collection? If you did, do you remember what happened to it?
I had a sticker collection, but I have no idea what happened to it. I remember seeing it at my parents’ house about 10 years ago, but then it disappeared.I think they may have thrown it out and just don’t want to admit it… I had some really great stickers in there, too! My scratch-and-sniff and Lisa Frank collections were epic. EPIC!
- What’s your commute like?
Now? It’s not bad (about 40 feet), but I’ve had some doozies involving boats, buses and even trains that took me more than an hour to get to work. One of the drawbacks of my current commute is that it’s tough to maintain boundaries, since I live and work (and share a room with my kitty employer) in the same building. I often snap pictures and sit at the computer at all hours of the day and night.
- One small thing that brings you joy?
Pulling up to a parking meter and finding leftover time on the clock… Love that! - What’s your favorite month and why?
June, because it’s when my brother and I have our birthdays. Plus, it’s the summer gateway month. - Last drugstore beauty product that you really, really loved?
Sonia Kashuk’s A Powerful Punch Nail Kit. I loved (and still do) the summery colors and tiny bottles. That green shade? Making Waves? That one’s my favorite. - Weekly goals:
To make appointments to see a dentist and an optometrist, to run five miles on the treadmill twice, to eat more fruit than I did last week (because I’ve been slacking on the fiber front lately), to go through the piles of paperwork on my desk (and the surrounding floor), and to try to stay on task.
Hey, hey, Monday! 🙂 So. Game of Thrones. Did you watch…? I quite enjoyed the season premiere, although I had to keep telling myself not to get attached to any of the characters. I keep hoping/wanting good things for Arya Stark and Jon Snow.
And speaking of GOT, I asked Tabs last night how he felt about us adopting a dire wolf. Unsurprisingly, he hated the idea.

Oh, your sigil idea is too cute! 🙂
Fieran says
It does help to “step away from the scene” sometimes. Helps me keep my cool. The thing I have learned over the years is that the person who is always calm is the person whom everyone kind of gravitates towards, you know?

1. Mood:
Kinda tired. Got to work early this morning, but that means I get to leave early too!

I have several Hard Rock Cafe t-shirts that I keep for souvenier purposes.

Can I borrow your idea? Mingus is a tabby cat and Ella’s got the low hanging belly. 🙂

Yes, I think back in middle school I had a sticker collection with scratch and sniff and those puffy kind of stickets.

Order a new flat iron. My Chi broke and I’m trying to narrow down which one I want.
I enjoyed the GoT premiere! Joffrey is such jerk (to put it mildly). I hope the baby dragons survive and I’m looking forward to see what Jon Snow & Co find out beyond the wall.

1. Mood – Meh. Pretty tired. Definitely did not catch up on sleep over spring break. If anything, I made my off sleeping habits worse!
2. A t-shirt from a Sugarland concert, the first actual concert I ever went to. It still kind of fits…
3. I almost always start out on my right side and end up on my left. When I’m really really tired I will fall asleep on my stomach.

8. June – it’s summer and my birthday and school is done.
9. I so far have only used drugstore brands, though I am trying to save up for some Urban Decay, but the best drugstore thing I have found so far is Maybelline Master Drama Eyeliner. It literally stays on forever, especially the black.

1. Mood: Meh, I think I’m getting sick!
2. A piece of clothing in your closet that you’ve kept, even though it doesn’t fit?: A cute blazer from H&M that’s lots of years old. It’s probably not wearable any more, I just haven’t gotten around to getting rid of it.
3. Do you sleep on your back, tummy or side?: My side and my back. And when I sleep on my back I keep my knees bent and crossed like Mister Rogers. Weirdest comment I’ve ever received regarding sleeping position.

Physically exhausted, mentally sluggish. Work was solidly busy in a very good way.

3. Do you sleep on your back, tummy or side?
Side mostly, followed by back.
4. Game of Thrones moment! If your house had an official sigil/seal, what would it be?
Hands together like in the prayer or namaste position. Since I’m Thai, that’s how we say, “Hello.” I consider it more of a welcome than a religious symbol.
5. Did you ever have a sticker (or other kind of) collection?
I used to collect rocks and sticks when walking. When I picked up a leaf, stick, or rock, I was feeling gratitude and joy from simply being. I wanted to honor the moment with something small and tangible from nature. I have no idea what happened to all of debris. I think my mom threw them away when cleaning the house.
6. What’s your commute like?
Long, but not rushed. I take back roads to get to my office; cutting through state game lands and farms. For clients located closer to the city, I schedule them when there isn’t any rush traffic.
7. A small thing that brings you joy?
Valentine heart shaped Altoid tins. I LOVE them. I was so taken by the design that I went to every CVS in my area to buy them all. I gave most of them away and kept about 10 for myself.
8. What’s your favorite month and why?

1. Mood:
Can exhausted be a mood?
2. A piece of clothing in your closet that you’ve kept, even though it doesn’t fit?
I have a couple of uniform skirts that… well they fit. but they were issued a size to big and it would be incredibly unflattering to wear them… but they hang there… can’t be throwing uniforms out.

4. Game of Thrones moment! If your house had an official sigil/seal, what would it be?
No idea what you are talking about here 😉
5. Did you ever have a sticker (or other kind of) collection?
I didn’t collect stickers so much as I didn’t ever use the stickers I was given and they accumulated (I couldn’t handle the thought of using a sticker in case I had something better to use it for later.) I did (and still do) collect in circulation coins and at one point collected notebook paper. ((does this make me a hoarder? I think so))

Opening Draw Something and having a game in which it is my turn.
8. What’s your favorite month and why?
September when the Spring breezes come through.
9. Last drugstore beauty product that you loved?
Essence Stay With Me Lipgloss in I Like Cotton Candy. I was totally surprised by how much I enjoy the heavily blue-based pink and its lasting power. For $3 in Australia that is totally ridiculous.

Not embarrass myself at my thesis meeting.
Hand in my lab report on time.
Avoid eating chocolate until Easter Sunday.

1. Mood: Chipper. Spring is FINALLY here to stay in the Great North.
2. A piece of clothing in your closet that you’ve kept, even though it doesn’t fit? The dress I wore to the first high school formal. I was about 5 inches shorter and a whole lot skinnier/smaller, so I’d have to grease myself up with crisco to squeeze/slide into the dress, but I kept it because I remembered how grown up and posh I felt in my first “fancy” dress.
3. Do you sleep on your back, tummy or side? Side or back, but I roll around a lot.
4. Game of Thrones moment! If your house had an official sigil/seal, what would it be? A cat! CCL in the hausssss!

6. What’s your commute like? On days that I drive… about 30-40 minutes in normal traffic with the local classic rock station, on days that I take the commuter train or bus… about 45 minutes to 1 hour while I read on my Kobo app.
7. A small thing that brings you joy? Getting a good morning text from the boyfriend (he starts working at 7am so he leaves much earlier than I do) around the time I leave for work.
8. What’s your favorite month and why? July – summer is in full swing!
9. Last drugstore beauty product that you loved? This is a French “pharmacie” product (not traditionally “drugstore” like Revlon or Maybelline) Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm and Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Hibiscus.
10. Weekly goals: Take a walk outside when it’s sunny 🙂
