- You might be wondering, “So what the heck is this Monday Poll thing anyway?”
Well, it isn’t much of a poll. It’s more just a constantly evolving (devolving?), somewhat random list of questions I’ve been putting out to readers every Monday morning for the past four years. I’ve always enjoyed reading your answers in the comments, and I hope you enjoy reading mine.
- Mood:
- How do you spend most of your downtime?
- Waxing: love it or leave it?
- Five beauty products you’re loathe to live without?
- Ten years ago, would you have imagined yourself doing what you do for a living now?
- Are you procrastinating about anything right now?
- You just took in a kitten; what do you name it?
- How do you get around?
- What’s a good mantra for you this week?
- Weekly goals:
Glowing! I just finished a long, slow jog (my yoga-strained back feels much better today), so now I’m basking in the glow of a post-workout endorphin rush.
Well, there’s TV, and some of my favorite shows include Downton Abbey, The Walking Dead, 30 Rock, Justified, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (I know; can’t help it), Top Chef and Project Runway. I also just like to hang out with El Hub and Tabs. Oh, and I also play puzzle games on El Hub’s Kindle and procrastinate, LOL!
Love it — if I have the time (I prefer to do my own waxing. Upper lip, legs and lady parts); leave it when I don’t. Shaving is just so much faster, though, but I definitely prefer the smoother results I get from wax.
1) Dermalogica Super Rich Repair (I just started using this on my dry spots and LOVE it), 2) Rene Furturer Naturia Dry Shampoo, 3) MAC Pro Longwear Concealer, 4) the Shu Uemura Lash Curler and 5) Pacifica Body Butters.
Not at all. To be honest, not in a million years! I’m happy now, but I do feel like I probably won’t be blogging forever. I’m not sure what else I’d do, though. Maybe full-time cat assisting, or writing a book of some kind.
Oh, yes, and yargh! — it’s the house. I feel like I haven’t made any progress furnishing it in the two years we’ve been here.
I just can’t commit to furniture. It feels so…permanent because it’s so big and hard to get rid of if you end up changing your mind, which, come on, you know me. I’m apt to do.
I don’t want to be stuck with a stressful chair for the next 20 years!!
Okay, I know that’s irrational.
Ultimately, it would depend on the kitty’s personality and whether the name sticks, but I would love Tabs to have a sweet little kitty sister named Sugar.
Mostly by car, because I live in the suburbs where everything’s kinda spread out. I drive a gunmetal gray Mazda with absolutely zero side visibility. None whatsoever. True story: when El Hub and I were looking for cars a few years ago, he asked me what I wanted most in a vehicle, and I said, “All I want is a car with really great side visibility.” So, of course, we got the car with absolutely no side visibility at all, LOL!
Sweetie, if you’re reading this, sorry. 🙂 But it’s true.
At least it’s reliable.
In my case, no (more) whining!
Focus on the task at hand, to run/exercise at least four times this week, to start planning for a trip to Kauai in the spring, and to start a new workout tracking calendar.
So…did you catch Downton Abbey last night? I won’t spoil it for you if you haven’t, but this I can safely say: you won’t be disappointed. 🙂
Promise me we can dish about it later in the comments. I have to talk about it with someone!
In other news, happy Presidents’ Day! It’s a holiday here in the U.S., and El Hub has the day off from work. If you have a little time off, I’d love to hear from you in today’s Monday Poll.

Yep. 10 years ago I was about a year into my current job so I had an idea of the the type of work I liked doing. As for the next ten years, I’m not sure…
6. Are you procrastinating about anything right now?
Cleaning out the closet in the office. There’s boxes, papers, and containers with all sorts of computer parts and cables. It really needs to be done, but I know it’s going to take a of time. My latest strategy is to work on it a few minutes each day.
7. You just took in a kitten; what do you name it?
It would depend on his/her personality. We’ve gone with musician’s names so far, so I might stick with that theme.
8. How do you get around?
I live in the suburbs and work is about 20 miles away from home, so I spend a lot of time in my white Honda Accord. I bought it used after my last car (Honda Civic) was rear-ended and totaled. My favorite feature on the Accord is the heated seats!
Before the Civic, I had another Honda that was destroyed in a fire at a Midas store. I had dropped it off in the morning to get some repairs and in the afternoon it was gone. Keeping my fingers crossed that my current car doesn’t meet a horrible demise!
9. What’s a good mantra for you this week?
Just do it.
10. Weekly goals:
Try to work on the aforementioned closet of doom. 🙂
So jealous that you’re planning a trip to Kauai. It is my favorite island, and I would love to go back one day. If you go, please post lots of pictures. 🙂
Have a great day!

1. Mood: tired
2. How do you spend most of your downtime? sitting at home with my cat, rabbit, and fiance.
3. Waxing: love it or leave it? no thanks. I tried it once, and it ended badly.
4. Five beauty products you’re loathe to live without? Femme Couture Brow Pencil in Auburn, mascara, CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser, CeraVe PM Facial Hydrating Lotion, Vanicream SPF 60 Sunscreen
5. Ten years ago, would you have imagined yourself doing what you do for a living now? Teaching
6. Are you procrastinating about anything right now? homework, as usual!
7. You just took in a kitten; what do you name it? It depends on the kittycat’s personality! The last kittycat I took in temporarily (before giving him to the humane society while bawling, because I couldn’t keep him – I found him in my parking lot crying and dirty and with booboos) was referred to as Tiny Cat because he was a baby.
8. How do you get around? a 2002 Mercury Sable that is referred to as the Grandpa-Mobile – it belonged to my grandpa, who loved to speed and tailgate, lol.
9. What’s a good mantra for you this week? One week until Spring Break!
10. Weekly goals: 4 workouts, get approval for my research experiment.
Katherine G says
1. Mood:
~A little sleepy. I either need more sleep or to start developing a better, more energizing workout routine and diet.
2. How do you spend most of your downtime?
~When I get days for full downtime with no chores (or anything to make me feel guilty about wanting/having downtime), I like to sleep, do some light exercise, and watch some of my favorite shows (including new reality faves). I love rainy days for downtime because then I don’t need an excuse to stay inside!
3. Waxing: love it or leave it?
~I like the idea of it, but I can’t stand growing out any body hair for more than a day. I have a great razor that works in the shower, and doesn’t give me razor burn or a rash. Also, having rose bushes has benefits – I can make rose water to soothe my skin after shaving.
4. Five beauty products you’re loathe to live without?
1)Urban Decay Primer Potion in Sin for when I decide to do eye makeup.
2)Bare Minerals Powder Foundation in Golden Beige – gives me a soft glow in the winter and plays up a tan in the summer. Also does not break me out or rub off on clothing.
3)Garnier Eye Cream – keeps the skin around my eyes soft and also helps repair any damage/wrinkles from rubbing off makeup, being out in the sun, etc.
4)Aveeno Positively Radiant Face Lotion – gentle on my sensitive skin, doesn’t cause breakouts, and helps even out my skin tone as well as give it a nice glow.
5) Ion Deep Repair Leave In Cream – meant for color treated hair, and while mine is healthy, it can get a little dry (especially in the winter). Keeps my hair soft and smooth, and also protects my color in the sun. It’s hard to prevent auburn hair color from fading!
5. Ten years ago, would you have imagined yourself doing what you do for a living now?
~Probably, yes. I always wanted to be in a career where it was fast paced and I was helping people. However, while my career choice after my bachelor’s has changed a bit, it is still along the lines of what I am doing now. 10 years ago I would not have imagined going for what I am going for now. Goes to show how much things can change through life experience!
6. Are you procrastinating about anything right now?
~Not really. Just feeling tired.
7. You just took in a kitten; what do you name it?
~Milo or Boo Boo. However, it’s unlikely we would get a cat as my fiance is not into cats. I have always wanted to adopt a dog or cat (and horse) of my own rather than taking care of other people’s and training other people’s, so one day it will happen.
8. How do you get around?
~My 2003 Toyota Echo. Very reliable car, and very simple. No power steering and no anti-lock brakes. Also very light in weight so bad in the snow. It’s a good car for teaching you good reflexes while driving, haha. But yeah, it gets me from Point A to Point B.
9. What’s a good mantra for you this week?
~Stay positive. It’s when I am more negative about things that they don’t get done to my fullest capabilities. I don’t have many negative days but I try to find something to cheer me up when I do!
10. Weekly goals:
~Go running, since it’s supposed to be in the 60’s here in MD.
~Try some new workouts that are on Comcast On Demand.
~Finish all schoolwork.

Nope. I actually failed math in junior high, but now my work involves a lot of high level math and stats. =P. I’m sure my teachers back then would be surprised too. But to be honest, I only failed it because my teacher was super boring and I slept in all of his classes (worst of all, he was the Principal of the school).
