Pretty darn spiffy, but I feel a chill down in the marrow of my bones! It’s cold and hella Hundred-Acre Wood out here in Novato today…
A pair of brown closed-toe Carlos Santanas I picked up at Marshalls a couple months back. El Hub calls ’em my “Blanche boots,” as in Blanche from The Golden Girls, but what does he know about fashion? Seriously, the boy wears the same thing every day (yes, I’m talking to you, sweetie). They have 2-inch heels and go with everything.
Naw, my place is such a mess. Someday though.
Yea, if they aren’t too tight or itchy around the neck.
Sho’nuff. I’ve had gray hairs since 15! I used to color mine at home until a few years ago when I figured out how badly I suck at it. Manicures, pedicures and waxing I can handle, but hair coloring, not so much.
Neutrogena Healthy Skin in Raisin. It’s been an old school fave of my for years because of its smooth, easy-to-blend texture. Plus it always looks natural.
That’s a tough one… I’d like to say, “Nothing, I’m perfectly happy with everything the way it is,” but since you asked… 🙂 As of this morning, I’d like to either get better at managing my time or add 5 inches to my height, LOL!
Bumble & Bumble Super Rich Conditioner, which I’ve loved for about a decade. No matter how many new conditioners I test, I’ve always come back to super moisturizing Super Rich. It knows me and my waves so well and never causes my scalp to flake. Plus, I love the smell of honeysuckle in the morning!
V.V. Brown’s new CD, Travelling Like the Light because it makes me feel like dancing (I want to dance the night away!).
Exercise each and every day (hook or crook!), stay positive, and stick my schedule.
What’s the story, morning glory?
Anyone out there have a Halloween hangover? I’ve had them before (must be all those Peanut M&Ms before bed), but this year I exercised a modicum of candy restraint.

9. What music have you been into lately? Nothing in particular.
10. Weekly goals: Eat healthy, and get atleast 7-8 hours of sleep each night.
Rachael says
1. Mood: Calm, it’s a nice day out and I’m all set. Just gotta remember to pay my rent.
2. Your favorite fall boots? Black slight platform with multiple buckles up the side.
3. Have you ever thrown a dinner party? Yea, me and my best friend when we were 14, there was a dress code and everything. Didn’t go as well as we wanted.
4. Turtleneck sweaters — yea or nay? Make my long neck look short.

6. Favorite drugstore blush? Wet and Wild in Heather Silk, a berry toned matte.
7. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? Be able to relax more
8. What’s one beauty product you couldn’t live without? Cera Ve. It’s a brand of cleansers and moisturizers for people with extremely dry and sensitive skin.
9. What music have you been into lately? Being a DJ, I’m into everything.
10. Weekly goals: Pay rent, study for French, watch Gone With The Wind for history class, go through the bathroom cabinet and get rid of stuff that I don’t use or doesn’t work.
Karen says
Hi Rachael,
You’re not the first person here to give props to Cera Ve. I need to get on that train, for real!
BTW, how was your Halloween? Did your Phoenix costume turn out okay?
Rachael says
Cera Ve is awesome. I’ve only been using it for a week and I already notice that my skin is more moisturized without me doing that like every two or three hours. Plus it took down the redness in my cheeks enough that I don’t need my green tinted Smashbox primer.
Halloween was awesome! I love that holiday. Unfortunately, all of my professors had a massive pile of work for me to do so I couldn’t finish my costume in time :(. I went as a Moulin Rouge style can-can girl. Complete with ruffles and corset. All from my closet. LOL

1. Mood: crazy tired. We visited friends in Philadelphia this weekend and got back last night at 5 a.m. I couldn’t sleep past 10, so now I’m just trying to catch up on cleaning, laundry and school work.
2. Your favorite fall boots? A pair of slouchy gray mid-calf ones I got last season.
3. Have you ever thrown a dinner party? Yes, I love to try out different recipes and have friends over to share!
4. Turtleneck sweaters — yea or nay? Nay for me. I can do cowl-neck, and I can even deal with a turtleneck under something like a cardigan or a dress, but not the sweater itself.
5. Do you color your hair? Yes, I get my hair highlighted. Every time I try to color my hair myself it comes out horrrrrrrrible, and sadly I’ve made that mistake several times. I tried again last month and so regret it, my hair feels fried now and I had to get it fixed anyway because the color was awful.
6. Favorite drugstore blush? I like the Living Doll one by Hard Candy, but I haven’t really tried any other drugstore blushes so I have nothing to compare it to. I’m so loyal to Nars blushes and Stila convertible color that I hardly try anything else.
7. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I could say alot of things, but I’d rather focus on the things I love about myself 🙂
8. What’s one beauty product you couldn’t live without? Mascara. Even if I have a no makeup day, I still won’t leave the house without it.
9. What music have you been into lately? None actually, I’ve been really into quiet. I need some new stuff though, I’m getting bored with my current collection.
10. Weekly goals: Finish a paper early, get started on a presentation, and hopefully today read through the text we’ll be talking about in class tomorrow.
Karen says
Hi Liz,
I’m sorry to hear about your hair! The same thing basically happened to me every time I did it myself. Good luck with the trip to the colorist; I hope she/he can help your hair look fab.
Sarahc says
1. Mood: I feel like I slept well, but I’m a little overwhelmed.
2. Your favorite fall boots? I don’t have a pair, which, hmm…gives me something to shop for!
3. Have you ever thrown a dinner party?Back in college once or twice, but that was just spaghetti and beer
4. Turtleneck sweaters — yea or nay? A BIG nay.
5. Do you color your hair? Nope.
6. Favorite drugstore blush? Revlon Colorstay Mineral blushes
7. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I wish I was more organized. There are so many things I want to do but just can’t get my shizz together, le sigh…

9. What music have you been into lately? Wale, Drake, Lady Gaga
10. Weekly goals:
Karen says
Hi Sarahc,
Yes, toothpaste counts!
Ashley says
1. Mood: It’s a battle between happy and nervous. Happy I got the job, nervous because it’s my first retail job!
2. Your favorite fall boots? Deena & Ozzy boots I bought at Urban Outfitters. I love them so much I have the same style in two different colors.
3. Have you ever thrown a dinner party? Nope. Maybe when I can cook things by scratch..
4. Turtleneck sweaters — yea or nay? Big yay when I was 8 but not so much anymore.
5. Do you color your hair? I have before but I’m letting my hair breath now.
6. Favorite drugstore blush? NYC Blushable Créme Sticks!
7. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I wish I was more social.
8. What’s one beauty product you couldn’t live without? Moisturizer. My skin is so dry, not even 8 cups of water a day can save it.
9. What music have you been into lately? None. Okay maybe Justin Bieber..
10. Weekly goals: Find suitable work clothes and to complete all class readings.
Karen says
Hi Ashley,
I feel you on the dry skin, sigh. What face moisturizer is your fave? I’ve been using Clarins Hydraquench, which I love, but it’s so expensive!
Ashley says
I use a mix of jojoba oil and Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief. It’s not doing it’s job 100% anymore. I heard Clarins Hydraquench was the booomb. I might have to try it!
But I’m also thinking about trying the H2o Face Oasis. Have you tried that one before?
Saffron says
1. Stressy! I confronted a friend who was being a passive aggressive man-bitch last night and it didn’t go over well, plus no one else backed me up. I get tired of folks putting up with social dysfunction just cause it’s expected, but it’s hella stressful being the one to stand up to the status quo.
2. Now that I’ve moved back to Seattle? Suffice to say Merrel and waterproof. Zero glamour, but I’m warm.
3. Not the polite middle class sort, but I’ll have a group of folks over for pizza and bad action movies any day of the week.
4. I totally look like a German art student in a turtleneck, but in a way I kinda rock.
5. I make my red hair even redder with henna, and sometimes if my job allows it I’ll go for (even) brighter shades, with a special place in my heart for Manic Panic pillarbox red. I’ve got fairly short hair these days for dying ease, when it was long dying it myself was torture!
6. I’m a geologist and see the wisdom of going talc-free on as much stuff as I can – I have a couple of the physician’s formula mineral blushes. The solid one is kinda chalky but workable, but the “organics” duo with a peach blush and a matte bronzer is freaking awesome.
7. I’d love to get over my procrastination issues. Ahem. Also I’d like to be 5 inches shorter. 😉
8. I take it soap is a given? Some sort of curl control cream, to keep the big red fro at bay.
9. Nothing omg, I mostly listen to books on tape cause I’m a dork.
10. I’m getting the house ready for 2 new cats! It’ll bring me up to a total of 3, which is my way of saying that I’m comfortable with being a single woman in my 30’s who doesn’t want any children. 😛 They’re adorable, I’m so excited to be getting some new hairy roommates.
Karen says
Hi Saffron,
Can you explain why you think going talc-free is a good idea? I’m curious to know why!
Also, congrats on the new kitties! When do they arrive?
Saffron says
I hate to spread medical alarm and am totally into adhering to science when you choose what you do and don’t ingest – so that being said talc stances are kinda personal due to their scientific grey-area-yness – the FDA says it’s okie-dokie, but it is physically similar to and often mined alongside known problematic fibrous minerals such as asbestos, and there is very little industry regulation where purity is concerned. There are valid studies on both sides of the carcinogen issue. Considering how widespread its use is and how much data we have on the health of folks who mine it, clearly it’s not a major problem.
My avoidance is totally a weird personal bias – I’m sure I have other habits that are just as potentially grey area-risky. 😛
Karen says
Hi Saffron,
Thank you for giving me some insight into the topic. I’m always looking to learn more about ingredients, so it’s definitely good food for thought.
BTW, I think your job is really cool. Do you have a specialty? The only other geologist I ever knew focused on earthquakes (and yes, she lived in the Bay Area!).
Rita says
1. Mood: All right! Today is the 2nd day in winter time, and I’m already feeling better!
2. Your favorite fall boots? I have a new pair, but I have not used them yet. But they look lovely!
3. Have you ever thrown a dinner party? No.
4. Turtleneck sweaters — yea or nay? Nay. I would love them, but they are a no-no with a big bust.
5. Do you color your hair? Yes, it’s been red for years.
6. Favorite drugstore blush? I don’t think I have one.
7. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I would like to have no health problems.
8. What’s one beauty product you couldn’t live without? All the concealers!
9. What music have you been into lately? I just listen to what ever is on the radio.
10. Weekly goals: Nothing special this week I’m afraid.
Karen says
Hi Rita,
Ooh, what do your new boots look like?
Rita says
They are yet another addition to my Clarks Bombay shoe collection – Kelt Bombay ancle boots – 40’s ancle boots?
Karen says
Clarks are AWESOME shoes, btw. Really cute and so comfy!
HanaBerlin says
1. Mood: Good. I know this week is going to be a good one! Go Optimism.
2. Your favorite fall boots? My black uggs.
3. Have you ever thrown a dinner party? No, but i have helped my mom thrown a few.
4. Turtleneck sweaters — yea or nay? Ewww no. I hate turtle necks. I also live in So Cal so that could be a contributing factor.
5. Do you color your hair? Yes. Color and highlight.
6. Favorite drugstore blush? Cover Girl Blushers. Cheap and effective.
7. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? This is a hard one. I’m not really sure. I’m 5’2 so maybe add a few inches???
8. What’s one beauty product you couldn’t live without? SPF for my face and neck.
9. What music have you been into lately? A lil of this and a lil of that.
10. Weekly goals: Read a book.
Karen says
Hi Hana,
Yeah, SoCal folks probably have no need for turtlenecks!!
Do you have a book lined up to read yet?
HanaBerlin says
Not yet, but i’m thinking about going to pick one up this afternoon.
Karen says
I need to get a new one too and am thinking about Beautiful Creatures:

A friend of mine said it was really good.

Ohh that sound like a good read. Thanks for the tip! =)

Pretty perky, I’ve got a good day to look forward to- dinner with the family and boyfriend after class!

A pair of brown flat under-the-knee suede and faux fur ones with two furry balls dangling off the side of each… which my Mum got for me from Taiwan. I love them- they’re comfortable and keep my feet warm 😀
3. Have you ever thrown a dinner party?
Not personally, but with my family tons of times!
4. Turtleneck sweaters — yea or nay?
Yeah, they can be quite warm and comfy and snuggly, without having to bring along an extra scarf! Oh, if they’re not too tight or scratchy.
5. Do you color your hair?
Yes, though once a year (In mostly fiery red), and for the last few months my hair is ombre haha!
6. Favorite drugstore blush?
I don’t use blush D:
7. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
Hmm… I have no idea. I like myself the way I am, and I don’t believe in regrets.
8. What’s one beauty product you couldn’t live without?
My skincare regime 😛
9. What music have you been into lately?
I’ve always been into rock- but lately it’s been Slash and Linkin Park’s new album (A Thousand Suns)
10. Weekly goals:
I just want to relax and take it slow this week, because it has been quite hectic and tiring (Though I do need to get a soft start on my thesis)… so I suppose some window shopping, a facial and pedicure? 🙂
Karen says
Hi Stephanie,
Have fun at dinner tonight! What makeup do you plan on wearing?
Ru says
Love today’s list 🙂
1. Mood: Calm, and inspired
2. Your favorite fall boots? Any boot I own is my favorite, depending on the occasion! Got a suede black bootie, a knee-high black stilletto, and a suede black knee-high kitten heel. Looking to buy an over-the-knee one, can’t wait!
3. Have you ever thrown a dinner party? Just threw a party this weekend, but it was mostly snack food. Soon I will have to learn how to throw a dinner party.
4. Turtleneck sweaters — yea or nay? No, they choke me
5. Do you color your hair? No. Jet black 🙂 I’ve gotten professional hilites once, maybe next year I’ll try that again.
6. Favorite drugstore blush? Just started wearing blush a few months ago, and so far it’s been mid/high range brands.
7. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? Control my hot-headed temper, learn to be more calm
8. What’s one beauty product you couldn’t live without? Right now: Naked Palette
9. What music have you been into lately? The Rescues, bought their album off of iTunes after hearing their “Teenage Dream” cover. Amazing.
10. Weekly goals: Count calories, read, take time for myself- whatever that means. Practice calmness.
Karen says
Hi Ru,
I want an over-the-knee pair, too but I’m worried I’ll spend most of the time pulling ’em up! If you find a cute pair please let me know!
Ru says
Hey Karen, most of them have zippers up to the mid calf area, so the pull up issue is not so bad! Check http://www.Dsw.com
Kim says
1. Mood: A little worn out.
2. Your favorite fall boots? My knee high, black riding boots. They’re classic, square toed and very versatile.
3. Have you ever thrown a dinner party? Yes, a few times, but just for close friends/their kids. We always host the holiday dinners at our house but we have a small family so it’s nothing too stressful. 🙂
4. Turtleneck sweaters — yea or nay? YEA! But, v-necks are much more flattering on me.
5. Do you color your hair? You betcha – every 4 weeks. I was an early gray gal too so it’s been forever.
6. Favorite drugstore blush? I’m a make-up snob and have never tried a drugstore blush that I can remember. 🙂
7. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? Just one, huh? HAHAHA! Coming off of this weekend, I’ll say I’d like to have some better self-control when surrounded by good friends and alcohol. Setting a drink limit and sticking to it would be an excellent start.
8. What’s one beauty product you couldn’t live without? Mascara. Right now it’s Faux Cils but I’d take Hypnose too. I don’t leave the house without mascara!
9. What music have you been into lately? I’ve been a bit eclectic, but I seem to be gravitating toward some old, slow faves (Motley Crue’s Home Sweet Home, the Scorpions’ Still Lovin’ You, the Rolling Stones’ Wild Horses). Not sure why. 🙂
10. Weekly goals: Get some food in the house. The cupboards are bare. And, get a little more rest to help make up for the long weekend!
Karen says
Hi Kim,
GURL you know I love Faux Cils. Have you seen this blue one? It’s kinda ’80s but I WANT IT!!
http://thenonblonde.blogspot.com/2010/10/ysl-blue-mascara-volume-effet-faux-cils.html
Kim says
Oh, I think that would be awesome on you! I like the idea of the navy blue too (of course I do!). Am I crazy to want the Armani silver?
http://www.giorgioarmanibeauty-usa.com/_us/_en/lastcall/index/sparkling-silver-mascara.htm
Maybe it’s the fact that winter/ the holidays are coming up quickly, but I’m even more obsessed with white and silver eye make-up lately. An intervention might be in order! 🙂
Fieran says
1. Mood: Kind of mellow yet excited (weird huh) – PMS is killing me but I am so looking forward to vacation this week.
2. Your favorite fall boots? – A comfortable pair of chocolate brown ankle boots from Softwalk – they go really well with blue skinny jeans.
3. Have you ever thrown a dinner party?- Yes I love dinner parties, unfortunately my favourite dinner guests have moved to Texas. Man, I miss that family.
4. Turtleneck sweaters — yea or nay? – In Norway there’s no option 🙂 Yay, but only if they fit well.
5. Do you color your hair? – No, I tried to once with blue black (I don’t know what I was thinking as I have pitch black hair) and failed miserably. The colour washed out everywhere and did not absorb. Kind of gave up since then.
6. Favorite drugstore blush? – I don’t normally use blush to be honest. I have a few but use them rarely. Have not bought any from the drugstore before.
7. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? – I’d love to be a little slimmer, lose 5 kgs and tone up.
8. What’s one beauty product you couldn’t live without? – Moisturizer. I hoard all kinds of hand and body lotion because I’m terrified of my skin getting dry and itchy, not to mention a flare up of eczema. Scandinavian winter ruins my skin 🙁 and my only weapon against it is moisturizer.
9. What music have you been into lately? – Slow, mellow music – suits the weather here these days. Currently listening to Cary Brothers “Can’t Take My Eyes off You”.
10. Weekly goals: – Pack for vacation, clean the apartment so I won’t come home to a mess, and have heaps of fun in San Francisco.
Karen says
Hi Fieran,
I’m wildly jealous that you’re heading on vacay. Where are you going?
Fieran says
San Francisco 🙂 .. just for a couple of days as I’m running out of vacation days at work. I’ve been so bad this year – I’ve been traveling way too much but mostly on short trips. Feeling a little bit guilty.
Karen says
AWESOME! You will love our town!
If I’ve already given you these links, my bad, but here they are just in case:
Tuesday Beauty Tips: 9 Things to Do on Your Next Trip to San Francisco
Thar She Blows! Getting Blown at the Blo Bar, SF
Fieran says
Thank you! That’s very helpful 🙂 I’ll definitely keep those tips in mind. I have a good 6 days to fill up. Contemplating driving down the coast for the view and then going to Monterrey (sp?) where they have the Aquarium, I believe. Also hoping to eat some really good food – American diner/Japanese/Indian/German/Thai/Chinese…and ohhh Starbucks. There’s no Starbucks in Norway. I love Starbucks because I used to work there (their Malaysian branch) years ago and it’s a nice reminder of how life is always changing. I also want to check out the Museum of Modern Art (because I’ve never been to an art musem) and the Cartoon Musuem. Going to hunt for some good fish and chips (hopefully) at Fisherman’s Wharf… let’s see if my plans materialize.
beth says
1. Mood:
Content. I’ve got a lot of school/related work to do but since midterm exams are over I’ve got more time to do them.
2. Your favorite fall boots?
I’ve got a pair of army style ankle boots I keep wearing. Olive green suedey material from nine west.
3. Have you ever thrown a dinner party?
Unofficially. Some friends came over to hang out/drink wine and we ended up making spaghetti and garlic bread too haha.
4. Turtleneck sweaters — yea or nay?
nay for me! Turtlenecks do not like big boobs and chubby cheeks!
5. Do you color your hair?
I have the underside dyed reddish purple so it looks cool peeking out from my layers and the upkeep is easier since the roots aren’t *as* noticeable.
6. Favorite drugstore blush?
I don’t think I have a drugstore blush 😡
7. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
Ability to commit to a healthy diet/exercise regimen. I don’t mind putting in the work to making my lifestyle healthier and my body feel better but I am a really bad yo yo dieter – I have lost and gained the same 30 – 50 pounds since adolescence and I am 20 now. Ranged from size 5 to 14 up and down and up and down and in between for years and it’s awful. Wish I could force myself to commit to getting better and staying there!
8. What’s one beauty product you couldn’t live without?
Lip balm or moisturizer. They aren’t really cosmetic but definitely a beauty product and definitely something I need!
9. What music have you been into lately?
I haven’t had a whole lot of time to listen to anything new but during my study marathons I get into Cursive for whatever reason.
10. Weekly goals: gotta get my homework done, work on an extra credit project since I did pretty poorly on a midterm, get to the gym!, and make headway on a school related project.
Karen says
Hi Beth,
Your hair sounds really cute! I love colorful panels that peek out from underneath. That made you decide to go reddish purple? Is it hard to keep up?
beth says
Purple is my favorite color and I’ve always found red shades to be really cool since theyre so unique. Even if it does come out of the bottle, I love my hair. It’s not too much upkeep, I try to touch up every 4 – 6 weeks but sometimes life gets so busy! I try to use a color depositing shampoo and conditioner every other wash but usually less frequently. Right now it’s faded into a bronzey red color but I hope to touch up soon!
CinCin says
1. Mood: Rather passive and calm today…
2. Your favorite fall boots? Brown Madden girl booties 🙂
3. Have you ever thrown a dinner party? yes and its crazzi to keep up in the kitchen and making sure you’re making enought food for everyone !!
4. Turtleneck sweaters — yea or nay? Nay! i feel like im choking myself !
5. Do you color your hair? Im growing my color out !
6. Favorite drugstore blush? Maybelline mousse blush in Plum !
7. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? Are we talking about physic here ? IF so i would change some parts of my body lol but not toooo much !!! I think my moodiness I can get upset easily!
8. What’s one beauty product you couldn’t live without? Lipgloss …i tend to buy them and lose them constantly
9. What music have you been into lately? Sharika “loca” It makes me wanna get up and dance some merengue !!
10. Weekly goals: Keep up with my online class and work out to relieve stress!!!
Karen says
Hi CinCin,
Can you do a real deal merengue?! I’ve always wanted to learn but never got around to it!
Casey says
1. Mood: excited – the weather is going to be gorgeous this week in SoCal
2. Your favorite fall boots? My Cole Haan riding boots from last season. They’re beyond comfortable.
3. Have you ever thrown a dinner party? A few times. I would like to do it more often.
4. Turtleneck sweaters — yea or nay? Yay – hubs isn’t a huge fan, but hey I try not to wear them too often.
5. Do you color your hair? I do…once you start it’s hard to stop!
6. Favorite drugstore blush? That’s tough, I haven’t used drug store make up in ages. I think Sonia Kashuk has some great products. Maybe I’ll have to give her blush a try.
7. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? My height…I would like to be just a little taller – maybe 5’5″
8. What’s one beauty product you couldn’t live without? MAC Blot Powder
9. What music have you been into lately? The Jackson 5.
10. Weekly goals: hitting the gym
Karen says
Hi Casey,
I looove old school Jackson 5. Have you heard Who’s Loving You? It’s my fave.
Casey says
I love that song – I love “Never Can Say Goodbye”
Karen says
That’s a good one.
In all those old songs MJ’s music gift really shines through.
lo says
1. Mood: Hot and sweaty… giving a huge dog a bath is hard work! Also, it’s about 85 degrees outside.
2. Your favorite fall boots? I just have a flat, faux-suede slouchy pair. I’d kind of like to get new ones, but it’s never really boot weather down here.
3. Have you ever thrown a dinner party? Nope. I’ve always wanted to, but occasionally I’d get to throw a brunch.
4. Turtleneck sweaters — yea or nay? Yea! Usually I like solids or a subtle (super skinny) stripe. I don’t like super-chunky or busy ones.
5. Do you color your hair? Nope. Occasional highlights, but even that is only when I really feel blah about my hair.
6. Favorite drugstore blush? Neutrogena… the one that looks like a mosaic. I hate super matte or super shimmery ones, and this one is right in the middle.
7. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? Nothing about myself, personally, but maybe something about my life. I’d love to be able to be financially secure enough to be totally on my own. I just graduated college and I’m going back to school for a post-bach degree in spring. So I’m basically perpetually poor, and it sucks.
8. What’s one beauty product you couldn’t live without? Mascara. Also, right now, acne pads, because my face is a mess.
9. What music have you been into lately? Mumford and Sons, Modest Mouse, Coldplay. Moody, moody, moody. I need some new upbeat jams.
10. Weekly goals: Not sure yet.
Karen says
Hi Lo,
Forgive me if I’ve asked this already, but what program are you starting in the spring?

No forgiveness necessary 🙂 It’s a post-baccalaureate program for people looking to get into med school, but who didn’t do all the sciences in undergrad. It’s a smaller program than the regular pre-med major that freshman would go into. So I can get all those credits in 4-5 semesters, instead of having to do 4 years of undergrad all over again (which would have resulted in me being a 30-something med student haha). I’m pretty stoked about it, but going back to school is pricey, so I hope the financial aid department will be reallllly nice to me!
Karen says
Ya know, I didn’t even know programs like that existed. That’s great for the folks who realize they want to go in to med later on!
Plus, you can get it all done in one feel swoop and still have all that knowledge packed into your brain for the MCATS. It’s genius, really.
lo says
I know! I’m so grateful such a program exists… and only like a 10 minute drive from my house, too. Basically, it’s a no-lose situation!
Karen says
That’s great. I hope you enjoy your classes!

Hey Karen!
Sorry not to take the poll, but I’ve got a question for you!
I am experiencing major hair loss and I was wondering if you had any suggestions for trying to cover up my newly thinning hair. I went from having to tame it, and now it just looks so thin and limp. I’m working with a doctor to get to the bottom of it, but I need some help to make me feel good about my hair until it gets better. I use to have such lovely hair and I feel so ugly!
Thanks!
Karen says
Hi Lia,
How about some cute, stylish hats? I always get mine from H&M. They’re affordable (just picked up a black one for $13!) and they keep your head warm, too.
You could also try doing a wide headband with a long scarf, like I have in this video here: https://www.makeupandbeautyblog.com/hair/a-cute-summertime-hairstyle/
