- You might be wondering, “So what the heck is this Monday Poll thing anyway?”
Well, it isn’t much of a poll. It’s more just a constantly evolving (devolving?), somewhat random list of questions I’ve been putting out to readers every Monday morning for the past three years, which I guess makes this somewhere around Vol. 169. I’ve always enjoyed reading your answers in the comments, and I hope you enjoy reading mine.
- Mood:
- What’s been the hardest thing about getting into makeup?
- What’s your favorite limited edition makeup collection (if you have one)?
- How did you land your current job?
- Three things you’d like to accomplish in the next three months?
- Where were you 10 years ago?
- Tell me about your hair.
- Describe yourself in three words.
- What jewelry are you wearing?
- Weekly goals:
I’ll be perkier once the tea kicks in, but for now I’m super chill and mellow.
Being brave about color. I’d gotten so used to wearing the same Clinique eye, lip and cheek colors that it took me years to break out of my comfort zone. Now I think I’m more adventurous. I figure, what’s the worst that could happen? If a look doesn’t really work out, so what?
It’s a three-way tie between MAC Smoke Signals (2007), Barbie Loves MAC (2007) and Chanel Les Naturles De Chanel (2009). I love Smoke Signals for its moodiness, Barbie for its playfulness and Chanel Les Naturales for its everyday usefulness (the way it handled neutrals was a thing of beauty).
I wish I could say there was a method to the madness that brought me to blogging, but I got here by accident. I still do some freelance writing for magazines, but the blog became my main endeavor about two years ago. It helped to have a supportive partner who encouraged me to leave my corporate day job and chase my dreams (and whose day job I could rely on to help pay the bills) and a bit of luck to have started doing this at the right time in my life.
I’d like to take a little vacation around my birthday next month. I’d also like to furnish the empty rooms in the condo so that when people walk in they no longer say, “Did you guys just move in?” Oh, and I’d also like to learn how to speak some Italian.
That would have been 2001. Let’s see… I was a 26-year-old single gal living la vida loca in San Francisco. I worked in a downtown high-rise as a legal assistant, and you know what they say. It was the best of times; it was the worst of times…
It’s naturally thick and kinda frizzy, straight on the inner layers, wavy on the outside. After countless long and short haircuts, I’d say I’m a long-hair girl now, through and through. Right now it’s layered with side-swept bangs and caramel ombre highlights, but I’m thinking about growing out my bangs (too lazy to get them trimmed, yargh!).
Evolving. Happy. Grateful.
Just my wedding and engagement rings. I’ll probably add earrings in a few minutes.
To keep my desk neat and tidy, to play with Tabs for 20 extra minutes every day this week (he’s been really needy lately) and to finish re-reading For Whom the Bell Tolls. I just love that book…
Anyone else going through major weekend withdrawals? I always miss El Hub when he goes to work on Monday morning after having him to myself for two whole days.
Has your week gotten off to a good start? I’m glad you stopped by. 🙂 Monday’s are so much easier with the help of a friend. If you have a minute, come say hi in the Monday Poll. I always like to hear from you before your day gets crazy.

1. Mood: The Monday blues are pretty bad today. Maybe it’s this overcast weather, or maybe it’s just that I really don’t want to be at work…hence I’m on this website! 🙂
2. What’s been the hardest thing about getting into makeup?
Well…there hasn’t really been anything hard about it for me! I’m a neutral girl, but it’s fun everyday to try to figure out a new look. 🙂
3. What’s your favorite limited edition makeup collection (if you have one)?
I don’t really follow MAC releases, or really any other releases, so I don’t have one.
4. How did you land your current job? I was just about to graduate college, and I was at a pool party. A girl there told me her law firm was hiring, and I applied as a Records Clerk. Seven years later here I still am and I now have my own office! 🙂

It was perfect. And this position is probably about the best one I possibly could’ve found for my current situation. It’s phenomenal.

But the UD 15th anniversary eyeliner set is like heaven in a box, and Rescue Beauty Lounge’s Tudor collection made my mouth water.

Three things you’d like to accomplish in the next three months? 1) get a summer job, 2) cross some books from my waiting list (well, on my personal blog, I take part in a book waiting list game, where the aim is that we had to propose a list of 12 books we wanted to read, and we should read them by 31st December… and I’ve only read 3 so far…)
6. Where were you 10 years ago? I was turning 12 in one and a half months, and I’ve just finished the first year in my secondary school, with a whole bunch of good scholastic contest achievements… I’ve never been more optimistic, and I miss those days. OK, I’ve been shy and reserved back then, too, but then everything seemed so much easier :D.
7. Tell me about your hair. Love/hate relationship :P. There’s lot of trouble with it. It’s really sensitive and thin (and so’s my skin), so I have to be careful what kind of products I use, and I’ve never dyed, curled, straightened etc. it, because I’m afraid it would cause even more damage to it. Oh, and it’s even thinning. There was a phase in my life (before my secondary school final exams) when it thinned like crazy… so much I had to have it cut short for aesthetic reasons (new hair was growing on the top of my head, but below there was almost nothing)… and I don’t really like short hair on myself (I tend to think my face is not feminine enough for that). Now, I’m content with the length (past-shoulder). It used to be rella ytraight, but after the cut, there are some random twirls in it, usually at the bottom… and if I have it air dry, there’s some wave in it (for a day or two). As for the color, it’s some brown black (not already brown, not yet black… like strong black coffee,,, it seems black from far away, though) and it needs some shine. Sometimes I love it, but when I’m really-really pale (my skin is really pale ab ovo), I hate it, because it just makes my face dull. So, if I ever dye my hair, it’d be something which is as dark, but way warmer (like a chocolate brown or a black cherry).
8. Describe yourself in three words. Daydreamer, eccentric, artistic.
9. What jewelry are you wearing? My standard little ‘thingy’ studs (it’s like a small Moebius ribbon or sth like that) and a necklace I’ve just received (I won it on a blog giveaway :D). It’s a delicate, thin golden colored chain with a little pendant/charm… and it looks like a bullet :P. I tend to enjoy funny/wacky jewelry, especially if they are not into-your face, and you could only see the joke of it if you observe it in detail, closely :).
10. Weekly goals: university administration, bleh (home assignments, presentations, other administration stuff)… and maybe a class reunion-slash-picnic (but only 3 of us confirmed it for 100% on fb, so it may not happen at all…)

I love your three words. I’d have used daydreamer and artistic, but I’m not exactly eccentric! I’m Autistic, so all of my eccentricities normally stem from that!
