  4. Snowboarding! We’re driving distance from Tahoe, and I’d love to give it a try, but only if there’s a way I can do it without being cold, ha!

  6. The first man/woman to plunge a potato into a vat of boiling oil deserves a posthumous award of some kind. I’ve been craving fries like cra-zaaay lately! — criss-cut fries, curly fries, garlic fries, cheese fries, sweet potato fries… mmm, fries.

  7. Fragrance?
  8. I’m going old school Monday with Classic Anna Sui, which was incidentally also my go-to scent in the winter of 2001.

  12. Two things: 1) supportive friends and 2) umbrellas (it’s raining again).

  14. Tabs the Cat, Shauna the Wonder Dog (she’s more my dad’s dog now, but I feel like I raised her) and No-Name the Fish (a red and orange betta). Though, really, No-Name is more like the roommate I hardly ever see. He belongs to El Hub, who sequestered him to a Tabs-free zone in the house.

  15. What are you most looking forward to this week?
  16. I’m looking forward to going out to dinner with the boy tonight. We’re trying to start the week off on a good note!

  18. Jeans, a red v-neck sweater and brown Keds.

  19. Weekly goals:
  20. Get to bed early tonight (or at least tomorrow), straighten up my office, go for at least three 20-minute walks and smile pretty much constantly. :)

    Hi Karen! thought i’d stop and leave you a comment, i’ve been reading your blog for a year and…wow, it’s one of my daily stops on the net!
    I’ve started snowboarding too this year and it’s fun! And with the right clothing you won’t feel cold at all! Better yet think about protections…these are helpful when at first you keep falling, you won’t get hurt and you’ll keep up with learning!

      Hi Llaria, It does look like fun — I surf so I figure I’d probably enjoy snowboarding as well. The only thing is I hate wearing bulky clothes, or anything that feels binding (can’t even stand stocks, LOL!). It’s been a long time since I’ve been in the snow… so maybe there’s been new clothing technology that I don’t know about. Anyway, did it take you a long time to learn?

        Sure — I’ll meet you at Elevation Burger and we’ll go to town on some fries. It always amazes me how a craving will just stay with you until you satisfy it.

        Drinking lots of tea with lemon and honey. Throat Coat Tea always works wonders. I have to be in tip top shape before I have my volunteer shift at the soup kitchen later this week. Don’t want to get everyone else sick!

    1. Mood: Pretty happy. I kind of feel like procrastinating, but only because I’ve been way more productive lately than I’m used to.
    2. A sport or physical activity you’d like to learn? Break dancing! I have a DVD that teaches you, but I’m waiting until I’m in a bit better shape. Break dancing is HARD!
    3. Guilty junk food craving? Well, I’m eating pizza right now for lunch, but it’s in my daily calorie plan, so that’s fine. But my all-time favorite junk food is fruit snacks. Specifically the trifecta of Fruit Roll-Ups, Fruit by the Foot, and Gushers. Generic fruit snacks are ewww.
    4. Fragrance? I smell like Victoria’s Secret lotion in Appletini.
    5. Eyes/lips/cheeks: Oh, none yet.
    6. Something you’re grateful for today? The fact that I’m still exercising every day, and for the people that love me, and for my awesome job. I get to sleep in!
    7. Names of your pet(s)? I don’t technically have a pet, but I’d like to claim my mom’s husband’s cat, if I could. Her name is technically Liberty, though they call her Birdie. I call her Kitty, which she responds to. I’ve even taught her tricks despite the fact that she is so darn antisocial.
    8. What are you most looking forward to this week? Starting Thursday, I don’t need to be working as hard as I have been. Also, I’m going to slow cook homemade butternut squash soup at some point.
    9. Outfit: Brown workout pants. Brown tank top with a blue hooded shirt/sweater over it.

    Thanks for your reply Karen! Let me tell you, snowboarding clothes are not bulky, in fact you get Gore Tex jackets that are thin but they keep you warm thanks to the way the material works! And when you start riding it’ll take just a little while to get warm if not hot! I’ve been riding all past month with temperatures like 17 degrees celsius under zero (1.4F) and i didn’t feel cold! Snowboarding clothing might look baggy, but it’s not bulky at all! Check the Burton Ladies collection or Roxy, those are the brands i’m using! It took me three lessons to learn the basics, then it’s up to you going out every now and then to refine the technique!

    My Monday started off with the greatest news…….I got my sugical date for my Gastric Bypass proceedure……..MARCH 29th is the DAY!!!

    1. Mood: I’m all over the place today—I’ve been off from work because I had nutrition class this morning, dr. appointments and calls all afternoon and Hubster and I are getting ready to attend life skills class tonight……this surgery stuff is like SCHOOL!

    2. A sport or physical activity you’d like to learn? Ballroom Dancing…..execent Aerobic activity, I hear……and I’m a sucker for sequins!

    3. Guilty junk food craving? Well, since I am teaching myself better eating habits……no, really I was craving a Nutty Buddy ice cream cone all weekend.

    5. Eyes/lips/cheeks: I’m doing a grey/red plum smokey eye with Scene on my lid, 100 Strokes on my outer and crease and All Races as my highlight with Feline liner. Twp coats of CG Lash Blast Lenght……MMMMRRROWWW! Lips are Givenchy Gloss Interdit in Rose Taboo. Cheeks are in Benefit’s Sugarbomb, what else……

    6. Something you’re grateful for today? An umbrella……it rained Lions and Tigers and Bears (oh MY!) here today….

    7. Names of your pet(s)? My lovely girl Kona (our Border Collie/Rottweiller mix) and the BOYS….Tigger and Sugar (our pain-in-the-Toukas cats)

    8. What are you most looking forward to this week? You’ll laugh, but WORK…..I’ve got more dr. appointments on both Wednesday and Thursday, so I’m actually looking forward to being at work this week.

Outfit: Grey/Black striped hoodie, Grey l/s tee, Grey Yoga pants, Black Crocs……not to offend anyone, but I call this my “Slacker Look” because it really requires little thought from me…..it’s comfy & warm and that’s all I was looking for today……oh, and YES, I love my Crocs—they’re UGLY as sin, but so comfortable.

    10. Weekly goals: I need to get on point with my nutritional review, so I need to completely empty out our pantry to get rid of the bad, so I can plan my meals better. I spend Sunday depotting 13 MAC e/s, and I’ll have more to do this week. I also want to get out and start walking now that it’s still light out when I get home from work!

    2. A sport or physical activity you’d like to learn? How to jog.. it seems basic but I’m not one for running and I would love to be able to run a mini or half marathon one day.

    3. Guilty junk food craving? Firstly, no guilt. Eat junk once in a while and enjoy it. Craving.. dark chocolate, I have a few pieces with me to munch on post coffee.

Mood: Rather irritated and cranky since my sprained/pulled shoulder is acting up again, I slept badly due to a bad headache and I have a downright host of those nasty autoimmune cold sores setting up camp in my mouth (that might be a little TMI…). I opted to sleep in this morning to try and fend of a cold, because these are usually my warning signs, but I slept WAY in and I still have quite a lot to get accomplished today. Also, my P&J order is out for delivery in Anaheim, CA (I’m in San Diego…) which leads me to suspect that either Soft Surroundings gave me the wrong tracking number or printed my address wrong… =/

    2. A sport or physical activity you’d like to learn? Krav Maga. Would be useful. There’s actually a center that teaches it close to here but I’ve never been able to fit it in my schedule.

    3. Guilty junk food craving? Meiji owns my soul… Pocky, Meltyblends and all those other fun chocolates. Nestle’s Japan exclusive Kit Kats too. I was able to find the Royal Milk Tea one yesterday at a small Japanese marketplace and it is just TDF.

    4. Fragrance? Estee Lauder’s Tresor is pretty much my go-to fragrance. I tend to not wear perfume too often, I worry that it will be overpowering to people. And I didn’t wear it while my kids were little because I wanted them to bond to my natural scent.
